Sharon Sue Isaacs Durbin, 57
Sharon Sue Isaacs Durbin, age 57, of South Winn Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.
She was born December 18, 1956 in Estill County and was the daughter of Happy Isaacs and Frances Mae Rose Caldwell. She was a wonderful grandmother and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Mrs. Durbin is survived by her father, Happy Isaacs, Estill County; her mother and stepfather, Frances Mae Rose Caldwell and Kenneth, Estill County; one son, Dwight David Durbin (Jennifer), Berea; one sister, Kathy Jean Isaacs, Richmond; one brother, Kenneth Caldwell Jr. Estill County; two grandchildren: Carter Durbin and Mason Durbin; and her niece, Tonya Isaacs Beard (Chad) and daughter, Addison.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 11th at the funeral home.

Donald Lewis Newman, 74
Donald Lewis Newman, age 74, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, husband of Mattie Ann Combs, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014.
He was a native of Estill County, born June 29, 1939, a son of Wannetta Lynam Newman and the late Otis Newman. He was a tinkerer; loved antique cars, gardening, animals, and his family. Mr. Newman was a veteran of the both the United States Army and the Air Force, serving his country in Viet Nam.
Survivors, other than his wife Mattie, include his sons: Scott Newman (Marie) and Brad Newman (Keira); his step-sons: Therron Combs, James Anthony Combs and Duane Combs; his step-daughter, Judy Derring (Gary); his grandchildren: Darian Newman, Ashley Newman, Nicole Newman and Reace Newman; his great granddaughter, Delany; ten step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 10th at Lewis Funeral Home with Larry Frymeyer officiating. Burial followed in the Double Oak Cemetery, with military rites. Friends called any time after 12:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Tandy Crawford Jr., 80
Tandy Crawford Jr., age 80, widower of Betty Claunch Crawford passed away Monday, March 3, 2014.
He was born July 26th, 1933, a son of the late Tandy and Beluah Gross Crawford. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Southeast Coal Company. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his son, Tandy Wayne Crawford; his sister, Shirley D. Crawford McCormick; and his grandson, Tandy Michael Estes.
Survivors include his son, Charles Wallace and Jeanette Horn; three daughters: Alice Rosenberry (Johnny), Sharlon Whitley (Manuel), and Lois Allen; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Roberts Cemetery at South Irvine with military honors. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 7th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jamie Sparks, Steven Sparks, David Rawlins, Buzzy Horn, Jordan Estes, and Tory Crawford.
Honorary pallbearer was Mike Estes.

Arthonia “Coonie” Abner Johnson, 82
Arthonia “Coonie” Abner Johnson, 82, widow of Raymond Johnson, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Fountain Circle Care & Rehab Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
She was a native of Clark County, born March 24, 1931, and lived in Estill County her entire life. She was a retired employee of the Curlee Clothing Company, and a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Tom and Virgie Duggins Abner. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Lawrence, J.D., C.F., and Walter Abner; and her sisters: Florence Stone and Sara Abner.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Sue Cartledge (Billy); her son, Darrell Johnson (and special friend Rosella Luedtge); her special niece, Betty Mays; a special granddaughter, Diana Rogers; grandchildren: Chastity Wade (Sherman), Kelly Jones (Leon), Amanda Byrd (Troy), Darrell Wayne Johnson (Tabitha); her great-grandchildren: Todd Jones, Brady Jones, Bennie Risner, Brianna Risner, Mercedes Byrd, Donna Byrd, Hannah Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Jordan Carlington, Kaytlyn Carlington, and Emily Carlington.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Casey officiating. Burial followed in the Abner Cemetery on Old Fox Road. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Sherman Wade, Tim Powell, Donald Walling, Allen Wiser, Steven Stamper, and Richard Creech.
Honorary bearer was Jim Morris.

Myrtle White Turpin, 94
Myrtle White Turpin, age 94, widow of Shirley Turpin, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Sierra Vista, Arizona, after a long illness.
Mrs. White was a native of Estill County, born September 21, 1919, a retired employee of Carhartt and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Pleas and Lily Richardson White. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Hubert White, Ethyl Crowe, Hazel White, and Bertha Nelson.
Survivors include her son, Tom Turpin (Pauline); her brother, Vernon White (Grace); her grandsons: Steven Turpin, James Turpin, and Jeffrey Turpin; and her grandchildren: Sydney Turpin, Blake Turpin, Chandler Turpin, Kendal Turpin, Cole Turpin, Niklas Turpin, and Amanda Turpin.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called Wednesday after 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
