Phoebe Gayle Stewart, 57
Phoebe Gayle Stewart, age 57, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her residence.
Born December 14, 1956, in Lexington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Dorothy Cox King of Lexington and the late Roy King. Ms. Stewart was a self-employed caregiver.
In addition to her mother, survivors include a son, Jeremy (Erica) Stewart, Irvine; a daughter, Melissa (Larry) Wilson, Georgetown; six grandchildren: Caden and Taylor Stewart; and Hailey, Johnathan, Kennedy, and Kendall Wilson; and one brother, John King.
Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 29th at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, by Bro. Bill Bales. Burial followed in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation was 6-9 p.m., Friday, March 28th at the funeral home.

Ulyssus Coffey, 76
Ulyssus Coffey, age 76, of the Irvine, Kentucky, Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, after a long illness.
He was born December 30, 1937 in Jackson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Alger and Carrie Cain Coffey. He was a farmer and had lived in Estill County the last few years.
Mr. Coffee is survived by one brother, Delmer Coffey, Florida; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Brookman; and two brothers: John Coffey and James Coffey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. William Willis and Bro. Beverly Arvin, with burial to follow in the Harrison Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, March 31st at the funeral home.

Ina Osborne Metcalf, 69
Ina Osborne Metcalf, age 69, of Dug Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born April 23, 1944, in Estill County, the daughter of the late Robert and Modena Johnson Osborne. She retired from Carhartt as a machine operator after 36 years. She attended the House of Prayer and had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Mrs. Metcalf was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Metcalf.
She is survived by four daughters: Kathy Henson (Jerry), Fairfield, Ohio; Linda Hunt, Pat Bicknell (Fairley), both of Richmond; and Faye Roberts (Bill), Irvine; one son, Billy Wayne Metcalf, Irvine; four sisters: Lillie Sturgis (Edd), Richmond, Indiana; Allie Fair, Martha Flynn (Ernest), both of Irvine; and Jo Ann Patrick (Willard), Lexington; one brother, Wade Osborne, Irvine; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law: Kathy Metcalf and Reva Metcalf.
Mrs. Metcalf was preceded in death by two sons: Gary and Don Metcalf; a son-in-law and a granddaughter: Mike Hunt and Ashlee Hunt; 12 sisters; four brothers; a brother-in-law, Tracy Noland; and a sister-in-law, Linda Osborne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 31st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose and Bro. Gary McClanahan with burial to follow in the Turpin Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, March 30th at the funeral home.

Glenn Russell “Charlie” Baker, age 60, husband of Cheryl Lynn Watson Baker, of Irvine, Kentucky; passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
He was born on December 31, 1953 in Fayette County to Anna Margaret Brown Baker and the late Earl Russell Baker. “Charlie” was a handyman and a general laborer and he attended the Cobhill Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl L. Watson Baker, and his mother, Anna Margaret Brown Baker, he is survived by one son, Tony Abel of Richmond; one stepson, Chris Coffey (Timberlee) of Irvine; two step daughters: Christina Coffey of Irvine, and Casey Coffey of Lee County; two brothers: Earl Baker (Rhonda) of Berea, and David Baker (Pat) of Lexington; two sisters: Hazel Long (James) of Irvine, and Lorene Rader of Richmond; and ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29th at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Chris Coffey and Donald Jones officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Cobhill Cemetery in Irvine. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until funeral time at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Abel, Chris Coffey, Robert Baker, Stephen Baker, Joshua Long, James Long and Jerry Jones.

Mary Lucille Hall Benton, age 84, of Lilly Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington after a short illness.
She was born March 29, 1929, in Breathitt County, a daughter of the late Roy and Lucy Thorpe Hall. She was retired from the meat department at Food World and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the church’s Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Benton.
She is survived by two daughters: Sue Curtis, Richmond; and Barsha Honchell (Larry), Estill County; two sons: James S. Benton and fiancé Julie, Shelbyville; and Mark Benton (Kellie), Richmond; one brother, Vincent Hall (Connie), Franklin, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Tuffy Benton, Estill County; ten grandchildren: Andrea Williams, Jennifer Neal, Ricky Joe Benton, Stephanie Benton, Tyler Benton, Adam Benton, Steve Honchell, Jordyn Honchell, Kayla Benton and Rachael Benton; and 11 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Hall; two brothers: Wallace Hall and Roy Hall Jr.; and one grandchild, Ashley Elizabeth Honchell.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28th at the First Christian Church by Pastor Greg Humpert with burial to follow in the Roberts Cemetery. Friends called from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, March 27th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 11 a.m., Friday, at the church.

Della Akeman Harrison, age 84, widow of Johnny Harrison, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, in Edgewood, Kentucky.
She was a native of Hazard, Kentucky, born February 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Sam and Callie Deaton Akeman. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pentecostal faith, and loved sewing, quilting, and fishing.
Survivors include her sons: Gary, Larry, Ricky (Brate) and Dwayne (Shondra) Harrison; her daughters: Faith Ball (Gary), and Susan Harrison; her brothers: John and Luther Akeman; her sisters: Doris Jean Sebastian and Edith Akeman; grandchildren: Lynn Harrison, Denise Harrison, Johnny Harrison, Tosha Hughes, Gary Harrison, Marsha Harrison, Saundra Campbell, Lonnie Campbell Jr., Felicia Harrison, Sidney Harrison, Sierra Harrison, Vanessa Harrison, and Zackary Harrison; and 26 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunaway Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mildred P. Richardson, age 84, Corydon, Indiana; died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Born October 5, 1929, in Irvine, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Nannie Metcalf Perry. She was retired from M. Fine and Sons Shirt Factory in New Albany, Indiana; and was a member of Corydon Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Labon Richardson; a son, Mike Roberts; a grandson, Brent Richardson; three brothers: Pryse, Finley and Arthur Perry; and two sisters: Lucy Brinegar and Jewell Stanley.
Survivors include three sons, Labon Richardson Jr. of Louisville, and Marcus Sr. and Casey Richardson, both of Palmyra, Indiana; a daughter, Jill Brown of Jeffersonville; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, February 28th, from 3 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, March 1, after 9 a.m., at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Her funeral was held Saturday, March 1st at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Jordan Cemetery near Corydon. Officiant was Pastor Tommy Hullette.
Pallbearers were Kenny and Jon Carpenter, Dustin, Scot and Marcus Richardson Jr., and Michael Roberts.

Lester Ray Canter, age 57, of Highway 52 in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at his home, following a sudden illness.
He was born May 6, 1956, in Estill County, the son of Cecil Simp Canter and the late Edith Lucille Gentry Canter. He was a retired rock miner with Vulcan Material and had lived in Lee County most of his life. He was a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Marilyn Joyce Flinchum Canter; one daughter, Melissa Maria Tipton (Anthony James); two sons: Samuel Ray Canter, Lee County; and Eric Wayne Canter, Richmond; two brothers: Donnie Lee Canter and Harold Dean Canter, both of Versailles; and four grandchildren: Courtney Nicole Farthing, Gabrielle Erin Farthing, Desiree Danielle Tipton, and Anthony Austin Kyle Tipton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Lloyd Canter.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 24th at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.

Gary Joe Snowden, age 52, of Train Alley in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, after a long illness.
He was born July 18, 1961 in Estill County and was the son of the late Hubert Junior Snowden Sr. and Sally White Snowden. He was a mechanic and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
Mr. Snowden is survived by two daughters: Lora Cox and Miranda Webb, both of Irvine; two sons: Joe Snowden and Justin Hobbs, both of Irvine; two sisters: Peggy Snowden and Patricia Stepp, both of Irvine; one brother, Eddie Snowden, Irvine; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Snowden Jr.
Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25th at the Jackson Chapel Cemetery by Bro. Donnie Watson.

Harold Sparks Sr., age 73, widower of Evelyn (Riley), passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky, on November 23, 1940, a son of the late Floyd and Effie (Morris) Sparks. He was a former automotive mechanic with the Highway Power and Electric Company in Richmond, Indiana, and a member of the Sparks Church of Christ located in the Spencer Ridge community of Lee County.
Mr. Sparks is survived by five sons: Harold Jr., David, William, Thomas Sparks, all of Beattyville; and Lloyd Sparks of Tennessee; two daughters: Linda Norton of Irvine and Donie Denise Phillips of Beattyville; two brothers: Gary and Jesse Sparks, both of Tennessee; one sister, Carol Shelton of Beattyville; 15 grandchildren: Nicole, Samantha, Cody, Justin, Josh, Heather, Dillon, William Eric, Stacy Mae, Summer, Michael, Kristen, Brittany, Krystal, and Allison; and four great grandchildren, along with many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 44 years; one brother, Linville Sparks; and 1 sister, Donie Mullins.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22nd at the Sparks Family Cemetery located in the Spencer Fork Community of Lee County with Reverend Kevin Baker officiating, where Harold was laid to rest next to his wife.

Elsie Marie Chamberlain Henry, age 77, of South Irvine Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her home, following a long illness.
She was born March 23, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Margaret Webb Chamberlain. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wagersville Pentecostal Church of God. She had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Ms. Henry is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Hardy (James), Deborah Cheney (Mark), and Tonya Fowler, all of Estill County; six sons: Bobby Henry, Troy Henry (Peggy), Edward “Tootie” Henry (Bertha), Tim Henry, Terry Henry (Loretta) and Larry Henry (Tina), all of Estill County; two sisters: Edna Spivey and Retha Alcorn, both of Estill County; one brother: Charlie Chamberlain, Hamilton, Ohio; 23 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Henry; five sisters: Lucy Blevins, Lillie Mae Miller, Gracie Cox, Addie Miller and Mettie Chamberlain; and four brothers: Willie, Robert, Ernest and David Chamberlain.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 21st at the Wagersville Pentecostal Church of God by Bro. Beverly Arvin. Burial was at the Chamberlain Cemetery.
