Life-Saving Opportunity
Blood Drives Scheduled In Irvine
Area residents are invited to be life-savers at one of two upcoming Kentucky Blood Center blood drives scheduled in Irvine.
The first is at Marcum & Wallace Hospital, 60 Mercy Court in Irvine, on Monday, April 21st, 1-2:30 p.m. on the KBC Bloodmobile.
The second is at West Irvine Elementary School, 155 River View Road, on Thursday, April 24th, 2-7 p.m. in the school's gym.

Blood donors must have a photo I.D., be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

KBC, the largest FDA regulated blood bank in Kentucky, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. KBC relies on volunteers to donate 400 pints of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components.

Betty Joyce Patrick Powell, age 64
Betty Joyce Patrick Powell, age 64, of Cressy Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1950 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Tracy and Irene McIntosh Patrick. She was a homemaker, a former Carhartt, Inc. employee and a caregiver. She was a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church and the Garden Thyme Herb Club. She had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Mrs. Powell is survived by four daughters: Debbie Wright (Darrell), Sanders; Jackie Woosley (Michael), Mt. Sterling; Vicki Horn (Jeff), Ravenna; and Cathy Dawes (Bryan), Irvine; one son, Dino Powell, Irvine; two sisters, Delores Patrick Rowland and Nancy Townsend (Ralph), both of Irvine; two brothers: Tracy Randall Patrick (Luellis), and Johnnie Patrick, both of Irvine; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Allen Patrick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bob Mills and Bro. Buford Powell. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, April 24th at the funeral home.

Arthur Cole White, age 72
Arthur Cole White, age 72, of 3rd Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at his home following a long illness.
He was born November 25, 1941 in Clark County and was the son of the late James and Ann Abner White. He was a former engineer with Sylvania and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a veteran with the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion.
Mr. White is survived by his wife, Billie Margaret Christy White; one daughter, Debra Cole (Michael), Estill County; two sons: William White (Robin), Estill County; and Michael White (Sherri), San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Mary Ann Cline, Winchester; a sister-in-law, Joyce White, Winchester; six grandchildren: Brandon Cole & wife, London, Micaela Cole, Andrew White, Tyler White, Mahala Caldwell and Joseph Smith; and four great grandchildren: Hollie Cole, Lillian Cole, Karlee Smith and Addison Smith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Jimmy White.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23rd at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Scott Rogers. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 22nd at the funeral home.

Clemon Dee Cole, 78
Clemon Dee Cole, age 78, of Stanton, Kentucky, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Orlando, Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
He was born in Irvine, Kentucky, on February 3, 1936, the son of the late Virgil and Bessie L. Powell Cole. He was a self-employed auto mechanic.
Mr. Cole is survived by a son, Clemon David Cole (Lucy) of Orlando; three daughters: Letha Tipton (Oliver) of Winchester, Bessie Tipton (Robert) and Heather Cole, both of Irvine; two brothers: Estill Lee Cole and Jerry Cole, both of Clay City; and six sisters: Lillie Cole, Bobbie Crowe, Clarene Donahue, Violet Spangler, all of Winchester; Nanny Jones and Nancy Reed, both of Clay City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Cole; his second wife, Debbie Cole; five brothers; and a sister.
There was no service nor visitation.

Addie Lee Cummins, age 89, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Golden Living Center Golden Rule.
She was born October 2, 1924 in Fox, Estill County, Kentucky to Henry Thomas and Hallie Rose Hawkins and lived in Richmond since 1955. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for Westinghouse in Richmond, Kentucky and was a member of College Hill Methodist Church in Richmond, Kentucky.
Survivors include her four children: Wayne Hall of Oxford, Ohio; Carol Nelson (Bill), Chris Cummins (Kim), both of Richmond; and Hallie Brookshear (Bob Hunter) of Celina, Ohio; six grandchildren: Dwayne and Randy Hall, Kathy Brown, Anthony and Charlie Arnold, and Danyel Rostad; 16 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren; one brother, Russell Hawkins of Oxford, Ohio; two sisters, Bertie Floyd of Irvine, Kentucky; and Sue Caldwell of McKee, Kentucky; nieces and nephews.
Addie’s family would like to express their gratitude for the care given her by the nurses, staff, and her roommate Angie at Golden Living Center Golden Rule.
Her husband, David l. Cummins, died November 25, 2003; one grandson, Timothy Arnold; her parents, four brothers: Raymond, Willie, Henry, and Tommy Jr.; and one daughter-in-law, Micky Hall, are also deceased.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Floyd officiating. Burial was in Earlham Cemetery. Friends called 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Clairetta Berryman Bolton

Clairetta Berryman Bolton, age 72, of Lexington, Kentucky, wife of Bill Bolton, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Willows of Hamburg.
She was born in Irvine, Kentucky, on September 28, 1941 to Grace Allen Berryman and the late Sheridan Berryman. She was a retired dental office manager. She grew up attending the Epperson First Church of God and then became a longtime member of the Winchester First United Methodist Church where she was active in the handbell choir and the chancel choir. Clairetta was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Bolton is survived by two daughters: Debbie Rose Slone (Garry) and Susan Rose Green (Steve); a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Williams (Bradley); a grandson, Lucas Green; a great granddaughter, Kinsley Williams; two sisters: Vivian Brumagen and Freida Creech (Jerry); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 16th at the Winchester First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Jeff Carter. Burial will follow in the Fielder Cemetery in Estill County.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Creech, Tom Brumagen, Jody Creech, Hagan Rose, Lucas Green, Bradley Williams, Dave Ridgway, and Chris Brown.

Virginia Marinda “Randi” Lewis, age 39, of Train Alley in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born April 26, 1974 in Connersville, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Berley Lewis and Irene Clark. She was a former home health care assistant and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Ms. Lewis is survived by her son, Joe Snowden, Estill County; her adoptive mother, Sue Gross, Estill County; and two sisters: Rose Conrad, Indiana; and Jessica Clark, Berea.
Memorial services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15th by Bro. Jerry Smith at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Friends called after 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Samuel Edward Tipton, age 69, of High Street, Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2014 at his home, after a long illness.
He was a native of Estill County, born April 12, 1944, a son of the late Mackey and Edna McIntosh Tipton. He was a retired police officer, former fire chief of Irvine, and former jailer of Estill County. He was a member of the the Stafford Lodge #562 F&AM, a member of the Kiwanis Club, a shriner, and also a member of the Millers Creek Church of God.
Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his siblings: Mable Gibson, Mary Bunch, Ollie Estes, Blanch Tipton, Louise Tipton, Annie Horn, Betty Neal, Emma McIntosh, Violet Arvin, Dorothy Young; Thomas, Macky Jr., Joe, and Travis Tipton.
Survivors include his children: Billy Tipton (Shelia), Ed Tipton, and Delena Tipton; his sister, Katherine Smyth; his grandchildren: Corey Baker, Chesney Tipton, Stacey Tipton, Keyona Violet Tipton, Brook Robinson, Blair Robinson, Autumn Tipton, and Madalyn Tipton; his great grandchild, Tristann Robinson Stamper; a special nephew Tommy Arvin (Donna); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13th at Lewis Funeral Home, with Bro. Donnie Watson officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, with Masonic Rites at graveside. Friends called anytime after 10:00 a.m., Sunday.
Pallbearers were the members of the Stafford Lodge #562, F&AM.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Jesus “Chuy” Reyes, age 44, of Rose Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born January 22, 1970 in Chamela, Jalisco, Mexico and was the son of the late Andres Pena Godoy and Marie Luisa Reyes Cobarruvias. He was a foreman with Tri-State Roofing and had lived in Estill County for the past 25 years.
Mr. Reyes is survived by his loving companion, Phyllis Ann; one daughter, Cheyann Nicole; two sisters: Maricella Pena Reyes and Alicia Pena Reyes; and six brothers: Ramon Pena Reyes, Andres Pena Reyes, Jose Pena Reyes, Adon Pena Reyes, Antonio Pena Reyes and Raul Lima Garcia.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13th by Bro. David Watson at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Milly Jane McIntosh Roberts, 96
Milly Jane McIntosh Roberts, 96, widow of Robert Roberts, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was a native of Estill County, born April 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Lusby and Betty Richardson McIntosh. She was a retired employee of General Motors and a member of the Rice Station Christian Church. She loved traveling, working in her yard, and keeping her cars spotless.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her siblings: Enatheda McIntosh Melemore, Bessie Brady, Arvin McIntosh, and Lewis McIntosh.
Survivors include her brothers: Hayden and Lamon McIntosh, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12th at Rice Station Christian Church with Bro. Kirt Scott officiating. Friends called anytime after 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial followed in the Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Plowman, Darrell Dixon, Ray Harold Hardy, Kevin McIntosh, Hal McIntosh, and Chris McIntosh.
