She was born April 15, 1939, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Granford and Dovie (McIntosh) Hall. She graduated from Irvine High School and later in life received a registered nursing degree from Harper Community College. She met Gary Sheffert when he was in the Army in Kentucky and they were married in Kileen, Texas on June 5, 1959. After Army service, they lived in Rolling Meadows and then moved to Arlington Heights, where they have lived for 44 years.
Mrs. Sheffert is survived by her husband and their three children: Kathryn Lingevitch (Dan), David Sheffert (Bridget) and Kristin Hodnett (Mark). Gaye and Gary were ardent square dancers for many, many years until health problems intervened. They then enjoyed making many new friends playing social bridge in the northwest suburbs. Her grandchildren were much of her joy in later life, and she participated in their lives whenever possible. Her desire to see them develop careers, marry, and have great-grandchildren was cut short by her untimely death.
Visitation for Gaye was held at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows, on Sunday, February 22nd, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m.
