Chester “Lewis” Hamilton, 76

Chester “Lewis” Hamilton

    Chester “Lewis” Hamilton, age 76, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away at home in the early hours of Saturday, June 20, 2020 after a long battle with multiple health conditions.
    He was born in Estill County on August 28, 1943, the youngest of five and only son of Chester and Rhoda Hamilton. Lewis was a 1961 graduate of Estill County High School and lived most of his life in Estill County. He retired as an electrician from B&B Electric, Lexington, Kentucky, and was a 59-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #369. Lewis was a 3rd Degree Mason of the Stafford Lodge #562 and a former Shriner. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Irvine.
    Lewis will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was a hard-working man devoted to his family and never late for anything a day in his life. He enjoyed old-time country, bluegrass and gospel music, freshly mowed fields, and a cold beer after a long workday.
    He is survived by his wife and best friend of fifty-eight years, Wilma Lee Osborne Hamilton; three children, Sherry L. Hamilton-Reams (Eddie), Dyrklain L. Hamilton (formerly Deborah), and Stacie L. Simpson (Jeremy); three grandchildren, Daniel R. Isaacs, Sarah F. Thompson, and Gabriel L. Simpson; two siblings, Betty Garrett and Estrada Gamble (Gerald); three nieces and four nephews.
    Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Barbara Flynn (Wayne) and Bonnie Reynolds; a niece, Julie Garrett; and a nephew, Jerry Gamble.
    Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted Monday, June 22, at the funeral home by Pastor Max Hester and Pastor Jack Schoenthaler. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Masonic rites were performed at the cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Daniel Isaacs, Gabriel Simpson, Jerry Flynn, Robert Flynn, Jason Powell, and Paul Powell.
    Honorary pallbearers were Paul Combs, Glyndal Flynn, Zack Riddle, Ricky Garrett and Greg Osborne.

Charles Leon Samples

    Charles Leon Samples, age 67, of Oak Ridge Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
    He was born June 17, 1953 in Lee County and was the son of the late Dewey C. and Kathaleen LeMaster Samples. He was a retired Trane Company employee and a member of the Crystal Church of Christ. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Samples is survived by his wife, Kathy D. Patrick Samples; one son, Jason Charles Samples (Judy), Estill County; one goddaughter, Jaclyn St. Clair Shoop, Fayette County; two sisters: Mary Stamper (Willard), Estill County; and Wilma McIntosh, Lee County; three brothers: Paul Samples (Kathy), Lee County; Bobby Samples (Mattie), Madison County; and Benny Samples, Estill County; a brother-in-law: Kendall Rogers (Kathy), Estill County; five grandchildren: Chyna Samples, Piper Samples, Gryphon Samples, Kanyon Samples and Dylan Hager; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
    He was preceded in death by two siblings, Genevieve Rison and Dewey Samples, Jr.
    Friends may call between 5:30 and 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Private funeral services will be conducted.
    Pallbearers are Kendall Rogers, Bryan Covey, Paul Samples, Jr., Shane Stamper, Jamie Samples and Joey Rison.
    Honorary pallbearers are friends from Trane Company, members of the Crystal Church of Christ, and all his close personal friends.

    Gayola Mae Adams, age 81, of Cobb Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the St. Elizabeth Hospice following a long illness.
    She was born March 10, 1939 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Roy and Bertha Patrick Case. She was a homemaker and member of the Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
    Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Adams.
    She is survived by three daughters: Melanie Bowman, Irvine; Luanna Robinson, Independence; and Karron Adams, South Gate; three sons: Todd Adams, Alexandria; Randy Adams, Louisville; and Darron Adams, Newport; one sister, Aggie Fahlbush, Newport; and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
    Friends may call between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Ronald Roberts. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.

William Roy Howell, Sr.

    William Roy Howell, Sr., age 74, joined the great cloud of witnesses on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
    He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on May 14, 1946 to the late John Howell and Ethel Bowen Howell. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Howell worked as a heavy equipment operator and worked for Building Crafts, Inc. for 32 years. He was a licensed minister with United Pentecostal Church International. He founded and pastored 12 years at Grace Apostolic Church in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
    Left behind to mourn are his wife, Linda McIntosh Howell; four children, Jimmy Howell (Heather), William Howell, Jr., Kimberly Jenks (Shawn), and John Lakes (Jennifer); 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five sisters, Nancy Baker, Sherry Shearn, Doris Howell, Sue Carroll and Kay Merriman; and one brother, Mike Howell.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Howell and Robert Howell.
    Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.

    Sharon Kay Parks, age 72, of Dry Branch Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born May 10, 1948 in Estill County to the late Reverend Joe A. Puckett, Jr. and Bertha Mae West Puckett. She was a homemaker and was a member of the West Bend First Church of God.
    Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, Joe “Shorty” Parks.
    She is survived by one son, Jason Parks (Corinna), Madison County; four sisters: Patricia Long (Edmound), Dianna Puckett, Marilyn (Sam) Dunaway, and Teresa Powell (Marshall), Estill County; one brother, Joie Lee Puckett, Estill County; two grandchildren: Olivia Parks and Abigail Parks; and “Adopted Grandchildren”: Gunner, Jordan, Tagan, Alyee, Kaylee, Emma, Madison, Victoria, Chris, Marley, and Kiaus.
    Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her daughter, Joli Elizabeth “Beth” Parks.
    Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 17, 2020, 1:00 p.m., at the Puckett Cemetery by Bro. James Combs.

Charles Damon Flinchum

    Charles Damon Flinchum, husband of Mary Frances Stamper “Dolly” Flinchum of Beattyville, Kentucky and the son of the late Floyd and Roxie Gross Flinchum, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on January 21, 1948 and departed this life in Beattyville on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 18 days.
    In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by three children, Melissa Dawn Flinchum of Prestonsburg; Timothy Wayne Charles of Irvine; and Anthony Glenn Charles of Piqua, Ohio; seven grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Dennis Flinchum and Patricia Purdue, both of Beattyville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Private funeral services were held.

    Robert Samuel “Bo” Williams, age 88, of Pine Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Irvine Health Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born June 25, 1931 in Estill County and was the son of the late Lewis Williams and Ethel Young Williams. He worked at General Motors and was a member of Green Pastures Church. He lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Neal Williams.
    He is survived by two daughters: Margie Woolery (Lloyd) Teresa Prater (Tim), both of Estill County; one son, Wesley Williams (Betty), Cincinnati; three sisters: Mayfra Isaacs, Estill County; Jean Marshall, and Violet Davenport, both of Madison County; three brothers: Wesley Williams, Jimmy Lee Williams, and Douglas Williams, all of Estill County; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
    Mr. Williams was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Dale Williams; and one grandchild, Ronnie Dale Williams, Jr.
    Funeral services were held Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Lloyd Woolery. Burial was at the Young & Dunn Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Sam Woolery, Jason Woolery, Scott Williams, Matthew Williams, Matt Basham, Brent Estes and Landon Woolery.
    Honorary pallbearers were River Conley and Landen Woolery.

Manford Glenn Richardson

    Manford Glenn Richardson, 79, passed away after a short illness on Friday, June 12, 2020.
    He was born on May 9, 1941 in Estill County, Kentucky to the late Manford and Bessie Arvin Richardson. Glenn had many interest – he spent many years as an L&N Railroad Conductor, owned Wisemantown Market and was the co-owner of Richardson Fish Camp in Kissimmee, Florida. He also owned Glenn’s Auto Sales and Waco BP gas station. Glenn loved gardening, fishing, camping and playing cards. He was an active member of the Bybee United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Webb Richardson; two daughters, Connie Ayres (Sammy) and Selena Royalty; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Dwight Richardson (Ruth Ann); one uncle, Dale Arvin; one aunt, Anna Cox; many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of long time friends and his constant companion, Thunder.
    A walk-through visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, from 4-6 p.m., at the Bybee United Methodist Church, 611 Waco Loop. Social distancing guidelines will be observed. Funeral Services will be private. A live-stream of the service can be viewed on our website Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday.

    Dale Wayne Brandenburg of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the age of 67 years 2 months and 3 days.
    He was a son of Fannie Margrette Crowe Brandenburg and the late Arlie Lee Brandenburg born in Richmond, Kentucky on April 10, 1953. He was a retired factory worker and an artist. He was a former free Mason and Shriner.
    Mr. Brandenburg is survived by his mother, Fannie Margrette Crowe Brandenburg of Irvine; six grandchildren: Aubrey Lambert, Ashton Lambert, Anthony Lambert, Adrienne Petrarca, Nevaeh Petrarca and Isaiah Wesley, all of Pulaski County; three brothers: Eddie Lee Brandenburg (Pat) of Brodhead; Anthony Dean Brandenburg (Marsha) of Frankfort; and Kevin Lasserre Brandenburg (Carol) of Irvine; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
    He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Tami Brandenburg Lambert and Jessica Dale Brandenburg Petrarca; and his father, Arlie Lee Brandenburg.
    Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020, 12:00 Noon, at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, 769 East Main Street, Campton with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Elder Reed. Burial will be at the Brandenburg Family Cemetery, Irvine.

Dorothy Faye Hopper

    Dorothy Faye Hopper, 77, widow of Charles Ray Hopper, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Fountain Circle Nursing Home in Winchester, Kentucky.
    She was born on February 28, 1943 in Winchester to the late Clay and Elizabeth Hampton Kirby. She was a retired cashier from Save-A-Lot and was a member of the Pharris Hill Christian Church.
    Mrs. Hopper is survived by one daughter, Susan Hopper Taulbee (Marion) of Irvine; one son, Scott Hopper (Rita) of Winchester; two sisters, Judy Harris and Kathy Plowman (Ricky); one brother, Jerry Kirby (Kathy) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Susan Quinn and Donna Pelfrey.
    Graveside services will be private.

Michael Lee Barnes

    Michael Lee Barnes, age 71, Dry Branch Road, Irvine, Kentucky, husband of Vada Chapman Barnes, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 after a long illness.
    Mike was born October 31, 1948, in Estill County. He was the son of the late Ace and Midgy Barnes. Mike was a retired employee of the CSX Railroad, retiring in 2008 after 38 years of service. He served on the local school board for 12 years, and was the chairman of the board for 4 years. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, the Kiwanis Club and Irvine First Church of the Nazarene. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bargain hunter. He was a family man, and a good friend to many.
    He was preceded in death by his sons, Mikie Norton and Daryl Barnes; his stepmother, Norma Barnes; and a brother, Pete Barnes.
    Other than his wife of 47 years, Vada; Mike is survived by his daughters, Leah Wiseman and Mickey Tucker (Kenny); three grandsons, Derick Norton (Jo Ellen), Boone Tucker, and Dean Tucker; two granddaughters, Morgan Adekoya (Justin) and Hannah Wiseman; two great grandsons, Hagan Norton and Levi Norton; and his brother, Boone Barnes (Andrea).
    Services will be held at Lewis Funeral Home, Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Derick Norton, Matthew Combs, Boone Tucker, Dean Tucker, Kenny Tucker, Joe Moore and Rick Shastid.

    Hugh Blaire Johnson Jr., age 56, husband of Anna Mae Johnson, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    Mr. Johnson was a native of Jessamine County, born December 31, 1963, a son of Billie Rogers Johnson and the late Hugh B. Johnson Sr.
    Survivors other than his wife Anna Mae, include his daughers: Sherry Fields (Glendon) and Misty Fields (Nathan), both of Beattyville; his son, Josh Johnson (Whitney); his brothers, Benjamin Johnson (Veronica), Barry Johnson (Kathy), and Jimmy Johnson (Renea); his sisters, Nancy Puckett (Jesse), Beverly Tirey (Johnny) and Connie Fox; and his grandchildren: Caitlin Fields, Hunter Fields, Logan Fields, Bentley Johnson, Connor Johnson and Adleigh Johnson.
    Private services were held at the New Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Stamper officiating, followed by burial in the Barnes Mountain Cemetery.
