Millard Lee Banks, 81
Millard Lee Banks, age 81, a resident of the Lee County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Center.
He was born May 9, 1932 in Estill County and was the son of the late Jane Gillespie Banks. He was a taxi driver and a veteran of the United States Navy. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Millard Banks was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Walters Banks.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Banks Gentry, Irvine; two sons: Millard Wayne Banks and Jerry Lee Banks, both of Irvine; and four grandchildren.
Private services were conducted at a later date.

Lizzie Berryman Muncie, 84
Lizzie Berryman Muncie, age 84, of Dry Branch Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
She was born June 12, 1929 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Headley and Annie Abney Berryman. She had worked as a cook at the River Restaurant and had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Mrs. Muncie is survived by her husband, Ray Muncie; her son, Danny Ray Muncie (Rose Marie), Irvine; one sister, Pearl Gritton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Muncie Flynn; one sister, Jessie Lynn Rawlins; and four brothers: Lawrence, Willard, J.W. and Delaney Berryman.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 6, 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Marvin Neal. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Wesley Flynn, Danny Joe Muncie, Shane Spencer, Randy Sutter, Ryan Sutter and Damian Harrison.

Tracy Wallace Woosley, 80
Tracy Wallace Woosley, age 80, husband of Lillian Powell Woosley, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Baptist Health after a short illness.
He was a native of Estill County, born April 28, 1933, a son of the late John Henry and Lou Ellen Finney Woosley. He was a former employee of the Dawson Bridge Company, Bundy Tubing, and the Estill County Road Department. He was a member of the Church of God.
Mr. Woosley was preceded in death by a son, Graydon Woosley; two brothers: Floyd and Wesley Woosley; and six sisters: Eva Witt, Eudell Marcum, Marie Conder, Flora Wolfenbarger, Gladys Woosley and Dolly Woosley.
Survivors include his sons: Glyndon Lewis Woosley (Fayetta), Lenvil Garrett Woosley (Betty), and Wallace Dean Woosley; two brothers: James Eddie Woosley and John Calvin Woosley (Dorothy); a sister, Bethel Robinson (Walter); five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, August 5th at the Lewis Funeral Home, officiated by David Earl Woosley and David Russell Woosley. Burial followed in the Mackey Cemetery. Friends called from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Rose Katherine Robinson, 79
Rose Katherine Robinson, age 79, wife of John W. Robinson, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky, after a short illness.
She was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Chester and Lizzie Mansfield Marcum. She was a retired teacher’s aide, working at Bellevue, Mayfield, and Madison Middle Schools, and was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by three brothers: William Henry Marcum, Glendon Marcum and J.B. Marcum.
Survivors, other than her husband of 59 years, John W. Robinson, include her children, Betty Carpenter (Jerry), David Robinson (Beverly), Billy Robinson (Lisa), and Wesley Robinson (Joyce); her sisters: Bessie Reece, Dessie Burton and Mona “Tootsie” Robinson; her grandchildren: Johnny Robinson, Beth Joyce (David), Krystle Robinson, Cathy Carpenter, Bobby Carpenter (Valerie), Josh Lynch, Earl Wesley “Boo” Robinson, Chris Robinson, Michelle Goforth and Janis; and numerous great-grandchildren also survive as well as a host of nephews and nieces.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 4th at the Heritage Funeral Home, 237 North 2nd Street, Richmond, with Bro. Bradley Johns and Bro. Edwin Lainhart officiating. Burial followed in the Turpin Cemetery at Winston. Friends called anytime after 12:00 Noon until service time.
Pallbearers were Bobby Carpenter, Mike French, Ronnie Rawlins, Josh Lynch, Chris Robinson and Charles Marcum.

Jack Underwood, age 59, of Pea Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home following a long illness.
He was born February 14, 1954 in Estill County and was the son of the late Wesley and Betty Johnson Underwood. He was a drywall contractor and a veteran of the United States Army. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
He is survived by one daughter, Sara Beth Underwood, Irvine; one son, Eric Scott Underwood; Irvine; one sister, Maudie Maddox, Lexington; one brother, Charles Earl “Wolf” Underwood, Irvine; and three grandchildren: John Scott Underwood, Trenton Paul Tuttle and Steven Wesley Johns.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Alverta Riddell, Hazel Plowman and Haley Marie Plowman; and two brothers: Wesley and Jimmy D. Underwood.

Lee Young, age 75, of Little Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was born September 10, 1937 in Estill County and was the son of the late James and Mamie Isaacs Young. He was a retired construction worker and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
Mr. Young is survived by two daughters: Lisa Brandenburg, Scott County; and Selena Miller, Garrard County; two sons: Eddie Young and Steve Young, both of Estill County; five grandchildren: Jonathan Brandenburg, Cheyenne Young, Jeromey Cole, Kristie Baker and Dalton Miller.
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Young: three sisters: Cleta Berryman, Geneva Kelly and Mollie Perry; and two brothers: Phillip and Leslie Young.

Addie B. Estes, age 88, a resident of the Irvine, Kentucky, Health & Rehabilitation Center passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born October 1, 1924 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Wade and Anna Mae Rose Kirby. She was a homemaker and attended the Thomas Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her husband, Masco Estes.
She is survived by two daughters: Geneva Philbeck, Ohio; and Elsie Kirby (Richard), Irvine; three sons: Kenneth Estes (Juanita), Beverly Estes (Glenda), Delbert Estes, Irvine; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by three daughters: Eva Mae Miller, Eunice Robertson and Reva Hardy; and four sons: Rosco, Michael, Obed and Samuel Estes; and one sister, Edna Wood.

Mary Elsie Plowman Osborne, age 90, of Sarvice Hollow Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at her home.
She was born September 1, 1922 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Isaac and Susan McKinney Plowman. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God. She had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Ms. Osborne was preceded in death by her husband, Harlie Osborne.
She is survived by one daughter, Edith Osborne (Donnie Isaacs), Irvine; one son, Ronald Osborne (Helen), Irvine; a son-in-law, Bruce Puckett, Irvine; a brother, Herman Plowman (Lillian), Norwood, Ohio; six grandchildren: Timothy Puckett (April), Venissa Puckett Cross (Chris), Penny Kelley (Andy Newton), Rebecca Young (Jason), Mardy Stamper, and Rennie Renae McKinney (Thomas); 11 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Thedus Osborne Puckett; seven brothers and sisters; one great granddaughter, Cassandra Lynn McKinney; and one great, great grandson.

Barbara Alice Dixon Bell, 81
Barbara Alice Dixon Bell, age 81, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
She was born August 16, 1931 in Lexington, a daughter of the late George Steven and Bertha Florence Baker Dixon. Mrs. Bell was a retired employee of Carhartt Inc. where she performed many administrative tasks throughout the years. She attended Friendship Baptist Church, was an avid reader, a devoted sister and aunt. She enjoyed cooking and studying history.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by four sisters: Inez Dixon Durbin, Lucille Arthur, George Ann McGee and Janice DeSantis.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Wallace, William Ray, Jeffery Dixon; and Mark Thomas Arthur; Lou Catherine McKinney, Tim McGee, John David DeSantis, Paul Christopher DeSantis, and Steven Durbin; and her special caregivers: Marie Dixon, DeVonda Hardy, Ruth Hardy Mansfield and Sheila Hardy.

Geneva Lawson, 77
Geneva Lawson, age 77, who resided in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at her home with family members at her bedside. Mrs. Lawson succumbed after battling a long chronic illness.
She was born in Estill County on May 24, 1936 to the late Floyd B. and Dovie Norton. She was one of their eleven children. Mrs. Lawson lived and attended her primary education in the small community of Pea Ridge in Estill County. After high school she became an ordained minister and enjoyed hearing, watching, and teaching the gospel to others. She was the mother of six children and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by two sisters: Katherine Hall and Nettie Pearl Powers, both of Estill County; her children: Donna Waddell, Michael Dulin, Sandra Reeves, all of Lexington; Terry Holbert of Tampa, Florida; and Timothy Colyer of Goldboro, North Carolina; her grandchildren: Michael D. Dulin, Paul W. Abner, Chris Abner, all of Jessamine County; Michael W. Dulin Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Kyle Dulin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Joshua Cobb of Lexington, Cindy Cobb, Matthew Holbert, Amy Holbert, all of Madison County; Angie Holbert of Apex, North Carolina; Andrea Kelly, Brandon Kelly, both of Estill County; and Angela Webb of Lexington; and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. Lawson was receiving excellent health care at the time of her passing by Hospice of the Bluegrass. We are so thankful for all of their care and assistance. We love you Mother and someday we will all be together again.
Visitation was held at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31st between the hours of 6-9 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 1st, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jason Riddell with burial to follow in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Neal Johnson, age 91, of New Paris, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 28, 2013 at his home, after an extended illness.
He was born February 1, 1922 in Shade, Estill County, Kentucky to Floyd D. and Lilly Lynch Johnson and lived in the Richmond, Indiana area most of his life. He formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from Conrail in 1983. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed gardening and yard sales.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Kathryn; five children: Carolyn S. Horn of Richmond, Indiana; Brenda K Gingrey (Ed Phenis) of New Paris, Ohio, Floyd D. (Linda) Johnson of Huber Heights, Ohio, Vickie D. (Steven) Wheeler of Eldorado, Ohio, and Pamela L. (Darrell) Whalen of Cambridge City, Indiana; 34 grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by an infant son; a son-in-law, Julius Horn; his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 2nd at the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, 222 North 10th Street, Richmond, Indiana, with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial was in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Indiana, with military rites. Friends called 5-8 p.m.. Thursday, August 1st at the funeral home.

Michael Wayne Barnes, age 55, of Main Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born May 7, 1958 in Richmond, KY and was a son of Alvin C. “Dud” Barnes and the late Jeanetta Maxine Jones Barnes Moore. He was a factory worker with Nestle & G.R. Springs and had lived in Estill County all of his life. He attended Ravenna Church of God.
Michael Wayne Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Jean Barnes.

Carol Sue Tuttle Perkins, age 54, of Old Fox Road in Irvine, Kentucky, wife of John Perkins, passed away at her residence on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Born August 16, 1958 in Bourbon County, she was a former factory worker and member of The Body Of Christ Ministries.
She is survived by her parents, Bergin Jr. and Gladys Tuttle of Irvine; her husband, John Perkins of Irvine; one son, Jerry Conrad Jr (Ruthie) of Irvine; and two brothers: Greg Tuttle and Bergin Tuttle III, both of Irvine.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30th at The Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Street, Clay City, Kentucky. Visitation was 5-8 p.m., Monday, July 29th at the funeral home. Burial was in the Wood Cemetery in Irvine.

James Alfred Dickerson, age 78, husband of the late Lela Joyce “Jane” Lynch of 32 years, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013.
He was a native of Estill County, born September 17, 1934, one of eleven children of the late Roy and Alphie Bailey Dickerson. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his beloved children, Ruth Ann and Travis Mitchell Dickerson.
He is survived by his five girls: Ruby (Kenneth) Butler, Aileen (John D.) Wilcox, Mary Jane (Mike) Hensley, Betty Gail Dickerson and Debbie Sue Dickerson Pryor; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 29th at the Lynch/Dickerson Family Cemetery in Cobb Hill with Bro. Barnett officiating. Friends were invited to meet at Lewis Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. and travel in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law, grandchildren, nephews and friends.

Gerry Wayne Puckett, age 53, of Old Fox Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his home, following a long illness.
He was born May 18, 1960 in Estill County and was the son of the late Roy and Alma Hall Puckett. He was a roofer and attended the Full Gospel Evangelistic Ministry. He was a former member of the National Guard. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tipton Puckett; one daughter, Brittany Faye Puckett; Estill County; one son, Gerry Wayne “J.R.” Puckett Jr. (Amanda) Estill County; two sisters: Ann Lewis and Brenda Hawkins, both of Estill County; four brothers: Johnny Puckett, David Puckett, Ronnie Puckett and William Puckett, all of Estill County; and one grandchild, Haley Jo Puckett.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Linda Michelle and Patricia Gail Puckett; two sisters: Linda Puckett and Tootsie Berryman; and four brothers: Alvin, Omer, Donald and Bobby Puckett.

She was a member of the Ravenna Church of God where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the choir. She was a former employee of Winn’s Dry Cleaners and had lived in Estill County all of her life.

Orville Cornelius Richardson, age 93, Blue Run Road, Irvine, Kentucky, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home.
He was born August 23, 1919 in Estill County and was the last surviving child of the late Henry and Martha Rose Richardson.
Orville Richardson was preceded in death by three brothers: James “Jay” Richardson, Wade Monroe Richardson and Wilson Richardson; and eight sisters: Minnie Estes, Milda Estes, Geneva Freeman, Rhoda Stone, Nannie Richardson, Pryse Baker and Flossie Bogie.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Achie F. Walling, 91
Achie F. Walling, age 91, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born January 19, 1922 in Estill County and was a son of the late James S. and Rhoda Abner Walling. He was a Union Carpenter and had lived in Ohio most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Achie Walling was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Gilbert Walling.
He is survived by one sister, Ruth M. Stone, Estill County; and one brother, Robert Walling, Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Louise Barnett and Betty Walling; and two brothers: James Ray Walling and John Walling.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home chapel by Bro. Forrest Turpin. Burial followed in South Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mattie Mae Samples Richardson, age 83
Mattie Mae Samples Richardson, age 83, of Dawes Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at Baptist Health Lexington following a short illness.
She was born August 30, 1929 in Lee County, Kentucky, and was a daughter of the late George Washington and Daisy Laura Kincaid Samples. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mattie Mae Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Richardson.
Survivors include three daughters: Sharron Kaye Marble, Florida; Nikki Leah Richardson and partner, Cathi Johnson, Scott County; and Lisa Michelle Horn and husband, Dwight, Estill County; three sisters: Reva Golden Richardson, Berea; Juanita Irene Wilson, Ohio; and Margaret Evelyn Rawlins, Estill County; three brothers: Hugh Eugene “Shine” Samples, Estill County; Howard Landon Samples, Ohio; and Johnathon Walter Samples, Arizona; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death two sisters, Georgia Imogene Samples and Jessie Ailene Lovins; and one brother, Harold Edward Samples.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home chapel by Bro. Kevin Turpin. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24th at the funeral home.
