    Leighton Winkle, age 91, of South Irvine, Kentucky, the husband of Dora Roberts Winkle, passed away Monday morning, October 28, 2013, at the Marcum & Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    He was born on January 12, 1922 in Estill County, at Leighton, Kentucky, being the son of the late Oscar and Edna Crawford Winkle. He was a retired farmer and automobile dealer, having owned Winkle Auto Sales for over 30 years, and was co-owner of the Mount Sterling Auto Auction. He was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church, a former volunteer fireman and was a former member of the Estill County Fair Board. In 2011 he was inducted into the Estill County Agriculture Hall of Fame. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 164th Infantry Americal Division in the South Pacific. He was a member of the 164th Infantry Association and the American Legion Post 79. As a young man he loved to hunt and fish and being outdoors. Leighton loved his God, his family and friends and his country.
    Survivors include his wife, Dora Roberts Winkle; one son, Winfred Leighton Winkle (Diana Richardson) of Irvine; one daughter, Deborah Dean Winkle of Lexington; three grandchildren: Winfred Leighton Winkle II, James Glenn Winkle (Michele Brady), both of Irvine, and C. J. Cain of Lexington; two special great grandchildren: Abby Lynn Winkle and Emma Kate Winkle; two sisters: Mary Helen Garrett (Jimmy) of Louisville; and Edith Anderson of Hamilton, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Ruth Winkle of Irvine; as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Clinton Winkle; two brothers: Carlo Winkle, and Clay Winkle; three sisters: Geneva Hoover, Lura Fowler, and Mayfra Evans.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31st at the Lewis Funeral Home, 224 Main Street, Irvine, with Bro. Butch Arvin and Bro. Glyndon Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery at South Irvine with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday evening, October 30th at the Lewis Funeral Home in Irvine.
    Pallbearers will be Winfred Leighton Winkle II, James Glenn Winkle, C. J. Cain, Wayne Roberts, Milton Garrett and Roy Dixon Jr.

Addie Mae Richardson Bicknell, 93

    Addie Mae Richardson Bicknell, age 93, of Estill County, Kentucky, the widow of Leonard Bicknell, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Richmond.
    Mrs. Bicknell was born in Estill County on April 24, 1920, the daughter of the late Leslie and Flossie Richardson. She was a homemaker and a dedicated member of the Beaver Pond Christian Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
    Survivors include three daughters: Faye Day, Eva Ramsey and Joyce Webb (Anthony); six sons: Venice Bicknell (Grethel), Ernie Bicknell (Ilena), Kenneth Bicknell (Barbara), Carl Bicknell (Loraine), Randol Bicknell (Penny) and Gary Bicknell (Rene); 17 grandchildren: Linda McClellan, Terry Day, Peggy Young, Robin Bicknell, Jennifer Bicknell, LeeAnn Clapp, Kenna Agee, Amy Bicknell, Gary Lynn Bicknell, Jessica Duerson, Rob Ramsey, Bridgette Settles, Gina Barnes, Phillip Kidwell, Belinda Kidwell, Shawnda Pollitt and Renee Nelson; 23 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Also surviving is a special friend, Dixie Farthing.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Bicknell; and several brothers and sisters.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30th at the Beaver Pond Christian Church, Red Lick Road, Estill County, with Bro. David Bingham, Bro. Glyndon Mays and Bro. Linville Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow in the Kindred Cemetery at Red Lick. Visitation will be held 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, October 29th at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond; and after 12:00 Noon, until service time, Wednesday, at the church.
    Pallbearers will be: Terry Day, Rob Ramsey, Robin Bicknell, Gary Lynn Bicknell, Jeremiah Duerson and Phillip Kidwell.
    Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and her nephew, Harold Richardson Jr.

Geneva Tipton Barnes, 79

    Geneva Tipton Barnes, age 79, of Estill Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    She was born August 27, 1934 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Joe Camden and Mona Marcum Tipton. She worked as a dedicated hairdresser for 47 years and was a member of the Cow Creek Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln “Tim” Barnes.
    She is survived by three daughters: Vada B. Combs, Irvine; Jackie Witt (Roger), Bybee; and Mona Powell (Randy), Irvine; two sisters: Dovie Lynch (Charlie) and Dorothy Potts, both of Beattyville; four grandchildren: Nicholas Witt, Brian Witt, both of Richmond; Ryan Powell (Chyanna) and Heather Powell Patrick (Justin), both of Irvine; and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by severn brothers: Leonard Tipton, William Charles Tipton, Homer Camden Tipton, George Tipton, Hobert Tipton, Anderson Tipton and Rudy Joe Tipton.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Richard Wilkerson. Burial will be at the Beatty Place Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, October 29th at the funeral home.

Ronald Dale Coffey, 58

    Ronald Dale Coffey, age 58, of Summit Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital as the result of an accident.
    He was born July 16, 1955 in Estill County and was the son of Laura Estes Coffey and the late James Coffey. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the Lower Red Lick Holiness Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    He is survived by his wife, Wadette Alexander Coffey; his mother, Laura Estes Coffey, Estill County; two daughters: Pam Coffey and Becky Coffey, both of Estill County; two sons: Scott Coffey (Melissa) and Jason Coffey (April) both of Estill County; two sisters: Carolyn Rogers (Randall), Estill County; and Betty Willis (Tommy) Berea; and seven brothers: Harold Coffey (Becky), Berea; Wade Coffey (Gail), Madison County; Bruce Coffey (Mary), Estill County; Denny Coffey (Sue), Waco; Wayne Coffey (Carolyn) Winchester; Leon Coffey, Estill County; and Ernie Coffey (Debbie) Garrard County; three grandchildren: Brandon, Suezann and Steven Coffey; three step-grandchildren: Cameron, Chandler and Brooklyn Townsend; and his dog, Snowball.
    He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Anthony Coffey.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 29th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Eugene Webb and Bro. Bruce Alcorn. Burial will be at the Red Lick Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, October 28th at the funeral home.

Belva Dean Townsend, 56

    Belva Dean Townsend, age 56, of Rice Station Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, after a long illness.
    He was born May 12, 1957, in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Rudell and Betty Mae Combs Townsend. He was a former employee of Uncle Charlie’s Meats and had lived in Estill County for the past 32 years.
    Mr. Townsend is survived by four brothers: Tim Townsend, Jerry Townsend, both of Irvine; Gary Townsend, Richmond; and Scott Townsend, Berea; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Wayne Townsend.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 28th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Jerry Hatton. Burial will follow in the Combs Cemetery in Lee County.

Robert Lee Turpin, 65

    Robert Lee Turpin, age 65, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013.
    He was born in Estill County on March 31, 1947. He was a former mechanic and a United States Army veteran.
    He is survived by three sons: Robert Lee Turpin Jr. of Colorado, Christopher Turpin of Louisville, and Joshua Turpin of Richmond; one daughter, Rebecca Richardson of Irvine; eight grandchildren; three brothers: Jimmy, Elmo Wayne and Jackie Turpin, all of Irvine; two sisters; Virginia Stambaugh of Germany and Carolyn Dawes of Irvine.
    Mr. Turpin was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Zelma Riddell Turpin.
    Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 28th at the Donnie G Randall Memorial Cemetery in Stanton with military rites.

Ronald David Turner, 66

    Ronald David Turner, age 66, of the Panola Community in Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home.
    Mr. Turner was born in Madison County on November 10, 1946, to the late Ewey Turner and Evelyn Mae Moore Ruff. He had worked for Robinson Tool & Dye and the Bluegrass Army Depot. He was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Kitty Hawk. He loved his dogs, Jake and Jack. Mr. Turner was of the Pentecostal Faith.
    He is survived by his son, Michael Turner (Allison) of Clinton, South Carolina; his brother, Randy Turner (Letrisia) of Irvine, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his brothers: Stevie Turner, Ralph Turner and Danny Turner; and his sister, Judy Turner.
    The family has chosen to have a private service. Burial will follow in the Cedar Cliff Family Cemetery.

    Brigadier General James Elbert Payne III, Retired, age 60, of Old Landing Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a sudden illness.
    He was born October 5, 1952, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was the son of Anna M. Chandler Payne and the late James Elbert Payne Jr. He was a retired Brigadier General with the United States Army and served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, the Iraq War and the Afghan War. He was a member of the VFW and had lived in Estill County for the past eight years.
    He is survived by his wife, Betsy K. Payne; his mother, Anna M. Payne; one sister, Sandra P. Sarafian (Mark), Fort Myers, Florida; nieces and nephews: Tessa Sarafian, Augustus James Sarafian and Luke Sarafian; beloved aunts: Geneva Rush, London; Sylvia Dunn, Irvine; Donna (Richard) McIntire, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; beloved cousins: Jacqueline “Jackie” (Richard) Crouch, Cabot (Gina) Dunn, Michael (Krista) Dunn, Candy (Jon) Tucker, Rob (Gina) House, Travis McIntire, Charlotte (Ted) Hensley, Joanna (Mike) Rush, Eli Alexander, Sheila Hernandez, Celeste Alexander, David Alexander, Zak Crouch, Jeff Crouch and Kayla (Cody) Jackson; and many beloved friends in Irvine and around the world including his fellow officer and friend, John Vanetta.
    He was preceded in death by two beloved aunts: Louise Alexander and Leona Epperson.
    There will be a Celebration of Life Service for General James “Jim” Payne, III held on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at the Payne Farm located at 9820 Old Landing Road, Irvine. (Outdoor service/casual attire recommended). Military Rites will be conducted at the conclusion of the service. We would like to invite Jim’s many friends to attend the service and stay to enjoy dinner and the farm.     Bernice Harrison Hisel, age 93, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Richmond Health & Rehab Complex – Kenwood.
    She was born November 19, 1919 in Jackson County, Kentucky, to Vernon C. and Grace (Miller) Harrison, both of whom preceded her in death. Bernice was a retired teacher having taught for 26 years. She began teaching in one room schools and later taught in a four room school where she taught 7th and 8th grades along with being head teacher. She was a very dedicated teacher. Several of her former students have visited her and told her how much she helped them. She was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church of America.
    Mrs. Hisel is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Hisle of Richmond; two granddaughters: Jonda (Tom) Tippins of Georgetown and Jill Gabbard Taylor of Richmond; two sisters: Eileen McWhorter of London, and Zola Hisel of McKee; and one brother, Herbert Harrison of Richmond.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Laban, Clyde and Beckham Harrison.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 23rd at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Hays officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to time of service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

    Mary Elizabeth Patrick, age 63, of Hardwicks Creek Road, Clay City, Kentucky, wife of David Patrick, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side.
    She was a former Stanton Nursing Home employee.
    She is survived by her husband, David Patrick; two sons: Tommy Baber and Christopher Baber (Nickie), both of Clay City, three grandchildren: Dalton Baber, Dasia Baber, both of Clay City; and Austin Griggs, Winchester; three sisters: Pam Baber of Clay City, Peggy Estes of Stanton, and Tammy Baber of Winchester; nieces and nephews: Emily, David, Cory Jones of Clay City; Angela Marcum of Irvine, Tonya McKinney of Clay City, Amanda Baber of Clay City, Anthony Hall of Mt. Gordon “Flash” Wilson, 88

    Gordon “Flash” Wilson, age 88, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    He was a native of Estill County, born April 5, 1925, a son of the late J. Carl and Anna Winn Wilson. He was a naval veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot. He was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
    Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Lucy Burnett Wilson, and a brother, Edward E. Wilson.
    Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Jane Wilson of Irvine; two sons: Gordon E. Wilson (Pat) of Paris, Kentucky, and William Shelby Wilson (Laraine) of Richmond; a sister, Janet Wilson Jones of Clermont Florida; two grandchildren: G. David Wilson (Sami) of Paris and Laura Camille Baker (Lee) of Richmond; a step-grandchild, Jill Arvin Fulks (Ray); a great grandchild, Samuel Speakes Wilson of Paris; a step-great grandchild, Emilee James Fulks of Richmond; three stepdaughters Angie Flynn, Julie Richardson, and Becky Fowler, all of Irvine; step-grandchildren: Ryan McQueen, Miranda McQueen; Trent, Tiana and Tate Richardson; and Seth Fowler, all of Irvine; and four step-great grandchildren: Zoey and Zaniel McQueen; Adien Keeny and Kristopher McQueen.

    Jenny Ann Williams Jennings, age 66, of Irvine, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2013, after a long illness.
    She was born March 22, 1947, in West Chester, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clarence Terril Sr. and Geneva Thomas Williams.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, C.T. “Bimbo” Williams II; a sister, Ella Lee “Sissie” Williams Cyrus, and by her husband, Fred Jennings of Madisonville.
    Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Irvine First Baptist Church and attended Irvine First Christian Church when able.
    Jenny was a cosmetologist for over 40 years. She also instructed her own beauty school for approximately 15 years.
    Mrs. Jennings is survived by a daughter, Jamie Cornn; a son, Justin Jennings; a grandson, Jamien Cornn; and a great granddaughter, Justice Cornn. She also leaves behind a brother, B.F. “Red” Williams Sr. (Linda) of Irvine; and other survivors, including eight nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, and 12 great, great nieces and nephews.
    Jenny was loved and cared for and considered a friend and sister by Treva (Wilson) Roberts. Jenny was an accomplished guitarist and pianist and could sing like an angel.
    A private family service will be conducted at a later date.

Louis W. Cox, 64

    Louis W. Cox, age 64, a resident of the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky, following a long illness.
    He was born March 12, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late Robert and Eva Richardson Cox. He was a marketing and advertising specialist and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Cox is survived by one sister, Anna Lee Rogers, Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Charles Cox, Irvine; a special sister-in-law, Eva Cox, Irvine; three nephews and five nieces.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers: Earl Ray Cox and Glyndon Cox.

Geraldine Burton Griffith, 70

    Geraldine Burton Griffith, age 70, of Walker Pike in Paint Lick passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Madison Health & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Kentucky, after a long illness.
    She was born June 17, 1943 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Ephram and Lilly Sparks Burton. She was a former nurses' assistant with the Kentucky Veterans Center and was a member of the Whitehouse Baptist Church. She had lived in Paint Lick for the past 30 years.
    She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee Griffith; one son, Albert Lee Fowler, Paint Lick; one sister, Cora Sue Phillips, Beattyville; two brothers: Charles Ova Burton, Powell County; and William Earl Burton, McKee; and four grandchildren: Brittany Nicole Fowler, Adrien Scott Fowler, Caden James Fowler and Shelby Lynn Fowler.
    She was preceded in death by two sons: James Roy Fowler and Adrien Lovoy Griffith; three sisters: Sarilda Sparks, Mary Lou Isaacs and Gladys Tyree; and one brother, Henry Burton.

Julie Ann Morris Watkins, 52

    Julie Ann Morris Watkins, age 52, of Sugar Hollow Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, after a short illness.
    She was born March 16, 1961 in Fayette County and was the daughter of the late Robert Lloyd Morris and Doris Ann Bennett Whited. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Damer Wesley Watkins.
    She is survived by one daughter, Carrie Ellen Sturgill, Estill County; one son, Damer Wesley Watkins II, Estill County; one sister, Louise Howard, Nicholasville; four brothers: Robert Lloyd Morris, Ricky Whited, Wayne Whited and Timmy Whited, all of Lexington; and five grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by four brothers: John, David, Mark and Michael Morris.
    Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 19th at the Watkins Cemetery by Bro. Johnathon Bennett.

James Roy “Jimmy” Bryant, 59

    James Roy “Jimmy” Bryant, 59, husband of Peggy Tipton Bryant, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013.
    He was a son of the late Roy Thomas and Mary Rainey Bryant, born in Madison County on December 2, 1953, and had lived in Estill County his entire life. He worked as a local merchant in Bryant’s Paint Store. He was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Post #79. Jimmy was a talented woodworker.
    Survivors other than his wife of over 40 years, Peggy, include his brother, Tommy “Tobo” Bryant (Jane); his nieces: Elizabeth Bryant and Kara Williams (Jason); his nephew, Jonathan Newton; his sister-in-law, Marcia Newton (David); and his special brother, James “Pork” Muncie.
    Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17th, at the Lewis Funeral Home with Joe Lahrmer officiating. Burial followed in the Barnes Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16th at the funeral home.

Edward Burley “E.B.” Conner, 75

    Edward Burley “E.B.” Conner, age 75, of Rice Station Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013,at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
    He was born May 20, 1938 in Paris, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Leonard Garland and Bessie Lainhart Conner. He was a retired supervisor with Belden Wire & Cable and was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
    He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Portwood Conner; three sisters: Carolyn Hayes (Bob), Economy, Indiana; Rene Shockney (Roy), Richmond, Indiana; and LuEllen George, Williamsburg, Indiana; two brothers: Charles Wayne Conner (Beulah), Economy, Indiana; and Leonard Conner (Harlina), Williamsburg, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews
    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Jean Oakes and Donna May.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kirt Scott, Bro. Leo Crowe and Bro. Bill Welker. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, October 14th at the funeral home.

Harmon Lee Hamblin, 79

    Harmon Lee Hamblin, age 79, of Gibson Bay Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Baptist Health in Lexington following a short illness.
    He was born September 8, 1934 in Richmond, and was the son of the late James Anderson and Adrienne Kearns Hamblin. He was a Kentucky state employee and a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. He was also a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge 137 F&AM and the Eastern Star. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Hamblin was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Fox Hamblin.
    He is survived by one daughter, Beth Pack (Alan), Burlington; one son, Wayne Hamblin (Theresa), Estill County; two sisters, Lois Jo Eversole, Richmond; and Eva Mae Combs, Buckhorn; three brothers: Foster Hamblin (Helen), Texas; Russell Hamblin (Nancy Lee), Richmond; Anthony Hamblin (Virginia), Georgetown; and six grandchildren: Jennifer Copper, Joshua Hamblin, Alyssa Pack, Abby Pack, Nicole Murphy and Justin Burgess.
    He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Bernice Hamblin; two sisters: Ronola Hamblin and Dronna Hamblin; and one brother, James Hamblin.
    Memorial services were conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 16th at the Waco Baptist Church by Bro. Fred Livingood. Friends called after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church.

Franklin Dixon, 89

    Franklin Dixon, age 89, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington, after a short illness.
    He was born September 22, 1924 in Estill County and was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Oma Floyd Dixon. He was a farmer and logger and was a member of the River Drive Christian Church. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Murphy Dixon; two daughters: Pamela Whitesides (Richard), Richmond; and Sheila Goodnight (Randall), Rutland, Ohio; one son, Jerry Dixon (Sheri), Irvine; one sister, Anna Maude Durbin, LaGrange, Ohio; one brother, Roy Dixon Jr., Irvine; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters; Katherine Goodwin, Hallie Dixon and Hattie Dixon; and four brothers: Roy, Earl, Troy and Brookshire Dixon.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 14th at the River Drive Christian Church by Bro. Odis Clark. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, October 13th at the funeral home.

Joe Dudley Dozier II, 61

    Joe Dudley Dozier II, age 61, of Pineway Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 9, 1952 in Madison County and was the son of the late Joe Dudley and Laura Eunice Tipton Dozier. He was a retired foreman with Trane Company and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion and the 40th & 8th. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    He is survived by his daughter, Karen Dozier, Irvine; three sisters: Sandra Williams (Paul), Winchester; Judy Abney (Donald), Irvine; and Libby Sipple (Harry), Panama City, Florida; one grandchild, Ashleigh Dozier, Irvine; one uncle, Hugh Dozier (Dawanna), Waco; one niece, Katie Williams; two nephews: Kenny Griffin and Mark Williams; one great nephew, Harry “Prince” Williams; and one great niece, Anna Kate Williams.
    Graveside services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 14th at the Sunset Memorial Gardens by Bro. Ron Montgomery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, October 13th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

    Isaac Napier, age 83, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born April 7, 1930 in Perry County and was the son of the late Floyd and Middie Spencer Napier. He was a retired supervisor with CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Irvine United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Krypton, Kentucky. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Napier is survived by his wife, Amanda Campbell Napier; one daughter, Maxine Puckett (Doug), Estill County; two sons: Rick Napier (Jenny), and Isaac Napier Jr., both of Estill County; one sister, Faye Ray, Georgia; two brothers: Burns Napier and Bob Napier, both of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lucinda and Ruby; and three brothers: Rex, Floyd Jr. and Will.

    Connie Jane Collett Richardson, age 55, of South Hudson Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at her home.
    She was born April 30, 1958 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Richardson Collett. She was an employee of Nestle USA and had lived in Estill County all of her life.
    Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Glenn Richardson; one daughter, Audrey Rachel Richardson, Irvine; one sister, Paula Murphy (Roy “Pokey”), Estill County; one grandchild, Amillia Adams; and one half-brother, Darrell Richardson.
    Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Frank Bryan Thompson, Jr., 90

    Frank Bryan Thompson Jr., age 90, Lexington, Kentucky, widower of Edna Spivey Thompson, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born in Ravenna, on December 12, 1922, to the late Frank B. Thompson Sr. and Tina Edds Thompson. He retired as an engineer from CSX Railroad after 50 years. Frank was a 32-degree Mason, a member of Devotion Lodge #160, and a member of the Oleika Shrine. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman, and was a member of the Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club. When the Civil War locomotive 'The General' was brought to Lexington before retiring to Kennesaw, Georgia, Frank was the engineer.
    He is survived by four children: Margaret Thompson Drewal, Chicago, Illinois; Carol Brooks (William M.D.), Rebecca Thompson, and Gary Scott Thompson, all of Lexington; two grandchildren: Shannon Brooks English (Richard D.) and Lindsay Brooks Brugh (Christopher), both of Lexington; two great grandchildren: Evelyn Peri Brooks English and Eleanor Cody English; two brothers: James B. Thompson, Tokyo, Japan; and King Albert Thompson, Niceville, Florida; two sisters: Anna Ruth VanCleve (William C.), Ravenna; and Mary Ellen Smith, Paso Robles, California; and two sisters-in-law: Beverly Thompson, Ravenna; and Mary Lee Thompson, New Albany, Indiana.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Cody Thompson and Gene Wallace Thompson.
    Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8th at the Lexington Cemetery.
