KSP Investigates Collision in Lee County

    The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a collision involving a school bus that happened around 3:48 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, on HWY 52, in Lee County.
    The initial investigation has revealed that Timothy W. Osborne, 50 years old of Beattyville, was driving a school bus on Blaines Branch road. While making right turn on KY 52, the school bus crossed into the west bound lane, striking a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Thomas R. Reese, 70 years old of Beattyville. Osborne the overcorrected, ran off the roadway and over an embankment. The bus was occupied by 20 children. One child was transported by ambulance to the Jackson Hospital in Breathitt County with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
    The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Ty Robinson. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Lee County EMS, Lee County Fire & Rescue.

KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Madison County

    The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, is investigating a fatal collision that happened just before 5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2015, on I-75 north bound at the 97 mile marker in Madison County.
    The initial investigation indicates that a single vehicle was traveling north bound on I-75 when it left the roadway. After overturning, the vehicle came to rest on the right side of the interstate.
    As a result of the collision, one passenger was ejected from the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. The other passenger was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
    The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper John Moore. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Madison County EMS, Madison County Fire & Rescue, and the Madison County Coroner.
    The initial investigation has revealed that William G. Brewer of Richmond, lost control of his 1995 Chevrolet van while driving north bound on I-75 at the 97.2 mile marker. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and up an embankment overturning. As a result of the collision, the passenger a Patricia Hobson 54 years old of Irvine KY, was ejected from the vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries. Hobson was pronounced deceased at the scene by Madison County Coroner. The driver, William G. Brewer, was transported to University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

KSP Investigates Fatal House Fire in Estill County

    The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called at approximately 6:51 a.m. EDT, on Saturday, May 23, 2015, in reference to a possible fatal house fire on Ann St. in Estill County.
    Estill County Fire Department located two people deceased in the residence. The cause of the fire and deaths are under investigation.
    The Kentucky State Police is asking anyone who observed any suspicious activity in the area or with any information to call (859) 623-2404 or toll free at (800) 222-5555.
    The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Arson Investigator Pat Alford. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel,Irvine Fire Department,Irvine Police Department,Estill County Coroner’s Office, and State Fire MarshallOffice.

Delma Grace Fox

    Delma Grace Fox, 81, left us on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, with her daughters Joy and Lisa by her side at the Mercy Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon.
    She was born May 21, 1933, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Hume and Maude Alcorn. She was blessed with 10 siblings and four of her own children. Her interests included family, gardening, homemaking and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her husband, Norris Fox, at their home in Sutherlin, Oregon, before his passing in June 2005. She had a great love of her children and grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Fox.
    Delma is survived by her siblings, Juanita, Mildred, Tom, Jim, Ray and Garry; her children: Joy (Susie) Steinkraus, son-in-law Ray Steinkraus, Lisa Fox and Timothy Fox; grandchildren Matthew Steinkraus, Laura Fox, Emily Fox, Allysa Gonzales, Levi Gonzales, and Sierra Gonzales; and great grandson Noah Treadwell.
    A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Congleton Cemetery, Doe Creek, Irvine, Ky.

Hallie Lee Spivey, age 78

    Hallie Lee Spivey, age 78, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
    She was born February 15, 1937 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Turner Rawlins and Elizabeth Townsend Rawlins Plick. She was a member of the Irvine First Church of God and had lived in Estill County all of her life.
    Mrs. Spivey is survived by two sons: Turner Earl Rawlins (Mary) and Luther David Spivey; four grandchildren: Chris Rawlins, Michelle Rawlins, David Allen Spivey and Austin Lee Spivey; several great grandchildren; special nieces: Sue Getty and Betty Sturdivant; special friend, Ethel Richardson; special cousin, Thelma Flynn; and a host of friends – especially the staff and nurses at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Care Plus
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 1st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Marvin Neal and Bro. Jerry Rose. Burial was at the Rawlins Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, May 31st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

Rebecca Estes Mays, 80

    Rebecca Estes Mays, age 80, of Possum Run Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    She was born February 4, 1935 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late John W. and Fannie Hamilton Estes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Evangelistic Ministry. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Mays was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Mays.
    She is survived by three daughters: Emma Wallace (Clarence), Estill County; Lillie Martin, Indiana; and Sarah Richardson (Larry), Estill County; two sons: Jessie Mays, Jackson County; and Tommy Mays (Opal), Estill County; two sisters: Vitula Johnson, Lee County; and Donna Bennett, Owsley County; 15 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two sons: Johnny and David Mays; three sisters: Susie Estes, Margaret Collins and Geneva Newton; and one brother, Arco Estes.
    Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Larry Collins. Burial was at the Beatty Place Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, May 30th at the funeral home.

Dorothy Williams Gabbard, 78

    Dorothy Williams Gabbard, age 78, of Ann Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at her home.
    She was born May 8, 1937 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Omer and Georgia Gilbert Williams. She was a former employee of the Richmond Glove Factory and was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Indiana.
    Mrs. Gabbard passed away with her husband of over 60 years, Tracy Gabbard.
    She is survived by two sisters: Elsie King and Rosa Lee Richardson, both of Estill County; one brother, Gary Wayne Williams, Estill County; and several nieces and nephews.
    Mrs. Gabbard was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Williams.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Adrian McKinney and Bro. Ricky Isaacs. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, May 29th at the funeral home.

Tracy Gabbard, 82

    Tracy Gabbard, age 82, of Ann Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at his home.
    He was born October 27, 1932 in Estill County and was a former employee of Wallace & Meadow and the Hutton Casket Company. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Indiana and had lived in Estill County the past 7 years.
    Mr. Gabbard passed away with his wife of over 60 years, Dorothy Williams Gabbard.
    He is survived by several in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Patricia Ann Wiseman Hobson, 56

    Patricia Ann Wiseman Hobson, age 56, of Richmond, Kentucky, died Saturday, May 23, 2015.
    She was a native of Estill County, born July 11, 1958, a daughter of Margaret Munice Wiseman and the late Doyal Wiseman. Mrs. Hobson was a social worker in Fayette County.
    Survivors, other than her mother Margaret, include her son, Elijah Martin (Ashley); her daughter, Jessica Martin; her brother, Michael Wiseman (Clara); her sister, Teresa Edmonson (James); and her granddaughter, Roslyn Sophia Langley.
    A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4th at the Oakdale Cemetery.

William Martin Montie, 67

    William Martin Montie, age 67, of Blackburn Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center following a long illness.
    He was born April 1, 1948 in Wyandotte, Michigan and was the son of the late Gilbert and Dorothy Egan Montie. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion. He was a former employee of Kokoku and had lived in Estill County the past 21 years.
    He is survived by his wife: Janet Lynn Hymer Montie; two daugthers: Stacey Camden, Irvine; and Tammy Baldwin (Joe), Michigan; four sons: William Matthew Montie, Michigan; Richard Allen Montie (Tammy), North Carolina; Gilbert Martin Montie, LaGrange; and Steven Montie (Naomi), Richmond; one brother, Gil Montie, Virginia; 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
    Mr. Montie was preceded in death by one sister, Terri Montie; and one grandchild.

Beulah Woosley Harrison, 97

    Beulah Woosley Harrison, 97, widow of Elmer Lee Harrison, died Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    She was a retired employee of Brown and Williams Tobacco Company, She was a homemaker, and member of the White Oak Church of God. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and loved going to church.
    Other than her husband, Elmer, she was preceded in death by her five brothers: Raymond Woosley, Fred Woosley, Francis Woosley, Damon Woosley, and James Clay Woosley; and two step-children: Betty Holbrook and David Holbrook.
    Survivors include her daughters, Loretta Stacy (Jerry), Charlotte Rachford, Nettie Wiseman (Eugene), and Ruby Webb(Kenneth); her sons: Dallas Harrison (Lyda), Darrell Harrison (Janet), and Lloyd Harrison (Pamela); 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 16 great, great grandchildren; three step-daughters: Judith Akers, Robin Woosley, and Linda Wiseman; one step-son Bona Holbrook; her brother, Allen Woosley Jr; and one sister, Della Mae Barnes.
    Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 25th at the White Oak Church of God, with Bro. Glendon Woosley officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24th at the Lewis Funeral Home, and from 11:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, at the church.

Tammy Jo Harkins, 56

    Tammy Jo Harkins, age 56, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
    She was born November 24, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Sylvia Birch McKenzie. She was a homemaker and attended the Rice Station Christian Church.
    Ms. Harkins is survived by four sons: Rodney Harkins (Billie Jo), Cincinnati, Ohio; Bradley Harkins (Charity), Joey Harkins (Amy), and Joshua Harkins, both of Irvine; one brother, Darrell McKenzie, Cincinnati, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Irene Anglin McGlothen, 79

    Irene Anglin McGlothen, age 79, of Cow Creek Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born September 26, 1935 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late Seab and Dovie Evans Anglin. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lee McGlothen.
    Mrs. McGlothen is survived by six sons: Charles Donald McGlothen, Richmond; Bobby Dale McGlothen, Lexington; Ricky Lynn McGlothen (Trece), Georgetown; Michael Lee McGlothen (Debra), Woodford County; Mark Allen McGlothen (Cindy) and Anthony Glenn McGlothen (Anita), Lexington; one sister, Dora Richardson, Estill County; two brothers: Ronnie Anglin and Delmar Anglin, both of Richmond; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Hamm, Marie Pearson, Aline McKinney and 1 brother, Boyd Anglin.

Charles D. Robinson, 72

    Charles D. Robinson, age 72, of Eli Sparks Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his home, following a long illness.
    He was born August 18, 1942 in Estill County and was the son of the late Donald and Edna Newman Robinson. He was a construction worker and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Tuggle Robinson; three daughters: Sherry Robinson, Michelle Hoover, and Tonja Miller, all of Estill County; one son: Shawn Robinson, Estill County; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one son, Tony Robinson; and two grandchildren: Dustin Young and Tyler Miller.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23rd at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Alfred Webb. Burial was at the Robinson Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Funeral Home.

Virginia Lee Donahue Cole, 72

    Virginia Lee Donahue Cole, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her home in Racine, Wisconsin after a short illness.
    She was born September 20, 1942, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late John and Anna Staton Donahue.
    Ms. Cole was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth “Jaybird” Donahue and Harold Donahue; six half-brothers: Fred Farthing, Oliver Phoenix, Ernest Phoenix, Forest Ward “Happy” Donahue, James Harvey Donahue Sr., and Brown Willie Donahue; and two half-sisters: Willie Ruth Walton and Mary Frances Estes.
    Survivors include her significant other, Dennis Erickson or Racine, Wisconsin; one brother, Ray Farthing (Kay) of Hesperia, California; two daughters: Michaela Cole and Teresa Thacker (Hoy Van), both of Irvine; two grandsons: Michael Thacker and Jason Thacker, both of Irvine; a half-sister, Sarah Jewel Donahue Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services were held Friday, May 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Beverly Arvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 2:00 p.m. until service time, Friday, at the funeral home.

Minnie Isaacs Durham, 72

    Minnie Isaacs Durham, age 72, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    She was a native of Jackson County, born April 17, 1943, a daughter of the late Stanley and Gracie Moore Isaacs.
    Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her grandson, Josh Durham; and her brother, Lloyd Isaacs.
    Survivors include her children: Charles Andrews (Jane), Johnny Collins (Retha), and Gracie Mae Ray; and her grandchildren: Duane Andrews (Sara), Jessica Henry (John), Jennifer Johnson (Timothy), Chris Stepp (Bethany), Jeremie Stepp, Josh Stepp (Kristin), Jennifer Atkins (Charlie), Jessica Collins, Kerri Collins, Chad Estes, Evon Estes, Britney Nicole Stamper, and Heather Ray Allen,
    Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20th at the Russell Flat Springs Cemetery with Bro. Carl Dennis officiating.
    Pallbearers were Farrel Marcum, James Woolery, Brandon Woolery, Duane Anderws, Duke Brinegar, Tyler Leach, and Elmer Stamper.
