    Ivan Louis Miller, age 73, died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at his residence.
    He was a native of Estill County, born December 26, 1941, a son of the late Hiram and Dorothy Plowman Miller. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.
    Survivors include his sister, Lowana Kilburn; two nieces and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 16th, at 12:00 Noon, at the Sparks Cemetery on Barnes Mountain.

Micky Randall Riddell, 44

    Micky Randall Riddell, age 44, of Pea Ridge Road, Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at his residence.
    He was a native of Estill County, born November 26, 1970, a son of Brenda Joyce Hardy Riddell and the late Victor Riddell Jr. He was construction worker.
    Survivors include his mother, Joyce Riddell; his sons: Noah Riddell, James Tyler Riddell, and Zachary Allen Riddell; his daughter, Kenna Michelle Riddell; his brothers: Gabriel Riddell and Isaiah Riddell; his sisters: Cindy Freeman, Victoria Riddell, and Savannah Riddell; his granddaughter, Tyrah Elizabeth Romans; his niece, Daven Freeman; his nephew, Austin Freeman; and special friend Amy Farthing.
    Private services were held.
    Pallbearers were Ran Hall, Noah Riddell, Austin Freeman, Earl Estes Jr., Bobby Carroll, and Randall Hall Jr..
    Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Riddell, Kenna Riddell, Daven Freeman, and Loretta Jones.

Mabel Jean Day

    Mabel Jean Day, age 72, grandmother of Paul Day of Irvine, died Wednesday September 9, 2015 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
    She was born March 29, 1943 in Clay City, Kentucky.
    Mrs. Day is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay Robinson and Gladys Fern "Hazens" Robinson; two brothers: Kermit Robinson and Chalmer Robinson; and two sisters: Allene Robinson Fryman (and her husband Buster) and Maxine Banks (and her husband Leonard).
    She is survived by her husband, Paul Day; two sons: Paul Bradley Day and Kelvin Day; five stepsons: Steve, Wayne, Danny, Larry, and Ralph Day; one stepdaughter; Vicki Ashley (Gayle); and two sisters: Geraldine Poe (Troy) and Vennie Coldiron (her husband Roy preceded her in death). She was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
    Visitation was held at Spring Valley Funeral & Cremation Service, 1217 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana on Sunday, September 13th, 4-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Spring Valley on Sunday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. An additional service was held at Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, 98 5th Avenue in Clay City, Kentucky at 3:00 p.m. Burial was in the Poe Cemetery.

Terry Rawlins, 62

    Terry Rawlins, age 62, of Sycamore Street in Irvine, Kentucky, widower of Debbie Roberts, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    He was a native of Estill County, born January 7, 1953, a son of the late Edgar and Haley Dawes Rawlins. Mr. Rawlins was a former employee of Carhartt and was a manager for Ryan's Steak House. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the United States National Guard.
    Mr. Rawlins was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Edgar Rawlins; and his brother-in-law, Roger Milby.
    Survivors include his sons: Steven Terry Roberts (Cassie), and Brian Roberts; his sisters: Virginia Lee Wiseman, Shirley Milby, and Kathy Rawlins; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Rawlins; several nephews and a niece.
    Services were held Monday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home with Allen Rawlins and Stanley Hutchinson officiating. Burial followed in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Johnnie Patrick, Jack Rawlins, Randall Wiseman, Steve Lemaster, Pete Walling, William David Rawlins, Stacy Winkler, and Paul Riddell.
    Honorary pallbearers were Glen Rawlins, Robert Patrick, Jaw Rawlins, Jerry Rawlins, Monte Martin, Steve Roberts, and Mike Rawlins.

Edith Gordon Worrell, 87

    Edith Gordon Worrell, 87, wife of Doug Worrell, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at her home after a long illness.
    She was a native of Estill County, born January 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Lee and Delitha Fox Gordon, and she was raised by Anse and Ninn Winkler. She was a member of the Crooked Creek Christian Church, and a homemaker.
    Mrs. Worrell was preceded in death by her brothers: Arnold Gordon and Everett Gordon; her half brothers: Johnny, Elbert and Sherman Gordon; her sisters: Jeanette Good, Margie Phillips, and Irene Renfro; and her foster sister, Christine Thomas.
    Survivors, other than her husband Doug, include her daughters: Joyce Puckett (Larry) and Sheila Henry (Ronnie); her son, Phillip Worrell (Teresa); her foster sister, Daisy Tuttle; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
    Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. D. Estes officiating. Burial followed in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 11th at the funeral home.

James Donald Roberts, 82

    James Donald Roberts, age 82, of Winchester Road, Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at his home following a long illness.
    He was born November 15, 1932, in Estill County, the son of the late M.C. and Fannie Mays Roberts. He retired from IBM and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict with the United States Navy.
    Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Nancy Patrick Roberts; two daughters: Donna L. Roberts-Luttrell (Parker), Chicago; and Sandi Thomas (Mitch), Lexington; one son, Phillip P. Roberts (Jean), Lexington; one sister: Dora Winkle, Estill County; four brothers: Clayton Roberts, Lexington; Lloyd Roberts, Paul Roberts, both of Estill County; and Wayne Roberts, Lexington; seven grandchildren: James Key, Clinton Roberts (Sarah), Megan Roberts, Patrick Roberts, Paige Luttrell, Austin Thomas, and Jacob Roberts; and two great grandchildren: Archer and Wendy Roberts.
    In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five sisters: Ida Mae Freeman, Cora Wilson, Lois Nugent, Hazel Tomes, and Ruby Smyth.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Glendon Mays with burial following in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Thursday, until service time at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Patrick Roberts, Austin Thomas, Jacob Roberts, James Key, Winfred Winkle II, and Jeff Roberts.

Lettie Blanton Stacy, 87

    Lettie Blanton Stacy, 87, widow of Carl Stacy, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015.
    She was born on March 21, 1928 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Lewis and Florence Woolery Blanton. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, gardening and sewing.
    Mrs. Stacy is survived by one daughter, Judy Brock (Lee Roy); five sons: Charles Stacy (Mae), Glenn Stacy, David Stacy (Betty), Doug Stacy (Gina) and Larry Stacy (Angie); a daughter-in-law, Joyce Stacy; one sister, Zora Moore; two brothers: William Blanton (Barbara) and Mac Blanton; 15 grandchildren: Tonya, Amanda, Stephen, Dale, Lydia, Charlene, Nicki, Aundrea, Matt, Brian, Becky, Tyler, Rachel, Jennifer and Ashley; 19 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tony Stacy; a sister, Cora Louetta Blanton; and four brothers: Ellis, Nelson, Glyndon and Elbert Blanton.
    Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10th at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Rev. Forrest Turpin officiating. Burial followed at Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday evening, September 9th at the funeral home.
    Family members served as pallbearers.

Johnny B. Rison, 85

Johnny B. Rison

    Johnny B. Rison, age 85, husband of Barbara Williams Rison, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, after a long illness.
    He was born June 29, 1930 in Estill County, a son of the late Earl and Rachel Embry Rison. He was a member of the Millers Creek First Church of God for over 50 years, having served in the past as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the board of trustees; a retired employee of the Irvine Community TV, and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was a member of the Estill County Golf Club, a former little league baseball coach, a church league softball coach, and played in the Bluegrass Baseball league until the age of 36.
    Mr. Rison was preceded in death by his brother, Tracy Rison; and his sister, Kathryn Cornelius.
    Survivors include his wife Barbara; two sons: Joel Barton Rison (Sue) and William Phillip Rison (Paula), both of Mt. Sterling; his brothers: Dwight Rison and Clarence Rison; his sisters: Louise Rogers, Elizabeth Fielder, Ida Mae Ashcraft, Sue Albritton, and Blanche Miller; four grandchildren: Rebecca Chase (Radley), Daniel Isaac Rison, Lindsay Maples (Austin), and Colby Rison; two step grandchildren: Mendy Evans and Missy Ryder (Jeff); two great grandchildren: Jules Chase and William Maples; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services were held at Millers Creek First Church of God on Thursday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Merle Travis officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Lewis Funeral Home, and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
    Pallbearers were Colby Rison, Daniel Rison, Austin Maples, Radley Chase, Patrick Lay, and Jeff Ryder.

    Laura Belle Jones Fox, 86, widow of Roy Fox, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center after a long illness.
    She was a native of McClure, Virginia, born April 3, 1929, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ella Bach Jones. She was a retired employee of the Westinghouse company. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and she loved sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
    Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her son, George Lee Fox; her daughter, Nanette Robinson; and her brothers: Oscar, Fred, A.J., James, and Omar Jones;
    Survivors include her son Jerry Ray Fox (Denise); her daughter. Eloise Mullins (Gary); nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Sherl Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Hoover Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8th at the funeral home.

Alton Godsey

    Alton Godsey, age 74, of Tuttle Road in Irvine, Kentucky, husband of Delois Godsey, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington.
    Born September 15, 1940 in Perry County, he was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired machine operator, and a member of the Morris Creek First Church of God.
    Mr. Godsey is survived by his wife, Delois Godsey of Irvine; one son, Kelvin Elam (Dorie) of Lexington, three daughters: Pam Smith (Martin) of Georgia, Theresa Godsey–Schlegel (David) of Toledo, Ohio; and Amy Godsey (Shannon Lawson) of Irvine; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Malcolm Godsey Jr. (Cindy) of Stanton.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Sr. and Emeline Grigsby Godsey; one brother, Roy Lee Godsey; and one sister, Alma Wise.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 7th at the Morris Creek First Church of God with Pastor Raymond Tipton officiating. Friends visited Sunday, September 6th from 6-9 p.m. at the church.

Claude Case Jr., 86

    Claude Case Jr., age 86, husband of Ailene Smith Case, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, surrounded by his family.
    He was a native of Estill County, born June 13, 1929, a son of the late Claude and Ella Stamper Case. He was a retired employee of Bundy Tubing, and member of the Cobb Hill Crossroads Community Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar, baseball, bird and animal watching, and reading his bible daily.
    Mr. Case was preceded in death by his brother, Truman Case; and his sisters: Audrey and Ovella Case.
    Survivors, other than his wife of 67 years, Ailene, include his daughters: Ava Jewell Rogers (Raven), Debbie Patrick (Elwood), Connie Sue Case, and Vonda Dunn (Ralph); his sons: Johnny Case (Missy), and Gary Edward Case (Jean); his brothers: Glen Case (Dorothy), Willie Case (Bernice), and Dennis Case (Kay); sisters: Janice Burton (Randall), and Frances Hall (Tom); his grandchildren: David Rogers, Chris Rogers, Melissa Henning, Woody Patrick, Eric Patrick, Casey Kirby, Darla Dunn, and Chandra Dunn; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services were held Sunday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Cobb Hill Crossroads Community Church with Bros. Elwood Patrick, Gainus Rogers, and Larry Frymyer officiating. Burial followed in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called at the church after 6 p.m., Saturday, September 5th and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
    Pallbearers were David Rogers, Chris Rogers, Woody Patrick, Eric Patrick, Gary Case, and Ralph Dunn.

Larry Douglas Isaacs, 62

    Larry Douglas Isaacs, age 62, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Berea Hospital.
    He was a native of Madison County, born May 28, 1953 to the late Charlie Edward and Dorothy Alice McCollum Isaacs. Larry had worked as a fork lift operator and mowed yards. He was of the Holiness faith and in his spare time he liked to fish.
    Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley Isaacs of Berea; a daughter: Stacy Isaacs of Richmond; two stepsons: Johnathan Stamper (Angie) of Waco; and Darrell Stamper Jr. of Berea; a sister: Linda Gordon (Melvin) of Irvine; and two brothers: Clarence Isaacs (Sandy) and Granvel Isaacs (Carolyn) of Berea. Ten grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Isaacs.
    Funeral services for Larry were at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 4th at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Berea. Burial followed in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, September 3rd at the funeral home.

Ruby Anglin Willis

    Ruby Anglin Willis, 79, Berea, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at her home.
    She was born May 5, 1936, in Madison County to Willie K. and Nancy Powell Anglin, both of whom preceded her in death. She was retired from Eastern Kentucky University housekeeping division and of the Holiness faith.
    Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert Willis Jr.; two daughters: Bonnie Harrison and Norma Gadd (Bobby), all of Berea; three sisters: Bertha Willis of Red Lick in Berea, Myrtle Jenkins of Irvine, and Mayfra Conrad of Richmond; one brother, Raymond Anglin; four grandchildren: Jennifer Clark, Christina Potter, Darla Potter and Harold Robert Jones; three great grandchildren: Surena Miller, Racheal Gadd, and Cameron Potter, and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Anglin; and three sisters: Martha Pearson, Nannie McKinney and Laura McKinney.
    Services for Mrs. Willis were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5th at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Edmondson, Bro. Erman Turner, and Bro. Fabian Lynch officiating. William Gene Sparks

    William Gene Sparks, age 79, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015.
    He was born in Estill County, July 15, 1936, to the late Lonnie Thomas and Minerva Mae Cox Sparks. He was a mechanic for Pepsi Cola for 30 years and Manager for Lake Carnico Boat Dock.
    Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel Richardson Sparks; two sons: Ricky Sparks (Billie Jo) and Donald Sparks, both of Carlisle; four daughters: Susan Durbin, Cynthiana, Pam Stone (Bill), Flemingsburg; Vicky Sparks (Randy Mitchell), Cynthiana; and Doris Perkins, Paris; 13 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; three brothers: Billy Sparks (Bonnie), Cape Coral, Florida; Albert Sparks (Debbie) and Tommy Sparks (Lisa), both of Irvine; and one sister, Emma Tipton (Michael), Irvine.
    He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Perkins; a great grandson, Kaydin Skylar Walters; amd two sisters: Dorothy Fike and Mildred Rawlings.
    Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Monday August 31st at the Carlisle-Clark Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Caswell officiating with burial following in the Gray Cemetery, Estill County. Visitation was Sunday 5–8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Austin Sparks, Will Sparks, Logan Sparks, Ricky Sparks Jr., Andy Everman Michal Stidham, Vicky Sparks and Billy Richardson.
