Steven Burt Fauste, 61

    Steven Burt Fauste, age 61, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at his home.
    He was born December 9, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio and was the son of the late Charles Robert and Susie Horn Fauste. He was the owner of Fauste Oil Services and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Fauste is survived by his former wife, Elise Anne Fauste, Irvine; two daughters: Sarah Anne Muncy (Jon Henderson) and Amy Fauste Thomas (Jason), both of Irvine; one son, Charles Steven Fauste (Raina), Irvine; two brothers: Robert J. Fauste, Clay City; and Rick T. Fauste, West Jordan, Utah; eight granchildren: Haley Dawn Fauste, Steven Charles Muncy, Bailey Allen Muncy, Julie Anne Henderson, Natalie Ann Thomas, Aiden Lucas Henderson, Jayce Arthur Thomas and Remi Kate Fauste.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Coral Fauste.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 14th at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 13th from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Violet Broughton Hall, 68

    Violet Broughton Hall, 68, of Irvine, Kentucky, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    She was born May 5, 1947 in Middletown, Ohio, and had been a resident of Estill County most of her life.
    Survivors include her loving husband, Richie Hall; and children: Charlie Eugene Hensley, Billy Ray Hensley, and Bonnie Lou Hensley. Her parents were Ermon Broughton and Anna Isaacs Broughton Alexander.
    She is also survived by her siblings: Walker Broughton, Ermon Broughton Jr., Edna Alexander and Addie Carrizales; seven grandchildren: Destiny, Kristen, Scotty, Jacob, Josh, Autumn, and Charity; and two great grandchildren; plus numerous relatives and friends.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her son, Roy Dale Hensley and brother, Roy Broughton.
    The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15th at Reppert Funeral Home, 110 North Broadway in Berea, with Rev. Johnny Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15th at the funeral home.

Grant T. Dixon Junior, 83

    Grant T. Dixon Junior, age 83, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Crowe Dixon; parents, Grant and Sarah Dixon; siblings: Vera, Warren, Warden and Norvin Dixon; brothers-in-law: Paul Foust and Raymond Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jean Dixon.
    Mr. Dixon is survived by children: Brenda Donahue (Dan), Judy Dixon, both of Xenia; and Grant Dixon, Dayton; grandchildren: Sarah Donahue, Joseph Donahue (Candy), and Rachel Riley (Aaron); great grandchildren: Maya Donahue, Jace and Jaxon Reed, and Daniel Donahue; three sisters: Eubie Foust, Norma Gibble (Charles), and Imogene Johnson; three sisters-in-law: Connie, Mildred and Janette Dixon; four brothers-in-law: Rudolph Crowe (LaDelle), Shelby Crowe (Linda), Esco Crowe (Mona) and Dallis Crowe (Jeanne).
    He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on May 29, 1932, a son of Grant and Sarah Pope Dixon. Grant Junior was in the United States Army and was stationed in Europe. He worked at Master Electric until they went out of business. He owned and ran a Sinclair Gas and Service Station in Xenia and a Clark Gas and Service Station in Dayton in the 60’s. Later, he took a job as an ink technician at McCalls and Precision Ink until they closed, and retired from Morrison Ink Company in Fairborn. He and his wife, Bernice, loved to garden and had a roadside stand on 68 South. They both loved to go to flea markets and had their own booth for many years.
    Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 15th at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio.

    Nancy Gayle Arnold, age 66, of Harris Ferry Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    She was born June 1, 1949 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willard and Edna “Jo” Muncie Berryman. She was a nurse with the Estill County Health Department and a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Arnold is survived by her husband, Jerry Martin Arnold; one daughter, Lelia Arnold Elam (Jeff), Estill County; three sons: Jerry Martin Arnold II (Christy), Robert Hayden Arnold (Audrey), and Jonathan Caleb Arnold (Alicia Ann), all of Estill County; and five grandchildren: Jacob Arnold, Abigail Arnold, Victoria Elam, Andrew Elam and Matthew Elam.

    Analee Mary Youngs Horn, age 83, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at her home.
    She was born November 1, 1931 in Northeast, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Richard Harland and Sarah Thompson Youngs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Winchester Wesleyan Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Horn is survived by her husband, Jeff Horn; two daughters: Ruth Doyle (Scott), Irvine; and Sharon Horn, Ravenna; one son, Jeff A. Horn (Vicki), Ravenna; three brothers: Richard Youngs, New Mexico; Arthur Youngs, Texas; and David Youngs, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren: Shannon Horn, Leah Horn and Rebecca Doyle.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Haas and June Wheeler; and one brother, Daniel Youngs.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ron Pelfrey. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, October 8th at the funeral home.

Chester Richardson, 89

    Chester Richardson, age 89, a resident of the Irvine, Kentucky, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center passed away Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Center following a long illness.
    He was born September 12, 1926 in Estill County and was the son of the late Tommy and Fannie Hudgins Richardson. He was a retired farmer and a former glass maker. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Crawford Richardson.
    He is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Power (Kevin), Irvine; Anna Richardson and Thelma Richardson, both of Ohio; one grandchild, Heather Power, Estill County; and three great grandchildren: Joshua Power, Kayli Hale and Savannah Hale.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

    China Sky Combs, age 32, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
    She was born September 27, 1983 in Madison County, the daughter of Palmer "Joby" Combs and the late Connie Combs Lakes.
    China loved her family and friends. She was a loving mother to her three children. She loved her Granny and Poppy as they did her. She enjoyed living on the farm where she found peace and happiness with Doug Quire.
    She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Combs Lakes; her grandfather, Ray Wiseman; grandparents, Palmer and Betty Combs; great grandmother, Beulah Harrison; uncle, Barry Combs; and cousin, Adam Cade Richardson.
    Survivors include her children: Sicilia Sky Friend, Andrew Clay Friend, and Jeremiah Combs Quire; one sister, Jena Lee Combs; and four nieces: Haven Rayne Combs, Summer Lilly Sutton, Bella Star Rogers, and Serenity Jewel Rogers.
    Maternal survivors, grandparents, Jerry and Loretta Stacy; two aunts: Judy Crouch (Bruce) and Teresa Jones (Robert); and one uncle Danny Wiseman (Libby).
    Paternal survivors, aunts: Sharon O'Nan (Ernest), Karen Harrison (Roger), and Judy Combs; and uncles: Gary Combs & Sharon Gilbert, Kevin Combs & Peggy Arvin, and Keith & Brenda Combs.
    She had lots of family and friends that loved her.

Fred Morris Brown, 89

    Fred Morris Brown, age 89, South Irvine, Kentucky, husband of Thelda Cox Brown, passed away Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 at the Marcum Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    He was a native of Estill County, born July 15, 1926, a son of the late Fred and Rhoda L. Alexander Brown. Mr. Brown was a United States Army veteran, serving active duty during World War II. He was en route to the Pacific when the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. Mr. Brown was a member of the Wisemantown United Methodist Church, former member of the Estill County Farm Bureau Board, former president of the Estill County Farm Bureau Board who when elected was the youngest serving president in the state; he was a crop hail adjuster for Farm Bureau, a charter member of the Estill County Fair Board; he sat on the board of directors for the Union Bank, board of directors for Jackson RECC (1969-2014), East Kentucky Power Co-op Board of Directors (1980-2012), Agriculture Extension Board and Council, a member of the Estill County Agriculture Hall of Fame and the Estill County Cattlemen's Association. He spent his entire life farming, which is what he loved.
    Survivors other than his wife of 39 years, Thelda, include his son, Fred Brown II (Joy); his brother, Herbert Brown (Jo Ann); his nephew, Scott Brown; his grandchildren: Hannah, Hunter, and Hayden Brown; and many loving cousins.
    Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 7th at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Greg McClellan officiating. Burial followed in the Alexander Cemetery with full military honors. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6th at the funeral home.

    Ruby Jean Peters, age 50, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her home.
    She was a native of Estill County, born February 6, 1965, a daughter of the late T.J. and Nancy Griffin Peters. Ms. Peters was a retired nurse, and enjoyed gardening, reading, family, friends, and collecting rabbit figurines. She lovingly provided for her animal friends, Rue, Buttercup, Wesley, Duck-Duck, Elmer, and Charlie.
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Lou Francis Tipton.
    Survivors include her sisters Agnes McGee (Carl) and Peggy Spiers (Jim); her niece, Hannah Paige McGee; and her nephew, Patrick Thomas Spiers.

Michael D. Profitt, 59

    Michael Dale “Farmer Jack” Profitt, age 59, of Furnace Junction, Ravenna, Kentucky, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his residence.
    He was born August 28, 1956 in Richmond to the late Elmer and Elsie Patrick Profitt.
    Farmer Jack was a life-long resident of Estill and Powell County, graduated from Estill County High School and retired from Leggett and Platt. He was an avid collector; loved the auctions, yard sales and flea markets. Farmer Jack had a laid back personality, he enjoyed painting and drawing, but most of all spoiling his daughter and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
    Survivors include one daughter, Staci Profitt Montgomery (Donald) of Carrollton, Georgia; two grandchildren: Austin Stamper and Kaitlyn Peters, both of Carrollton, Georgia; three brothers: James Sanford Profitt (Inez) of Starke, Florida; Lanny Glenn Profitt (Judy) of Irvine; and Chester Profitt of Richmond; six sisters: Barbara Wise (Reece) of Ravenna; Lucille Estes (Cecil) of Palatka, Florida; Margie Fielder (Jim) of Richmond; Sharon Sue Frazier (Steve) of Richmond; Angela Rogers (James) of Waco and Kathy Cooper of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lorene Cornett; and two nieces and two nephews.
    A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life visitation for family and friends was held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Roadside Mission Church of God, Furnace Junction, Ravenna.

    She was born December 2, 1967 in Muncie, Indiana and was the daughter of Charles and Melinda Sanders Painter. She was a caregiver and had lived in Estill County all of her life.
    Ms. Painter is survived by her father, Charles Painter, Madison County; her mother, Melinda Sanders Painter, Estill County; one daughter, Shelby Richardson, Madison County; two sisters: Denise Puckett and Tammie Gentry, both of Estill County; one brother, Charles Benton Painter II, Estill County; her fiancé, Keith Tuttle; and several nieces and nephews.

    Margie Orvie Toler Spencer died on Friday, October 2, 2015.
    She was the widow of John Shelt Spencer and the daughter of the late G.B.and Geneva Young Toler. She was a homemaker, mother, grand and great-grandmother and friend to all. She loved her family and her church.
    Mrs. Spencer is survived by three children: John S. (Charlene) Spencer, Nicholasville; Neva S. Pearson and Bonnie S. Spencer, Winchester; five grandchildren: Jonathan W. Spencer, Robert Shade Pearson, Winchester; Johnna SharlaSue Pearson, Louisville; Andrea (Travis) Peterson, Nebraska; and Maxim C. Spencer, Nicholasville; three step-grandchildren: Eric Murphy, Wisconsin; Kevin Murphy, Nicholasville; and Kelly DeAtley (Elliot), Louisville; one great grandchild: Henry A. Peterson, Nebraska; and two step great grandchildren: Alice and Claira DeAtley, both of Louisville.

    Mrs. Spencer is preceded in death by two brothers: Shelby Toler, Winchester; and John Toler, Irvine.

Samuel L. Sebastian, 73

    Sam Sebastian, 73, husband of Lillie Moore Sebastian, passed away, on September 30, 2015, at the Marcum Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky, after a long illness.
    He was a native of Owsley County, born December 14, 1941, a son of the late Henry and Mabel Gabbard Sebastian. Mr. Sebastian was a farmer who enjoyed fishing, hunting, family, horses and mules, and good food.
    Survivors, other than his wife Lillie, include his daughters: Sandy Steagall (Randy), Sharon Sebastian, Connie McKinney (Lloyd) and Anika Nicole West; his sons: Randy Sebastian, Freddie Sebastian (Amy), Shannon Sebastian, Henry Allen Sebastian (Clara), and Billy Lee Sebastian; his brothers and sisters: Mary Marker, Isaac Sebastian, Robert Sebastian (Pat), and Morgan Sebastian; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

    Bobby Clinton “Shorty” Isaacs II, age 44, of Cow Creek Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born September 20, 1971 in Estill County and was the son of Bobby C. and Judy Watson Isaacs. He was an employee of Isaacs Lumber and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Survivors, in addition to his father and mother, include two sisters: Jennifer Wiseman (Jay) and Carol Ann Isaacs, both of Estill County; two brothers: Ricky Isaacs (Shirley), Lee County; and Jeff Isaacs (Tonya), Estill County; four nephews: Corey Isaacs, Jeffery Isaacs, Jon Isaacs and Buster Isaacs; one niece, Lynn Isaacs; and several great nieces and great nephews.

    Charles Hume West, age 75, of Dug Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015, at the Jordan Center in Louisa, Kentucky, following a long illness.
    He was born October 25, 1939 in Estill County and was the son of the late Lindsey West Sr. and Myrtle Henry West. He was a retired employee of Nacco Manufacturing and attended the Irvine First Church of God. He was a United States Army veteran and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. West was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Murphy West.
    He is survived by two daughters: Vicki Murphy, Irvine; and Tina Duerson, Richmond; three grandchildren: Devon Saylor, Tylan Duerson and Shayla Duerson
    Mr. West was preceded in death by his brother, Lindsey West Jr.

Leonard Blevins, 87

    Leonard Blevins, 87, born October 15, 1927, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington. Mr. Blevins was a retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot, and was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II.
    Survivors include his daughter, Melody Tipton (Tim); his son, Terry Blevins; his brother, Eli Blevins (Gladys); his sisters: Veda Arnold (Wallace) and Kathleen Blevins; his grandchildren: Brittany Woolery, Mackenzie Robbins Blevins, Levi Tipton, Michael Blevins, Morgan Tipton, and Autumn Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.

    Ruby Jewel Rudy, 83, of Asheville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Fleshers of Fairview.
    She was born in Irvine, Kentucky on December 1, 1931 to the late Otis and Mary Ashcraft Tipton. Rudy was a part of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as the Tipton Family Association of America.
    Ruby is survived by her sons: Elmo Francis Rudy of Asheville; Randy Thomas Rudy of Winter Park, Florida; and David Allen Rudy (Jane) of Johnson City, Tennessee; daughters: Donna Gay Gehring (Dwight) of Englewood, Ohio; and Susan Lorain Bangert (Dan) of Candler, North Carolina; a brother, Dallas Tipton of Petersburg, Tennessee; a sister, Martha Hunt of Franklin, Ohio; and grandchildren: Patricia Louise Gehring, Christopher Emmons Bangert, and Daniel Ross Bangert.
    . Ruby possessed an independent spirit. She struggled against tremendous adversity with courage and determination.  She had a mind that looks to the higher possibilities of life, rising above mediocrity and the collective influences that attempt to drag people down to unimaginative uninspired compromises with the popular respectable lack of character that prevails in general society. She had the mind of a college professor, extensively reading a great variety of books about history including the main currents of political development that have made the world more civilized.  She inspired all of her children with these qualities and they have all pursued the path of seeking higher knowledge shown by the influence of the example of their mother. She is greatly missed but she lives on in the minds and hearts of her children and grandchildren who all refuse to consider the achievement of excellence in life as an unattainable goal because she never did. Her son, David once remarked of her that she was “the toughest broad on the East Side”, referring to Dayton, Ohio.
    Her remains were cremated and a service and celebration of her life will take place next August or September somewhere in Kentucky, her beloved home state.  Please send no flowers.  Donations to the American Heart Association are preferable.
