Belva Mae Abney Bennett, 79

    Belva Mae Abney Bennett, age 79, of Picnic Hill Loop Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born September 12, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Everett George and Myrtle Lou Rogers Abney. She was a caregiver and had lived in Estill County for the last 40 years.
    Mrs. Bennett is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Williams, Estill County; three sons: Jerry Bennett (Kathy), North Carolina; Jimmy D. Bennett (Paula), Nicholasville; and Johnny Bennett, Florida; three brothers: Arthur Abney, Donald Abney, and Ernie Abney, all of Estill County; and three grandchildren: Shelby L. Williams, Sara L. Williams and Tyler G. Bennett.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Bennett; 1 sister, Jewell; and one brother, Audrey Abney.
    Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 19th at the Cobb Hill Cemetery by Bro. Elwood Patrick. Friends called from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

Delmar C. Combs, 85

    Delmar C. Combs, age 85, of Owingsville, Kentucky, widower of Barbara Combs; died Friday, October 16, 2015.
    He was born January 31, 1930, a son of Mitchel C. Combs and Eliza Tuttle Combs (both deceased). He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War and was a machinist, retired from General Motors.
    Survivors include one son, Mick Combs (Kathleen) of Waynesville, North Carolina; two daughters: Jeannette Wenzel (John S.) of Phoenix, Arizona; and Vera Posh (Larry) of Alvin, Texas; one brother, James B. Combs (Phyllis) of Beavercreek, Ohio; two sisters: Elizabeth Marcum (Eddie) and Inez Worell (Eli), all of Beavercreek, Ohio; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Mr. Combs was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Combs; and two sisters: Agatha Walling and Bethel Wendling.
    Visitation will be held 10 a.m.-12 Noon, Wednesday October 21st at Richardson Funeral Home, 121 East Main Street in Owingsville, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 Noon, officiated by Pastor Franklin Rose.

Norma Mastin, 68

    Norma Mastin, age 68, wife of Kenneth Mastin, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at her home .
    She was born on June 19, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Clayton Sparks and Gladys Williams Sparks. She was a retired supervisor at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
    Survivors include her husband, two daughters: Teresa Holt Vanwinkle (Irv) of Williamstown and Angela Mastin of Irvine; one son, Timothy Holt (Monica), Mt. Sterling; two stepsons: Michael Mastin of Irvine and Ron Mastin (Denisa) of Nashville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Crouch (Terry); two brothers: Glenn Sparks (Brenda) and Kenneth Sparks (Sharon); and five nephews.
    Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21st at Scobee Funeral Home, 201 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester by Pastor Bill Curtis. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 20th at the funeral home.

Ova Douglas Wilson, 75

    Ova Douglas Wilson, age 75, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Fountain Circle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, following a short illness.
    He was born January 25, 1940, in Estill County, the son of the late William Preston and Mattie Lee Richardson Wilson. He was a self-employed construction worker and had lived in Estill County for about 30 years.
    Mr. Wilson is survived by a daughter: Tina Lee Clem (Paul Jr.), Winchester; a sister: Joyce Kerby (Marshall), Irvine; three grandchildren: Ridge Douglas Richardson, Charlie Scott Clem and Chad Lee Clem; four great grandchildren: Layla Michelle Clem, Kynslee Shae Grace Wilson, Aiden Scott Clem, and Andrew Paul Clem; several step grand, great grand, and great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 17th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. James McIntosh and Bro. Junior Richardson with burial following in the Richardson Cemetery. Friends called after 1 p.m., Saturday, until service time at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Charlie Clem, Chad Clem, Mickey Dearing, Justin Cline, Darrell Spicer and Cecil Hardy.

Danny Hardy, 63

    Danny Hardy, age 63, husband of Linda Riddle Hardy, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, after a long illness.
    He was born February 13, 1952 in Estill County, the son of the late Douglas and Arbara Jean Riddle Hardy. Mr. Hardy was a construction worker and a farmer, who enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, and University of Kentucky basketball.
    He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Lanny Hardy.
    Survivors, other than his wife, Linda, include his sons: Rex Allen Hardy and Danny Wayne Hardy; his brother, Rick Hardy; his grandchildren: Danielle Jean Hardy, Stephanie Nicole Hardy, and Dakota Arvin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    Services were held Monday, October 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Sherl Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the Hardy Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Dakota Arvin, Donald Hardy, Robert Wilson, Timmie Riddle, Brian Riddle, Donnie Underwood, and Danny White.

Ardelle "Lem" Riggs Hisle, 84

    Ardelle "Lem" Riggs Hisle, age 84 of Clark County, Kentucky, widow who was married to Dalous William Hisle for 63 years, entered her "Haven of Rest" on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
    The daughter of the late Henry and Nettie Riggs, Ardelle is survived by one sister, Otella Riggs Witt; one niece, Sandy Witt Baker (Larry); a great niece, Kate Baker Estes (Anthony) of Huntsville, Alabama; and a sister-in-law, Lotha Hisle Allen of Irvine.
    A graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan and Eastern Kentucky University, Ardelle was a double major in Biology and History. She was a devoted teacher for thirty years in the Clark County School System; teaching at Providence, Trapp, and George Rogers Clark High School.
    She served on a selection committee for Congressman Larry Hopkins to recommend young high school graduates for an appointment to the nation's military service academies, such as West Point, Annapolis, or the Air Force Academy.
    Dining in her home was a fellowship many considered a "treat" - sampling new recipes that she "whipped up" in her kitchen. Ardelle was known for her party table fair and gourmet cooking. Her trademark lemon pound cake was always on her counter ready to serve unexpected drop-in friends.
    A member of Dunaway United Methodist Church she was a leader, teacher, and delegate to the Kentucky United Methodist Conference. Her most notable phrase was "GOD MAKES NO MISTAKES." She was also a fifty-year member of the El Bethel Homemakers.
    Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17th at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, by Rev. Clarence Dishman and Bishop Al Gwinn. Burial was in Winchester Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, October 16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service time on Saturday.
    Pallbearers were Mike Dishman, Pete Hardy, Tim Layton, Jason Stanfield, Steve Wilson, and Mike Woolery.
    Honorary pallbearers were Betty Dishman, Anna Belle Houk, Mae Gilkison, Izola Crowe, Connie Woolery, Bonnie Hardy, Becky Taylor, Betty Pace, Angie Jackson, Liz Berryman, Alice Quisenberry, and Lois Carol Shimfessel.

Ruby Marie Whitaker Snowden, 82

    Ruby Marie Whitaker Snowden, age 82, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Compassionate Care Center after a long illness.
    She was born March 4, 1933, in Garrard County, the daughter of the late Marshall and Hazel Montgomery Whitaker. She was employed as a bus driver for 21 years by the Madison County Board of Education. She had lived in Garrard County most of her life and was a member of the Tates Creek Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Snowden was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Snowden.
    She is survived by two daughters: Patricia Horn (Ronald), Garrard County; and Peggy Fox (Ellis), Irvine; a sister, Minnie Lawson, Garrard County; two brothers: William Whitaker, Garrard County; and Earl Gordon Whitaker, Lincoln County; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step great granddaughters.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Huffman with burial following in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., on Friday, October 16th at the funeral home.

James G. "Jimmy" Horn

    James “Jimmy” G. Horn, age 71, of Substation Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born January 8, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio and was the son of the late Zelda Horn. He was a former employee of the 76 Truck Stop, Uncle Charlie’s and Allen Construction. He attended the Richmond House of Prayer and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Horn is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jo Brinegar Horn; one daughter: Donna Horn (Kenny Gibson), Irvine; one son: Eric Horn (Kimberly), Moberly; five grandchildren: Ashley Brown (Billy), Samantha Riddell, Carolyn Riddell (Michael Taylor), Chandra Riddell (Jacob “Bunk” Thompson) and Jordan Horn; and four great grandsons: Billy Brown Jr., Brennon “Chance” Brown, Brayden Brown and Waylon Noland.

    Lucille Townsend, age 81, of Peters Road in McKee, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born January 9, 1934 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Marvin and Callie Cole Combs. She was a former employee of the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and attended the Holiness Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Townsend.
    She is survived by four daughters: Brenda Woolery (Mason), Mary L. Hardy (Kiser), Wilma Willis, all of Irvine; and Debra Conner (Ron), McKee; three sons: Carlos Townsend (Mildred), Charles Townsend (Charlene), and Travis Townsend, all of Irvine; one sister, Jeanette Mays, Irvine; one brother, Omer Combs, Austin, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
    Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by three sisters: Adria Applegate, Eloree Mays and Betty Townsend; three brothers: Odell, Otis and James Combs; and one grandchild, Jessica Townsend.

    Robert Lee Dixon, age 61, of Cherry Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born May 12, 1954 in Estill County and was the son of the late Clarence Jr. and Goldie May Tipton Dixon. He was a logger and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Dixon is survived by two daughters, Erica Dixon (Dan), Estill County; and Christy Moore (Tim), Lee County; two sons: Fairley Dixon (Lori), Estill County; and Johnny Elliott (Candace), Clark County; two sisters: Kathy Begley (Bill) and Valerie Rose (Mark), both of Estill County; one brother, Jerry Dixon (Lavern), Estill County; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one son, Jason Dixon; and one sister, Mary Dixon.

    Steven Burt Fauste, age 61, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at his home.
    He was born December 9, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio and was the son of the late Charles Robert and Susie Horn Fauste. He was the owner of Fauste Oil Services and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Fauste is survived by his former wife, Elise Anne Fauste, Irvine; two daughters: Sarah Anne Muncy (Jon Henderson) and Amy Fauste Thomas (Jason), both of Irvine; one son, Charles Steven Fauste (Raina), Irvine; two brothers: Robert J. Fauste, Clay City; and Rick T. Fauste, West Jordan, Utah; eight granchildren: Haley Dawn Fauste, Steven Charles Muncy, Bailey Allen Muncy, Julie Anne Henderson, Natalie Ann Thomas, Aiden Lucas Henderson, Jayce Arthur Thomas and Remi Kate Fauste.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Coral Fauste.

Violet Broughton Hall

    Violet Broughton Hall, 68, of Irvine, Kentucky, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    She was born May 5, 1947 in Middletown, Ohio, and had been a resident of Estill County most of her life.
    Survivors include her loving husband, Richie Hall; and children: Charlie Eugene Hensley, Billy Ray Hensley, and Bonnie Lou Hensley. Her parents were Ermon Broughton and Anna Isaacs Broughton Alexander.
    She is also survived by her siblings: Walker Broughton, Ermon Broughton Jr., Edna Alexander and Addie Carrizales; seven grandchildren: Destiny, Kristen, Scotty, Jacob, Josh, Autumn, and Charity; and two great grandchildren; plus numerous relatives and friends.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her son, Roy Dale Hensley and brother, Roy Broughton.
    The funeral service were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15th at Reppert Funeral Home, 110 North Broadway in Berea, with Rev. Johnny Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15th at the funeral home.

Grant T. Dixon Junior

    Grant T. Dixon Junior, age 83, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Crowe Dixon; parents, Grant and Sarah Dixon; siblings: Vera, Warren, Warden and Norvin Dixon; brothers-in-law: Paul Foust and Raymond Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jean Dixon.
    Mr. Dixon is survived by children: Brenda Donahue (Dan), Judy Dixon, both of Xenia; and Grant Dixon, Dayton; grandchildren: Sarah Donahue, Joseph Donahue (Candy), and Rachel Riley (Aaron); great grandchildren: Maya Donahue, Jace and Jaxon Reed, and Daniel Donahue; three sisters: Eubie Foust, Norma Gibble (Charles), and Imogene Johnson; three sisters-in-law: Connie, Mildred and Janette Dixon; four brothers-in-law: Rudolph Crowe (LaDelle), Shelby Crowe (Linda), Esco Crowe (Mona) and Dallis Crowe (Jeanne).
    He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on May 29, 1932, a son of Grant and Sarah Pope Dixon. Grant Junior was in the United States Army and was stationed in Europe. He worked at Master Electric until they went out of business. He owned and ran a Sinclair Gas and Service Station in Xenia and a Clark Gas and Service Station in Dayton in the 60’s. Later, he took a job as an ink technician at McCalls and Precision Ink until they closed, and retired from Morrison Ink Company in Fairborn. He and his wife, Bernice, loved to garden and had a roadside stand on 68 South. They both loved to go to flea markets and had their own booth for many years.
    Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 15th at the funeral home. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio.

    Nancy Gayle Arnold, age 66, of Harris Ferry Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    She was born June 1, 1949 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willard and Edna “Jo” Muncie Berryman. She was a nurse with the Estill County Health Department and a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Arnold is survived by her husband, Jerry Martin Arnold; one daughter, Lelia Arnold Elam (Jeff), Estill County; three sons: Jerry Martin Arnold II (Christy), Robert Hayden Arnold (Audrey), and Jonathan Caleb Arnold (Alicia Ann), all of Estill County; and five grandchildren: Jacob Arnold, Abigail Arnold, Victoria Elam, Andrew Elam and Matthew Elam.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kenny Cole. Burial was be at the Stone Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, October 9th at the funeral home.

    Analee Mary Youngs Horn, age 83, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at her home.
    She was born November 1, 1931 in Northeast, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Richard Harland and Sarah Thompson Youngs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Winchester Wesleyan Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Horn is survived by her husband, Jeff Horn; two daughters: Ruth Doyle (Scott), Irvine; and Sharon Horn, Ravenna; one son, Jeff A. Horn (Vicki), Ravenna; three brothers: Richard Youngs, New Mexico; Arthur Youngs, Texas; and David Youngs, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren: Shannon Horn, Leah Horn and Rebecca Doyle.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Haas and June Wheeler; and one brother, Daniel Youngs.

Chester Richardson, 89

    Chester Richardson, age 89, a resident of the Irvine, Kentucky, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center passed away Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Center following a long illness.
    He was born September 12, 1926 in Estill County and was the son of the late Tommy and Fannie Hudgins Richardson. He was a retired farmer and a former glass maker. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Crawford Richardson.
    He is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Power (Kevin), Irvine; Anna Richardson and Thelma Richardson, both of Ohio; one grandchild, Heather Power, Estill County; and three great grandchildren: Joshua Power, Kayli Hale and Savannah Hale.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial was at the Turpin Cemetery. Friends called from 11 a.m. until service time, Thursday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Luther Richardson, Tommy Richardson, John Crawford, Kevin Power, Chris Hale and Pat Moore.

China Sky Combs, 32

    China Sky Combs, age 32, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
    She was born September 27, 1983 in Madison County, the daughter of Palmer "Joby" Combs and the late Connie Combs Lakes.
    China loved her family and friends. She was a loving mother to her three children. She loved her Granny and Poppy as they did her. She enjoyed living on the farm where she found peace and happiness with Doug Quire.
    She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Combs Lakes; her grandfather, Ray Wiseman; grandparents, Palmer and Betty Combs; great grandmother, Beulah Harrison; uncle, Barry Combs; and cousin, Adam Cade Richardson.
    Survivors include her children: Sicilia Sky Friend, Andrew Clay Friend, and Jeremiah Combs Quire; one sister, Jena Lee Combs; and four nieces: Haven Rayne Combs, Summer Lilly Sutton, Bella Star Rogers, and Serenity Jewel Rogers.
    Maternal survivors, grandparents, Jerry and Loretta Stacy; two aunts: Judy Crouch (Bruce) and Teresa Jones (Robert); and one uncle Danny Wiseman (Libby).
    Paternal survivors, aunts: Sharon O'Nan (Ernest), Karen Harrison (Roger), and Judy Combs; and uncles: Gary Combs & Sharon Gilbert, Kevin Combs & Peggy Arvin, and Keith & Brenda Combs.
    She had lots of family and friends that loved her.
    Visitation was held 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, October 9th at Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in the Redlick Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Devin Wiseman, Andy Wiseman, Jon Crouch, Doug Quire Jr., Greg Hains, and Steven Winkler.
    Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Clay Friend, and Staci LeAnn Winkler.
