Larry Michael Hunt Jr., 38

    Larry Michael Hunt Jr., age 38, of Willow Tree Lane in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, at his home.
    He was born June 4, 1977 in Lexington, and was the son of Larry Michael Hunt Sr. and Judith Gale Collins Kendall. He was a former member of the National Guard and had served in Iraq. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Hunt is survived by his father, Larry Michael Hunt Sr. (Michelle Horn), Ravenna; his mother, Judith Gale Collins Kendall (Tommy), Ravenna; one daughter, Tyra Ryann Hunt, Stanton; one son, Gage Hunt, Stanton; one sister, Crystal Meece (Eddie), Ravenna; and two nephews: Corey Bishop and Dalton Bishop.
    Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, December 9th at 11 a.m. at the Oakdale Cemetery by Bro. Roscoe Conley.

Zachary Chase Clevenger, 30

Zachary Chase Clevenger

    Zachary Chase Clevenger, husband of Christina Coomer Clevenger of Irvine, Kentucky and the son of Tony Clevenger of Beattyville, and Tammy Clevenger of Lexington, was born in Lexington on March 22, 1985 and departed this life in Irvine on December 5, 2015 at the age of 30 years, 8 months, and 13 days.
    Zach served eight years as a volunteer for Estill County Fire Department in addition to his career as a Captain / EMT with Montgomery County Fire & EMS. He was actively involved with fire investigations with Matrix Fire Investigation and served on Primrose Fire Department, also as a volunteer. Zach was a member of multiple associations including: International Association of Fire Investigation, National Association of Fire Investigation and the Montgomery County Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF Local #4805).
    In addition to his wife, unborn child and parents, Zach is survived by three uncles: Don Cockerham (Faye) of Irvine, Tom Cockerham (Janie) of Beattyville, and Greg Clevenger (Tina) of Florence; one aunt, Millie Swagger of California; his maternal grandmother, Ilene Jewell of Beattyville; his Fire Department family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 9th, 5-9 p.m., at Living Water Church, 200 Fogg Pike (off Richmond Avenue) in Mt. Sterling. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the church by Chaplain Tony Anderson. Burial will be in the Lucas Cemetery, Abner Flat Road at Primrose in Beattyville.

Billy Paul Graham, 62

    Billy Paul Graham, age 62, of Sandridge Road in Waco, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
    He was born March 6, 1953 in Estill County and was the son of Norma Lois Horn Graham and the late Robert Graham. He was a retired mason and a former member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Charlene Daniel Graham; three daughters: Melonie Cole, Powell County; Jennifer Rigdon, Estill County; and Donna Cook, Madison County; five sons: Robert Lee Graham, Andrew Graham, both of Estill County; Tristan Green, Dalton Olaveris, both of Madison County, and David Allen, Estill County; one sister, Sharon Arthur, Estill County; two brothers: Shannon Graham, Madison County; and Doyle Graham, Estill County; 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Darrell Graham.
    Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, December 8th, 11 a.m. at the Graham Cemetery.

Martha Jean Hackworth Smith, 87

    Martha Jean Hackworth Smith, age 87, the widow of Millard “Red” Smith, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at her home.
    Mrs. Smith was born on September 15, 1928 in Irvine, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Eugene and Melvina Richardson Hackworth, both of whom preceded her in death. She was of the Holiness faith. Mrs. Smith was a farmer and had also been the owner and operator of Martha Jean’s Stockyard Restaurant.
    Survivors include three daughters: Sue Triplette, Judy Roy (Bill), and Effie Burrus (Ronnie); three sons, Merle R. Harrison (Gracie), William Harrison, and Sammy Hammons (Pat); 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Louise Harrison; one grandson, Ricky L. Bowling; one sister, Effie Lee Yates; and one brother, Leonard G. Yates.
    Funeral services for Martha Jean Smith were held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 8th at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Sammy Hammons officiating. Burial followed in the Turpin Cemetery at Winston in Estill County. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
    Pallbearers were Ronald Burrus, Millard Middleton, Terry Hackworth, Chad Osborne, Michael Robbins, and Bill Roy.
    The family wishes to express special appreciation to her caregivers, Sherry Rogers and Joanne Morris.

Douglas Ray Thomas, 72

    Douglas Ray Thomas, age 72, of SubStation Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
    He was born March 10, 1943 in Estill County and was the son of the late Ray and Lucille Cox Thomas. He was a retired auto body technician and a member of the Providence Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Webb Thomas; one daughter, Kim Riddell (Teddy), Irvine; two sons: Tim Thomas (Shelia), Berea; and Jeff Thomas (Melason), Irvine; his sister-in-law, Jenna Thomas, Richmond; five grandchildren: Brittany, Jeramy, Ryan, Justin and Felicia Thomas; two nieces: Teresa (Jake) Riddell and Bridgett Thomas; one great nephew, Logan Riddell; and two special friends: Ronald & Joyce Lantern.
    He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tamara Renee Thomas; his brother, Terry Lynn Thomas and one grandchild, Megan Rechelle Thomas.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 6th at 2 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kyle Knight and Bro. Bill VanWinkle. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, December 5th at the funeral home.

Wanda Tiffany Barnes, 58

    Wanda Tiffany Barnes, age 58, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at her home.
    She was born June 10, 1957 in Clark County to the late James and Alice Barnes. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and sister.
    Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Barnes of Irvine; one son, Michael Anderson of Winchester; one sister, Terry Barnes of Winchester; two granddaughters: Raelynn Anderson and Alyson Burton; several nieces and nephews and her devoted and loving companion, T.C. Davis.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5th at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue in Winchester. Burial was at Powells Valley Cemetery at Clay City. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. untill time of service, Saturday, the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Michael Anderson, Will Watkins, Chris Burton, Aaron Jackson, Will Caudill, Tim Crowe, Danny Barnes and Darrin Trent.

James Preston Shuler, 80

    James Preston Shuler, age 80, of Furnace Junction Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
    He was born October 5, 1935 in Estill County and was the son of the late Elery and Louann Tipton Shuler. He was a retired employee of Smyth Lumber Company and a member of the Gum Springs Church of God. He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Shuler is survived by his wife, Edna Shuler; three daughters: Carol Ann Hamilton, Illinois; Cynthia Neal and Nellie P. Rogers, both of Estill County; three sisters: Celia Babb, Ohio; Betty Shuler and Wanda Lynch, both of Estill County; one brother, Lloyd Shuler, Estill County; two grandchildren: Melissa Hamilton and Jennifer Banks; and one great grandchild, Alexander Banks.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Shuler; one son-in-law, Mark S. Hamilton; and one grandchild, Mark James Hamilton.

Darrell Gene Tipton, 82

    Darrell Gene Tipton, age 82, of Kirkland Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born March 16, 1933 in Estill County and was the son of the late Clay Alexander and Lillian Neal Tipton. He was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Tipton is survived by his wife, Maxine Kelley Tipton; and three sons: Darrell Wayne Tipton, Kelly Gene Tipton, and Kenneth Allen Tipton, all of Irvine.
    He was preceded in death by his sister, Mattie B. Clark.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5th at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church by Bro. Mark Pearson. Burial was at the Tipton Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church.

Gregory Floyd Edmonson, 41

    Gregory Floyd Edmonson was born May 21, 1974 in Estill County and departed this life after a courageous battle on November 30, 2015 in Irvine, being 41 years of age. He was the son of Floyd Edmonson of Irvine and of the late Judy (Riddell) Edmonson.
    In addition to his father, Greg is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Clark) Edmonson of Irvine; one son, Casey Edmonson of Irvine; and one sister, Anita Estes of Irvine.
    Other than his mother, Greg was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard & Verna Riddell.
    Greg was of the Pentecostal Faith.

    A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3rd at Pea Ridge Cemetery in Estill County.

Gene (Bobby) McIntosh, 76

    Gene (Bobby) McIntosh, age 76, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015.
    He was born September 26, 1939 and was the son of Ottie and Ethel Baber McIntosh. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict where he served five years and was a SPC5. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
    Mr. McIntosh is survived by six children, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five brothers and six sisters.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers.
    A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

    Rose Carol Pondella Abner, age 69, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, a resident of the Golden Living Nursing Home in Stanford, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville.
    She was born October 26, 1946 in Norwood, Ohio and attended the Living Waters Church.
    Mrs. Abner was preceded in death by her husband, Larry "Sonny" Abney Sr.
    She is survived by her son, Larry Abner, Irvine.
    Mrs. Abner was preceded in death by one sister, Ilene Rhinehart; and two brothers, Less and Frank Pondella.

    Janice Eudell Conrad, age 74, of Ironworks Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.
    She was born February 4, 1941 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Tracy and Nannie Mae Bryant Winburn. She was a homemaker and volunteered at the Estill County Food Bank. She attended the Full Gospel Evangelistic Ministries and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Conrad was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Conrad.
    She is survived by one daughter, Ona Carlline “CJ” Conrad, Irvine; one son, Raymond Wendell Conrad, Irvine; four sisters: Alice Carol Maples, Oklahoma; Margaret Pitts, Wanda Tillery, and Elaine Gray, all of Irvine; one brother, Paul Ray Winburn, Lexington; and one grandchild, Jerame Conrad.
    She was preceded in death by two children: Barbara Sue Conrad and David Randall Conrad; two sisters: Hazel King and Ruby Rader; and three brothers: Leon, Donald and Dean Winburn.

Nancy C. Bowling

    Nancy C. Bowling, age 72, of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan.
    She was born on November 4, 1943, in Milan, Tennessee, the daughter of William and Wafie (Madery) Perry. Nancy was a member of Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna, Kentucky. She was very proud to have been a bus aide for the Estill County School District in Kentucky for 12 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, flowers, and especially her roses.
    On November 23, 1961, she married George L. Bowling in Wayne County, Michigan, and he survives. Also surviving are five children: Judith Siebeneicher (Kevin) of Texas, Donna Whitaker of Stockbridge, Daniel Bowling of Michigan, Amy Higgins (Arron) of Grass Lake, Michigan; and Jackie Patrick (Johnnie) of Irvine, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Lucille Bowling of Irvine.
    She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Chrissy Lynn; her parents; two brothers, Eugene Perry and Billy Perry; one son-in-law, Shayne Whitaker; one grandson, Jackson Patrick; her mother-in-law, Mildred Hart; and her father-in-law, Joe Bowling.
    A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30th at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, Michigan, with Pastor Adam Summers officiating.
    Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, December 2nd at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Irvine. Friends called after 11 a.m. until service time at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

Minnie Lee Goolman, age 95

    Minnie Lee Winburn Goolman, age 95, of Racetrack Road in Irvine, Kentucky, widow of Everett Goolman, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015.
    She was a native of Estill County, born April 23, 1920 the daughter of Parker and Amanda Wills Winburn. She was a member of the Corinth Christian Church and enjoyed quilting and cooking.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Frayvoll Goolman; and her sister, Gertrude Crim.
    Survivors include her son, Mel Goolman; her daughter, Pam Goolman; her sister-in-law, Ada Goolman; her grandchildren, Chad Goolman (Joanna), Brad Goolman (Melissa), and Stuart Goolman; and her great grandchildren, Blake Goolman, Kylie Goolman, Dalton Goolman, and Hannah Goolman.
    Services were held Tuesday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Corinth Christian Church with Bro. Linville Dunaway officiating. Burial followed in the Berryman Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 30th at Lewis Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Pearl Collins, 81

    Elizabeth Pearl Collins, age 81, of Brown Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born January 3, 1934 in Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Cleve and Betty Hurley Angel. She was a retired teacher with the Estill County School System and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
    Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Collins.
    She is survived by one daughter: Terri Thomas (Roger), Estill County; one grandchild, Dale Thomas; and two great grandchildren: Garrett Thomas and Ella Thomas.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Angel and Rosalee Collins; and eight brothers: Joe, Curt, Bill, Elmer, Edwin, Edgar, Audley and Earl Angel.
    Graveside services were conducted Friday, November 27th at 1 p.m. at the West Irvine Cemetery by Bro. Keith Sands.

Norma Jean “Jane” Newman Elliott

    Norma Jean “Jane” Newman Elliott, age 71, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Richmond.
    She was born February 14, 1944, in Irvine, Kentucky to Opal Stevens Reece and Everett Newman, both of whom preceded her in death. Norma was a homemaker.
    Survivors include two daughters: Lolita Allen of London, Kentucky; and Pamela McClure (Frank) of Richmond; one son, Lester Scott Messer (Wanda Gail) of Broadhead; one sister, Jeanetta McKinney of Morning Sun, Ohio; and four brothers: Stanley Newman of Stamping Ground, Billy Newman of Frankfort; Bobby Hoover and Danny Hoover, both of Irvine.
    Norma also leaves three grandchildren: Cindy Allen of Oneida, Brandalin McClure of Lexington, and Franklin McClure of Richmond; three step grandchildren: Christopher Benge, Joshua Benge, and John York; step great grandchildren: Damion York, Samantha Benge and Hannah Benge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Molly “Peaches” Harp; and one brother, Roger Reece.
    Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 28th at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond. Burial followed at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Robert Cox Jr., age 76, widower of Ilene Messer Cox, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center, after a short illness.
    Mr. Cox was a native of Lee County, born November 18, 1939, a son of the late Robert and Lillie Angel Cox. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, he enjoyed trading and working in his yard.
    Survivors include his sons: Shane Cox (Andrea), Perry Cox (Cindy), Phillip Cox (Brenda), Kenny Stepp (Barbara), Mike Stepp (Linda), and Jason Stepp (Sally); his sister, Wilma Lois Young; his sister-in-law, Jewel Fike; 19 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    Laney Anne Tipton, age 9 days, of Stacy Lane Road, Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at her home.
    She was born November 15, 2015, in Fayette County, the daughter of Robert Tyler Tipton and Lauren Ashley Rose.
    In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her grandparents: Robin Gail Rose, James Garrett Rose, both of Estill County; and Stan and Patricia Tipton, Madison County; great randparents: Wanda Faye Henry, Estill County; Millard and Lynn Reed, Madison County; James Edgar Rose, Estill County; and Myrtle Riddell, Madison County; a sister, Khloe Allison Tipton; and several aunts and uncles.

George Wayne Tincher

    George Wayne Tincher, age 45, of Spout Springs in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at his residence.
    Born August 16, 1970 in Estill County, he is survived by his parents, James Lee and Mary E. Tipton Tincher of Irvine; one brother, James Wayne Tincher of Sandy Hook; and a sister, Peggy Ann Strange (Ricky) of Clay City.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2nd at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11 a.m. 'till time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.
    In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the George Tincher Memorial Fund, 201 7th Ave. Clay City, KY 40312.

Phyllis M. Carroll, 72

    Phyllis M. Carroll, age 72, of Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Baptist Health Lexington.
    She was born December 29, 1942 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Roy and Geneva McKinney McIntosh. She was a retired nurse’s aide and had worked 22 ˝ years at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the South Irvine Church of Christ and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Carroll is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bonnie Carroll; one daughter, Rhonda Carroll, Estill County; two sons: Randall Carroll (Mary) and Raymond Carroll (Mary), both of Estill County; one sister, Lillian Plowman, Norwood, Ohio; one grandchild, Phyllis Nicole Horn; and one great grandchild, Coraline Horn.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Johnson.
    Private funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 25th at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tony Belcher. Burial was at the Carroll Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Bonnie Carroll, Raymond Carroll and Randall Carroll.

Bonnie Joyce Henry, 78

    Bonnie Joyce Henry, age 78, of Miamisburg, Ohio, departed this earth on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
    She was born in February 13, 1937 in Estill County, Kentucky to the late Bevely and Edna Walters. She devoted her life to her family, especially her son Nicky, and her church, First Church of God. She retired from Kettering Medical Center after more than 30 years of loyal service.
    Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Ruth.
    She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold Henry; children: Donna Hubert (Rick), Nicky Henry, and Jackie Barker (Gary); a granddaughter, Kelli Barker; siblings: Bernice, Blanche, Lavern, Ladene, Glynn, David, James, Damon, and Bill; and many other loving relatives and friends.
    A visitation was held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at The Moraine City First Church of God in Dayton Ohio with the funeral Service to take place in Irvine on Wednesday, November 25th at Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was at Dunaway Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonnie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
