Pamela Diane Willis, 57

Pamela Diane Willis

    Pamela Diane Willis, age 57, of Sub Station Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born December 29, 1958 in Madison County and was the daughter of Mabel Ruth Abner Willis and the late William Thomas Willis. She was a member of the Crystal Holiness Church and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Ms. Willis retired from FEMA in 2013 where she served as the Deputy Director of Recovery for Region 3. She was nationally recognized as a housing expert where she oversaw complete housing operations during floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. During her time at FEMA, she was instrumental in providing temporary housing for thousands of individuals and families. In 2001, Pam was recognized as FEMA Employee of the Year. In 2004, Pam was recognized by the state of West Virginia for her dedication in helping house displaced families during floods that had damaged the state on several occasions. The Willis Court Mobil Home Park, located in Varney, West Virginia was named in her honor. Pam was respected by governors and government officials because of her dedication to helping people in need. In addition to her work honors, Pam was much loved and respected by her family and friends.
    Survivors, in addition to her mother, include four sisters: Loretta Wells (Danny), Big Pine Keys, Florida/Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Sandra Floyd (William), Christina Tuttle, both of Estill County; and Lorena Webb (Doug), Madison County; one brother, William Willis (Jenny), Estill County; eight nieces and nephews: Michael Willis (Stacy), Bill Friend (Tara), Kim Fike (Casey), Matthew Floyd, Derrick Floyd, Carla Jones (Ken), Erica Barrett (Jason) and Noah Eads (Brittney); and 13 great nieces & nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martona Ragan Willis; one brother, Aaron Michael Willis; one brother-in-law, Doug Webb; and one niece, Jennifer Friend.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 28th at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose and Bro. David Ballard. Burial will be at the Hidden Falls Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, September 27th at the funeral home.

William Herman Childers, 71

    William Herman Childers, 71, of Wagers Mountain Road, Ravenna, Kentucky, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born March 1, 1945 and was the son of the late Courtney and Marie Howard Childers. Bill grew up in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and later lived in St. Augustine, Florida and Estill County.
    He is survived by his children; Todd H. Childers, Michael Childers (Rhonda), both of Estill County; William Flint Childers, Alexandria Butler (Shaun), both of Alabama; Courtney Childers, Brenda Childers, both of Florida; and Sarah Andrews (Dwayne), Estill County; and 12 grandchildren.
    A private memorial will be held at a later date. The family requests any condolences be expressed with a donation to the wonderful Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Bill’s memory.

Cindy Marie Thacker Rison, 42

    Cindy Marie Thacker Rison, age 42, of Furnace Junction Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born October 25, 1973, in Estill County, the daughter of James Ralph and Helen Sue Frazier Thacker. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She attended the Roadside Mission Church.
    In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her husband, Stanley Dale Rison; a son, Brett Michael Rison, Ravenna; and two brothers: Darrell Thacker and Farrell Thacker, both of Estill County.
    Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, September 21st at 11 a.m. at the Cobb Hill Cemetery by Bro. Henry Johnson.
    Pallbearers were Keith Thacker, Ryan Thacker, Bill Rogers, Clayton Wise, Bennie Bishop and Mike Mays.

Terry W. Chesnut, 52

    Terry W. Chesnut, age 52, of Clark County, Kentucky, husband for 26 years to Shelly Martin Chesnut, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Hazard A.R.H. Medical Center.
    A native of Winchester, he was born April 16, 1964 to the late Albert “Wayne” Chesnut and Judy A. Baber Chesnut Blackwell of Winchester. Terry had a bachelors of Science from Eastern Kentucky University 5-12 Science and Social Studies Secondary Education, Masters of Arts from Northern Kentucky University in Special Education Learning Behavioral Disorders, 7 years of teaching experience with Harrison County Public Schools and Pendleton County Public Schools, and current owner of Chestnut Hill Foods dba American Favorites Mobile Restaurant. He was an ordained Minister for Salem Fellowship Institute, an online Christian School, he worked for the Red Cross as an EMT tech, he had a special interest in Creation Science, fishing, boating, graphic design, computer programming and cooking.
    In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, Brian S. Chesnut, a daughter, Shelby M. Chesnut Gordon; a son, Albert W. Chesnut; a daughter, Aletheia C. Chesnut; a daughter, Valerie A. Chesnut Porto; a daughter, Kimberly J. Chesnut Collins, sons-in-law, Matthew, Andrew and Nick; grandsons, Draven and Aiden; granddaughters, Aislynn, Alaina, Erin and Enora; and one nephew, Jonathan.
    He was preceded in death by step-father, Paul H. Blackwell; and two daughters, Jacqueline R. and Rachel L. Chesnut.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Winchester, with Sam Marsh presiding. The family received friends on Tuesday, Sept 20, from 5-8 p. m.at the funeral home. Burial was in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

Sylvia Jane Wilson

    Sylvia Jane Wilson, age 69, of McKee Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, at her granddaughter's house surrounded by her family following a long illness.
    She was born February 22, 1947, in Madison County, the daughter of Bobby Jean Brandenburg White and the late Ernest Eugene “Gene” White. She was the owner of Jane’s Hair Studio where she was a hairdresser. She then retired from MEPCO. She had lived in Estill County all of her life and was a member of the Ravenna Christian Church.
    Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon “Flash” Wilson.
    In addition to her mother, she is also survived by three daughters: Angela Flynn, (Gerald), Julie Richardson (Kevin) and Rebecca Fowler, all of Irvine; a brother, Tony White (Paula), Berea; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and a special cousin, Jenny Blevins.
    Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 24th at the Ravenna Christian Church by Bro. Tony White. Friends may call after 11 a.m., Saturday at the church.

Betty J. Easter

    Betty J. Easter of Union Township, Ohio, age 84, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
    She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Harry Easter, loving mother of Linda Easter, and was born November 8, 1931, the daughter of the late Hannah Fultz and Curt Ross. She was the dear sister of Elizabeth Geraldine Noland.
    Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by two brothers.
    She was the cherished grandmother of Sharon Brandt and aunt of Janette McGreal.
    Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
