Jeffery Kirk Harrison, 60

    Jeffery Kirk Harrison, 60, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Marcum and Wallace Hospital.
    A native of Fort Polk, Louisiana, born November 29, 1956, he was the son of William Jennings and Ailene Woods Harrison. The "Sports Dad," he enjoyed fishing, doing his job, driving his bus and taking care of children.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Elaine Chandler Harrison.
    Survivors include his daughters, Shelby Culton (Justin) and Holly Harrison; a son, Matthew Harrison (Meredith); sisters Sherry Dawes (Roger) and Karen Jo Fielder; a grandson, Ethan Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services will be private.

Danny Lowell Reynolds, 70

    Danny Lowell Reynolds, age 70, of Twin Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born August 3, 1946 in Boyd County, Kentucky, and was the son of Ruth Scott Reynolds and the late Glen L. Reynolds. He was a retired Tokico employee and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a member of the Cow Creek Baptist Church and a former Mason.
    Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one daughter, Lisa Reynolds Edge (Johnathon), Midway; one son, Daniel Scott Reynolds (Rebecca), Bowling Green; two sisters: Carol Ann Haller and Bo McCreary (Jim), both of Irvine; and four grandchildren: Anna Elizabeth Edge, Lucas Cash Edge, Caroline Rose Edge and Elle Marie Reynolds.
    He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Steve Haller III.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Greg McClellan. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 Noon, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Daniel Scott Reynolds, Johnathon Edge, Steve Haller, IV, Johnny Masters, Jimmy McCreary and Jeff McCreary.
    Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Rebecca Ann Hardy Dixon

    Rebecca Ann Hardy Dixon, age 51, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017.
    She was born in Irvine, Kentucky, on October 12, 1965, to Glendon Hardy and the late Darlene Norton Hardy. Rebecca worked as a nurse’s aid with home-health, and was known as a compassionate, fun loving individual.
    In addition to her father, Rebecca is survived by her two daughters, Emily Dixon-Kays (Cory) and Shelbie Dixon; one brother, Greg Hardy; three sisters, Jennifer Tipton, Kathy Turner, and Robin Turpin. Rebecca was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first grandson, Lincoln Kays, in July.
    In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Hardy, and her long-time partner, Larry Dale Gray Jr.
    Funeral Services were conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Joey Kays officiating. Visitation was after 4 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Bobby Wayne Sloane

    Bobby Wayne Sloane was born on December 8, 1958, in Fayette County, Kentucky, the son of the late Johnny Brooks and Lillian Jones and departed this life at his residence on Friday, April 7, 2017, being 58 years, 3 months and 30 days of age. He was a construction backhoe operator and was of the Baptist faith.
    He is survived by seven siblings, Phillip Jones (Claudia Butler) of London, Gene Jones (Audrey), Penny Brooks (Shane), both of Mt. Sterling; Johnny Brooks (Julie), Megan Parks (Tim), Michelle Brooks, all of Irvine; and Brenda Sloane of Covington; one granddaughter, Makala Fergerson of Richmond; his stepmother, Betty Brooks of Irvine; his long-time companion, Joetta Woolery and her children, Joseph and Kimberly Woolery, all of Winchester; plus a host of nieces and nephews and other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
    In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Lynn Fergerson.
    Funeral services for Bobby Wayne Sloane were conducted at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 9th in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, London, Kentucky, with Rev. Charlie Hollin officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m., Sunday until the funeral hour.

Bonnie Mae Stone

    Bonnie Mae Stone, age 87, of Cressy Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Markey Cancer Center.
    She was born January 1, 1930 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Embry Riddell. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of the Continental Baking Company. She was a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church and formerly a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Jackson Stone.
    She is survived by one daughter, Judith Elaine Stone Marwil (David), Lexington; two brothers: David Paul Riddell, Middletown, Ohio; and Larry Jack Riddell, Irvine; four grandchildren: Joseph Marwil, Isaac Marwil, Jacob Marwil and Misha Brown; two great grandchildren three great, great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lloyd Stone and seven brothers and sisters.

    Jewell Dean Aldridge, age 82, of Meade Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born April 5, 1935 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late William Columbus and Susan Horn Flanery. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Assembly of God.
    Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Aldridge, Jr.
    She is survived by two sons: Thomas Lee Aldridge (Mary), Colorado; and William Charles Aldridge (Brenda), Irvine; three sisters: Martha Frisbee, Tennessee; Gloria Newman, Newport; and Norma Flanery, Winchester; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Carol Lee; one sister, Betty Flanery; and two brothers, James and Lindburg Flanery.

    Timothy Joe Henry, age 54, of Timberland Trail in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at his home following a sudden illness.
    He was born August 25, 1962 in Estill County and was the son of the late Marvin Allen and Della Mae Puckett Henry. He was owner of Henry Construction Company and had lived in Estill County all his life. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
    Mr. Henry is survived by one daughter, Abigail Faith Henry, Estill County; two sons: Brian Joe Henry, Estill County; and Brandon Henry, Madison County; one sister, Debbie Walling (Jack), Estill County; three brothers: Greg Henry (Debbie), Jeff Henry (Della), and Jeff Gould (Robin), all of Estill County; and two grandchildren: Kaden Joe Henry and Braden Joe Henry.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Noe.

    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was a son of the late James P. and Rebecca Sparks Martin. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

    Arlie Townsend, age 64, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at Baptist Health, Lexington, Kentucky.
    He was born October 8, 1952 in Lee County and was the son of the late Charlie and Edith Cole Townsend. He had worked in the oil fields and the log woods and lived in Lee County most of his life.
    Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Mafrey McIntosh Townsend; one son, Michael McIntosh (Lisa), Lee County; and four grandchildren: Mickeal Ambers, Nathaniel Ambers, Jaden Williams and Jocelyn Townsend.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

    Curtis Jefferson Rose, age 86, of Irvine, Kentucky, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    He was born February 5, 1931 in Berea, Kentucky to the late Albert and Mattie Holland Rose. He served as a safe builder (Hamilton, Ohio), had been a resident of Kentucky for over 30 years, and he attended the Bear Wallow Holiness Church.
    In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lula Belle Shelton Rose; daughter, Evelyn Lavone Lear; one sister, Evelyn Lear; and brothers, John Allen Rose, Alex Rose and Earl Gene Rose.
    He is survived by three children, Searie Hutchins, Della Abrams, and Marvin Rose (Lisa); nine grandchildren, Robin, Renaye, Tasha, Alisha, Mindy, Destiny, Jerry, David and Lindsey, 14 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
    The funeral service in honor of Curtis Jefferson Rose was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Reppert Funeral Home in Berea, with burial at the family cemetery. The famiily received visitors from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

    Marcella Sue Isaacs Doty, age 78, widow of James Doty, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at her home.
    A native of Estill County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Bethel Richardson Isaacs. She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, sewing, decorating and tending to her flower gardens.
    She was preceded in death by her son, James R. Doty; daughter, Sonia Able; brother, Jerry Isaacs; and her sisters, Arlene Worrell, Anetta Coyle, Bobby Jean Harrison, and Louella Rose.
    Mrs. Doty is survived by her sons, Brian Doty (Jennifer), Todd Doty; a son-in-law, Eugene Able; two daughters, Cynthia Barnes (Roger), Brittany Miller (Chris); two brothers, Harold Isaacs and Russell Isaacs; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
    Services were held on Thursday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Sherl Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5th at the funeral home.

Joseph McKinney

    Joseph Marlin McKinney, age 78, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
    A native of Frenchburg, he was the son of the late Morthan “Bulger” and Anzy Hasty McKinney. A veteran of the United States Army, he spent most of his life as a resident of Lexington, Nicholasville, and called Estill County home for the past nearly 20 years. He was known as the “pony man” to children of Fayette County, and “mule man” or “chicken man” to many others. He enjoyed any equine activity, collecting friends everywhere, square dancing, clogging, and training chickens. He was the greeter at the Estill County Animal Clinic, a horse dentist, and a school bus driver.
    Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his son, David McKinney; and his sister, Erma Athleen Phillips.
    Survivors include his long time companion, Linda Grimes; three sons, Joseph Marlin McKinney Jr., Stevie McKinney, and Scotty McKinney; a daughter, Sheila Fugate; two brothers: Trevor Douglas McKinney and Neal Tracy McKinney; three sisters, Eula Maxine Parrish, Ruthie Ilene Fraley, and Patricia Lou (Bob) McLemore; and many pets.
    Services were held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.. Burial with military rights followed in the Berryman Cemetery. Friends called anytime after noon on Saturday.

Bro. Danny Burnom Baker, 65

    Bro. Danny Burnom Baker, 65, of Dreyfus, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    Bro. Danny, the son of the late Burnom Baker and Gladys Hunter Baker, was born in Madison County on February 1, 1952. He had worked as an auto mechanic painter and enjoyed looking at old cars. Since 1996, he served as Assistant Pastor at the Richmond House of Prayer. He loved his church and serving in that capacity.
    On September 29, 1994, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Scenters Baker who survives.
    Bro. Danny is also survived by two sons: Daniel Baker (Ashley) of Berea and Timothy Coffey (Rebecca) of Lancaster; two daughters: Marilyn Baker of Richmond and Alisya Shouse (Tim) of Berea; his brother, Mitchell Baker; four sisters: Paulette Gilliam (Gene), Kay Evans (William), Myrna Hehr (Wally) and Ruth Felty; ten grandchildren: Brandon Coffey, Amber Locker, Abbie Rippeon, Chevy Coffey, Brayden Baker, Eil Coffey, Ava Baker, T. J. Shouse (Tasha), Austin Isaacs (Racheal), and Eli Ratliff; and a number of great grandchildren.
    He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Dale Baker and Noland Baker; and two sisters: Carolyn Bradley and Donna Gabbard.

    Odell Newton, age 69, of St. Timothy Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born January 7, 1948 in Estill County and was the son of the late Dillard and Daisy Canter Newton. He was a construction worker and had lived in Estill County all his life. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Estes Newton.
    He is survived by three daughters: Chrystal Taylor, Ella Gordon, both of Estill County; and Judy Rose, Louisville; two sisters: Jewel Dean Young and Annie Jane Berryman, both of Estill County; two brothers: Shelby Newton and Madford Newton, both of Estill County; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by one daughter, Amee Newton; two sisters: Christine Newton and Farrell Jean Newton; and four brothers: George, Junior, James and Edward Newton.

Cecil Estes, 76

    Cecil Estes, age 76, of Palatka, Florida, passed from this life on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.
    A native of Millers Creek, Kentucky, Cecil resided in Palatka since 1978, coming from Winchester, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky and was an avid Wildcat fan. Cecil worked 35 years with Bell South Telephone Company, retiring as assistant manager of construction. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a 50-year Mason, a member of Pineland Lodge #86 F&AM and a member of College Road Church of Christ. In his leisure time, Cecil enjoyed model building and working on cars.
    Cecil is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille P. Estes of Palatka; two sons: Brian Cecil Estes of Palatka and Christopher Jason Estes (Tracy) of Newark, Delaware; two brothers: Jesse Estes (Clara) and David Estes (Barbara), all of Winchester, Kentucky; two nieces, Dana Stanfield (Billy) and Sue Johnson (Larry), all of Winchester; and a nephew, Richard Estes, also of Winchester.
    Services celebrating Cecil’s life were at 11:00 a.m.. Tuesday, April 4th at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. C.L. Overturf Jr. officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites followed at Westview Cemetery in Palatka. The family received friends on Monday, April 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    William Elgin Crump, 65, passed away, Thursday, March 30, 2017 in Georgetown, Kentucky.
    He was born April 30, 1951 in Cynthiana to Betty Elizabeth Bryant Crump and the late William Elgin Crump Sr. He enjoyed farming and working with animals.
    Along with his mother, he is survived by his son, James Crump (Tammy) and daughter, Patricia Crump, both of Irvine; grandchildren, Megan Rose, Zachary Crump, Savannah Warner, and Brandon Warner; great grandchildren, Emily Rose and Logan Rose; brothers, Terry Crump and David Crump; sisters, Maria Carr and Rita Omby; and the mother of his children, Brenda Vinson.

    She was born April 7, 1929 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Clarence Edgar and Helen Richardson Moore. She was a retired Verizon employee and a member of the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Dennis.

    She was born in Estill County on May 1, 1938, the daughter of the late Aaron and Annie Mae Powell Abner. She was a retired supervisor for Kentucky American Water Company in Lexington and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Berea.
    Survivors include one daughter, Tamra Reed Shearer (Dempsey); one sister, Mabel Willis of Irvine; a sister-in-law, Irma Abner; one granddaughter, Chelsea Shearer; three step-grandchildren: Shane Shearer (Laura), Dempsey Alan Shearer (Debbie) and Jamie Ledet; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
    The family would like to acknowledge her longtime friendship with the Peacemakers MC Club.
    Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7th at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Red Hill Cemetery at Panola in Madison County. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m., Thursday evening, April 6th at the funeral home.

Jack Young, 74

    Jack Young, age 74, of Garrett Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Baptist Health Richmond Hospital, following a short illness. He was born June 7, 1942 in Estill County, a son of the late Theo and Maggie Isaacs Young. He was a retired dozer operator and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
    Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Brenda Lou McKinney Young; two sons: Jackie Young (Heather), Powell County; and Jason Young (Becky), Estill County; two sisters: Darlene Calmes (Darrell) and Marie Young, both of Estill County; two brothers: Roy Young (Thelma) and Troy Young, both of Estill County; a brother-in-law, Ray Spivey, Estill County; and a sister-in-law, Jewell Young, Estill County.
    He was preceded in death by a grandson: Dustin Young; and five siblings: Jeanette Spivey, Geraldine Newton, Ella Young, Frank Young, and Luther Young.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 1st at 2 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tony Belcher with burial following in the Dunn Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Saturday, until service time, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Michael McKinney, Dalton McKinney, Adam McKinney, Shannon Gross, Wayne Walling and Brian Calmes.

SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to Residents of Kentucky Affected by Severe Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Winds and Hail

     Kentucky businesses and residents affected by severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, winds and hail from Feb. 28 through March 1, 2017 can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, SBA Administrator Linda E. McMahon announced today.
     McMahon made the loans available in response to a letter on March 16 from Michael E. Dossett, Authorized Representative of Gov. Matthew Bevin, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. The declaration covers Estill County and the adjacent counties of Clark, Jackson, Lee, Madison and Powell in Kentucky.
     "The SBA is strongly committed to providing the people of Kentucky with the most effective and customer-focused response possible to assist businesses of all sizes, homeowners and renters with federal disaster loans," said McMahon. "Getting businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA."
     SBA's customer service representatives will be available at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center to answer questions about the disaster loan program and help individuals complete their applications. The Center is located in the following community and is open as indicated:

     Businesses and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.
     For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.
     Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.
     Applicants may be eligible for a loan amount increase up to 20 percent of their physical damages, as verified by the SBA for mitigation purposes. Eligible mitigation improvements may now include a safe room or storm shelter to help protect property and occupants from future damage caused by a similar disaster.
     Interest rates are as low as 3.15 percent for businesses, 2.5 percent for nonprofit organizations, and 1.875 percent for homeowners and renters with terms up to 30 years. Loan amount and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant's financial condition.
     Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA's secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. .
     Businesses and individuals may also obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA's Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing), or by emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can also be downloaded at www.sba.gov/disaster. Completed applications should be returned to the center or mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
     The filing deadline to submit applications for physical property damage is May 19, 2017. The deadline for economic injury applications is Dec. 20, 2017.
