Harold Douglas Brandenburg

    Harold Douglas Brandenburg, age 72, of Reese Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the Baptist Health Lexington following a short illness.
    He was born August 6, 1944 in Estill County and was the son of the late Fred and Willie Hume Richardson Brandenburg. He was a retired United States Post Office employee and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a former member of the United States Army Reserves. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    He is survived by his wife, Carol Mabry Brandenburg; one daughter, Leah Brandenburg Ison (Robert), Madison County; one son, Jason Douglas Brandenburg (Tracy), Madison County; two sisters: Madonna Jenkins and Evelyn Jean Williams, both of Estill County; one brother, Fred Brandenburg Jr., Estill County; and four grandchildren: Hannah Beth Ison, Natalie Ann Ison, Jesse Kate Brandenburg and Josie Kara Brandenburg.
    He was preceded in death by four sisters: Lillian Kirk, Delma Lee Lakes, Lena B. Henry and Jo Etta Brandenburg; and two brothers, Russell and James Brandenburg.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 17, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial will be at the Congleton Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 16th at the funeral home.

James Gary Calmes

    James Gary Calmes, age 73, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky.
    Mr. Calmes was a retired United States Army Chaplin. He was born February 20, 1944, the son of the late Harold and Burnadean Pruitt Calmes. Mr. Calmes was a veteran of the Vietnam war and a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he studied theology. He was an avid runner in his younger days, and enjoyed world travel, and his family.
    Survivors include his son, Juneau Calmes (Mary); and his grandchildren: Devon Calmes and Claire Calmes.
    Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 20th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals. Burial will follow in West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 19th at the funeral home.

Wendy Elizabeth Rice

    On May 14, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Mercy Health Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio, Heaven was given a beautiful Angel. Wendy Elizabeth Rice, age 28, of Parvin Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, following complications of pneumonia.
    She was born March 17, 1989 in Fayette County and was the daughter of Wendell Dale Rice Jr. and Vanessa Kay Rice. She was a member of Outreach Holiness Church and a former member of Kappa Delta when she attended Eastern Kentucky University.
    Survivors, in addition to her father and mother, include two daughters: Karsen Bryn Thacker and Emerson Rice Thacker; one niece, Nola Combs; two sisters: Morgan Judith-Paige Combs (Matt) and Payten Blair Rice; and her most cherished friend, John Honchell.
    She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mattie Warner; and her grandfather, Wendell Rice Sr.
    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 18, 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Greg Humpbert. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 17th at the funeral home.

Mildred L. Campbell McIntosh

    Mildred L. Campbell McIntosh, age 69, widow of Elzie passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
    Mrs. McIntosh was a native of Estill County, born December 6, 1947, a daughter of the late James and Mattie Henry Campbell. She was a homemaker and member of the Victory Tabernacle Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spoiling her granddaughters.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rachel; her siblings: Lillian White, Margie Osborne, Carrie Campbell, Bud Campbell, Harry Campbell, Russell Campbell, Ronnie Campbell, Cecil Ross, Gladys Richardson and Bethel Miller.
    Survivors include her daughters: Jackie Ash (Randy) and Lisa Miller (Randy); her granddaughters: Jacqueline Roberts and Jessica Day (Whitley); her great granddaughter, Macy Jo Day; and her brothers: Charles Campbell (Loraine), and James Campbell (Ruth) .
    Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 19th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Geral Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Randy Miller, Randy Ash, Tony Renner,, Tony Campbell, Whitley Day, and Doug Newton.

    Neffie Woosley, age 91, of Harris Ferry Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born March 11, 1926 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willie and Geneva Richardson Freeman. She was a retired Curlee Clothing employee and a member of the Corinth Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Woosley was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Woosley.
    She is survived by two daughters: Betty Wise (Glen) and Pauline Dunaway (Linville), both of Estill County; one son, Ivan “Sonny” Woosley (Willene), Estill County; one sister, Gay “Tina” Strassner, Estill County; seven grandchildren: Scott Woosley (Lori), Tonia Reed (Dan), Paula Lee (David), Nelena Seales (Tim), James Dunaway (Kimberly) Jonathan Wise (Jennifer) and Stephanie Isaacs (Ronnie); 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Lou Estes; two brothers: John Henry Freeman and Ray Freeman; and two great grandchildren, Andy Reed and Davy Lee.

    Raymond Kelly, age 74, of Barnes Mountain Road in Irvine passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home following a battle with cancer.
    He was born February 18, 1943 in Estill County and was the son of the late William Achilles and Kate Flannery Kelly. He was a retired construction worker and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Wilma Newman Kelly; one daughter, Lisa Kelly, Estill County; three sons: Wayne Kelly, Kenny Ray Kelly, and Raymond Gene Kelly, all of Estill County; five sisters: Catherine Jones, Madison County; Cleta Cox, Indiana; Treva Margison Estill County; Ella Arvin Estill County; and Margaret Grindstaff, Madison County; one brother, G.B. Kelley (Fonda), Estill County; six grandchildren: Brandon Kelly, Andrew Kelly, Phillip Kelly, Cassondra Alexander, Summer Nicole Moore and Naysa Kelly; and five great grandchildren: Clayton Nathaniel Alexander, Brooklyn Moore, Jaylen Moore, Benson Kelly and Logan Kelly.
    He was preceded in death by five sisters: Irene Moon, Jeanette Marshall, Clara Kelly, Claudia Kelly and Nannie Florence.

    Richard Charles Henry, age 87, of Sweet Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born February 18, 1930 in Estill County and was the son of the late Charlie and Lula Rawlins Henry. He was the former owner of Henry Supply and attended the Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Henry is survived by his wife, Nora Louise Powell Henry; one daughter, Freida Lancaster, Estill County; three sons: Tony Wayne Henry (Missy), Clark County; Richard Lynn Henry (Patty), and Jesse Lancaster (Sherrie), both of Estill County; two brothers: Kenneth Henry and Pete Henry, both of Estill County; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Glenn Henry.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 12, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Glennis Sizemore and Bro. Delvin Reece. Burial was at the Henry Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.

    Henry Tracy Johnson, loving father and grandfather, age 80, of Furnace Junction, Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his home. He was the Pastor and Founder of Roadside Mission Church of God. He was a retired customer service employee of Clark Energy Cooperative and was employed by The Kroger Company in Stanton.
    Survivors include one son, Daniel Johnson (Angie); three daughters: Carol Rogers (Goble), Julie Appleby (Joe), and Marissa Cheryl Puckett (Bob); a brother, Fred Johnson Jr. a sister, Zania Clayton; grandchildren: Tracy, Billy, Nina, Timothy, Randall, Shayla, Tiffany, Christopher, Kyle, Sarah, Ashleigh, Amber, and Chase; and numerous great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Morton and Sarah Elizabeth Marcum Johnson; wife, Freida McIntosh Johnson; brothers, Rodney, Roy, Walker, Glendon, Claude, and Gaylon Johnson; and sisters, Ethel and Mabel.
    Services were held Friday, May 12, 11:00 a.m. at Roadside Mission Church of God. Celebration of life church services were held Wednesday, May 10, 6:00 p.m. and visitation was held on Thursday, May 11, after 6:00 p.m., all at the church. Burial was in the Freida Johnson Memorial Cemetery with Arthur Spicer, Goble Rogers, Joseph Appleby, Bobby Puckett, Christopher Johnson, and Harold Bailey serving as pallbearers.

    Ivadell Ruth Wilson Hart, age 82, of Winchester, Kentucky, widow of Gordon Wilson Jr., passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Sayre Christian Village in Lexington.
    She was born in Estill County on September 19, 1934, to the late Lendon R. and Marie Pennington Cox. She was a member of the Christian Faith.
    Ms. Hart is survived by sons and daughter, Duard Lee Wilson, Rogers Wayne Wilson, Gordon Wilson, all of Winchester; Lewis Robert Hart Jr., and Cathy Hart; one sister, Pauline Benton; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Paul Lendon Wilson; and her husband, Lewis Hart.
    Funeral services were Sunday, May 14, at 3:00 p.m., at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Winchester. Visitation was Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Burial was in the Wilson Family Cemetery on Muddy Creek Road in Winchester.

    She was born April 30, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Francis Michael and Helen Leonartson Clary. She was a retired corrections officer with the State of Ohio. She had lived in Estill County for the past year.
    Ms. Dunn is survived by one daughter, Jean Cole, Estill County; three grandchildren: Christina Brooks, Amanda Roush and Amber Roush; and four great grandchildren: Aubry Rose, Dominic Chaey, Braydon Brooks and Wyatt Roush.

    He was born April 26, 1946 in Ransom, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Woodrow and Gladys Blackburn Scott. He was a United States Navy veteran and a retired Sherman Williams employee. He attended the Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jones Scott.
    He is survived by one daughter, Christina Scott, South Carolina; one son, Benjamin Scott, Indiana; two stepdaughters: Angie Clowers and Carol Clowers, both of Estill County; three stepsons: Mike Means, Texas; Stanley Means, Estill County; and Darrell Means, Ohio; four sisters: Patsy McClure, Ohio; Peggy Rose, Tennessee; Judy Good, Maryland; and Dorothy Steele, Pike County; one brother, Jackie Scott, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    Mr. Scott was preceded in death by one son, David Scott; one stepson, Kenneth ‘Therm’ Means; one sister, Bunny DeLauder; and two brothers, Wilkie Scott and Michael Scott.

    She was born June 27, 1941 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late P.B. and Emma Murdell McIntosh. She was a retired Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center employee and a member of the Irvine First Christian Church and the Lions Club. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband, F.W. Henry.
    She is survived by two sons: Jeff Crouch and Henry Crouch (Evonne), both of Estill County; one grandchild, Jeffery Crouch; and two brothers: Jerry McIntosh and Danny McIntosh (Sharon), both of Estill County.
    She was preceded in death by several siblings.

     The Estill County Tribune will be publishing a 2017 Graduation Edition on graduation day, Wednesday, May 17, 2017. We hope to have photos of every graduating senior, however, despite using those graciously provided by the school’s yearbook sponsor, we have several missing, unidentified or needing a color photo instead of black and white (b/w). Please check the list of missing photos below and if your name is included send a photo immediately with your name to .
