James W. Ingram, 96

    James W. Ingram, age 96, of Elm Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    He was born June 3, 1921 in Paint Lick, Kentucky, and was the son of the late James William and Myrtle E. Coldiron Ingram. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He worked as an environmentalist with the Clark County Health Department and attended the Christian Worship Center.
    Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife, Nancy Strong Ingram; two daughters: Janet Kay Ingram, Portland, Oregon; and Sandra Elizabeth Ingram Bonny (Jim), Irvine; and two grandchildren: Matthew and Caleb Bonny.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Geneva Ingram Edwards.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 11, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Donald James Sheeks Sr., 63

    Donald James Sheeks Sr., age 63, of North Sulphur Wells Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born February 6, 1954 in Bedford, Indiana and was the son of the late James Reath Sheeks and Marilyn Bussey Sheeks Mornout. He was a retired police officer who served with the Irvine Police Department and Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of the Panola Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Sheeks is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Cockrell Sheeks; one daughter, Melissa Puckett, North Carolina; one son, Donald Sheeks Jr., Estill County; two brothers: John Sheeks, Texas; and David Sheeks, Florida; three grandchildren: Makayla Ann Sheeks, Madison Nicole Puckett and Malachi Belegy.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Jean Sheeks.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 10, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Marvin Neal. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, October 9th at the funeral home.

Earl David Watts Sr., 51

    Earl David Watts Sr., age 51, husband of Suzanne Embs Watts, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home.
    A native of Clark County, he was born on March 2, 1966, to the late Benjamin Taylor Watts Jr. and Irene Finney Watts. He was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church and worked at Jimmy’s Tire and Lube.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Kelly Lynn Watts and Earl David Watts Jr.; four brothers: Charles Watts (Kathy), Kenneth Watts, Joe Watts and Vernon Watts (Sandy); and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until time of service, 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 9, at El Bethel United Methodist Church, 5229 Trapp-Goffs Corner Road, Winchester, by Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will follow in Thacker Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Josh Watts, Allen Baber, John Estes, Wesley Miller, David Watts, Tony Watts, Benjamin Watts and Jimmy Miller.

Stephen Fore, 65

    Stephen Fore, 65, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Baptist Health in Richmond.
    A native of Estill County, he was a son of the late Linus and Elizabeth Cecil Fore. He was a graduate of Irvine High and Eastern Kentucky University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Fore was a member of Ravenna Methodist Church. He was the former owner of Fore Auto Supply, a NRA member and fervent supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He loved his family and was a marvelous father and grandfather.
    Survivors include his son, Mike Fore (Marie); brother, Blaine Fore (Rita); grandchildren, Caroline and Emily Fore; and former spouse, Sharon Sullivan.
    Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Tony White officiating. A private burial will follow. Friends called anytime after 12:00 Noon on Monday at the funeral home.
    Serving as pallbearers were Larry Auxier, Richard Snowden, Steve Puckett, Charles Riggs, Hank Henson, and Marvin Land.

Helen Ann Price, 71

    Helen Ann Price, age 71, of Circle Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center.
    She was born June 11, 1945 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Harlan and Sarand Crouch Horn. She was a homemaker and attended the Broadway First Church of God. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Carolton Price.
    She is survived by two daughters: Connie A. Shepperson and Christine King, both of Richmond; one sister: Virginia Wiseman, Lexington; one brother: Mason Horn, Missouri; four grandchildren: Joshua Shepperson (LeeAnn), Berea; Amber Shepperson, Brandon Campbell, and Sydney King, all of Richmond; and two great grandchildren: Makenna Shepperson and Hunter Shepperson.
    She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law: David Shepperson and Tommy King; three sisters: Bethel Johnson, Lydia Witt, and Louellen Walton; and two brothers: Marvin Henry and William Horn.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 8, 2 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kevin Turpin. Burial was at the Richardson Cemetery. Friends called after 12:00 Noon, Sunday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Gregory Henry, Dwight Horn, David Wiseman, Craig Fields, Glendon Fields and Casey Price.

John Nolan Rucker

    John Nolan Rucker, age 94, husband of Edna Rucker, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born December 28, 1922 in Madison County and was the son of the late Schuyler and Nannie Smith Rucker. He was retired from American Tobacco Company in Lexington and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church at Red Lick. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Rucker was preceded in death by one daughter, Naomi Ruth Rucker.
    He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Edna Johnson Rucker; two sons: Roscoe Rucker (Mary) and Glenn Rucker (Margie), both of Estill County; one daughter, Katherine Rucker Dixon (Donald), Estill County; four grandchildren: Alison Rucker Miller, Rose Rucker, Stacy Rucker Johnson and Justin Dixon; three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild; and four step-great, great grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 9, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Marion Brewer and Bro. Jason Brooks. Burial was at the Joe Miller Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, October 8th at the funeral home.

Rodney David Marcum

    Rodney David Marcum, age 65, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
    Rodney was born August 6, 1952, in London, Kentucky, a son to the late Johnnie and Joyce (Hunter) Marcum. He was a retired electrician for Dotson Electric in Bowling Green, a faithful member at Warrens Chapel in Vincent, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, trap shooting at the Owsley County Sportsman Club, and off roading with his 4-wheeler, and classic cars.
    He is survived by one daughter; April Miller (David) of Carrolton; one granddaughter, Taylor Miller; one sister; Javenne Brandenburg (Earl) of Irvine; three brothers: Teddy Paul Marcum (Cindy) of Winchester, Johnnie H. Marcum (Joni) of Beattyville, and Brian Marcum (Lesa) of Booneville; nieces: Sonya Carroll (Terry), Missy Hunt (Teddy ), and Ashley Marcum, Rachel Marcum, Tamanya Marcum, and Poreche Marcum; nephews: Chris Marcum (Crystal), Jordan Marcum (Miranda), Keaton Marcum, and Dylan Hayes (Lindsey), great nieces: Teia, Keyona, Tedra, Alexus, Aaleigha, Peyton, and Addi, a special friend; James Phillips, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
    Rodney was preceded in death by parents, and his loving fiancé of 28 years, Jenny Lynn Brown.
    Visitation was held Saturday, October 7, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, 3450 Ky. Hwy. 11 North in Booneville. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend J. Jamison Brunk and Pastor Ronnie Hurst officiating. Rodney was laid to rest in the Marcum Family Cemetery, located in the Pebworth Community of Booneville.

Jeremy Allen McManus, 38

    Jeremy Allen McManus, age 38, of Hunting Club Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born August 24, 1979, a son of Patrick and Sandra Lyons McManus. He was a mechanic with Evans Tire Company and has lived in Estill County for the past three years.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Hanna Dawes McManus; a daughter, Etta-Lynn Dawes McManus; a son, Deacon Dawes; his step-father, Everett Arthur; one sister, Allison Conner, Richmond; a brother, Adam McManus, Irvine; and a sister-in-law, Jennifer McManus.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers: Shawn and Jason McManus.
    Private services will be conducted at a later date.

Leonard Isaacs Jr.

    Leonard Isaacs Jr. was born February 2, 1940 in Jackson County, Kentucky, and departed this life Monday, October 2, 2017 at his residence, being 77 years of age. He was the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Lakes) Isaacs.
    Jr. is survived by three daughters, Terri Daugherty (Warren) of Waco, Tammy Day (Bob) of Berea and Tracy Clark (Michael) of Waco; and by one brother, Leon Isaacs (Shirley) of McKee.
    He is also survived by his companion of 43 years, Lucille Taylor of Sand Gap; and by her children, Lewis, Billy and Larry Taylor, all of Sand Gap. He was blessed with the following grandchildren, April & Brandy Daugherty, Shonna Hager, Clayton, Justin & Jimmy Clark, Sean Day, Zachary, Cheyenne, Dakota, Jonah, Nate & Damien Taylor; and four great grandchildren, Logan Grimmer, Preston Wilt, Kaylee Hager and Aaliyah Taylor.
    In addition to his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by two brothers, Tilford Isaacs and Ernest Isaacs; and by four sisters, Thelma Welch, Eva Hisel, Neva Hisel and an infant sister Ethel Isaacs.
    He was a member of the Kerby Knob Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street S, McKee, with Bro. Eugene Gentry officiating. Burial followed in the Hisel Cemetery.

Walter Thomas Robinson, 88

    Walter Thomas Robinson, age 88, a resident of the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, at his home, following a long illness.
    He was born June 16, 1929, in Madison County, a son of the late Leonard and Rosetta Hutchens Robinson. He was a retired Baptist Minister after preaching for 54 years. He pastored churches in Estill, Lee, Madison, and Garrard Counties. He was a United States Army Veteran where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a Kentucky Colonel and had lived in Estill County for over 40 years. He was a member of the Owsley Fork Baptist Church.
    Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Bethel Woosley Robinson.
    He is survived by four sisters: Ona French, Madison County; Gladys Muncie, Estill County; Edna Mae Newman, Madison County; and Mary Ruth Babb, Clark County; and three brothers: John Robinson, Hubert Robinson, both of Madison County; and Richard Robinson, Alabama.
    He was preceded in death by four siblings: Anna Catherine Newman, Mona Robinson, Robert Robinson, and William H. Robinson.

    Scotty Tipton, age 66, of South Irvine Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Good Samaritan, following a long illness.
    He was born October 16, 1950, in Estill County, a son of the late Dan and Rose Noland Tipton. He was a member of the VFW where he served as the bartender and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Jill Tipton.
    He is survived by a daughter, Allison Gosnell, Estill County; three sons: Barry Scott Tipton, Estill County; Michael Brent Tipton, Maryland; and Daniel Jacob Tipton, Estill County; two sisters: Rose Eversole and Ruby Eversole, both of Fayette County; three brothers: Jerry Tipton, Bruce Tipton, both of Estill County; and Eddie Eversole, Fayette County; and six grandchildren.
    Memorial services were conducted Thursday, October 5th at 12 Noon at the Noland Cemetery.

    Zelma Lee Adams Hall, 87, widow of Oakley Hall passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, after a long illness.
    She was a native of Estill County, born September 6, 1930, a daughter of the late David Garrett Adams and Nannie Beth Richardson Adams. She was a former employee of the Estill County School District and and retired from CMS in Richmond.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her siblings: Jennings Adams, Pauline Huff, Lorenna Adams, and Imogene Miksell.
    Survivors include her sons: Harold Hall (Kathy), David Hall (and special friend Judy Baugh), and Roger Hall (Movetta); her grandchildren: Rebecca Heintz (Patrick), Amy Poynter (Shane), Sarah Royse (Jake), Leslie Cole (Daniel), Linday Johnston (David), Rodney Aaron Hall, and Andrea Wise (Calvin); her great grandchildren: Jacob Cole, Jackson Cole, Maddie Johnston, Mollie Johnston, Lucas (and fiance Courtney Carroll), Perry Wise, Kieran Heintz, Caillian Heintz, Sean Heintz, Eli Poynter, Grace Poynter, Oakley Royse, Edwin Royse; and a great, great grandchild expected in November.

    Roger Dale Richardson, 81, of Madison County, Kentucky, widower of Doris Ann Black Richardson, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Baptist Health Care Hospital in Richmond.
    He was born in Estill County September 16, 1936, to the late Henry Wilson Richardson and Stella Mae Richardson. He was a member of the Flatwoods Christian Church.
    Mr. Richardson is survived by one son, Michael Richardson (Cindy) of Indiana; two daughters: Shelia Campbell and Lisa Clevenger (Jon) of Richmond; a brother, Donald Richardson of Miamisburg, Ohio; six grandchildren, Bethani Kirby (Bill), Hayley Isaacs, Kayla Clevenger, Nick Christy, David Douglas and Katherine McNeal; and five great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers: Morris and Harold Richardson; and four sisters: Louverta Brandenburg, Viva Taylor, Alene Portwood and Laoma Thomas.
    Funeral services were Wednesday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Winchester, with Tim Jones presiding.     Jesse T. “Tolbie” Hall, age 94, of Cedar Cliff Road in Waco, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
    He was born October 3, 1922, in Estill County, a son of the late Johnathan and Sarah Yeary Hall. He was a shipping clerk with the Duriron Company and a United States Army veteran where he served during World War II. He had lived in Estill County most of his life and was a member of the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.
    Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Crawford Hall; and his second wife, Ida Hall.
    He is survived by one daughter, Wavalene McKinney (Charles), Madison County; four sons: Jesse F. Hall, Indiana; Ronnie Hall, Madison County; Steve Hall (Melanie), Bath County; and Kevin Hall (Jamie), Madison County; ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
    Mr. Hall was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; one grandson; and a great grandchild.

James "Jim" S. Morris

    James "Jim" S. Morris, age 76, husband of Mary Margaret Morris, of Irvine, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 28, 2017.
    A native of Estill County, he was born April 20, 1941, a son of the late Robert Clay and Carrie Gabbard Morris. A former brick mason and jailer for Estill County, Mr. Morris loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed horses, people and talking.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeaneen "Sis" Tipton; his brother, Bobby Morris; and his sister, Ona B. Rawlins.
    Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Estes Morris; his sons, Bo Morris (Madeline), Fudd Morris (Sharon), and Paul Morris (Lorrie); a daughter, Bobbie Bowman (Robert); a brother, Beverly Morris (Linda); four sisters: Virginia Harrison, Shirley Wittington, Pearl Tyree (Mike) and Mary McMaine (Chris); five grandchildren: Steven Isaacs Jr, Shannon Estes (Briton), Mary Beth Morris, Kayla Morris, and Michael Crowe (Megan); and four great grandchildren: Averly Estes, Karlee Crowe, Reuben Crowe and Mikey Crowe.

Christine Dunaway Starnes

    Christine Dunaway Starnes, age 87, Newport, Kentucky, gained her Heavenly wings on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
    She was born to the late Clarence and Mabel Dunaway on December 24, 1929, in Irvine, Kentucky. Christine was married to the love of her life for 40 years, the late Harvey Starnes. They were married on January 25, 1946. Christine, best known as “Granny”, touched the lives of many and will be forever missed.
    Christine was preceded in death by her son, Bill (Kathy) Starnes, her brothers, Claude Dunaway, Charles Dunaway & Paul Douglas Dunaway.
    She is survived by her children: Harry Starnes (Joni) of Sidney, Ohio; Wayne Starnes (Florence) of Florence, Donald Scott Starnes (Julia) of Union, and Kimberly Gearns (Craig) of Newport; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
    Christine is also survived by a sister-in-law, Wanda Dunaway; a half-brother, Linville Dunaway, and many extended family members and friends.
    Visitation took place on Monday, October 2, at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp - Erschell Funeral Home, 241 Fairfield Avenue, Bellevue, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services followed visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

    Edna Mae Hall, age 90, of Locomotive Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    She was born September 12, 1927 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Nannie Cole King. She was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Hall.
    She is survived by three sisters: Nina Riley, Madison County; Ann Collett, Estill County; and Bobbie Schaaf, South Carolina; and one brother, Tony Covey, Estill County.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Bessie Whitt and Mary Elizabeth King; and four brothers: Mitchell, Harold, Jimmy and Charles Ray King.

Grover Steven Barnett, Sr., 66

    Grover Steven Barnett Sr. of Clay City, Kentucky departed this life Monday, September 25, 2017 at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 1 day.
    He was a son of the late Earl and Sarah Olinger Barnett born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 24, 1951. He was a Rockwell International employee.
    Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, Betty Stamper Barnett of Campton; one son, Grover Steven Barnett Jr. of Clay City; one daughter, Stacy Reynolds of Berea; one step-daughter, Charity Ison of Campton; nine grandchildren; two brothers: Dewight Barnett and Jimmy Barnett, both of Clay City; and one sister, Anita Easter of Irvine.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Sarah Olinger Barnett. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
    A family gathering was held on Saturday, September 30, 6:00 p.m. at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, 769 East Main Street, Campton; followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Sandra Carol Thacker Pasley

    Sandra Carol Thacker Pasley, age 51, of Main Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Baptist Health Lexington Hospital, following a short illness.
    She was born September 9, 1966, in Estill County, the daughter of Glen Thacker and Wanda Abney Tuttle. She was an employee of Kentucky Logistics and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Robert Thacker, Estill County; and two half-sisters: Sue Ann Morgan, Nicholas County; and Glenda Bartels, Harrison County.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 29, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes with burial following in the McQuinn Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, September 28th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Michael Rogers, Michael Hardy, Bryan Horvat, Daniel Bartels, Caleb Morgan and Calvin Bartels.

Catherine Devonia Rose Parsons, 65

    Catherine Devonia Rose Parsons, 65, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017.
    She was a daughter of the late Edmund and Jewell Rose.
    Mrs. Parsons was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Parsons; and two sisters, Teresa Rose Seivers and Diana Stamper.
    Survivors include her son, Bryan Parsons, Danville; two daughters, Stacy Hall (Bryan) of Danville and Danisha Parsons (Jamie Neal) of Virginia; two sisters, Patsy Barber (Jimmy) of Lexington and Rebecca Baugh of Nicholasvillle;and four grandchildren, Logan Hall (girlfriend Leah Thomas), Kaitlyn Hall (boyfriend Adam Robinson), Shaelyn Parsons of Irvine, and Andrew Chaney of Danville.
    Service arrangements are pending at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals.
