Hazel Nadine Belcher, 77

    Hazel Nadine Belcher, age 77, a long-time resident of Estill County, Kentucky, formerly of Pike County, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital, Lexington, after a sudden illness.
    She was born July 10, 1940 in Elkhorn City and was the daughter of the late Irvin and Opal Ramey Cool. She had worked as a school teacher, child care worker, and homemaker and was a member of the South Irvine Church of Christ.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Cool; and ex-husband, Jarrell Dean Belcher.
    She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Anthony Irvin “Tony” Belcher (Linda), Jarrell Anthony Belcher, both of Irvine; Sheila Jo Little (Jerry), Pikeville; and Jerri Marie Camfield (David), Irvine; eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving her are three sisters and three brothers: Marie Anderson, Elkhorn City; Teresa Cool, Kathy Gibson (Chris), both of Kingsport, Tennessee; Kent Cool (Connie), Pikeville; Randy Cool (Barbara), Danville; and Cleve Cool (Pluma), Wisconsin.
    A celebration of life service was conducted Tuesday, November 14th, at 2:00 p.m., at the South Irvine Church of Christ with family and friends in attendance.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis; or Potter Children’s Home, Bowling Green; in memoriam.

Arnold Hurley, 62

    Arnold Hurley, 62, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Marcum Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
    He was a native of Estill County, born August 19, 1955, a son of the late James and Sue Marcum Hurley. He was a farmer and a member of the Holiness faith.
    Mr. Hurley was preceded in death by his brothers: Norman Gene Hurley and Archie Hurley; and his sisters: Lucille Hurley and America Elizabeth Hurley.
    Survivors include his sister, Mayfra Hurley; his brother, Chester Hurley; his sisters in law: Wilma Sue Hurley and Patsy Ann Hurley; his nephew, Glendon Darrell Hurley (Lynn); his nieces: Lisa Barnes (Wayne Burton), Rhonda Hurley, Elizabeth Aryes, Patricia Hurley, and Mary Hurley; his great nephews: Hunter King and Glendon Darrell Hurley Jr.; and his great nieces: Kylie Kind, Darla Hurley, Savanah Barnes and Maylie King.
    Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, at Wagersville Community Church. Burial will follow in the Marcum Cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals.

Nina Louise Estes Cassidy

    Nina Louise Estes Cassidy, age 56, of Cedar Grove Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Baptist Health Lexington Hospital, following a short illness.
    She was Born February 12, 1961, in Hamilton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ida Johnson Estes. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Cassidy is survived by her husband, Randy Franklin Cassidy; one daughter, Misty Denise Cassidy, Estill County; two sisters: Brenda Estes, Pennsylvania; and Earlene Hicks, Madison County; one brother, Earl Estes, Estill County; two grandchildren: Colburn Trace Babb and Kassidie Annessa Babb; several sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Shelia Sturgill
    She was preceded in death by two sisters: Norma Johnson and Teresa Estes; and four brothers: Bill, Tom, Fred, and Clarence Estes Jr.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Mark McLean with burial following in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, until service time, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Billy Coffey, Cole Babb, Steve Officer, Barry Arthur, Josh Riddell and Mike Johnson.

Troy Gene Goins, 63

    Troy Gene Goins, 66, of Berea, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Baptist Health Richmond.
    Born September 16, 1951, he was the son of Garnet William and Dora Ratliff Goins, both of whom preceded him in death. Troy was a retired route salesman for Uncle Charlie’s Meats.
    Survivors include his wife, Beverly Faye Cook of Berea; one daughter, Rebecca Goins of Lexington; one son, Kevin Goins (Miranda) of Lakeland, Florida; one step-daughter, Lori Lawson (Scott) of Berea; two sisters, Nancy Burrus of Richmond and Janie Hale of Irvine; two brothers, Dean Goins (Gail) and William Goins, both of Richmond; four grandchildren, Brent Goins, Blake Thorn, Keri Thorn, and Kayden Lawson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Goins and Katherine Cole.
    A Celebration of Life Gathering was held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond.

Bonnie Jean Russell

    Bonnie Jean Russell, age 85, widow of Stanley Russell, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Irvine Health and Rehab in Irvine, Kentucky.
    She was born on February 15, 1932 in Clark County to the late Arthur and Anna Smith Keller. She was a retired caregiver and a member of the Church of God.
    Mrs. Russell is survived by one son, Stanley Russell Jr. (Stephanie) of Carlisle; four sisters: Janet Snowden, Juanita Richards, both of Winchester; Linda Sparks (Charlie) and Marie Jacobs, both of Irvine; two brothers: Harold Keller (Mary) and Gerald Keller (Brenda), both of Winchester; one grandson, Raylon Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester. Burial followed in the Winchester Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, November 11th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

    Helen B. Stone McDonald, age 92, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday,November 8,2017 at Hospice of Dayton.
    She was a native of Estill County, born May 6, 1925, at Iron Mound.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin B. "Red" McDonald; parents, Frank and Noomie Allen Stone; and brothers, Lloyd Jackson Stone (Bonnie) and Wayne Stone (Mildred).
    Mrs. McDonald is survived by her son, Jeff MacDonald; two brothers: Jim Stone (Harriet) of Lexington; and Bonnie Stone of Louisville; three nieces: Judy Marwil (Dr. David Marwil), Shelia Clark, and Debra Hopper (Mike); seven nephews: Donnie Vaughn (Sandy) and Robert Vaughn (Sharon): Earl, Mark, Michael(Fran), Matthew (Sarah), and David Stone (Martha); and three great nephews: Joseph, Issak and Jacob Marwil.
    Helen retired from Dayton Bag & Burlap after 17 years. She was a longtime member of East Dayton Christian Church.
    Ohio visitation was on Monday, November 13, 6-7 p.m., East Dayton Christian Church, 3415 Linden Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the church Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
    Estill County friends visited at Warren Toler Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 15th from 12-1 p.m., with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial was in the Sally Poer Cemetery.

Nathan McIntosh, 63

    Nathan McIntosh, 63, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
    He was a native of Estill County, born April 22, 1954, a son of the late Roy and Helen Rice McIntosh. He was a retired construction worker.
    Survivors include his children: Anthony McIntosh, Crystal McIntosh (Larry Norton Jr.), and Chasity McKinney (Mark); his brothers Roy McIntosh (Sue), Danny McIntosh (Wanda), Bo McIntosh (Marie); his sisters: Sandra McKinney (Billy) and Joyce Ann Rawlins; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his aunt, Mary Salamone; and his former wife, Linda McIntosh.
    Graveside services were held Friday, 11:30 a.m., at Oakdale Cemetery.

Dorothy Wise Tipton, 90

    Dorothy Wise Tipton, age 90, widow of Virgil "Cat" Tipton, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at her home.
    She was a native of Estill County, born February 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Claude and Viola Walters Wise. Mrs. Tipton was a retired employee of Carhartt Inc., working there for 44 years.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, Buster Wise.
    Survivors include her son, David Tipton; and her brothers: Reece "Rabbit" Wise, Dawse Wise, and Wayne Wise.
    Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Mark Pearson officiating. Burial followed in Crowe Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 12:00 Noon, Friday, until service time at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Mike Tipton, Larry Tipton, Jessie Wise, Terry Puckett, and Johnny Moreland.

    C. Merill Adams, age 77, of Hudson Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    He was born October 14, 1940, in Estill County, a son of the late Leonard Rodney and Bessie Tipton Adams. He was an appliance repairman with Jimmy Webb Appliances and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Adams was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church.
    He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda C. Ross Adams; two sons: Steve Adams (Selisa) and Jimmy Adams, both of Estill County; a sister, Innas Watson (Elzy), Estill County; three brothers: Shirley Adams (Doris), Gary Adams (Sondra), and Tracy Adams (Judy), all of Estill County; four grandchildren: BreAnda Browning (Kelby), Travis Adams, Taylor Young, and Jimmy Adams II, a great grandchild, Rhett Browning; a sister-in-law, Vicki Adams, Estill County; and several nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Adams was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Renae Adams; and a brother, Ed Adams.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 6, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Mark Pearson and Bro. Scott Rogers with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, November 5th at the funeral home.

Fred Babb, 83

    Fred Babb, age 83 of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
    Born May 20, 1934 in Irvine on Red Lick to Lewis and Minnie Babb, he lived on White Oak for most of his life. Fred was passionate about horses and enjoyed them immensely and was involved with them his whole life. He was self-employed as a heavy machinery operator, electrician, and farmer. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, dogs, pocket knife collecting and was an avid outdoorsman. Fred was also bestowed the honor of being commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1982.
    He was loving and proud of his two sons, Gary (now deceased) and Larry David. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elaine Rawlins Babb; along with his daughter-in- law, Patty; and his granddaughter; Hailee.
    Fred's brothers, Albert and Lewis Jr., along with his sister, Eva, preceded him in death.
    Funeral services were held Friday, November 10, at 1:00 p.m. at the White Oak Church of God with services officiated by Brother Glyndon Woosley and burial following at the West Irvine Cemetery. The family received friends on Thursday, November 9th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home, 99 W Cedar Grove Road, Irvine, and after 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the church.

Benny Ray Cox, 85

    Benny Ray Cox, age 85, of Dug Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
    He was born October 6, 1932 in Estill County and was the son of the late Gentry and Adenna Edwards Cox. He was farmer and a retired carpet installer who enjoyed going to the Wig Wam. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Thomas Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Cox is survived by two sons: Roger Wilson Cox, Madison County; and Rex Allen Cox, Fayette County; two sisters: Thelda Brown and Eudell Barnett, both of Estill County; one grandchild, one great grandchild, and two special nephews: Kenneth and David Brinegar.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 9, 11:00 a.m. at the Thomas Baptist Church by Bro. Ricky Kirby and Bro. Tommy Edwards. Burial was at the Boian Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 8th at the church.
    Pallbearers were Kenneth Brinegar, David Brinegar, Chris Brinegar, Fred Brown, Earl Kirby and Randall Thomas.
    Honorary pallbearers were men of the Thomas Baptist Church.

    Tina Stamper, age 56, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at her home.
    She was born July 6, 1961 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late James Tate and late Roxie Ann Combs Burge.
    Survivors include, a son, Randall Stamper (Erica); a daughter, Kara Hernandez (Antonio); four sisters: Diane Bellamy, Kim Townsend, Chrystal Ezell, and Sally Peavler; and four grandchildren: Randall Owen Stamper, Alex Stamper, Dylan Hernandez, and Vanessa Hernandez.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Randall Stamper; and a brother, Richard Tate.
    Services were held Tuesday, November 7, 2:00 p.m., Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton by Bro. Ross Conley and Bro. Mike Creech. Burial was in Kennon Cemetery with Randall Stamper, Antonio Hernandez, Jason Ezell, Joey Hensley, John Nunez, and Bradley Townsend serving as pallbearers.

Robert Dean White, 80

    Robert Dean White, age 80, of Clays Ferry Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.
    He was born March 23, 1937, in Estill County, a son of the late Cecil and Effie Rose White. He was retired from the Trane Company where he was a welder and had lived in Madison County since 1977. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Lexington and was a veteran of the United States Army.
    Mr. White is survived by his wife, Juanita Alcorn White.
    He is preceded in death by one sister, Jean Motts; and two brothers: Glendon Ray White and Tommy White.
    Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 8, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ron Harp with burial following in the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 10:00 a.m., until service time, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Kenneth Gay Mastin, 86

    Kenneth Gay Mastin, age 86, Lock 11 Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
    A native of Clark County, he was born on April 29, 1931, to the late John and Bessie Richardson Mastin. He was a retired electrician from VA Medical Center and an active member of Bethel Christian Church in Irvine. Mr. Mastin was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War served in the Marine Reserves.
    Survivors include three children, Michael Mastin, Ron Mastin (Denisa) and Angela Mastin; two grandchildren, Derek and John David Mastin; one sister, Lee Korn (Hank); one brother, Robert Mastin (Elaine); and two stepchildren, Teresa Vanwinkle and Tim Holt (Monica).
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Sparks Mastin.
    Visitation was from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 5, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester. Services were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, at the funeral home by Pastor Bill Curtis. Burial was in Winchester Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Todd Sadler, Sam Richardson, Jay Crossman, Wes Robertson, Robert Arnold, Gary Freeman and Drew Robertson.

    Jeana L. Barnes Weir, age 48, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    She was a housewife and a member of the Church of God.
    Mrs. Weir is survived by her mother, Betty Mayse of Irvine; a daughter, Natasha Ormes of Richmond; a granddaughter, Honey Ray Abhrams; two sisters: Georgia McBratney (Robert) and Tammy Brandenburg (Gary), both of Irvine; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Barnes; and her husband, Robert Weir.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City, with Bro. David Alexander officiating. Friends visited Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial was in the Abner Cemetery on Old Fox Road in Irvine.

    Lenvil George Canter, age 86, of East Grundy Avenue in Springfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, following a long illness.
    He was born February 25, 1931 in Estill County and was the son of the late Samuel and Esther Hughes Canter. He was a retired Proctor and Gamble employee and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Canter was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Jamison Canter.
    He is survived by his son, Rick Canter (Jean) Fort Wayne, Indiana; one brother, Samuel Canter Jr. (Lavenda), Estill County; two grandchildren: Glen & Paul Veltum; and five great grandchildren: Corbin Veltum, Makaela Veltum, Sarah Whitney, Rachel Whitney and Luke Veltum.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Canter.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 7, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, November 6th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the church. Pallbearers: Paul Veltum, Makaela Veltum, Ray Ramsey, Eddie Ramsey, Vickie Dunaway and Lasonia Smith.
