Virgil Ben Barnett, 88

Virgil Ben Barnett, 88, Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester.
He was born June 23, 1929 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Perry Oliver and Betty Abney Barnett. Ben was owner of EZ Stop Market and the Clay City IGA. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include, son, Delmer (Janet) Barnett, Irvine; a daughter, Diann Meadows, Clay City; grandchildren: Jeff Barnett, Scott Meadows (Angie), Cory Meadows (Whitney), Brooke Young (Randall), Britni Farris (Seth), and Krana Puckett; great grandchildren: Luke Barnett, Olivia and Landon Meadows; Samuel and Jack Harrison Meadows; Spencer, Sawyer, and Sullynger Young; and Dalton and Teagen Farris.
Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Oliver and Betty Abney Barnett; his wife, Easter Adelene Abney Barnett; a daughter, Patsy Darlene Barnett; a grandson, Duane Allan Barnett; and brothers and sisters: Flora Abney, Hazel Howell, Cassie Barnett, Grover Barnett, Earl Barnett, Kenzie Barnett, Irene Minker, and Molly Barnett.
Funeral services, Monday, December 11, 2:00 p.m., at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Rev. Dwaine Meadows and Rev. Stephen Donithan. Visitation Sunday 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial in the Barnett Cemetery with Jeff Barnett, Scott Meadows, Cory Meadows, Randall Young, Seth Farris, Luke Barnett, Gary Meadows, and Jeremy Davis serving as pallbearers.

Richard Lowell Reeves, 72
Richard Lowell Reeves, age 72, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017, at his home following a long illness.
He was born January 4, 1945 in Hazard and was the son of the late James Carlos and Lella Price Reeves. He was the former Assistant Pastor for the late Bro. Beverly Arvin at the Wagersville Community Pentecostal Church of God. His lifelong desire was to go home to be with the Lord and to see his mother and father and loved ones that have gone before. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Reeves is survived by one sister, Faye Spicer, Cartersville, Georgia; one brother, Freddie Reeves (Edna), Estill County; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 10, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial wase at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, December 9th at the funeral home.
Amber Nicole Hail, 38

Amber Nicole Hail, age 38, of Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born April 19, 1979 in Pulaski County and was the daughter of Edwin Charles Hail and the late Vickie Lynn Tipton. She was an employee of Wendy’s Restaurant and attended the Body of Christ. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her grandparents, Rose & Tommy Reeves, Estill County; and Lerleen Hail, Somerset; her daughter, Jaycee Lynn Hail; a half-brother, Jerod Burkett (Katie), Lexington; a special cousin, Bailey Durham; and special aunts: Tonya Adams and Kelli Schoolar.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 9, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jessica Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Steven Walters, Mike Horn, James Horn and Jared Burkett.
John David Lunsford, 56

John David Lunsford, age 56, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
Born February 15, 1961, in Houston, Texas, he was the son of John Gilbert and Opal Mae Sawyer Lunsford, both of whom preceded him in death. John was self-employed before becoming disabled and was a United States Army veteran who served during the Grenada era.
He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and was the newly elected President of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club of Irvine.
Mr. Lunsford is survived by his wife, Connie Linton Lunsford of Irvine; three sons: Michael Andreas Lunsford of Germany, John Thomas Lunsford of Irvine, and Harley Gilbert Lunsford (Peggy) of Berea; one sister, Cari L. Duff of Richmond; five grandchildren and a special friend, Bubba.
Memorial service for John was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond.

Jackie Stephen Plowman, 61
Jackie Stephen Plowman, age 61, of Summit Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at his home, following a long illness.
He was born December 7, 1955, in Middletown, Ohio, a son of the late Boyd Plowman and Edith Young Plowman Martin. He was a construction worker and had lived in Estill County for the past 20 years. He attended the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Plowman is survived by his wife, Betty F. Bowles Plowman; two sons: Steven Jack Plowman (Christy) and Bryan Allen Plowman, both of Florida; two sisters: Sandy Snowden McIntosh, Richmond; and Lisa Plowman, Irvine; three brothers: Leonard Snowden, Ohio; Ray Snowden and Tracy Snowden, both of Irvine; and three grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Mary Jo Plowman Combs and Jerry Snowden.
Memorial services were conducted Friday, December 8, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Atwood Winkle. Friends called after 12 Noon, Friday, until service time, at the funeral home.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tipton Cemetery by Bro. Glendon Woosley, for Jeweldena Tipton Smyth Carroll, age 88, retired hairdresser and avid crafter who passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017.
She was born September 6, 1929 to the late Ethel Arthur Tipton & Hubert Lee Tipton.
Mrs. Carroll is survived by three sons: Jessie Edwin "Eddie" Smyth, Linville Smyth, and Gary Lee Smyth (Mary); one daughter, Melanie Smyth; eight grandchildren: Melinda "Mindy" Smyth Riddell, Justin Smyth, Bryan Smyth, Phillip Smyth, Christina "Chrissie" Smyth, Kera Smyth, Rebecca "Becca" Smyth, and Stephen Smyth; five great grandchildren; and two sisters: Wavilene Tipton Powell of Ohio, and Wanda Tipton of Ravenna.
Private services were scheduled.

David Wayne Harris, 36
|
David Wayne Harris, age 36, of Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, at Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital in Irvine.
He was born December 8, 1980, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Michael and Renetta Harris. He had worked in construction and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Mr. Harris is survived by his father, Michael Harris of Cynthiana; a brother, Ryan Scott Harris; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Penny Harris; his grandparents, Earline and Mark Crouch, and his great grandparents, Ancil and Beulah Tipton Profitt.
A memorial service was held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church 322 5th Street in Ravenna, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8th. The family chose cremation.
Eugenia "Jean" Margison Dennis, 98
Eugenia "Jean" Margison Dennis, widow of Harold, went to Heaven on November 30, 2017 at the age of 98.
She was born on June 29, 1919 in Irvine, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Estill County High School and Transylvania College. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Waco Christian Church.
Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucinda Margison; her husband, Harold Dennis; her brothers: Quentin and Calvin Margison; and two grandchildren: Kim Sparks and Kelly Dennis.
She is survived by three children: Larry Dennis (Patsy) of Versailles; Patricia Rush (Patty) of Sellersburg, Indiana; and Mark Dennis (Tina) of Richmond; her caregiver, Mildred Richards; grandchildren: Kevin Dennis, Andy & Joey Smith, and Tyler & Mayce Dennis; a sister, Glenia Meade of Lexington; and a brother-in-law, Earl Dennis (Ruby). She has eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 3, 4-8 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Home (formerly Turpin), 237 North 2nd Street, Richmond. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4th at the funeral home. Burial was at Madison Memorial Gardens, 210 West Rice Lane, Richmond.
Edna Burdine Gordon, 82
Edna Burdine Gordon, 82, widow of Jay Gordon, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was a native of Madison County, born December 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Gene and Nannie Ingram Burdine. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Upper Redlick Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by a son, Gene Allen Gordon; a brother, Clyde Eugene Burdine; and a sister, Roxie Burns.
Survivors include two sons: Larry J. Gordon and Melvin Gordon (Linda); five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Pastor Sidney Sparks officiating. Burial followed in the Lunsford Cemetery. Friends called Sunday, December 3rd after 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donald Ray Woolery, 81
Donald Ray Woolery, age 81, of Meade Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at his home following a long illness.
He was born December 3, 1935 in Estill County and was the son of the late Tracy W. and Fannie Lee Wiseman Woolery. He was retired from the CSX Railroad with 39 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the VFW. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Woolery is survived by his wife, Linda Hawkins Woolery; two sons: Kevin Woolery and Jason B. Woolery, both of Estill County; one granddaughter, Brittany Woolery, Fayette County; and four brothers: Michael Woolery, Madison County; Steve Woolery, Greg Woolery, and Kim Woolery, all of Estill County.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Woolery.
Mr. Woolery had requested cremation and no services are planned as he had desired.
Warren F. Toler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Esther Garcia Martinez Nunnelley, 49
Esther Garcia Martinez Nunnelley, age 49, of Irvine, Kentucky, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was born April 21, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Ramon Torres Martinez and Maria Garcia Hernandez Fowler.
Esther moved to Estill county 30 years ago from San Antonio, and attended New Beginning Fellowship and previously worked as a nursing aide. She enjoyed listening to music; picnics, fishing, camping, cooking, her flower gardens and most of all, spending time with her family. She'll be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Garcia Nilhas (Brian) of Ravenna and Leighandra Kirby (Brittany McKenzie) of Irvine; one granddaughter, Rebecca Nilhas of Ravenna; and one sister, Maricruz Parker (Dallas Harrison) of Irvine.
Graveside services were held Saturday, December 2, at the Mansfield Cemetery, 795 Driftwood Drive, Ravenna, at 4:00 p.m.

Chrystal Lea Wise Ashcraft, age 86, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017.
She was born October 3, 1931 in Ravenna, Kentucky, to her parents, Elva and Mary Wise. Chrystal was number six out of 11 children.
She started her working career at Westinghouse and retired from Champion International Papers in 1993. She was an active member of West Side Church of Christ in Hamilton, Ohio, for over 50 years. After retirement, Chrystal set off to travel the world. Traveling with family and friends brought her great joy.
Chrystal had four children, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and was an aunt to over 40 nieces and nephews. Her children are Faron Ashcraft, Gwen Brill (Mike), Debbie Sullivan, and Tom Ashcraft. Her grandchildren are Christi Childress (Matt), Sarah Ashcraft, Lauren Brill, Lindsay Brill, Brandon Ashcraft, Jessica Gafgen (Brandon), Austin Ashcraft, and Ryan Sullivan. Chrystal’s surviving siblings are Alonzo Wise (Margaret), Thelma Dunaway, Elfreeda Wickizer, Wavlene Dunaway (Damon), Mary Alva Fox (Harry Dale) and Lynda Parks (Montie).
She was preceded in death by her siblings Wilbert Wise, Opal Critchfield, James Wise, and Allene Wise; and her grandson, Nick Ashcraft.
Graveside services were at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Winchester Cemetery.

Justin Glenn Hobbs, age 28, of Ticky Fork Drive in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, at his home.
He was born October 5, 1989 in Mt. Sterling and was the son of Cheryl Hobbs Embs and the late Gary Joe Snowden. He attended the Irvine First Church of God and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two half-sisters: Laura Lynn Snowden Mainous and Miranda Webb, both of Estill County; one half-brother, Joe David Snowden, Estill County; special aunts: Anita Hobbs Marcum and Mildred Moore; and special cousins: Amy Jo Harkins, James Herbert Hobbs, Chris and Terry Camden.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 29, 11 a.m. at the Marcum Cemetery by Donnie Watson.
Pallbearers were Josh Harkins, Joe Harkins, Eddie Snowden, Chris Camden, Camron Cox, Roger Harkins and James Hobbs.
