Kathy L. Turner

    Kathy L. Turner, age 56, of Sandridge Road in Waco, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Baptist Health Richmond following a long illness.
    She was born July 2, 1961 in Estill County and was the daughter of Glendon Hardy and the late Darlene Norton Hardy. She was a former KI employee and was a member of the Victory Tabernacle.
    Survivors in addition to her father include her husband, Arvel Turner Jr., two daughters: Kristie East (Craig), Lexington; and Paige Hall (Kenneth), Stanford; one son, Blake Turner, Waco; two sisters: Jennifer Tipton, Waco, and Robin Turpin (Todd), Richmond; and one brother, Greg Hardy (Sharon), Irvine.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Dixon; and onw brother, Bobby Hardy.
    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 10, 7:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call between 5 and 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Gary Dale Wasson, 63

    Gary Dale Wasson, age 63, of Lunsford Hollow Road in McKee, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born September 20, 1954 in Madison County and was the son of the late Orville Clay and Emma Elizabeth Crowe Wasson. He was a member of the Gum Springs Church of God and attended the House of Prayer. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Wasson is survived by his sister, Eva Lee Baker Jones McKee; and two nephews: Orville Clay Wasson II and Eric Lee Wasson.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Shirley Gene Wasson.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 5, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Rick McGee and Bro. Sidney Sparks. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Lloyd Shuler, Oscar Wasson, Algin Wasson Jr., Daniel Shuler, Jerame Conrad and James Berger.

Elvis Simp Young, 59,

    Elvis Simp Young, age 59, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
    He was born February 8, 1959 in Lee County and was the son of the late Joe Young Jr. and Juanita Newton Young. He was a salesman with Bunt Gross Auto Sales and a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Young is survived by three sons: Joshua Young, Madison County; Seth Young, Clark County; and Ethan Young, Estill County; one sister, Loretta Young, Estill County; and two brothers: Ronnie Young and Charles Young, both of Estill County.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Abney; and two brothers: Wayne and Ricky Young.
    Memorial services were conducted Saturday, May 12, 2:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses by Bro. Gary Meredith.

Floyd Clemmons

    Floyd Clemmons was born February 17, 1953 in Jackson County and departed this life Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 65 years of age. He was the son of the late James F. & Flossie Isaacs Clemmons.
    Floyd is survived by three children, David Clemmons (Maggie) of McKee, Laurall Clemmons (Mickey War) of Annville and Amy Lakes of McKee. He is also survived by a brother, Leslie Clemmons of Louisville; and by two sisters, Faye King of Sand Gap and Marge Alexander of Irvine. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Kayla Hoblit, David Clemmons, Dakota Noble, Douglas Clemmons, Jonathan Lakes, Jayden Noble, Destiny Lakes, James Lakes, T.J. Moore III, Thomas Baker and Derek Clemmons.
    In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay Clemmons; by a granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Lakes; by a sister, Dora Clemmons and by three brothers, Paul, Guy and John Clemmons.
    Funeral service was at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Lakes Funeral Home.1181 Main Street South, McKee, with Bro. Jimmy Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Clemmons Family Cemetery.

Edward Eugene "Eddie" Marcum, 44

    Edward Eugene "Eddie" Marcum, 44, of Lincoln Avenue, in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the UK Hospital in Lexington, after a short illness.
    He was born in Estill County on July 23, 1973, the son of Veronica Welch and Edward Earl Marcum.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by an 11-year-old son, Dylan Marcum; his dear friend and brother, David A. Tipton; other brothers, Jeffery Nilhas, Brian Nilhas, and Wayne Marcum; and a special friend Crystal Atkins.
    A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Caldwell Cemetery at Patsy, past Cobbhill. Family and close friends are invited to attend. A procession will begin at 5:30 p.m. on May 12th from the park and ride at the Estill County Fair Barn.

Janet Woosley, 64

    Janet Woosley, age 64, of Laurel Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born September 9, 1953 in Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Maggie Marcum Isaacs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Drip Rock Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Woosley is survived by her husband, Lewis Woosley; one daughter, Virginia Gayle Bishop, Richmond; two sons: Michael Don Bishop, Irvine; and Lewis Alan Cole, Richmond; three sisters: Arzella Crawford, Grethel Becknell and Judy Richardson; two brothers: Darrell Isaacs and Odale Isaacs; and nine grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one daughter, Maggie Katherine Cole; and one sister, Bobbie Ruth Gordon.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 6, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose. Burial was at the Marcum Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Edgar Lee Winkle, 81

    Edgar Lee Winkle, age 81, of Wagersville Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born January 27, 1937 in Estill County and was the son of the late Charlie and Loutisha Cox Winkle. He was a retired employee of Gibson Greeting Cards and a member of the South Irvine Christian Church. He served in the United States Army.
    Mr. Winkle is survived by one sister, Alfie Wilson, New Mexico; two brothers: James A. Winkle, Winchester; and Lowell D. Winkle, New Mexico; and special friends: Betty Miller and Ronald Miller, both of Irvine.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Irene Lowery and Louise Winkler.
    Graveside services were conducted Thursday, May 3, at the Sparks Cemetery by Bro. Glendon Mays.
    Pallbearers were Steve Rose, Glendon Mays, Ronald Miller and James Atwood Winkle.

    Lohris Wayne Johnson, age 78, of Wimauma, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born January 23, 1940, in Estill County, a son of the late Rev. Roy C. and Hazel Dee Hall Johnson. He was a self employed construction worker and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He attended the Friendship Baptist Church in Wimauma.
    Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Morefield Johnson.
    He is survived by four daughters: Karen Johnson, Tabby Johnson, both of Newport; Diane Martin (Johnny), Florida; and Rita Spurlock (Dale), Berea; four sons: Randy Johnson, Mark Johnson, both of Newport; Danny Friend and Harold Friend (Adrian), both of Ravenna; four sisters: Wave Vickers (Don), Alexandria; Sue Orme (Junior), Cold Springs; Libby Watson (Kenny), Ravenna; and Patty Riddell (Gary), Irvine; a brother, Roger Johnson, Irvine; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
    In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by three siblings: Kathy Johnson, Orval Johnson, and Lenville Johnson.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kenny Wasson with burial following in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Friday until service time.
    Pallbearers were Denny Vickers, Doug Watson, Bobby Johnson, Michael Friend, Brandon Mays and Bill Friend.
    Honorary pallbearers were all his nieces and nephews.

    Chelsie E. McMillan, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, daughter of James C. McMillan and Joy Reed McMillan, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
    In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Haylea L. Hall; a brother, James B. McMillan; and a sister, Mary B. Rose (Brandon).
    Services were held on Wednesday, April 18, at Rolan G Taylor Funeral Home in Winchester, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial was in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

    Irene Winkle Lowry, age 92, of Winchester, Kentucky, died Sunday, April 8, 2018.
    She was born February 17, 1926 to Loutisha Cox and Charlie Winkle.
    Mrs. Winkle is survived by daughters: Vonda Vermillion (Albert) and Sonya Reddix (Rick); and grandchildren: Ethan Vermillion, Van Vermillion, Colin Reddix, Madisen Reddix, and Trenton Reddix, all of Winchester. Other survivors include sister, Alpha Wilson of Roswell, New Mexico; brothers: Edgar Winkle of Irvine, Atwood Winkle of Winchester, and Lowell Winkle of Roswell, New Mexico.
    In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by husband, Vernon Lowry; a sister, Louise Winkler; and a brother, Ronald Winkle.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Rolan G Taylor Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial was at Clarmont Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers were Colin Reddix, Ethan Vermillion, Trenton Reddix, Van Vermillion, Jeff Trennepohl and Phillip Heil.

    June Lee Spencer, age 55, of East Broadway, Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her residence following a long illness.
    Born in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Dunn and the late Denvie Taulbee Dunn. June was a former parts assembly operator with Quality Manufacturing, a former cook with the Corner Drug Store in Winchester, and Tipton's Market.
    She is survived by her husband, Stanley Spencer; two daughters: Kelly Marie Centers (Chris) of Winchester, and Shelly Lee Leigh (Derrick) of Harrodsburg; three brothers: Randall Dunn (Ella) of Irvine, Kenneth Dunn of Clay City, and Rondle Dunn of Winchester; one sister, Judy Stokley (Matthew) of Clay City; and six grandchildren: Savannah Lynn Centers, Hunter Mark Lee Spencer, Stanley Centers, Jessica Centers, Jackson Leigh, and Jacqueline Leigh.
    Funeral services officiated by Brother Brad Epperson were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation began at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 30th at the funeral home. Interment was in West Bend Cemetery with Christopher Centers, Derrick Leigh, Arnold Mullins, Zachary Hale, Hunter Spencer and Stanley Centers serving as Active Pallbearers.

    Nannie L. Henderson McGuire, widow of Carl McGuire, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
    She was an 89-year-old native of Estill County, born January 19, 1929, daughter of the late Leonard and Rhoda Rose Henderson, a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
    Mrs. McGuire is survived by two sons: Lenny McGuire (Kathy) and Carl McGuire Jr. (Wanda), and a daughter, Diana Reffitt, all of Jeffersonville; seven grandchildren, Carla M. Watkins, Heather J. Evans, Dave, Mike, Cameron, Caleb and Christina McGuire; four great grandchildren; a brother, Arville Henderson; and a sister, Wathena Cartmill.
    She was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Edwin and Elbert Henderson; three sisters: Pearl Woods, Marvella Reffitt, and Annie Hall; a grandson, Kenneth McGuire; and a son-in-law, Tom Reffitt.
    Her funeral was at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals of Mt. Sterling with burial in Hammock Cemetery. Visitation was 5-8 p.m., Monday, April 30th at the funeral home.

    Sammie Lawson King, age 74, of Barnes Mountain Road, in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
    He was born October 13, 1943, in Estill County, a son of the late Willie and Emily Jane Reece King. He was the owner of Sammie's Furniture and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He attended the Church of the Nazarene.
    Mr. King is survived by his wife, Elsie Williams King; two sons: Sammie Glen King (Chastity), Estill County; and Ricky Allen Isaacs (Shirley), Lee County; a sister, Loretta Hobbs (Bob), Ohio; a brother, Paul King, Estill County; four grandchildren: Lynn Griffin, Ricky Isaacs Jr., Brittney King, and Aiden King; and two great grandchildren: Hannah Isaacs and Mackensley Griffin.
    He was preceded in death by five siblings: Juanita Morris, Troy King, Miles King, Snowden King, and Lloyd King.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 29, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Randy Bowles and Bro. Ricky Isaacs with burial following in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, April 28th at the funeral home.

    Travis Edward Tipton, age 24, of Pryse Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at his home.
    He was born February 17, 1994, in Sumpter County, South Carolina, a son of Edward Daniel Sr. and Linda Workman Tipton. He had lived in Estill County most of his life and was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Sara Danielle Tipton, Estill County; two brothers: Edward Daniel Tipton Jr. and Benjamin Walker Tipton, both of Estill County

Daniel Lewis "D.L." Todd, 75

    Daniel Lewis "D.L." Todd, age 75, husband of Phyllis Watson Todd, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
    He was Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from Rockwell International. He was also a Mason at the Stafford Lodge #562 F&AM.
    Mr. Todd was the son of his late father, Elmer Thaddeus Todd, and Lillian Todd; with one sister, Meredith Todd Dunaway.
    He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Watson Todd; one son, Daniel Lewis Todd Jr.; a daughter, Emma Janet Richardson (Darrell); a stepdaughter, Amy Carol Preston (Kevin); three grandchildren: Kaitlyn Danielle Mesewicz, Gabrielle Amber Sarbaugh, and Clay Evan Cocanougher (Crystal); a great grandson, Carson David Cremeens; a brother, Darrell Lee Todd (Pam) and a sister, Melba Jean Bush.
    Mr. Todd chose cremation and no service, as he wished.

Judy Carol Royse

    Judy Carol Royse, age 67, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Baptist Health Hospital, located in La Grange, Kentucky.
    Judy was born January 10, 1951 in Beattyville, a daughter to the late Roscoe and Bonnie Warner Baker. She was a homemaker, and attended the Allensville Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church both located in Winchester. She loved her family and living for the Lord. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, crafting, dolls, and attending church.
    Ms. Royse is survived by two sons: Joseph Royse (Heather) and Brian Christopher Royse, both of Stanton; one daughter, Pamela Royse (Phillip Whitt II) of Winchester; two brothers: Edward Baker of Nicholasville, and David Baker of Irvine; two grandchildren: Houston Kyle Land and Hannah Nicole Whitt, both of Winchester; and many other loving family members and friends.
    Along with her parents, Roscoe and Bonnie Baker, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Sara Gentry and Betty Smallwood; and one brother, Roscoe Pete Baker Jr.
    Visitation was held Saturday, April 21, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m., at the Booneville Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Morgan officiating. She was laid to rest in the Beatty Place Cemetery, located in Beattyville.
    Pallbearers were Steve Gentry, Keith Smallwood, Jimmy Gentry and Noah Smallwood.
    Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Reece, Fred Smallwood, and Phillip Whitt.
