Juelma Jane Marlowe Blackwell, 87

Juelma Jane Marlowe Blackwell, 87, of Irvine, Kentucky, loving wife of Emanuel Blackwell Jr., passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was a native of Estill County, born September 23, 1930, a daughter of the late Jasper N. and Rose Anderson Marlowe. Juelma was a graduate of Saint Joseph School of Nursing and spent her career as an RN. She was a lifetime member of the Irvine United Methodist Church and the Marcum Wallace Hospital Auxiliary
Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her brothers: James Lewis Marlowe and Eugene Woodson Marlowe.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Emanuel; her three children: Rosemary Blackwell Barnes (Roger), Rebecca Blackwell Carr (Jim), and Jim Blackwell (Kim); nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.. on Thursday, May 31, at the Irvine United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30th at the church.
Lance Blackwell, Chase Blackwell, Christopher Carr, Jim Carr, Roger Barnes and Clayton Oswald will serve as pallbearers.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Irvine United Methodist Church, 243 Main St. Irvine, KY 40336

Winnie McIntosh Marcum, 82

Winnie McIntosh Marcum, age 82, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her home.
She was born August 21, 1935 in Irvine, to the late Gilbert and Alice Tipton McIntosh. She was a long-time business owner having Stanton Florist since May 4, 1974.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory Scott Marcum and Stephan Craig Marcum, both of Stanton; and a brother, Gilbert McIntosh Jr. (Cowboy).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Alice McIntosh; a sister, Joan McIntosh Dennis, and a daughter-in-law, Valerie Marcum.
Private services to be scheduled at a later date.

Vernon Smith, 79
Vernon Smith, age 79, of Old Landing Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at his home following a long illness.
He was born March 16, 1939 in Jackson County and was the son of the late Sylvan and Eva Price Smith. He was a retired GM employee and was a member of the Wagersville Community Pentecostal Church of God. He was also a member and past President of the Beagle Kennel Club.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Gay Crews Smith.
He is survived by three daughters: Anita Barker, Estill County; Teresa Dooley (Mark), Ohio; and Renee Woods (Scott), Florida; two sons: Phillip Smith (Kathy), Estill County; and Aaron Smith (Mary), Ohio; two sisters: Ruby Carpenter and Irene Venable, both of Jackson County; four brothers: Don Smith, Breathitt County; Delmar Smith, Junior Smith, both of Ohio; and Randall Hundley, Jackson County; 22 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Wilma, James and Floyd.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 2, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Dave Crews. Burial will be at the Campbell Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, June 1st at the funeral home.
Madalene Wasson, 82

Madalene Wasson, age 82, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Indiana University Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana, following a short illness.
She was born January 14, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary Caroline Profitt McIntosh. She was a store owner and former employee of Lycoming Shoe Factory. She was a member of the Knowlton Church of God and had lived in Estill County all her life.
Madalene was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Kenneth Wasson.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Wasson, Estill County; two sisters: Vivian Lane and Wilma Wise, both of Estill County; two brothers: Carl McIntosh and Jerry Wayne McIntosh, both of Estill County; two grandchildren: Renee Hurst and Rebecca Wasson; and three great grandchildren: Haleigh Noble, Harlan Noble and Jax Hurst.
Madalene was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Patrick and Freida Johnson; and four brothers: Lyle, Amos, Virgil and Orville McIntosh.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 31, 12:00 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes, Bro. Gainus Rogers and Bro. Jim Hall. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 30th at the funeral home.
Roger "Joe" Freeman, 69

Roger "Joe" Freeman, age 69, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.
Joe was born November 3, 1948 to Paul and Darlene Walters Freeman in Winchester.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Freeman.
Joe was a United States Navy veteran and proudly served his country during theVietnam War and worked for IBM-Lexmark as a computer programmer for 32 years before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Cheri Lewis Freeman; two daughters, Paige Gilkerson (Greg) and Brittany McDaniel (Dave); grandchildren: Allie Stone (Tyler), Bailey Gilkerson; Hunter, Hope and Holly Burus; and his beloved dog, IssyB, and grand-dog, Hazel.
Visitation was held 10-1, Saturday, May 26, at Northeast Christian Church, 990 Star Shoot Parkway in Hamburg. Service began at 1:00 p.m. with a catered meal to follow service.
The family has requested contributions in honor of Joe be made to Markey Cancer Center.

Jonathan David Frazier, 36

Jonathan David Frazier, age 36, of Ticky Fork Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1982 in Madison County and was the son of Richard David and Shirley Marie Walters Frazier. He was a Trane employee and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Survivors, in addition to his father and mother, includeone daughter, Allison Faith Frazier, Estill County; one stepdaughter, Mahailee Catherine Combs, Estill County; one sister, Carla Marie Macaluso, Powell County; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 23, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Mark Pearson. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called from 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Philip Hardy, Ryan Hardy, Jason Derickson, Shaun Hale, Justin Tipton and Ralph Barnes.
Ila Marie Barnett Crain, 66

Ila Marie Barnett Crain,age 66, of the Pecks Ridge Community in Fleming County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday evening, May 17, 2018, in the Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville, after an extended illness.
She was born in Powell County, on November 17, 1951 to the late Wayne Edward Barnett and Ivia Holder Barnett.
Mrs. Crain was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting antiques, glassware and dolls. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flowers, sewing, crocheting and quilting.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Darrell Crain; one son, Mickey Shrout; and three brothers, Larry Barnett, Gene Barnett and Billy Barnett.
Survivors include one son, Mike Shrout of Flemingsburg; two daughters: Amy Goodman of Flemingsburg and Angela Gray (Jeff) of Mt. Sterling; three brothers: Jerry Barnett of Montgomery County, Carl Barnett of Clark County and James Barnett of Powell County; three sisters: Judy Barnett, Marlene Jones, both of Clark County; and Diane Stamper of Irvine; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Roy Stacy officiating. Burial followed in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Fleming County. Visitation was after 12 Noon, Monday, at the funeral home.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Gregory Wayne Horn, 48
Gregory Wayne Horn, age 48, of Scott Court in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born April 18, 1970 in Estill County and was the son of Wanda L. Tipton Horn and the late Earl Horn. He was an employee of Dunaway Trucking and had lived in Estill County all his life.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Brandy Kay Farmer Horn; two daughters, Taylor Renee Horn; and Ashley Nicole “Nikki” Horn; one sister, Marilyn Cornett, Georgetown; two brothers: Randy Glen Horn and Christopher Earl Horn, both of Ravenna; eight nieces and nephews: Virginia L. Horn, Zachary Lemmon, Kaley Treadway, Dakota Morgan, Lydia Morgan, Joshua Thomas, Craig Morgan and Phillip Treadway; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 21, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Nathan Stewart, Zachary Lemmon, Kevin Bryant, John Tipton, Craig Morgan, and Phillip Treadway.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Morgan, Joshua Thomas, and Chris “Tweety” Smyth.
Bradford “Shorty” Doyle, 74

Bradford “Shorty” Doyle, age 74, of Little Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, went to his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, after a long illness.
He was born March 31, 1944 in Jessamine County and was the son of the late Granville Pearl and Lilly Mae Alcorn Doyle. He was a former South East Coal Company employee and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a charter member and Deacon of the Old Time Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Doyle is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Tuggle Doyle; two daughters, Bambi Doyle and Jennifer Noland (Chris), both of Estill County; two sons: Allen Doyle (Tammy) and Scotty Doyle (Ruth), both of Estill County; one brother, Bobby Doyle (Gay), Georgia; seven grandchildren: Jacob Doyle (Chelsey), Kristian Doyle, Dakota Doyle, Rebecca Doyle, Raven Curtis (Michael), Levi Kerby and Brayden Noland; and two great grandchildren: Paisley Doyle and Cass Curtis.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Clay and Leroy Doyl eand two grandchildren: Jessica Doyle and Solomon Doyle.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 12, 2:00 p.m., at the Old Time Baptist Church by Bro. Jerry Chaney. Burial was at the Campbell Cemetery. Friends called from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m., Saturday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bambi Doyle, Jennifer Noland, Allen Doyle, Scotty Doyle, Levi Kerby, and Jacob Doyle.
Honorary pallbearers were Brayden Noland and Dakota Doyle.
