Loraine Robertson, 90
Loraine Robertson, age 90, of South Madison Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
She was born March 22, 1928 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Johnny and Minnie Wiseman McDowell and had lived in Estill County all her life. She was a homemaker and a very active member of the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene where she served as Choir Director for over 50 years.
Mrs. Robertson was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Robertson.
She is survived by two daughters: Saundra Cox, Estill County; and Patti Heltsley (Richard), Hopkins County; one son, Robbie Robertson (Regina), Estill County; four grandchildren: Amy Fowler, Kristin Jones, Kelly Thompson and Matthew Robertson; and six great grandchildren: Lauren Fowler, Megan Fowler, Melia Boddy, Sam Jones, Amelia Jones and Anna Jones.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Audrey Elkins, Mildred Wiseman, and Rose Caudill; and one brother, Harry McDowell.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 5, 1:00 p.m., at the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene by Bro. Kurt Napier and Bro. Matthew Marshall. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, September 4th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church.
John Leslie Bowlin, 77

John Leslie Bowlin, age 77, husband of Viola Byrd Bowlin died Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
He was born one of 13 children, September 24, 1940 in Berea, to the late Hiram and Pearl Bowlin. Mr. Bowlin was retired from Hicks Lumber in Richmond. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed farming, horses and animals of all kinds.
Other than his wife he is survived by his three children; Rick Bowlin (Vickie) of Berea, John Bowlin Jr. (Michelle) of Irvine, and Sandra Martin (Anthony) of Richmond; and four grandchildren, Dallas Austin Bowlin, Gabby Bowlin, both of Irvine, Heather Rae Bowlin of Berea, and Niel Martin of Richmond.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 3, at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home, 616 Chestnut Street in Berea with Pastor Sally Tussey Malloy officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
J. M. Brandenburg, 82

J. M. Brandenburg, 82, Winchester, Kentucky, husband of Betty Lindauer Brandenburg, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on December 7, 1935 in Scott Co. to the late Colonel Taylor and Nancy Anna Gray Brandenburg. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years and later became a lifelong farmer. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Brandenburg is survived by his wife; three kids, Jimmy “James T.” Brandenburg (Shelby), Sharon West, and Tina Marie; two stepsons, Matt Milburn (Sacha) and Timothy Milburn (Kristy); nine grandchildren, Lisa Brandenburg Reichback, Jason Brandenburg, James Dale Carmack, Joshua Carmack, Ashley Marie, Alexis Milburn, Carter Milburn, Noah Milburn, and Nathan Milburn; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Herman and Donnie; two sisters, Gloria and Judy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Wayne Ann Hager, and six siblings, Colman, Eva, Edwin, Anna Lee, Lorraine, and Leonard.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5 at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester. Burial will follow at the Midway Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, at the funeral home.

Joseph Colby Horn, 45, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, after arrival at Baptist Health – Richmond.
He was born July 23, 1973, in Richmond, Kentucky to Leo and Grace (King) Horn of Richmond. Joe was a licensed plumber, an avid fisherman and hunter, and he attended the Richmond House of Prayer.
In addition to his parents, Leo and Grace, he is survived by one brother, Ron Horn (Angela) of Richmond; one sister, Teresa Dawes (Teddy) of Irvine; his former spouse, Julie Plyman; nephews and nieces, John Dawes, Jodi Dawes, Melanie Horn, Ryan Horn, and Dylan Horn; as well as numerous cousins.
Funeral service for Joe will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. Owen Moody and Bro. Chris Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Dawes, Ryan Horn, Dylan Horn, Tim Grant, Johnny G. King, Jr., and Dale King, Jr.
Honorary bearers will be Conrad King, Randy Caldwell, Allen Grant Jr., Virgil Grant, Tyler King, Evan King, Aaron King, Neal Howard, and Chris King.

Mrs. Isabelle Cox Roberts, 87, of Waco, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at her home.
Mrs. Roberts, the daughter of the late Rubin Cox and Ila Mae Durbin Cox, was born in Estill County on June 5, 1931. She worked for Cowdens as a seamstress. She enjoyed singing and being with her family.
Survivors include her brother, Johnny Cox (Lois); six sisters: Alverta White, Jewell Jones (Lewis), Brenda Cadman (Dick), Linda Bloss (Ronnie Colbenson), Etta Carpenter and Stella Crowe; nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Ona Lee Meeks.
Mrs. Roberts was also preceded in death by her brothers: Paul Cox, James Cox and Perry Cox; and her sister, Mable Lewis.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 3, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 Main Street, Richmond, with Rev. Owen Moody officiating. Burial was private. Visitation was after 12:00 Noon, Monday, at the funeral home.

Larry Dale Lainhart, 66
Larry Dale Lainhart, age 66, of Walnut Grove Circle in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born July 28, 1952 in Estill County and was the son of the late Roscoe and Mary Katherine Winkler Lainhart. He was a retired conductor with the L&N Railroad and a member of the Wisemantown United Methodist Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Lainhart is survived by his son, Michael G. Lainhart (Lacey), Irvine; one sister, Betty Gail Davis (Jim), Richmond; one brother, Randall Lainhart; Irvine; and three grandchildren: Maci Leann, Riley Katherine and Chloe Faith Lainhart.
There will be a celebration of life service held Saturday, September 8, 2:00 p.m., at the Wisemantown United Methodist Church, 1358 Wisemantown Road, Irvine, and all his friends are welcome. There will be private graveside services at the West Irvine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Wisemantown Methodist Church.

Eunice M. Lainhart, age 65, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Baptist Health – Lexington.
Born December 30, 1952, in Estill County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Samuel Edward and Sarah Ann (Brandenburg) Tipton, both of whom preceded her in death. Eunice was a retired teacher’s aide with the Madison County School System, and attended Cow Creek Baptist Church in Irvine.
Survivors include her husband, James Lainhart of Richmond; two daughters, Gina Michelle Cerda and Kimberly Shepherd (Mike), both of Richmond; one son, James Douglas Lainhart (Hillary Jane Snowden); two sisters, Lorena Burns (Jeff) and Charlene Tipton; one brother, Greg Tipton; eight grandchildren, Hannah L. Cottongim, Joshua L. Cottongim, Katherine E. Cottongim Reese (Kayla), Sarah R. Foster (Nick), Breanna N. Hardin (Dexter), Samantha Lainhart, Nicholas A. Lainhart, and James B. Lainhart; and ten great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Daryl Wayne Lainhart; a brother, Bruce Tipton; and two sisters, Alice Lainhart and Virginia Lois Tipton.
Funeral service for Eunice was held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Rev. Johnny King officiating. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.

Hazel Sparks Noland, 94
Hazel Sparks Noland, age 94, wife of the late Joseph Noland for 56 years, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018.
She was a native of Estill County, born March 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Eli and Lillie West Sparks. She was a lifelong citizen of Estill county, a member of the Williams Memorial Baptist Church, a devoted wife and mother; she was well traveled, an excellent seamstress. She loved reading, and music. She was the owner and operator of the Village Shop in Irvine.
Mrs. Noland was preceded in death by her son, William Joseph Noland; her brothers: Odell Sparks, Earl Sparks, Donald Sparks, Raymond Sparks, Raleigh Sparks, Delbert Sparks, and Randall Sparks; her sisters: Lydia Sparks McKinney and Maxine Flynn; and her son-in-law, Ferrell D. McIntosh.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn N. McIntosh; her son, Jimmy Noland (Jan); her brothers: Eli Sparks Jr., Phillip Sparks, and Michael Sparks; her sister, Estine King; her grandchildren, Elizabeth McIntosh Kring (Phil), Jacqueline Noland, and Tyler Noland; her great grandchildren: Ella Jo Kring, Kylie Jo Noland, Lillie Noland Kring, and Elam Wyatt Noland; and two special caregivers: Nancy Rhodes and Lorriane Campbell.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 31st at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Jimmy Bonny and Bro. Chris Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30th at the funeral home.

Mary L. “Cookie” Brinegar, age 65, of Morgan Street in Berea, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at her home following a long illness.
She was born November 27, 1952 in Richmond and was the daughter of the late Wiley and Roxie Burdine Burns. She was a former B&B Deli employee and a member of the New Vision Pentecostal Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Brinegar was preceded in death by her husband, Foister “Duke” Brinegar.
She is survived by two daughters: Tabitha Parke (Steve) and Crystal Luster (John), both of Estill County; one son, Duke Anthony Brinegar, Estill County; two sisters: Loraine Bicknell and Linda Hoover, both of Madison County; four brothers: Wiley Burns, J.B. Burns, Millard Burns and David Burns, all of Madison County; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Parker; two brothers: Charles and Jay Hendricks; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 30, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jeff Jackson. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Jimmy Lee Conrad, age 69, of Peyton Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
He was born January 14, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late David and Polly Fields Conrad. He was a carpenter and a member of the Irvine First Church of God. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Conrad is survived by his wife, Alberta Knight Conrad; four sons: Craig Conrad, Powell County; Kevin Conrad, Estill County; Keith Conrad, Madison County; and Chris Conrad, Estill County; three step-children: Jeanna Grigsby, Eugene Patton, both of Powell County; and David Knight, Clark County; five sisters: Ona Tobias, Indiana; Marie Engle, Ohio; Maxine Freeman, Madison County; Virgie Stamp and Rosalee Spicer, both of Ohio; five brothers: Lonnie Conrad, Madison County; Herman Conrad, Ronnie Conrad, Mike Conrad, all of Estill County; and Glen Conrad, Madison County; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Della May Wetzel; and one brother, Russell Conrad.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 31, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, August 30th at the funeral home.

Clara White Marcum, 97, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018.
The widow of William Henry Marcum, she was born November 15, 1920 to the late Jim and Lizzie Hutchens White in Irvine, Kentucky. Clara was a member of Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Hansel (Donald), Frankfort; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Marcum (Linda), and Leroy Marcum (Shirley), both of Frankfort; seven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, William, and parents, Clara was preceded in death by daughters, Mary Catherine Marcum and Barbara Barbee; a sister, Barbara Hutchens; three brothers, Cecil White, Bill White, and Curt White; and a grandson, Roy Steven Marcum.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, at Clark Funeral Home, 241 Rose Hill Avenue in Versailles with Pastor Mike Justice officiating. A 12:00 Noon graveside service followed at Turpin Cemetery in Winston, Kentucky. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers included James Marcum, Jerry Marcum, Travis Devers, Jordan Devers, Don Hansel, and Bobby Hansel.
Robert Joseph Lunsford, 48
Robert Joseph Lunsford, age 48, of Hardy Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at his home.
He was born June 16, 1970 in Fayette County and was the son of Robert Bruce Lunsford Jr. and the late Corinne Jones Lunsford. He was a handyman and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include one son, Joseph Lunsford Georgia; two brothers: Anthony Wayne Lunsford, California; and James Lunsford, Washington; one half-sister, Elizabeth Abigale Valdez, California; and one half-brother, Peter Boyd Lunsford, California.
Memorial services were held at a later date.

Regina Ann Witt, age 66, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at her home.
She was born September 2, 1951 in Clark County and was the daughter of the late Adolph and May Mansfield Richardson. She was a homemaker and member of the Wisemantown Methodist Church and the Bethel Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Witt is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Charles Witt; two daughters: Ann-Marie McLoney (Greg), Jessamine County; and Sarah Beth Witt (Ronnie Gilliam), Indiana; one son, Ryan Charles Witt, Estill County; four sisters: Lois Lynch, Lavonne Estes, Norma (Willie) Terry, and Betty (Jackie) Griffin, all of Estill County; four brothers: Jesse L. Richardson, Madison County; Millard B. Richardson (Ruby), Estill County; Jerry G. Richardson (Kendra), Tennessee; and James A. Richardson, Estill County; five grandchildren: Gabrielle McLoney, Ariana McLoney, Kyden McLoney, Makayla Gilliam and Eli Gilliam; and two brothers-in-law: Victor L. Witt (Mary Ann) and Mark A. Witt (Nada).
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Ronald E. Estes and Melvin D. Lynch; and a special niece, Amanda Brooke Little.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 25, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ronald Lutes. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, August 24th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jesse Richardson, Millard Richardson, Jerry Richardson, Jimmy Richardson, Mark Witt and Victor Witt.
Jo Ann Morefield, 68

Jo Ann Morefield, age 68, wife of Clay Morefield of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born in Grassy Creek, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Lykins and Edna Couch Lykins. Jo Ann was a proud member of Mt. Parkway Church of God and the former driver of the church bus.
She is survived by her husband, Clay Morefield; two sons, James Morefield of Clay City and Thomas Morefield (Bethany) of Owingsville; two sisters, Phyllis Brooks of Irvine and Judy Proctor of Stanton; and two grandchildren, James Dylan Morefield and Raeann Jean Morefield.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers: John Huff, Burtis Wooten, Willie Maggard, Jerry Lykins and Charlie Lykins; and by one sister, Ella Maggard.
Funeral services officiated by Bro. Dale Payne were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Hearne Funeral Home Inc., 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation began at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22nd at the funeral home. Burial was in Cobb Hill Cemetery in Irvine with James Morefield, Thomas Morefield, Jesse Chadwick, Stacy Salleng, Bobby Barnett and John Brooks serving as active pallbearers.
