Margie Ann Ramey, 65
Margie Ann Ramey, 65, formerly of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, September 17, 2018 after a long illness. She was born May 5, 1953 in Estill County to Claude and Elizabeth Bailey Newman. She leaves behind her husband of nearly 50 years, Chester Allen Ramey.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Anthony Ramey (Jennifer); a daughter, Floria Estes (Chris Toney); two sisters: Martha Horn (Robbie) and Helen Martin (Chamber); her brothers: Johny Newnam, Glenn Newnam, and Ronnie Newnam; three grandchildren: C.J. Estes, Hali Cundiff (Justin), and Hannah Ramey; her great grandchildren: Robert Allison and Jessica Cundiff; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Bailey Newnam; her father, Claude Newnam; her brothers: Ernie, Paul, and Claude Jr. Newnam; her sisters: Freida Vanderpool and Dorothy Cole; one son, Todd Ramey; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, at Winchester Community Church on Franklin Avenue in Winchester, with Bro. Jackie Stamper officiating. Burial will follow in the Sparks Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 11:00 a.m. until service time Thursday, at the church.

Edward Lee Ross, 84
Edward Lee Ross, age 84, of Crystal Creek in Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born December 16, 1933 in Lee County and was the son of the late Robert Walker and Mamie Stamper Ross. He was a retired Allen Company employee and a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Community Church. He had lived in Lee County all his life.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Cole Ross.
He is survived by three daughters: Alene Gentry, Shirley Ratliff (George), both of Lee County; and Sharon Rawlins (Jack), Estill County; two sons: Jerry Ross (Vickie), Lee County; and Terry Ross (Stephanie), Madison County; two sisters: Mildred Griffin, Lee County; and Betty, Montgomery County; eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Louise and Martha Ross; and two brothers: Billy and Johnny Lee Ross.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, September 19, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kevin Phillips. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends call after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Willie Jerry Newton, 73
Willie Jerry Newton, age 73, of Church House Hill in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born May 8, 1945 in Estill County and was the son of the late Willie and Kathleen Arvin Newton. He was a retired employee of Eastern Kentucky University and the owner of Newton Septic Service. He attended the House of Prayer and had lived in Estill County all his life.
is survived by his wife, Stella Mae Powell Newton; one son, Jerry Douglas Newton (Bertha), Estill County; one sister, Charlotte Richardson, Estill County; one brother, Glenn Newton, Estill County; five grandchildren: Joshua Douglas Newton (Jamie), Jerrica Newton, Abel Lynn Newton, Jessica Hoover and Jayde Newton Raines (Selena); and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Hall; and one sister, Fannie Newton.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 18, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tony Riddell and Bro. Adam Arvin. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, September 17th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Joshua Newton, Jerrica Newton, Jerry Douglas Newton, Dale Borders, Travis Donahue, Dwayne Richardson and Jason Newton.

Chrystal Lynn Fowler, age 46, of Peyton Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at her home.
She was born April 7, 1972 in Rowan County and was the daughter of Lewis and Kay McKinney Maggard. She was an employee of Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Survivors in addition to her parents include: her husband, William J. Fowler; one daughter, Emily Fowler, Estill County; one son, Adam Fowler, Madison County; one brother, David Maggard, Jackson County; and her mother-in-law, Rebecca Viars Fowler, Estill County.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, September 15, 12 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Washington Grant “W.G.” Patrick, 72
Washington Grant “W.G.” Patrick, age 72, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
He was born September 17, 1945 in Estill County and was the son of the late Luther and Corda Roberts Patrick. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Merchant Marine where he worked as a radio officer. He also was a Ham Radio operator. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Patrick is survived by two sisters: Nancy Roberts, Estill County; and Diane Embs (Doyle), Fayette County; one brother, Paul Patrick, Fayette County and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were conducted at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Bobby Patrick, Parker Luttrell, Philip Roberts, Chuck Embs, James Keith and Charles Ballman.
Wavelene Tipton, 74

Wavelene Tipton, age 74, of Covington, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at her home. She was born October 25, 1943 in Estill County, the daughter of Audrey and the late Cecil Adams. Wavelene worked for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Housekeeping.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Tipton; her father; Cecil Adams; a daughter, Cindy Tipton; and a granddaughter, Jessica Schwachter.
Wavelene is survived by her sons: Jeffrey Tipton and Dwight Tipton; her mother; Audrey Adams of Ravenna; two sisters: Alma ”Gay” Freimuth and Shelia Adams; and one great grandchild.
Visitation was Saturday, September 15, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, 313 West 19th Street, Covington. Funeral service followed at 3:00 p.m at the funeral home.

Scotty Marshall, 80
Scotty Marshall, age 80, husband of Jean Williams Marshall, passed away at his home Tuesday, September 11, 2018, after a long illness.
He was born April 10, 1938 in Irvine, Kentucky, a son of the late Shelby and Mattie Noland Marshall. He was a retired employee of the Trane company and a former employee of Lewis Funeral Home. Scotty was a 27-year veteran of the National Guard.
Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his brothers: Eugene, Edward "Snooks", James, and Charles; and a sister, Margaret Marshall.
Survivors other than his beloved wife Jean include his sons Gary Marshall (Amy) and Don Marshall (Vanessa); his grandchildren: Amber Thompson, Kasie Isaacs, Tiffany Young, Cody Marshall, Taylor Tate, Ryan Tipton, Deanna Moore, and Jacob Southwood; and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Williams Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Cody Marshall, Justin Young, Brian Thompson, Oscar Moore, Jacob Southwood, and John Isaacs.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Sloane, Rogers Centers, Freddy Davenport, David Chaney, Taylor Tate, and Robbie Marshall.
Rev. Millard Anderson, 91

Rev. Millard Anderson, age 91, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was the son of the late Ben and Maggie Willoughby Anderson.
Bro. Anderson was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Anderson, and all of his brothers and sisters.
He was the pastor of the Jeffersonville First Church of God since 1983 and previously served as pastor of Gum Springs Church of God in Estill County. Preaching was his love and he had preached since 1957 at different churches in Kentucky. He also had a Christian radio program for 57 years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in World War II and was a retired Avon army ordinance employee.
Bro. Anderson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma Martin Anderson of Jeffersonville; two sons, John David Anderson (Debbie) of Mt. Sterling and Millard Douglas Anderson (Lynn) of Jeffersonville; four grandchildren, J. J. Anderson, Mikey Anderson, Megan Beth (Andrew Woods), Megan Pennington (Buddy Leach); four great grandchildren, Michelle Parker, Ethan Anderson, Nash Leach and Anderson Woods; and one great, great granddaughter, Addyson Vice. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and all of his church families.
Funeral services was at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel, 109 East Main Street in Mount Sterling with Revs. Ganis Rogers, Raymond Townsend and Herbie Lewis officiating and burial following in the Martin Cemetery. Friends visited Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. at the Taul Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Pallbearers were Buddy Leach, Andrew Woods, Mike Anderson, Ethan Anderson, Herbie Lewis, Dexter Barnes, Greg Spencer and Wayne Joseph.
Honorary pallbearers were Stan Willoughby, Kelly Poe, Anderson Woods, Nash Leach, Ralph Smith, Hoss Prater, Phillip George, Kash Bishop, Stewart Sparks, Larry Bishop, Willie Ferguson and Allen Dudley.
Military rites were performed by American Legion Post #22.

Mildred Greene Stamper, 92, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Landmark of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar Richard Greene.
Mildred was born on May 23, 1926 in Estill County, to the late Robert and Callie Dickerson Thacker. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Greene's Grocery for many years.
Surviving is a son, Walter "Bub" Greene (Sue) of Nicholasville; two daughters: Edna Shepherd (Clayton) of Garrard County and Hallie Lamb (Darrell) of Lancaster; Kenneth Thacker (Barbara) of Ohio, Jimmy Thacker (Sue) of Irvine, and Glenn Thacker of Cynthiana; six grandchildren, Dwayne Shepherd, Daniel Lamb, Dustin Lamb, Kimberlee Alvarez, Krystal Long, and Kelly Greene Miller; ten great grandchildren, Meghan Shepherd, Zack Alvarez, Alexis Alvarez, Kallie Ann Greene, Braden Greene, Avery Long, Jackson Long, Jaden Miller, Elijah Lamb, and Jack Lamb.
Mildred was also preceded in death by siblings, Charles Thacker, Clinton Thacker, Daisy Chester, Ellis Edwards, and Elsie Johnson.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, 1782 Lexington Road, Lancaster, with Rev. Geno Washington officiating. Visitation was 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, September 12th at the funeral home. Burial was in Manse Cemetery in Paint Lick.
Active pallbearers were Dwayne Shepherd, Daniel Lamb, Dustin Lamb, Krystal Long, Kelly Miller, and Bill Hurt.
Honorary pallbearers were Fairview Christian Church members and caretakers at Landmark of Lancaster.

David W. Taylor, 71

David W. Taylor, age 71, Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Clark Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Irvine, on May 26, 1947, to the late Charles Taylor, Sr. and Ollie Brandenburg Taylor. He was a veteran of the Kentucky National Guard. He was a contractor and heavy machinery operator, spending most of his days on dozers and in the woods logging.
Mr. Taylor is survived by one son, Jonathan Taylor (Amanda); three grandchildren, Emma, Adelynn and Elias Taylor; two brothers, Garry and Charlie Taylor, Jr.; and two sisters, Princess Benton and Wanda Lee Casey.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Henry Clay and William “Tucker” Taylor and three sisters, Ella Marie Ratliff, Della Holbrook and Cora Jo Flynn.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 12th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, at the funeral home by Pastor Doyle Spry. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery at the Taylor Family Farm.
Pallbearers will be Gary Allen Taylor, Michael Brandenburg, Scott Benton, Allen Taylor, Brad Goolman, Dewayne Taylor, Ronald Brinegar and Wallace Taylor.

Terina Faye Griffin, age 54, of Mountain Crest Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
She was born August 11, 1964 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Dwight Hunt and Rosa Faye Henry Wilson. She was a cook and baker and a member of the Rice Station Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Ms. Griffin is survived by one daughter, Krystal Hunt, Estill County; one son, James Michael Tipton, Estill County; one brother, Sherman Riddell (Gwen), Jefferson County; four grandchildren: Julien, Erilyn, Levi and Lilly; and one niece, Jessica Riddell.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emily Hunt.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 12, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Kirt Scott. Burial will be at the White Oak Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mafrey Lamb, age 86, of Ellis Court in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center following a short illness.
She was born June 21, 1932 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Rutherford and Emmer Morris McKinney. She was a homemaker and member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She had lived in Madison County most of her life.
Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Lamb.
She is survived by two daughters: Elaine Willis, Richmond; and LaRaine Lamb Whittemore, Berea; one sister, Cordelia Sparks, Irvine; one brother, Hogan McKinney, Wilmore; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Adith Fox, Ineth Sparks, and Reva Gordon; and three brothers: Mildred “Buddy” McKinney, Hurley McKinney and Ancil McKinney.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 13, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Hunt Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, September 12th at the funeral home.

Kaydi Jo Dawes, infant daughter of Bryan and Cathy Dawes, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at Baptist Health in Richmond.
Survivors in addition to her parents include one brother, Kolby Dawes; and her grandparents, Roger and Sheree Dawes. She is also survived by the following aunts and uncles who loved her very much: Darrell and Debbie Wright of Carroll County, Jackie Woosley of Irvine, Dino Powell of Irvine, Jeff and Vicki Horn of Ravenna, Beattle and Aime Ormes of Irvine, and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Danny and Betty Powell, William and Aileen Harrison, and Orville and Anna Mae Dawes.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the family farm on Cressy Road.

Beverly Witt, age 91, husband of Virginia Creech Witt, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at the VA Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born April 9, 1927 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Emmanuel Miller Witt and Edda Mae Neal Witt. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include, wife, Virginia Creech Witt; brother, Miller Farris Witt (Lavela), Lafayette, Tennessee; and sister, Marjorie Hanks, Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel Miller and Edda Mae Witt; a son, Michael D. Witt; and a daughter, Brenda Witt Patterson.
Services Monday, September 10, 12:00 Noon, Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton by Rev. James Harold Combs. Visitation Monday after 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Stanton Cemetery with military honors.
James A. Cox, Jr.

COX, James A., Jr., age 85, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his residence in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born on May 1, 1933 to James Archie Cox and Mary Chesney Hoover Cox in South Irvine, he was preceded in death by his mother and father; his sisters, Jewell Harris, Opal Miller, and Delphine Cox; and his brothers, Truman Cox, Delbert Cox, and Cecil Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy June (Scott) Cox, a sister, Marjorie Ella Wolfinbarger of Irvine; his son, Charles Anthony Cox; a daughter-in-law, Julie Traver Cox of LaGrange; his grandsons, Elijah Traver Cox, Evan Jasper Cox; and his namesake, Ian James Cox.
Mr. Cox spent his South Irvine boyhood playing in the fields, hunting in the hills, and swimming in the Kentucky River. He was “Archie”, “Jimmy”, or “Redbeard” to all who knew him well. He took his first real job working the third shift at the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company where his father and grandfather were both employed. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 through 1956 during the Korean conflict; stationed in England, Africa, Alaska, and Pinecastle AFB (McCoy) in Orlando, Florida where he met and fell in love with his wife, Patsy June Scott of Carlisle. They were married on Nov 18, 1955 in Orlando, Florida. After his discharge, they moved back to their home state of Kentucky to put down roots in Lexington. He worked for International Business Machines until his retirement in 1990. He and Patsy have lived in their original Lexington home ever since. They were avid square dancers, mall walkers, and completed travels to all of the Kentucky State Parks making many great memories along the way. He gave of his time, energy, and love to his family and friends. He served the Lord and did all he could to help others. He learned to love the game of soccer as his three grandsons all played and they spent many hours watching from the sidelines. His eldest grandson Elijah now attends the University of Kentucky while Evan and Ian attend Oldham County High School.
A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10th at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Shirley Fae Williams, age 72, of Barnes Mountain Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born February 4, 1946 in Bell County and was the daughter of the late Pascal and Thelma Storms Wilson. She was a homemaker and attended the Jackson Chapel Church.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Dale Williams, Sr.
She is survived by one son, Ron Coburn Jr., Michigan; five sisters: Wilma Lee Burroughs, Clark County; Mary Lou Cortinez, Texas; Teresa Wombles, Clay County; Lisa Fugate, Boone County; and Wiline Wicker, Ohio; two brothers: Shelby Wilson, Powell County; and Otis Hampton Jr., Tennessee; two grandchildren and thre great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Wilson.
