Reva Brewer, 82
|
Reva Brewer, age 82 of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at her residence.
She was born September 9, 1936 in Clark County to Thomas and Bessie Johnson. She was a member of the Knowlton Church of God and was a former supervisor at the Lycoming Shoe Factory and Powell Manufacturing.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by three sons: William D. Brewer Jr. of Ravenna, Lenox Brewer of Lufkin, Texas; and Tommy Brewer (Stella) of Ravenna; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Johnson of Fernley, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D Brewer Sr., and her parents, Thomas and Bessie Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue, Clay City, with Bro. Kenny Wasson officiating. Burial followed in the Brewer Cemetery in Ravenna. Friends visited Tuesday from 11:00 until time of the service at the funeral home.
Norma Barker Walton, 78

Norma Barker Walton, age 78, widow of Jim Walton, passed away at her home, Friday, October 26, 2018.
She was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Silas Barker and the late Opal Turner Lemay. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, ceramics, beadwork, crafting, gardening, canning, cooking, playing guitar, and building her family.
In addition to her husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Provie Kirby and Mary Lou Shrader; a brother-in-law, Billy Freeman; and a son-in-law, Randy Birch.
Survivors include her children: Nancy Ross, James Walton (Rhonda), Brenda Birch, Phillip Walton, and Eddie Walton (Hope); her siblings: Teddy Rawlins (Sue), William Rawlins (Carol), Elizabeth Freeman, Cathy Shepard (James Richardson), Francis Walsh (Jerry), Judy McKinney (Glenn), Sarah Brinegar (Kenny), Sue Brinegar (Shirley), Martha Brinegar (Ralph), Virginia Embree (Roger), Carolyn Bishop (Mark), David Barker, Michael Barker (Milanda), Owen Barker (Rebecca), and Joy Brown (Fred); eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29th at the Thomas Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Kirby officiating. Burial followed in the Kirby Cemetery. Friends called after 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Church.
Pallbearers were be James Ross, Ryan Walton, Travis Brooks, Chris Neal, Fred Weddington, and Jon Fore.
Honorary pallbearers were Doug Kirby, Timothy Kirby and Jacob Birch.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals.
William Jennings Harrison, Jr., 67
William Jennings Harrison, Jr., 67, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
He was born in Estill County, the son of the late William Harrison, Sr. and Martha Hackworth Harrison. He was a brick layer by occupation.
Survivors include three sons: Douglas Harrison of Irvine, Joseph Peck of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Steven Stephenson of Hampton, Ohio; a daughter, Stephanie VanWinkle of Irvine; one brother, Sammy Hammons of Richmond; and two sisters: Judy Roy and Effie Burrus, both of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Harrison; and two sisters: Brenda Harrison and Sue Triplette.
Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, in the West Irvine Cemetery with his brother, Sammy Hammons, officiating. His family served as pallbearers.
Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home of Richmond was in charge of arrangements.

Sue Harrison Triplette, 74

Sue Harrison Triplette, age 74, widow of Johnny Triplette, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late William Jennings Harrison and Martha Jean Smith Harrison. Mrs. Triplette was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Bowling; her sister, Brenda Harrison; and her brother, Randall Harrison.
Survivors include her children: Gena Hall (Mike), Randy Bowling, Lisa Mott (Bob), April Cody (William), and Anna (Jerry) Parks; her grandchildren: James Michael Hall, Jennifer Hall, Corey Bowling, Damond Reid, Paige Adkinson (Jon), Joel Harrison (Laura), Vernon Harrison, Bradley Roberts, Brittney Parks, and Ricky Parks; her great grandchildren: Chase Bowling, Gracie Bowling, Carson Adkinson, and Gavin Adkinson; her siblings: Judy Roy (Bill), William Harrison, Effie Burrus (Ronnie), and Sammy Hammonds (Pat); a sister-in-law, Gracie Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 14th at Heritage Funeral Home of Richmond with services begining at 1:00 p.m. Burial was in the Turpin Cemetery at Winston.
Pallbearers were James Michael Hall, Corey Bowling, Damond Reid, Joel Harrison, Vernon Harrison, and Bradley Roberts.

Sally W. Howard
Sally W. Howard, a resident of the Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berea, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
She was born in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Tolbert and Mary Moreland West. She was a retired Star Bank employee and a member of the Richmond First Church of the Nazarene.
Ms. Howard is survived by her son, John William Howard II (Dina Ruedel), California.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Patsy Ellen Gilliam, Marie Jenkins, Peggy Elliott, and Myrtle Faye Richardson; and three brothers: Larry Dale West, Tracy West and Charlie West.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, October 27, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Friends called after 12 Noon, Saturday, at the Funeral Home.
Isaac “Ike” Napier Jr., 67
Isaac “Ike” Napier, Jr., age 67, of Napier Lane in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Baptist Health Lexington following a short illness.
He was born August 20, 1951 in Hazard, Kentucy, and was the son of the late Isaac and Amanda Campbell Napier. He was a retired foreman with CSX Railroad and attended the White Oak Church of God. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Napier is survived by one daughter, Kathi Jocelyn Richardson, Estill County; one sister, Maxine Puckett, Estill County; one brother, Rick Napier, Estill County; and four grandchildren: Karlie Jayne Richardson, Kevin Jay Richardson, Kerry Josiah Richardson and Jackson Layne Brown.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 22, 8:00 p.m., at the White Oak Church of God by Bro. Glyndon Woosley. Friends called between 6 and 8 p.m., Monday, at the church.
Pallbearers were Kevin Jay Richardson, Josiah Richardson, Josh Napier, Gerald Rader, Eric Puckett and Daniel Sparks.

Armeda Sparks Newton, 91
Armeda Sparks Newton, age 91, passed from her earthly life, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born April 30, 1927, in South Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Ruford and Grace Alcorn Sparks. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she had been organist for many years. She loved her church, family, and friends, with her great grandchildren being the joys of her life. She had lived in Estill County all of her life.
Ms. Newton is survived by one daughter, Peggy Martin, Estill County; one sister, Christine Newton, Estill County; one brother, Gordon Sparks, Montgomery County; two grandsons: Tyler Martin (Laurie) and Seth Martin, both of Estill County; a son-in-law: James Brashear (Renee), Estill County; and two great grandchildren: Samantha Martin and James Martin.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Brashear; two sisters: Catherine Flynn and Eugenia Vere; one brother, Delmas Sparks; one grandson, Jeffrey Brashear; and one son-in-law, James Martin II.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 20, 2:00 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church by Bro. Mark McLean and Bro. Todd Blevins. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 8 p.m., Saturday, October 19th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 1:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church.

Mary Elizabeth Tipton Coffey, 59
Mary Elizabeth Tipton Coffey, age 59, passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital.
She was a native of Estill County, born February 25, 1959, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lucy Abner Tipton. She enjoyed crafts and flowers.
Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanie Marie Tipton.
Survivors include her son, Clarence Tipton; her daughter, Angela Stamper; her brothers: Will Tipton, Lenny Tipton, Denny Tipton, and Eli Tipton; her grandchildren: Desiree Roe, Jasmine Roe, Kara Stamper, Shayla Stamper, and Austin Stamper; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, at the Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals. Burial followed in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18th at the funeral home.

Jeraldine Mansfield, age 81, of Phyllis Ann Court in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
She was born August 18, 1937 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Hubert and Myrtle Bishop Murphy. She was a retired Carhartt, Inc. employee and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Mansfield was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Mansfield.
She is survived by three daughters: Cecile Gail Dixon, Sherry Gwen Woolery, and April Renee Mize, all of Estill County; four sisters: Patricia Edmonson, Mary Nordmyer, Marie Dixon, all of Estill County; and Laura Stone, Madison County; two brothers: Kenneth Murphy and Scotty Murphy, both of Estill County; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jason Earl Dixon; three sisters: Cecile Justine Murphy, Earsle Kerby, and Beulah Murphy; and two brothers: Earl and Herbert Murphy.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 27, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, October 26th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Kendall Murphy, Robert Wayne Edmonson, Fairley Dixon, Farris Marcum, Mike Kerby, Darry Stone, Farrell Marcum, and Joseph (Bub) Woolery.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Dixon, Rick Kerby, Earl Burns, and Tony Marcum.
Denzil Ritchie, 61

Denzil Ritchie, 61, husband of Jodi Miller Ritchie passed away at his home on Sunday, October 7, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Ritchie was a native of Hindman, Kentucky, born July 22, 1957, a son of the late R.B. and Mae Roberts Hall. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Teresa Ritchie and Helen Bowling.
Survivors other than his wife, Jodi, include his sons: Denzil Nick Stevens, Michael Combs (Bethany), and David Ritchie (Chelsea Abney); his daughters: Teresa Mitchell (John), Juli Vires (Chris), and Jacquilyn Ritchie-Witt (Bruce Witt); his step-father, Danny Hall; his brothers: Boyd Ritchie (Cathy), Dan Ritchie (Lisa), and Danny Hall Jr.; his sisters: Marlene Ritchie, Lil Ritchie (John Hall), and Melody Frane (Fleetus); and his grandchildren: Cheyenne Ritchie, Riley Noble, Josh Noble, Ceaira Mitchell, John Mitchell Jr., Candice Mitchell, Silas Mitchell, Montana Stevens, Tristan Stevens, Ethan Estes, Matthew Isaiah Estes, Lilyann Grace Estes, Rebekah Vires, Isaiah Vires, Jayden Ritchie, Isaiah Abney-Clapper and Hadley Ritchie.
There was an interment service at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 20th at the Ritchie Cemetery in Beattyville. There was a celebration of life immediately following at the home of his sister, Lil Ritchie, 1861 Hwy 399, Beatyville. All friends and family were invited and encouraged to attend.
