Catherine Plowman Riddell, 88
Catherine Plowman Riddell, age 88, of Pea Ridge Road in Irvine, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
She was born January 19, 1930 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late George and Katherine Babb Plowman. She was a former employee of Long John Silver’s and a member of the Pea Ridge Holiness Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Riddell is survived by her husband, Cornell Riddell; two daughters: Judy Jones, Powell County; and Dorothy Chevalier, Pulaski County; one son, Denver Riddell, Madison County; two sisters: Dorothy West, Indiana; and Christine Winstead, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Lavone Riddell; one son, Roger Riddell; three brothers: Mitchell, Ray and James Plowman; one grandchild, three half-sisters and two half-brothers.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Leonard Wilder. Burial was at the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, December 1st at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jeff Riddell, Joseph Riddell, Jeffery Riddell, Lewie Hatton, Nicholas Sparks and Pete McDonald.
Honorary pallbearer was Buddy Sparks.
Jerald Edward Stacy, 68

Jerald Edward Stacy, age 68, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
He was born December 21, 1949 in Clark County and was the son of the late Dennis and Helen Johnston Stacy. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam era and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a contractor and member of the Sandhill Christian Church.
Mr. Stacy was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Napier Stacy.
He is survived by one son, Ashley Brett Stacy, Estill County; four sisters: Judy Stacy, Joan Murphy (Kenny), Janey Bishop (Cecil), and Jenny Collins (Mike), all of Estill County; one brother: Joseph Allen Stacy (Sue), Madison County; one grandchild, Madix Fields; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. Stacy was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Stacy Fields; and one brother, Jack Dennis Stacy.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 6, 1-3 p.m., at the Sandhill Christian Church followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Bro. Matt Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to VA or the Sandhill Christian Church.

Isabella He-Lene "Bella Jean" Branham, infant, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.
She was born on October 23, 2018 to Jerry T. Branham Jr. and Andrea He-lene Victoria Branham of Irvine.
In addition to her parents, Bella Jean is survived by a brother, Thomas "Tom Tom" Branham; her grandparents, Tommy and Myra Lynn Branham of Irvine; six aunts and uncles and numerous cousins and other extended family.
Services were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, by Pastor Neil Salvaterra. Visitation was 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial was in the Burton Family Cemetery on Burton-Williams Road in Irvine.
In lieu of flowers Jerry and Andrea requested donations to the Ronald McDonald house of Cincinnati. They have been such a great help in allowing Jerry and Andrea to be close to Bella.
Anna Ruth Jordan, 74
Anna Ruth Jordan, age 74, wife of Harold Rodney Jordan, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
She was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky, on August 7, 1944, to the late William and Bertha Walling Estes. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and retired from Wal-Mart.
In addition to her loving husband of 57 years, she is survived by four children, Leisa Jean Ewen (David Mason), Scott Rodney Jordan (Tracey), Charlotte Ann Braden (Mike) and William Harold Jordan (Maryjean); two siblings, Virgil Estes and Shirlene Ross (Rodney); nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service was held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 28 South Main Street in Winchester, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive, Winchester, KY 40391.

Martha Ann Sparks, 81
Martha Ann Sparks, age 81, of Walton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at her home following a long illness.
She was born February 20, 1937 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Ada Walling Berger. She was a homemaker and a former nurses' aide with the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs.Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, William Sparks.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Rogers, Irvine; one son, Larry Sparks, Richmond; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Flinchum; and three brothers: Leonard, Shirley and Linville Berger.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 30, 11:00 a.m., at the Sunset Memorial Gardens by Donnie Watson.
Pallbearers were Nathan Sparks, Richard Petty, Letcher Walling, Tim Conders, Steve Hardy and Tim Gilbert.

Faye (Clemmons) King was born September 1, 1952 in Jackson County, Kentucky, and departed this life Monday, November 26, 2018 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, being 66 years of age. She was the daughter of the late James F. & Flossie (Isaacs) Clemmons.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Carpenter of McKee and Jennifer (Carl) White of Corbin; and by two siblings, Leslie Clemmons of Louisville and Margie Alexander of Irvine. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Thelma Faye White, Darryl and Nathan Carpenter; and by a host of nieces and nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Roy King; a sister, Dora Clemmons and by four brothers, Floyd, John, Paul and Guy Clemmons.
Funeral service was at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 at Lakes McKee Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Carpenter officiating. Burial followed in the Grassy Springs Cemetery.

Ray Muncie, age 91, of Dry Branch Road in Irvine, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
He was born February 17, 1927 in Estill County and was the son of the late Hal and Eudell Winburn Muncie. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving two terms. He was a retired employee of Bundy Tubing and was of the Baptist faith. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Muncie was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Berryman Muncie.
He is survived by his son, Danny Ray Muncie (Rose Marie), Irvine; two sisters: Theda Christopher, Ohio; and Helen Mays, Estill County; one brother: Larry Dale Muncie, Estill County; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. and seven great, great grandchildren.
Mr. Muncie was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Elizabeth Muncie Flynn; three sisters: Edna Berryman, Oma Catherine Muncie, and Agnes Neal; and two brothers: James Wayne Muncie and Elmer Muncie.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 29, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Scott Rogers. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Susan Hall, age 32, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born in Lexington to Jeffery and Denise Hall. She was a member of The Lighthouse Church of God in Winchester.
Susan is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Denise Hall of Winchester; her fiancée, Thomas Slone of Nicholasville; a son, Cameron Davidson of Beattyville, a brother, William Hall of London; two sisters, Felisha Hall of London; and Jennifer Newkirk of Irvine; and a sister in-law, Aldonica Kiger.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Friday, November 30, 2018 with Bro. Ryan Dotson officiating. Friends visited Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial followed in the West Bend Cemetery.

David Lee Stamper, 62

David Lee Stamper, the husband of Beatrice Ratliff Stamper of Beattyville, Kentucky, and the son of the late Theria C. and Geneva Davis Stamper, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on February 28, 1956 and departed this life in Richmond, Kentucky on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 24 days. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kentucky Petroleum Supply and a volunteer deputy for the Lee County Sheriff’s office.
In addition to his wife, Beatrice, Mr. Stamper is survived by two sons, Thomas Stamper (Patricia) of Beattyville, and Joseph Stamper (Nikki) of Irvine; a grandson, Elijah Stamper; a granddaughter, Kyla Stamper; three sisters, Margo Cope (Don) of Lexington; Pauline Foster (Bill), and Brenda Childers (Bug), both of Beattyville; two brothers, Bill Stamper (Marilyn) and Theria Stamper (Patricia), both of Beattyville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Stamper is proceeded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Brown and Betty Noe; and two brothers, JC and Gary Stamper.
Visitation was held Sunday, November 25, 12:00 Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Center Street in Beattyville, with Bro. Mike Spencer officiating. Burial was in the Davis Cemetery in Beattyville.
Clayton Hall Jr., 81
Clayton Hall Jr., 81, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, in Sarasota Florida.
He was a native of Estill County, born April 2, 1937, a son of the late Clayton and Joyce Watson Hall. He was a retired railroader who enjoyed fishing, reading Westerns, being outdoors, and playing drums. He was a member of Fraternal order of Eagles, Fraternal Order of Moose, and the American Legion.
Survivors include three sons: Scott, Greg, and Joel Hall; his companion, Diane French; three step-children; his brother, Gary Hall (Peggy); eight wonderful grandchildren and eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 1st at Cobhill Crossroads Community Church with Bro. Elwood Patrick officiating. Burial followed in the Cobhill Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Emory Browning, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Nicholas County, September 10, 1937 to Early and Erma Browning. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked for the V. A. for 24 years.
Mr. Browning is survived by three sons: Emory Darrell Browning (Deborah) of Dallas, Texas; Christopher Browning of California, and Gregory Browning of Stanton; one daughter, Catharine Puckett of Irvine; several grandchildren, two brothers: Alan Browning of Jeffersonville and Howard Browning (Faye) of Wheelersburg, Ohio; and two sisters: Marcella Flora (Vic) of Maysville; and Ella Waters (Don) of Georgetown, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents Early and Erma Browning, and two sisters, Barbara Kirk, and a sister that was still born, Loretta Browning.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, November 29, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City. Friends visited Wednesday, November 28th from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Shannon Cemetery in Mason County.

Rebecca Lynn Riddell Hamilton, age 58, of Bertha Wallace Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
She was born December 16, 1959 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ester Horn Riddell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband, James Hamilton, Estill County; two sons: James “Porky” Hamilton and Jamie Lynn Riddell, both of Estill County; two sisters: Judy Riddell and Linda Hardy, both of Estill County; one brother, Wayne Riddell, Estill County; and one grandchild, James Waylon Hamiton.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Hart.

Sharon Faye Meadows, age 62, widow of Shirley Ray Meadows, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Cedars of Lebanon surrounded by family.
Mrs. Meadows was born November 18, 1956 in Estill County to the late Zelma Abney.
She was loved by aunt, Vivian Rogers (Eddie), Lebanon; uncles, Edward Abney (Charlotte), Mechanicsburg, Illinois; Howard Abney (Pat), Springfield, Illinois; and Gene Abney (Leona), Patsy; and a special pet, Junior the therapy dog.
Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her mother, Zelma Abney; and husband, Shirley Ray Meadows.
Services were held Wednesday, November 28, 11:00 a.m., Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Ganus Rogers and Bro. Kenny Wasson. Visitation was held on Tuesday after 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Cobb Hill Cemetery with Bobby Rogers, Robert Thacker, Mark Rogers, Dustin Meadows, Eddie Chaney, and Michael Rogers serving as pallbearers.

Charlie “Chuck” Smith Jr., age 69, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at his home.
Born September 26, 1949, in Madison County, he was the son of Charlie and Edna Rea (Morris) Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonzo Smith.
Chuck, who was retired, had served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include his sisters, Wilma Smith Fike (Garrett) of Irvine; Lorene Smith of Richmond and Pearl Brandenburg of Kings Mill, Ohio; as well as many nephews and nieces.
There was a gathering of family and friends at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:30 p.m. at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home,1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond..

Otis Glendon Smith, Sr., 85

Otis Glendon Smith Sr., age 85, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, November 23, 2018. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggles (along with the good folks at Autumn Woods Health Campus) and ultimately gave him peace.
Otis was born to the late Virgil and Castira Smith, a laborer and a homemaker respectively, in Wisemantown, Kentucky on June 21, 1933. He was immersed in the Christian faith that would be his lifelong journey from an early age of 17. He joined the United States Army in 1953, and also served the National Guard for many years. He retired from General Electric in 1995 after 28 years of service.
Mr. Smith was blessed with a loving family. He married a young woman from Adair County, Kentucky, Pauline Giles Smith, on December 7, 1956 in New Albany, Indiana. Otis helped raise four children with patience, discipline, and love. He taught them to play, took them to church, and often took them on family trips to see their grandparents Giles on the farm near Knifley, Kentucky. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the truth of the gospels. Otis was a Christian in his heart, mind and soul. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to help others, no matter who. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Otis is survived by his wife, Pauline; his sons: Glendon Smith (Amy) and Donald Smith (Diane); his daughters: Diana Jones (John) and Pamela Keene; his grandchildren, Melanie Lynn, Adam Wesley, Sara Elizabeth, Abigail Ann, Emily Sue, Elisabeth Rose, Andrea Michelle, Olivia Louise, Rebekah Faith, Naomi Grace, and Lydia Hope; his eleven great grandchildren; and his brothers, Samuel Smith (Alice) and Bobby Smith (Janice).
Visitation was from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2018 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana; and 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27th at Christ’s Community Church of the Nazarene, 4920 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral service was held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the church with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.

Robert C. Hedger, age 60, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Baptist Health Hospital.
He was born in Winchester, April 3, 1958, to Robert Sr. and Brunie Woosley Hedger.
Mr. Hedger is survived by three sons: Travis Hall, Benji Fay and Robert Hedger Jr., all of Winchester; two daughters: Misty Barnes of Mt. Sterling and Robyn Hedger of Irvine; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Brunie Hedger.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue, Clay City. Friends visited Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Jimmie David Henry, age 69, of Elizabeth Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
He was born April 5, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late Elbridge and Dema Plowman Henry. He was a member of the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene and had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Henry is survived by two sisters: Lena Samples (Jerry) and Sharon Murphy, both of Estill County; and two brothers: Shelby Henry (Patricia), Estill County; and Arthur F. Henry (Donna), Virginia.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 26, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Donnie Watson. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Harold Wayne Dennis, age 72, of Moberly Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at his home following a short illness.
He was born November 23, 1945 in Estill County and was the son of the late R.J. and Mandy Marie Means Dennis. He was owner & operator of D&D Auction Company and was a member of the Ravenna Church of God. He loved playing the guitar and singing gospel music with his family. He enjoyed being a faith builder and traveling for God, spreading the Word through song.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Clella Gordon Dennis; three daughters: Pam Ross (Isaac), Richmond; Debbie Beair, Winchester; and loved as his own, Barb Dawes, Richmond; three sons: Ricky Plowman (Kathy), Clay City; Wayne Plowman (Kathy), Winchester; and Mike Plowman, Clay City; five sisters: Myrtle Conrad (Ronnie), Sylvia Cain (Julian), Lella Gordon (Hargus), all of Irvine; Oramae Bridges (Lemmie), Lexington; and Bonnie Jones, Irvine; two brothers: Earl Dennis, Richmond; and Delbert Dennis, Carlisle; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He loved all his grandkids, but, Randigail, your Papaw loved you so much because he helped raise you. Savannah and Tosha, you girls have always been so close to Papaw and you also held a very special place in his heart. He loved his girls.
Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Dennis; and one brother, Cecil Dennis.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 25, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Gene Johns. Burial was at the Flatwoods Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, November 24th at the funeral home.

William Morgan “Billy” Alexander, age 78, husband of Janice Noland Alexander, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.
Billy was born on June 22, 1940 in Richmond, Kentucky, the son of the late Ralph and Mabelle Hill Alexander. He was a farmer and a fox hunter. Billy attended the Providence Baptist Church at Winston, and was a 50-Year Member of the Waco Masonic Lodge #338 F & AM.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; four children: Russell “Rusty” Alexander (Kimberly), Lisa Carol Justice (James), Cathy Lynn Barnes (Garry) and Michael Logan Alexander (Sherry); one sister, Betty Alivia Wilson (Robert); eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Rev. Bill VanWinkle officiating. Burial followed in the College Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Friday evening, November 23rd at the funeral home.

Roberta Sparks, age 66, of Dinsmore Street in Berea, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at the Baptist Health Richmond following a long illness.
She was born January 13, 1952 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Mae Sparks White. She was a homemaker and attended the Cartersville Holiness Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, Wendall Sparks.
She is survived by two daughters: Anita Arvin, Powell County; and Regina Arvin, Nevada; two sons: William Arvin and Ricky Arvin, both of Madison County; five sisters: Joyce Edmonson, Teresa Smith, Rosalie Smith, Wilma Jean Sparks, all of Estill County; and Gladys Davis, Madison County; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by five sisters: Elizabeth Sparks, Betty Jo White, Sharon Logston, Margie Stanley and Marzella White.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 24, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bruce Alcorn and Bro. Harold Edmonson. Burial was at the Newton Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, November 23rd at the funeral home.

Joel Scott Noland, 68, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Ajijic, Mexico, after a short illness.
Joel was born September 25, 1950, in Madison County, the son of Sara Scott Minor Noland, age 98 and the late Cecil Noland.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joy Lee Chambers Noland; daughters: Julie Noland and Catherine Noland-Stambush (Dan); grandchildren: Cara, Colin and Clare Stambush; and William (Fox) Quinn; his sisters: Susan Dick, Nancy Bidwell, and Amy Hughes (Eddie); and his nieces and nephews: Susan Beth Cocolas, Keith Wilson, Jay Wilson, Matthew Bidwell and Luke Hughes.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Irvine United Methodist Church, 243 Main Street, Irvine, at 2 p.m. Friends may call after 1 p.m., and a celebration of life reception will be held after the service at the church.
Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Edward Wilson, Tobo Bryant, Joel Jennings, Sean Russell, Gearld Hutchins, Scott Minor, Neale Russell and Bryan Quinn.
