Nina Opal King Riley, 92
|
Nina Opal King Riley, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berea, Kentucky, on Friday, December 14, 2018. She was a homemaker and former teacher for the Estill County School System, and lived most of her life in Estill County.
She was born August 26, 1926 in Irvine, Kentucky, to Samuel Mae King and Nannie Cole King. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Charles (T.C.) Riley; two daughters: Naomi Gayle Riley Davis and Donna Lou Riley Ball; a granddaughter, Lisa Schaaf James; and her siblings: Alvin Mitchell King, Edna Hall, Bessie Rison Whitt, James King, Harold King, Ann Collett, Charles Ray King and Mary Elizabeth King.
Mrs. Riley was a member of River Drive Christian Church, and attended Friendship Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church over the years. She was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Kentucky Colonel, and a former member and officer of the Marcum-Wallace Hospital Auxiliary. She had a passion for reading and writing, and enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and gardening. She also enjoyed listening to Gospel music, Big Band music, and Oldies music. Above all else, she loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family and friends.
Nina is survived by her children: Bobbie Kay Schaaf, Rock Hill, South Carolina; Anthony Covey (Opal), Cobhill; Rebecca Riley Brode (Lewis), Cincinnati, Ohio; Daniel Clay Riley (Laura), Cincinnati, Ohio; Judith Ann Riley Rucker (Alan), Richmond; Lee Franklin Riley (Marie), Irvine; and Col.(RET) Ronald Guy Riley, Frankfort; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Riley's visitation was Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. at Warren Toler Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home by Donnie Watson, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Riley, Todd Reynolds, Chess Rucker, Jody Collett, William Cole "Bud" Tucker, and Kevin Hall.
Honorary pallbearers were Dave Cox, Pepper Hardy, Darryl Hall, Jerry Hall, Rick Riley, Donald Neal Riley, Billy Cole Tucker, and Larry Honchell.

Evelyn Hazel Woosley, 82

Evelyn Hazel Woosley, age 82, of Tuggles Branch in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018, at her daughter’s home following a long illness.
She was born June 1, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Alice Hall Barnes. She was a member of the Miller’s Creek Church of God and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Woosley was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Woosley.
She is survived by: five daughters: Linda Carol Williams, Clark County; Judy Lynn Estes (Hubert), Estill County; Nancy Joyce Woosley, Clark County; Stella Jane Estes (Danny), Alabama; and LaShonda Carol Franklin (Shean), Fayette County; three sons: James Larry Woosley (Wilma), Samuel Linville Woosley, both of Clark County; and Russell Clay Woosley (Leigh), Texas; one sister, Betty Larrison, Estill County; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Woosley was preceded in death by three sisters: Zella Golden Conner, Geneva Barnes, and Ora Lee Jones; and six brothers: Bob, Dick, Preston, Bill, Glenn and Sam Barnes.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 18, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Merle Travis. Burial was at the Crowe Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, December 17th at the funeral home.
Betty Lois White Jennette, 77

Betty Lois White Jennette, 77, loving wife of Joe W. Jennette Jr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Estill County, she was born February 16, 1941 to the late William and Alvie Rose White. Betty was a member of Tates Creek Christian Church and a retired clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court where she had been employed for 37 years. She loved mowing her yard in the summer, walking outside admiring the trees and flowers and was especially fond of her cat.
In addition to her husband, she will be fondly remembered by her sisters: Evelyn Ruth Cox, Harrodsburg; Wanda Hilton, and Frances Sanders, both of Versailles; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance Service was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 15, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, 207 West Oak Street, Nicholasville, with Brother Bruce Carpenter officiating. She was laid to rest in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
Honoring her as pallbearers were Bryan, Darien, Randy and Kyle Wade; Eric and Chad Kestel; and Chuck Jennette.
Honorary bearers were Gerald McKinney and Troy Hager.
Her family greeted friends beginning at 5:00 p.m., on Friday, December 14th and ending at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul Douglas McLemore, 63

Paul Douglas McLemore, age 63, of Winchester, Kentucky, formerly from Irvine, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018.
He was born on April 28, 1955 in Richmond, Kentucky, to Grace Chambers McLemore and the late Marvin (Gene) McLemore.
Mr. McLemore is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patti Haggard McLemore; one daughter, Shawna McLemore Lucas (Darrell); one son, Paul Douglas McLemore II (Mary Ellen); and his five precious grandchildren, Mason Tyler McLemore, Lilly Anna McLemore, Shelby Elizabeth Lucas, Jaxon Scott Lucas and Kimbrell Rose McLemore, whom he adored; one brother, David McLemore (Linda); one sister, Jeanne Crowe (Dallis); and several nieces and nephews.
He was a part time farmer and owner of PM Tax Service in Winchester. He was the chairman of Glen Eden Youth Center in Beattyville, where he carried on the passion and labor of love as his grandfather, John Rose Chambers, and his father, Gene McLemore, had before him.
Visitation was from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester. Services were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, at the funeral home by Pastors James H. Mooney and Jesse Kline. Burial was at Glen Eden Youth Center in Beattyville.
Pallbearers were Chad Haggard, Dallis Wayne Crowe II, Darrell Lucas, Mason McLemore, Paul D. McLemore II, Daniel Sparks, Logan Winburn and Roger Carraway.
Honorary pallbearers were friends of Glen Eden Youth Center.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Glen Eden Youth Center, 2150 Mina Station Road, Winchester, KY 40391.
Joyce Embs,78
Joyce L. Stanley Embs, age 78, passed away Tuesday, December 4. 2018 at her home.
She was born November 26, 1940 in Estill County, to the late Evelyn (Goe) and Lloyd Stanley. After high school she served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. She retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot in 1993 and also worked as a nurses aide for Darby Square Nursing Home in Lexington for seven years.
Ms. Embs is survived by her sisters: Shirley Wehmer of Austin, Texas; Maxine Livingston of Davie, Florida; and Virginia Fulton, Winchester; and a brother, Wayne Stanley, Lexington.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Delbert Embs.
Memorial services were held Friday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m. at Rolan G Taylor Funeral Home, 286 South Main Street, Winchester, with Diandre Hensley presiding. Visitation was from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

Jennifer Sue “Jenny” Collier McBrayer, 43

Jennifer Sue “Jenny” Collier McBrayer, age 43, wife of Blake McBrayer, passed away on Thursday, December 6th, 2018.
She was born October 13, 1975 in Estill County, Kentucky, daughter of Mahala “Mae” (Scarberry) Collier and the late Terry Collier. Jennifer was a Team Leader for Toyota Logistics Services. She loved to spend time with her family and pets any chance she could.
In addition to her husband, Jennifer is survived by her two daughters, Holly Janelle Howard (Tyler) and Kendra Blake McBrayer; three sisters, Shaula Ann Collier, Dianna K. Kuchar and Katernia L. Crain; three brothers, Terry Douglas Collier Jr. (Lisa), Robert Kuchar and Joseph A. Kuchar; her grandson, Caleb Howard; and her beloved pets, Dexter and DiDi.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 10th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home, 641 South Broadway, Georgetown, and then on Tuesday, December 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home in Irvine. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home followed by burial at Fielders Cemetery with Steven Willis and J.R. Ross officiating.
Jesse Ashcraft, 80
Jesse Ashcraft, age 80, widower of Delita Bee Ashcraft, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in Bardstown, Kentucky.
He was a native of Estill County, a son of the late Flemon and Mattie Issac Ashcraft. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and old time Bluegrass music.
Mr. Ashcraft was preceded in death by his sons, Allen Ashcraft and Jesse Ashcraft Jr.; and his brother, Jimmy Ashcraft.
Survivors include his daughter, Alma Missy Simpson (John); his brother, Charlie Ashcraft; his sisters: Dorothy Dunaway, Loutrish Stargel (J.D.), and Hazel Fredrick (James); and several grandchildren.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Greg Humpert officiating. Burial followed in the Hoover Cemetery.
Dana Elizabeth Spencer, 47

Dana Elizabeth Wolfinbarger Spencer, age 47, of Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her parents' home in Irvine.
She was born March 20, 1971, in Irvine, a daughter to James Wolfinbarger and Connie (Farmer) Wolfinbarger. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and her beloved dog.
Along with her parents, James and Connie Wolfinbarger, she is survived by two sons: Keegan Spencer and Ryan Spencer (Jade Kline), both of Beattyville; one brother: Jim Ed Wolfinbarger of Beattyville; four grandchildren: Kaylin Spencer, Liam Spencer, Carinah Spencer, and Damien Spencer; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, 3450 Ky Hwy 11 North in Booneville. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Farmer officiating. She was laid to rest in the Farmer Cemetery located off KY-30 at Tyner in Jackson County.
Clifton Kelly Toler, 86
Clifton Kelly Toler, age 86, of Iron Works Road in Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018, at his home following a long illness.
He was born January 16, 1932 in Powell County and was the son of the late Green Berry and Geneva Young Toler. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the Winchester Nazarene Church. He had lived in Clark County most of his life.
Mr. Toler was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Juanita Snapp Toler.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Johnson (George), all of Winchester; three sisters: Laverne Adams (Robert), Norma Jones (Larry), and Dora Winburn (David), all of Winchester;
one brother, Warren Toler, Sr. (Elizabeth), Irvine; one grandchild, Kelly Miller (Kevin), and one great-grandchild, Lauren Rose Miller.
Mr. Toler was preceded in death by his son, Clifton Kelly Toler, Jr.; one sister, Margie Orvie Spencer; and two brothers: Shelby and John Toler.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 6, 10:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine, by Rev. Warren Toler, Sr. and Rev. Donald Wayne Hatton. Burial was at the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 5:30 and 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 5th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Warren Toler III, Brad Clem, Mark Jones, Johnathan Toler Jones, Lynn Toler Jr., Josh Toler and Cody Toler.
Honorary pallbearers were John Spencer, Milford Miller, Ernie Martin, Brad Berryman, Charles England, Dr. Joseph Ott and Albert Kirby.
