Carolyn West Marcum, 74
|
Carolyn West Marcum, 74, wife of Orville, passed away at her home Thursday evening, January 10, 2019.
She was a native of Estill County, born April 11, 1944, a daughter of the late Floyd and Lida Lou Walling West. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music.
Survivors, other than her husband of 56 years, Orville; include her children, Sherri Jenkins (Steve), Susan Harvey (Greg), and Bradley Dale Marcum; her sisters: Judy Raines (Ned), and Patsy Isaacs (Odell); her grandchildren: Justin Daniel Harvey, and Joshua Chase Harvey; and several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
Friends may call after 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 14th at the White Oak Church of God with Bro. Glendon Woosley officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunaway Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
Stevie Ray Plowman, 53
Stevie Ray Plowman, age 53, of Old Landing Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
He was born June 14, 1965 in Estill County and was the son of Helen Neal Plowman and the late John Plowman. He was a logger and lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Plowman is survived by his mother, Helen Neal Plowman, Estill County; three daughters: Ashley Plowman, Estill County; Helena Plowman, Nicholasville; and Rebecca Sanders, Richmond; two sons: Bobby Ray Charlton, Berea; and Stevie Ray Plowman Jr., Estill County; four brothers: Tim Plowman, Jerry Plowman, Ronnie Plowman and Wilson Plowman, all of Estill County; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Denver Plowman.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 11, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Campbell Cemetery. Friends may call between 6-9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Ronald McKinney, Tim Osborne, Stevie Plowman, John Plowman, Ron-Dene Plowman and James Coffey.
Honorary pallbearers were Jayden and Mason Plowman.
Jackie Turpin Sr. 70

Jackie Turpin Sr., age 70, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital.
He was born October 11, 1948 in Irvine to Elmo and Zelma Riddell Turpin. He was a brick mason and a member of the Pea Ridge Holiness Church.
Mr. Turpin is survived his wife, Mary Turpin of Irvine; a son, Jackie Turpin Jr. (Tangee) of Irvine; a daughter, Charlotte Riddell (Billy) of Irvine; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother, Elmo Wayne Turpin (Nancy) of Irvine; and two sisters: Virginia Stambaugh of Murray and Carolyn Dawes of Irvine.
He was preceded by his parents, Elmo and Zelma Turpin; a son, Mark Turpin; and two brothers, Robert and Jimmy Turpin.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, January 10, at the Pea Ridge Holiness Church in Irvine with Bro. John Gross officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. untill time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Dorothy Lee "Tipton" McIntosh, 93
Dorothy Lee "Tipton" McIntosh of Port Charlotte, Florida, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018. She was surrounded by her forever family on this earth as she made her journey to be with the ones who left before her.
She leaves behind her son, Jerry Eli McIntosh (Pat) of Port Charlotte, her daughter, Linda Sue McIntosh, also of Port Charlotte; and a son, Ernie Green (Linda) of Clarksville, Tennessee. She was also blessed to have grandchildren, Jerry Kenneth McIntosh and Jennifer Kay McIntosh Carstensen; great grandchildren, Justin Carstensen, Taylor Blake and Jordan McIntosh; and great, great grandchildren, Ava Rose and Rowan Grant Carstensen, and Taron McIntosh. Also, her brother, Omer Tipton Jr. of Ravenna. She had many nieces and nephews that at the young age of 93, she could hardly remember, but she knew them all by name in her heart. Also survived by her sweet sister-in-law, Dean Tipton, who called weekly from the first time they met.
She was preceded in death by her very special Pa & Ma Tipton as well as her parents, Omer and Ethel Jones Tipton, and brothers, Clarence and Melvin Tipton; our father, James McIntosh, who was the joy of her life; one son, Orville Green; a grandson, James Joshua Green; and her granddaughter, Tracy Ann McIntosh Reichard who was waiting as she always did for her kiss on her nose.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who helped her live a very healthy life for us to cherish.
Burial will be at a later date in Irvine, Kentucky, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and her most precious granddaughter, Tracy.
Family will be informed at a later date so all are welcome to come and celebrate our mother's life.

Bonnie Jean Thomas, 89
Bonnie Jean Thomas, age 89, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019.
She was born December 5, 1929 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late James and Mary Ellen Ginter Smyth. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Elkhorn Baptist Church. She had lived in Lexington most of her life.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Thomas.
She is survived by her son, Rory Dean Thomas (Bonnie), Lexington; one grandson; and two great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by five sisters: Susie Click, Everee Morris, Ruby Dixon, Beatrice Billings, and Dovie Yost; and nine brothers: Troy, Roy, Wagner, Gardner, Carl, Frank, Dewey, Jim and Jesse Smyth.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 8, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends call after 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jeff Ayres, John Otis, George Wysocki, Paul Bland, Steve Worrell and Donnie Harris.
Arthur Gene Ballard, 77

Arthur Gene Ballard, age 77, of South Winn Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at Baptist Health Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born September 29, 1941 in Estill County and was the son of Vicie Smyth Alcorn and the late Lonnie Ballard. He was a retired engineer with CSX Railroad and a member of the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene. He was a past president of the Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club and was a loyal supporter of Engineer Athletics.
Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Karen Muncie Ballard.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons: Arthur David Ballard (Shonna), and Randall Ballard, both of Estill County; and three grandchildren: Whitney O’Keefe (Cory), Machaela Ballard and Mariah Douglas (Tyler).
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 4, 1:00 p.m., at the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene by Rev. John Anderson and Rev. Warren Toler. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends call between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, January 3rd at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the Church.
Pallbearers were Cory O’Keefe, Tyler Douglas, Adam Walpole, Warren Toler, Jr., Beatle Lisle, Steven Gross, Jeff Horn and John Nutter
Honorary pallbearers were Phil Henry, Tom Henderson, Donald McIntosh, and the Locomotive Engineers, Conductors & Brakemen that he worked with in his over 40 years of railroading.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
Joyce M. Barnes, 88
Joyce M. Barnes, age 88, of Park Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Lee County Care & Rehabilitation Center in Beattyville.
She was born May 7, 1930 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Boone and Lou Ellen Hogan Dennis. She retired from Rite-Aid and was a member of the Irvine First Church of the Nazarene. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by one son, Donnie Barnes (Barbara), Estill County; one sister, Madge Eckler, Fayette County; one grandchild, Kim Horn (Mark); and three great grandchildren: McKenzie, Chase, and Cruz Horn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tandy Barnes; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, January 1, 11:00 a.m., at the Oakdale Cemetery by Donnie Watson.
Pallbearers were Donnie Barnes, Tojo Barnes, Russell Barnes, Earl Barnes, Chase Horn and Mark Horn.
Warren F. Toler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Marsha Ann Angel, 37

Marsha Ann Angel, age 37, wife of Dusty Angel, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at her home in Beattyville, Kentucky.
Marsha was born August 24, 1981 in Irvine, Kentucky, a daughter to Larry and Mary "Morris" Mayse. She was a homemaker, and in her free-time she enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and listening to Bluegrass music.
She is survived by her husband of four years, her parents; one son, Dylan Scott Mayse; two brothers: Brian Mayse (Jennifer) and Larry Mayse (Cindy), both of Beattyville; a sister and brothers-in-law: Maudie and Carl Sparks, and Jason Lykins, all of Beattyville; nieces and nephews: Corey Lykins, Tabitha Lykins, Harlan Mayse, Brian B. Mayse, River Mayse, and Caninen Mayse; along with many other loving family members and friends.
Marsha was preceded in death by her grandparents: Harlan Morris, Tilly Morris, Junice Mayse and Beulah Mayse; and her mother and father in law, Hattie and Moss Angel.
Visitation was held Friday, January 4, 2019 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, 3450 Ky Hwy 11 North, Booneville. Funeral services followed at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Willie Turner officiating. She was laid to rest in the Morris Family Cemetery located in the Spencer Ridge community of Beattyville.

Cathy Gray, age 59, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away at her residence Saturday, December 22, 2018.
She was born August 8, 1959 in Berea, Kentucky, to Wendell and Adel Hammond.
Mrs. Gray is survived by her husband, Richard Glenn Gray of Irvine; a son, Jeremiah Gray of Irvine; a daughter, Sarah Gray of Irvine; two grandchildren, Johnathan Gray and Heather Gray; a brother, Wayne Hammond of London; and a sister, Nancy Lovens of London.
No services are planned at this time.
Grayson Funeral Home of Clay City was in charge of arrangements.
