Rudolph Tipton Crowe, 75
Rudolph Tipton Crowe, age 75, of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born March 2, 1943 in Estill County and was the son of the late Daniel and Betty Ann Tipton Crowe. He was a retired vice-president with CMS and a 50-year member and Past Master of the Stafford Lodge. He was a farmer, a gun-and-knife collector, and a Kentucky Colonel. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Crowe is survived by his wife, LaDell Hall Crowe; two daughters: Elizabeth Griggs (Todd) and Melissa Snowden (Chad), both of Estill County; one son, Jeffrey Crowe (Shannon Todd Finley), Laurel County; one sister, Janette Dixon, Estill County; three brothers: Shelby Crowe, Esco Crowe, both of Estill County; and Dallis Crowe, Clark County; and six grandchildren: Jakolbi Crowe, Brayden Griggs, Callee Snowden, Mason Griggs, Jaxon Snowden and Jessup Chaney.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Dixon and Imogene Crowe.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 6, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, February 5th at the funeral home.
Wendy Nicole Green, 32

Wendy Nicole Green age 32 of Georgetown, Kentucky, formerly of Magoffin County and Estill County, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her home.
She was born May 23, 1986 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Donnie Green and Jacqueline Highley, who survive.
Survivors also include two sons, William Kyle Rayfields and Jonathan Johnson; two daughters, Haley Nicole McPherson and Zoey Opal Anita Hurley; and two brothers, Donnie Ray Green Jr. and Ramsey Kaden Green, both of Winchester, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel, 900 Parkway Drive in Salyersville. Burial will follow in the Leonard Risner Cemetery at Johnson Fork, Kentucky. Friends visited the funeral home after 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019 and anytime Wednesday prior to funeral services.
Neal Shannon “Banjo Man” James II, 55

Neal Shannon “Banjo Man” James II, age 55, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 in Willisburg.
Born August 10, 1963 in Stanford, to the late Neal James and Nancy Poynter James, Neal was a graduate of Lincoln County High School, a former employee of ATR Inc., and a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a songwriter/musician that led him to become a member of BMI, the largest music rights group in the United States.
He co-starred on “Call of the Wildman” with Ernie Brown Jr., also known as “Turtleman”; which aired for four seasons on Animal Planet, making him a local and national celebrity. His down to earth and easy going personality made him a fan favorite. Because of Neal’s kind heart and love of serving the Lord, he volunteered a lot of his time mentoring and helping at Isaiah House in Willisburg. His favorite saying was, “Jesus Rocks”!
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Pearson James; two sons, Kenny James (Brooke) of Virginia, and Ronnie Isaacs II (Stephanie) of Irvine; two daughters, Sara McBride (Adam) of Harrodsburg, and Victoria Miller (Justin) of Stanford; two sisters, Carol Bell and Janice Tillett (Ron), both of Stanford; and nine grandchildren, Josie Luttman, Chloe Miller, Isabella Miller, Justin Luttman, Leyna McBride, Joshua McBride, Elizabeth McBride, Benjamin James, and Jacob James.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Lee James; a granddaughter, Laura Shannon James; one niece, Tami Owens; and a special brother-in-law, Joe Bell.
Visitation was held Monday, February 4, 2019 at Lincoln County High School Stuart Underwood Auditorium from 5-9 p.m. A private funeral service and interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given or mailed to Spurlin Funeral Home (411 W. Main Street, Stanford, KY 40484) as donations to help the family with funeral expenses.
Harmon Eugene Witt, 88

Harmon Eugene "Gene" Witt, age 88, husband of the late Cathy Witt, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Versailles, Kentucky.
He was born in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Stella Witt on March 10, 1930. Mr. Witt worked at IBM, Clark Equipment, and the city of Richmond. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond and attended Jessamine Christian Church. He was a professional musician who started playing the piano at the age of three. He loved his Lord, his family and music.
Mr. Witt is survived by his son, Doug Osborne (Wanda); a daughter, Sheree Boston (Gary); seven grandchildren: Ian Osborne, Erin Muessig (Travis), Amy Johnson (Brett), Jessica McKenney (Chuck), Adrienne Johnston (Ian), Robby Boston, and Zachary Boston; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Witt of Irvine.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mike Osborne; two sisters, Opal Witt and Alma Witt; and four brothers, Chester Witt, Kenneth Witt, Estill Witt and Frank Witt.
Visitation and reception was held from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019, with a service following at Clark Legacy Center, 601 East Brannon Road, Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville. Burial was at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers were Ian Osborne, Robby Boston, Zachary Boston, Chuck McKenney, Ian Johnston, Travis Muessig and Brett Johnson.
Sara Alene Neal, 90

Sara Alene Neal, age 90, of Barnes Mountain Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home following a short illness.
She was born January 13, 1929 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Enoch and Ida Mae Crowe Stamper. She was a retired Sylvania employee and a member of the Hargett Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd J. Neal and Gerald Sparks.
She is survived by three daughters: Rhonda Tate (Darrell), Charlene Sparks (Charles), both of Madison County; and Patty Embs (Ray), Estill County; two sons: Scotty Neal (Donna) and Larry Neal (Brenda), both of Estill County; one stepson: Ricky Sparks (Brenda), Estill County; one sister: Anna Margaret Davis, Estill County; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Delberta Ingram and Velma Allen; three brothers: Junior, Jess and Virgil Stamper; and one grandchild, Stephen Sparks.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 1, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Chaney and Bro. Billy Stamper. Burial was at the Campbell Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Thursday, January 31st at the funeral home.
Joyce Kay Willis Powell, 76

Joyce Kay Willis Powell, age 76, widow of the late Amos Powell, passed away Tuesday January 29, 2019 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born March 17, 1942 in Estill County, Kentucky, to the late John and Maggie Carpenter Willis. She worked in housekeeping and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Powell is survived one son, Chris Powell (Irene) of Richmond; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Gail Powell; five brothers: Harry Willis, Carmon Willis, Wesley Willis, Tommy Willis, and Lermon Willis; two sisters: Sue Dixon and Ruby Willis, four grandchildren: Ashley Worsham, Tyler Powell, Charles Powell, and Clayton Powell; and two great grandchildren: Austin Worsham and Sadie Worsham.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Powell and Harold Edward Powell; one daughter, Donna Powell; and one brother, Elmer Willis.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Davis & Powell Funeral Directors, 616 Chestnut Street, Berea, with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Burial followed at the Silver Creek Cemetery, Gabbardtown Road in Berea. Visitation was held 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 1st at the funeral home.

Janet Lee Richardson, 72

Janet Lee Richardson, age 72, of Barnes Mountain Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home following a long illness.
She was born September 17, 1946 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Flossie Plowman Harris. She owned Janet’s Hair Spot and served on the National Board of Hairdressers. She was a master craftsman and a member of the Baptist faith. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Richardson; two daughters: Kendra Resha Tallent (Eddie), Albany, Kentucky; and Karen Renae Puckett (Roger), Irvine; two sons: Donald Lee Richardson II, Irvine; and Leslie Kyle Richardson (Deborah), Georgetown; and eight grandchildren: Tyler Cox, Joshua Richardson, Elayna Cox, Josiah Miller, Andrew Richardson, Jameson Miller, Ben Tallent and Sawyer Tallent.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Cox; and two brothers, Billy and Freddie Harris.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Mark Pearson. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Donald Edwin Arthur, 85

Donald Edwin Arthur, age 85, of Waco, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019.
He was a native of Irvine, born June 26, 1933, to the late Ben and Velma (Smith) Arthur. Donald was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan with over thirty years of service and many great friendships.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Flannery Arthur; a brother, Orville Arthur, and a sister Bonnie Arthur.
He is survived by one daughter, Teresa VanWinkle (Roy), three grandchildren, Tommy, Steven and Cynthia Goosey; one brother, Wendell Arthur; and a special niece, Tammy Hill.

Charles Nelson Hammons, 83
Charles Nelson Hammons, age 83, widower of Arlene Ashcraft Hammons, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was a native of Artmise, Kentucky, born October 30, 1935, the son of the late Edward and May Fortney Hammons. He was United States Navy veteran, a farmer, a retired truck driver, and a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Chuck and Danny Hammons; his brothers, Junior, Stanley, Hugh, Jimmy, and D.B.; and his sister, Cora Lee Smith.
Survivors include his son, Rob Alan Hammons; his grandson, Frank Hammons; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31st at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Robert Boyd officiating. Burial followed at the Hammons Family Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Thomas Paine Knecht, 65
Thomas Paine Knecht, 65, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.
Thomas was a native of Oneida, New York, born December 3, 1953, a son of the late Louis F. and Helen Smith Knecht, and was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He formerly worked in the security industry. Thomas enjoyed music, and collecting music memorabilia. He donated some of his collection to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. He had a lifetime subscription to Rolling Stone Magazine. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy. He was a loving son, and assumed the role of caretaker for his mother in her later years.
Survivors include his brothers: Phil (Jude) of Lexington, and Louis Jr. (Carol) of Jericho, New York; his sister, Peggy Sue Minton; and his nieces and nephews and cousins.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30th at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Fielder Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Harold Dean Stoll, 84
Harold Dean Stoll, age 84, of Moberly Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
He was born June 4, 1934 in Hillsdale, Michigan and was the son of the late Marvin and Viola Reader Stoll. He was a retired Petty Officer with the United States Navy and a former United States Postal worker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond.
Mr. Stoll is survived by his wife, Judith Hall Stoll; one daughter, Shawna Leiva (Tim), Madison County; one son, Stephen Stoll, Florida; two step-daughters: Deborah Anderson (Brian), Florida; and Ronda Raines (Tom); one step-son: Ric Randolph (Sharon); one sister: Ladonna Ferdon, Michigan; and two step-grandchildren: Abigail and Jameson Raines.
He was preceded in death by one step-son, David Dettmer; and three siblings: Betty Shaver, Paul Stoll and Dallas Stoll.

Marvin Scott Owens, 53
Marvin Scott Owens, age 53, Irvine Road, Winchester, Kentucky, husband of Sandra Gibson Owens, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Clark Regional Medical Center.
He was born on October 1, 1965 in Vallejo, California to Deloras Cummings Owens and the late Theron Owens Sr. He was a retired IT Support for Onstar operations. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Epperson First Church of God.
In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Jeff Overton (Sarah); two brothers: Theron Kay Owens Jr. and Michael Owens; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of His Life was conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, at the Epperson First Church of God, 14475 Irvine Road, Winchester, by Pastor Chris Williams.
Visitation was held Saturday, 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at the church.

Betty Louise Wilson, age 89, of Drowning Creek Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
She was born October 28, 1929 in Estill County to the late Jim and Dovie Marcum Stone. She was a homemaker and was the oldest living member of the Providence Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by one daughter, Judy Chrisman (Jimmy), Estill County; one son, Jimmy Wilson (Betty), Estill County; six grandchildren: Greg Chrisman (Lisa), Chad Chrisman (Chrystal), Jamie Witt (Brenda), Rhonda Turner, Keith Turner (RaNae); and her name sake, Jessica Louise Wilson (Joe); 12 great grandchildren: Douglas Chrisman, Casey Covey, Derrick Chrisman, Destiny Chrisman, Zack Chrisman, Alyssa Chrisman, Joy Hamilton, Brittany, Ryan, Cody, Eric, and Destiny; six great, great grandchildren: Jaxon, Cloe, Kinsley, Lainey, Waylon, and Sadie Jane; and a very special nephew, Larry McMaine (Chris).
She was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Wilson; one sister, Bernice McMaine; and one grandchild, Jeff Chrisman.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 26, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bill VanWinkle and Bro. Tim Roberts. Burial followed in the Turpin Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home

Gloria F. Spicer Wiseman, 90
Gloria F. Spicer Wiseman, 90, wife of the late James L. Wiseman, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her home.
She was born in Lee County, Kentucky, on August 1, 1928 to the late Chester A. and Bruce Flynn Spicer. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Irvine, and Covenant Church of Winchester.
Survivors include four children, Bill Wiseman, Bonny Barker (Kenneth), Jim Wiseman and Mary Brashear; six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Robbins; two brothers, Chester Spicer, Jr. and William “Bud” Spicer; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Lloyd Wiseman.
Services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, by Pastor Steve Humble. Burial was in Winchester Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, January 28, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at funeral home.

Buford Ray Reed, 59
Buford Ray Reed, age 59, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away at his residence Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was a construction worker.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wada of Virginia; three brothers: William Reed (Kathy), Donald Reed (Iva), both of Winchester; and Daniel Reed (Tonia) of Clay City; and a sister, Johnnetta Hunt of Lexington.
Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Reed; and a brother, Bencil Reed.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
