Melvin Lee Williams, 80
|
Melvin Lee Williams, age 80, of Cedar Grove Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born April 29, 1938 in Estill County and was the son of the late Amos Lee and Vina Puckett Williams. He served in the United States Army National Guard and was a retired United States Postal Service employee. He was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church and the Twin Kruzerz. He was a retired member of the 4-H Council and the Estill County Fair Board. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Terry Lynn Hunt Williams; two daughters: Leah Williams, Estill County; and Cindy Garcia (Jose), Texas; two sons: Christopher Lee Williams, Estill County; and Jeff Pearson (Sharon), Madison County; two sisters: Bobbie Jean Johnson, Lee County; and Glenda June Wiseman, Estill County; one brother, Ernest Wayne Griffin, Madison County; and eight grandchildren: Jason Williams (Brittany), Lona Kate Williams, Mason Lee Williams, Jacob Alexander Williams, Juniper Good, Zaylah Good, Caden Pearson and Lily Brooke Pearson.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Williams; five sisters: Dorothy Williams, Marcella Cooper, Sarilda Mae Ross, Edith Faye Dozier, and Roxie Roundtree; and one brother, Amos “Bud” Williams.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 11:00 a.m., at the Rice Station Christian Church by Bro. Joe Hall and Bro. Matt Vaught. Burial will be at the Thomas Williams Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 19th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church.
Mary Frances Miles Townsend, 76
Mary Frances Miles Townsend, age 76, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky, after a sudden illness.
She was a native of Huntsville Alabama, born December 3, 1942, a daughter of the late Rosie Woodof Brown, and the late John Miles. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo, sewing, crochet and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her companion of 57 years, James R. Townsend; her mother, Rosie; her step-father, Wilbur Brown; her father John Miles; her brother, David Miles; and a grandson, Michael Townsend.
Survivors include her children: Cassius E. Townsend, James E. Townsend, Johnny R. Townsend (Amy), Joe Townsend, Connie W. Estes (Jacob), and Dorothy Walling (Henry Knight); her sisters, Connie Powell (Mike) and Dorothy Gambrell (Carl); her grandchildren: Victoria Townsend, Logan Townsend, Clayton Mays, Melissa Townsend, Marlena Richardson, Latasha Alexander, Leighann Alexander, Gloria Bingham, Chris Hoover, Josh Walling, Lester Lee Richardson, Tony Malicol, Tiffany, Carly Townsend, Corey Townsend, and Ethan Townsend; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Friends may call anytime after 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Townsend, Joe Townsend, Johnny Townsend, Chris Hoover, Clayton Mays, and Logan Townsend.
Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Walling.
Thomas Glenn Tipton, 48

Thomas Glenn Tipton, age 48, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
He was born November 12, 1970 in Irvine to John Paul and Katie Tipton Jones. He did drywall work.
Mr. Tipton is survived by his mother, Katie Jones of Irvine; and a sister, Myrtie Booth of Irvine.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Paul Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City, with Bro. Phillip Smith officiating. Friends may visit Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jones-Tipton Cemetery in Irvine.
Carol Jean Alcorn, 70

Carol Jean Alcorn, age 70, of Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Baptist Health in Lexington, following a short illness.
She was born November 25, 1948 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Edward and Mahala Frances McKinney Newman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Estill County 4H Council. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Alcorn is survived by her husband, Harold Jay Alcorn; three daughters: Kathy Samples (Paul), Lee County; Phyllis Alcorn (Mickie), Estill County; and Kim Smith (Mark), Powell County; one son: Andy Alcorn (Carole), Estill County; two sisters: Brenda Neal (Danny) and Pam Barnes, both of Estill County; one brother, Danny Newman (Lonna), Estill County; one grandchild, Remington Jay Alcorn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Vickie and Ruby Newman; and one brother, Harold Newman.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 18, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Alexander Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, March 17th at the funeral home.
Carlos Farrell “Artie” Horn, 65

Carlos Farrell “Artie” Horn, son of the late Melvin June and Anna Louise Tipton Horn was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 20, 1953 and departed this life in Winchester, Kentucky on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 65 years, 6 months, and 22 days. He was a coal truck driver by trade.
Artie is survived by his two daughters, Tina Carter of Smithfield and Trina Horn of Irvine; his girlfriend, Mary Mays of Beattyville; one brother, Kenes Horn of Maysville; one sister, Michelle Coomer of Beattyville; five grandchildren, Alexandria and Lorelai Lee, Rose-Erin Phillips, and Nicholas and Jordan Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Sheila Horn and Margie Shuler.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019, 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Center Street in Beattyville. Interment will be at the Beatty Place Cemetery, New Yellow Rock Road in Beattyville.

Larry Lee Wolf, Jr., age 61, of Edgewater Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019, at his home following a long illness.
He was born December 23, 1957 in Hamilton, Ohio and was the son of Larry Lee and Roxie Newkirk Wolf. He was retired from the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the West Irvine Church of Christ.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Donna Baker Wolf; one daughter, Brandi Farthing (Paul Descoteaux), Irvine; one son, Jimmy Ray Farthing (April), Irvine; one sister, Lisa Carol Doran (John), Fairfield, Ohio; three brothers: Ricky Wayne Wolf, Jonathon James Wolf, and Jeffrey Lane Wolf, all of Hamilton, Ohio; one grandchild, Kyra Farthing; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 17, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bob Casey. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Rick Wolf, Johnny Wolf, Ken Baker, Paul Descoteaux, Chris Goosey, John Doran and Jimmy Farthing.
Robert Lindbergh Wiseman II, 57

Robert Lindbergh Wiseman II, age 57, of Fifth Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at his home following a long illness.
He was born February 14, 1962 in Estill County and was the son of the late Robert Lindbergh and Carlene Durbin Wiseman. He was a retired Clay Ingels employee and a member of the Ravenna Nazarene Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Wiseman is survived by his wife, Camera Cunningham Wiseman; two sons: Trey Wiseman and Hank Wiseman, both of Madison County; three sisters: Jo Anna Smith, Margaret Wood (Danny), both of Estill County; and Linda White, Arkansas; two brothers: Billy Bruce Wiseman (Jennifer), Estill County; and Bobby Jack Gross (Geraldine), Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Wiseman.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 16, 1:00 p.m., at the Ravenna Nazarene Church by Bro. Bob Mills, Bro. Warren Toler and Bro. John Anderson. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, March 15th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 12:00 Noon, Saturday, at the Church.
Pallbearers were Bobby Gross, Joshua Gross, Brent Gross, Jonothan White, Randy Smith, Nick Wiseman, Joe Wiseman and Terry Arvin.

Billie Cornelison Scrivner, 91, Irvine, Kentucky, widow of Harold, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was a native of Estill County, born July 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Ben and Katherine Tipton Cornelison. She was a retired social worker, a member of the First Christian Church, First Christian Church Official Board, Marcum and Wallace Foundation Board and Auxiliary, NARFE Winchester Chapter 1828.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Scrivner; and a son, Glenn Scrivner.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2019, at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Bro. Greg Humpert officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call anytime after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14th at the funeral home.

Leslie Pardee “Bonfire” Ellis, 87
Leslie Pardee “Bonfire” Ellis, age 87, passed away in his home in Delaware, Ohio, on Sunday, March 10, 2019.
He was born in Lorain, Ohio; the son of the late Walter Ellis and Lydia (McCalla). In his life he enjoyed, camping, fishing, and hunting. He served in the United States Army and was a devout fan of Ohio State.
Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by one daughter, Wendy Carter; and one sister, Marilyn Leadbetter.
Survivors include his children: Cynthia Roberts of Irvine, Yvonne Barnett (Steve) of Ravenna, Daniel Ellis (Angela) of Trinity, Alabama; Carrie Ellis of Winchester, Kentucky; Leslie Ellis (Amy) of Coppell, Texas; and Erica Ellis of Ashley, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and sisters and a brother: Joyce Supers of Oberlin, Ohio; Barbara Ward of Vermillion, Ohio; Harold Ellis (Barbara) of South Amherst, Ohio; Geraldine McClary of Oro Valley, Arizona; and Lorna Ellis of Pasadena, Texas.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019, until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals, 224 Main Street in Irvine.

Josie Logan Eversole, 25, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, following a short illness.
She was born, September 7, 1993, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, to Blaine Eversole and Joyce Begley.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her daughter, Aubree Faith Eversole, Grant County; one grandfather, Andrew Begley, Estill County; one sister, Jessica Blaine Eversole, Madison County; two half-sisters, Tina Harrington, Kenton County; and Sandy Eversole, Estill County; one half-brother, Shane Eversole, Estill County; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss her so very much.
Josie was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ida Mae Begley; her paternal grandparents, Louis and Ethel Eversole; and a half-brother, Rodney Eversole.
A visitation for close friends and family will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Rev. Tony Marshall officiating.

James Wayne "Jimmy" Cole, 73
James Wayne "Jimmy" Cole, age 73, Stump Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond following a long illness.
He was born January 25, 1946 in Estill County to the late Burton and Alice Raider Cole. He was a retired carpenter for Denham and Blythe Company. He was a member of the Outreach Church and former member of the Estill County Golf Club. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Cole is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Faye McDonald Cole, Estill County; one daughter, Jamie Cole, Madison County; two sons: Jody Cole (Ginetta), Indiana; and Jason Cole, Madison County; four sisters: Jewell Sons, Sue Manious, both of Estill County; Ruby Reagan, Tennessee; and Wanda Ingram, Louisville; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Burton Cole Jr.; and one sister, Nettie Jo Sternson.

Brenda Ann Rogers, age 74, of Stanton, Kentucky, wife of Cebert S. Rogers, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born September 14, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Lemray J. and Ruth Whisman Martin.
Survivors include, husband, Cebert S. Rogers; brother, Daniel W. Martin (Barbara); and a sister, Freda Shoemaker, Richmond.

Judith Ann Finney Adams, age 77, widow of David Jennings Adams, passed away after a long illness on Monday, March 4, 2019 in Georgetown, Kentucky. She was born January 25, 1942, and was retired from Westinghouse Phillips Lighting in Richmond.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her father and mother, Chester and Hazel Finney; her daughters: Sherry Lynn Adams and Lisa Beth Adams Glasson; her sister, Nancy Carol Lester; and her brothers: Gerald Lewis Finney and Gregory Lynn Finney.
Survivors include her daughters: Amanda Lynn Adams and Carolyn Ann Adams, both of Georgetown; her sons: Mark Anthony Adams and Matthew Adams (Ashley), both of Irvine; her sisters: Marilyn Bryant (Lloyd) of Georgia, Deborah Jordan (Donald), and Lola Finney, both of Irvine; her brother, Robert Finney (Kathy) of Ohio; her grandchildren: David Adams (Rebecca), Andrew Adams, Jon Adams, Robbie Glasson (Monica), Katie Glasson, Aadin Mullins; Dylan, Allison, and Ava Parker Adams; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

It is with great sadness that the family of Beverly Moore announces his home going on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 74, at his home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Formerly a resident of South Irvine, Kentucky, he was born November 29,1944 in Estill County, the son of Hood and Vera Miller Moore. He retired from the United Parcel Service.
Bev will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Hilda; and his step-son, David Minor (Michelle). He will be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Joey (Krista), Candice, Christina (David), William, Richard, Makayla, and Logan; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Mae and Mary Edith; one brother, Troy; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hood and Vera Moore and one step-daughter, Debbie Samples.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2019, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Pastor Tommy Morrow of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Lexington. Visitation was 5-8 p.m., Thursday, February 28th at the funeral home.
