Robert Horn

    Robert Horn, age 86 of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
    He was born in Chestnut Stand, Kentucky on August 2, 1932, the son of Troy and Eliza Henry Horn. Robert was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Hamilton for more than thirty years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Hugh L. Bates Masonic Lodge. In 1954 in Indiana he married Opal “Christine” Embry.
    He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Opal “Christine” Horn; three children, Sandra Horn-Mack (Charles); Lori Buns (Edward), and David Horn; one sister, Della Dawes (Pete); seven grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Benjamin, and Samuel Mack; Rachel LaFonteese (David), Molly Sexton (Andy) and Abby Raney (Emmy); two great grandchildren, Noah and Savannah LaFonteese; and numerous other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Albert, Cleophus, Harlan Billy, Issac; and Ethel Horn, Beulah Rawlins, Leore Moreland and Ruth Webb.
    Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home, 99 Cedar Grove Road, Irvine, Kentucky. Funeral service will be held at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Irvine Cemetery.

Harold Douglas Wiseman

    Harold Douglas Wiseman, age 86, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, May 31, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief and faith in God supported him in his life and enabled him to be a witness for Jesus until his last breath. He died knowing that his life will continue in glory through the grace of Jesus Christ.
    Harold was born to the late Grover and Annie Eliza (Rawlins) Wiseman, in Irvine, Kentucky, on January 3, 1933.
    He is survived by his wife, Lois Anne (Long) Wiseman; their only child, Joanna Jernigan; two grandsons, Christopher Walters and Hunter Richardson; one great grandson; his sister, Elizabeth Wiseman Dixon; two brothers-in law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Mr. Wiseman is preceded in death by his brother, Doyle Wiseman and his parents.
    He attended Irvine High School and joined the Army in 1953. Harold spent two years on active duty in Germany and continued his service in the Army Reserve until 1961. Harold married his partner in life, Lois Anne Long in 1955. Harold was the lock and dam master on the Kentucky River in Estill and Lee County and later started Harold’s Super Lube in Irvine from which he retired.
    Harold loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He took his daughter and grandsons on fishing trips at every opportunity. He was soft-spoken and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem; no matter how small. Harold loved going to church and attended the Irvine First Church of God. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
    Visitation with the family is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the First Church of God on Broadway in Irvine. Eric Patrick will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harold’s life..

Kenny Rawlins, 61

    Kenny Rawlins, age 61, of Sweet Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home following a long illness.
    He was born November 9, 1957 in Madison County to Evelyn Samples Rawlins and the late Edward Rawlins. He was a truck driver for Hardy Oil and attended the Body of Christ Ministries. He lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Rawlins was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Muncy Rawlins.
    He is survived by his Mother, Evelyn Samples Rawlins, Estill County; two sisters: Pam Isaacs (Russell) and Laura Ann Rogers (Fred), both of Estill County; one brother, Gary Rawlins (Lisa), Estill County; a special great niece, Jassmine Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his special son, Jonathan Tyler Rawlins; and his twin brother, Denny Rawlins.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 4, 6-9 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. A graveside service at the West Irvine Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Develia Horn Conner, 89

    Develia Horn Conner, age 89, widow of Andrew Conner, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Richmond, Kentucky.
    She was born on April 12, 1930 in Estill County to the late Sylvester and Cynthia Anne Plowman Horn. She was a retired production worker at Westinghouse. She was a member of the Church of God Cathedral and had recently been attending the Church on the Rock in Berea.
    Mrs. Conner is survived by one son, Donnie Andrew Conner (Alice); one brother, Willie Horn; two sisters: Louise Culton and Bernice Marcum; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death two sons, Michael Conner and Ronnie Conner; two daughters, Connie Lynn Fields and Connie Ruth Conner; four brothers, Farris, Carley, Odus and Elva Horn; and two sisters, Mafrey Dunn and Marie Horn.
    Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, by Reverend Mark Saver. Burial will follow in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

    Billy Ray Blythe, 71, widower of Judy Rupard Blythe, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
    He was born October 18, 1947 in Furnace, Kentucky to the late Omer and Hildirth Hall Blythe.
    Survivors include, a special son, Robert Tipton; a sister, Alma Caldwell; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Perry Jr, Kaitlyn Perry and Justin Perry; and many nieces, and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Blythe; a son, Jeffrey Scott Perry Sr.; a daughter, Kymberly Lynn Blythe; four sisters, Florence Baber, Nanny Holland, Thelma Gay McVey and Eva Rae Richardson; and two brothers, Jim Blythe and Shelby Blythe.
    Services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 12:00 Noon, at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Kenny Wasson. Visitation is on Monday, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery with Jeffrey Perry, Justin Perry Aaron Caldwell, Phillip Blythe, Ronnie Elliott, and Henry Chandler serving as pallbearers.

    Martha Lee Lynch, age 70, of Walton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born April 15, 1949 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Edward and Edna Campbell Plowman. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to the Horizon Daycare Center. She attended the Crystal Holiness Church and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Eugene Lynch.
    She is survived by one daughter, Thelma Hamm (Greg) Estill County; four sons: Sherman Ray Lynch, William Edward Lynch, Harm Eugene Lynch (Susan), and Henry Wayne Lynch, all of Estill County; two sisters: Thelma Embry, Estill County; and Rhoda East, McCracken County; one brother: Troy Campbell, Fayette County; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by one daughter, Trisha Ann Lynch; one sister, Ann Lee Campbell; three brothers: Eugene, Earl and Edward “Ozzie” Campbell; and one grandchild.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 3, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose and Bro. Paul Luster. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

    Lawrence Edward Hughes, age 70, of Main Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at his home following a sudden illness.
    He was born March 23, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late Ernest Ralph and Patience Alice Reed Hughes. He was a former Rockwell employee and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Marsha White Bonny Hughes; one son, Eddie Hughes (Amy), Irvine; one stepson, Lee Winkle; one brother, Thomas Eugene Hughes, Irvine; and one grandson, Luke Hughes.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Leon Hughes.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 1, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, May 31st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Military rites were provided by the American Legion Post 79.

    Floyd “Tony” Miller, age 55, of Pryse Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born March 15, 1964 in Estill County and was the son of Blanche Rison Miller and the late Floyd Miller. He was a truck driver with Bishop Oil and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Delisa Hardy Miller; three sons: Christopher Miller (Brittany), Joshua Miller (Tonya), and Dustin Miller (Marquita), all of Estill County; one sister, Lou Ann Hall (Darrell), Estill County; one brother, Earl Glenn Miller (Carolyn), Garrard County; one grandchild, Emilia Miller; special nephews: Greg Kirby and Randall Tipton; and a special niece, Tera Hardy.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Miller.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ned Byers and Clarence Rison. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 29th at the funeral home.

Kenneth Ray Rison

    Kenneth Ray Rison, age 72, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his residence.
    He was born February 9, 1947 in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Samuel "Buck" Rison and Galena Watson Rison. Kenneth was a fun-loving, nurturing husband and father. He was a simple man with a great personality and good sense of humor. He loved to make others laugh and enjoyed every day. He was a long-time Lions Club member and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Owingsville First Church of God and the Northside Church of God. Kenneth was also a former small business owner. He coached youth sports, church softball and was an avid sports fan. He was greatly loved by his daughters and grandchildren. His fun-loving personality and smile will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
    Mr. Rison is survived by his daughters, Robyn Chapman (Derek) of Proctorville, Ohio; and Jennifer Sexton (Jason) of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; one sister, Anna Wysong of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jack Chapman, Max Chapman, Jadon Bargo and Christian Sexton; and special friends, Gracie Lucas and Larry and Susan Hamlin.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Terry Rison; four brothers, Estill Rison, James Rison, Bobby Rison and Leslie Rison; and one sister, Naomi Tipton.
    Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Richardson Funeral Home, 121 East Main Street, Owingsville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following in the Owingsville Cemetery. Reverend Lowell Rice and Reverend Kenny Crouch will be officiating.

    Geraldine Chaney Tipton, 91, of Brookville, Ohio; passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
    She was born August 31, 1927 in Estill County, Kentucky, and was retired from Leland Electric.
    Mrs. Tipton is survived by her children: Dovey Kindred, Brenda Hutzel, both of Union, Ohio; Bill Tipton of Dayton, Ohio; and Jean Vance (Kenny) of Eaton, Ohio; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren; one brother: Algin Chanie (Leda) of Maryland; one sister: Viola Watson (Audra) of Trotwood, Ohio; and very special friend, Judy Love.
    She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Bevlie Tipton; one daughter, Beverly Alice; and parents, Melvin and Dovey Chaney.
    Per Geraldine’s wishes, burial will be private at Trissel Cemetery in New Lebanon, Ohio.

    Sandra Lynn Herald, age 62, of Meadowlark Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center.
    She was born March 6, 1957 in Spencer, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Commadore and Eloise Marie Argabrite Blosser. She was a former employee of the St. Joseph Hospital.
    Mrs. Herald was preceded in death by her husband, William Herald.
    She is survived by her son, William Cody Herald and girlfriend, Elizabeth Walton, of Irvine; one grandchild, Alexander Creed Herald; five sisters: Linda Miller, Pamela Blosser, Elizabeth Seabolt, Anita Simms, andf Teresa Blosser; and four brothers: Michael Blosser, Stoney Blosser, Bryant Blosser, and Anthony Blosser.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Tamra Pickens.

    Elizabeth Lou Willis, age 71, of Jenkins Branch Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    She was born February 18, 1948 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth Ann Bingham Jenkins. She was a retired teachers aide with the Estill County School System and a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Willis is survived by her husband, Harold Willis; one son, Jeff Jenkins (Betty), Irvine; one sister, Viola Babb, Irvine; one brother, Robert Jenkins, Nicholasville; four grandchildren: Connor Jenkins, James Mullins, Kari Mullins and Steven Rose; and one great grandchild, Jackson Mullins.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Johnson; and four brothers: Raymond, Tracy, James and Douglas Jenkins.

    Lila Sparks was born May 12, 1938 in Jackson County and departed this life Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at her residence in London, Kentucky, being 81 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Dora Brewer Davidson.
    She is survived by her husband, Dan Sparks of London; by her children, Daniel Kerby Jr. of Crab Orchard, Cecil Kerby of Berea, David Kerby (Reba) of McKee, Randall Kerby (Jessica) of Berea, Terry Kerby (Goldie Mae) of Berea, Margie Evans (Larry) of Tyner, Diana Simpson (Jeff) of McKee and Perry Kerby (Janet) of Paint Lick; and by the following step children, James Sparks (Brenda) of McKee, Jesse Sparks of Georgetown, Charlie Sparks (Marie) of McKee, Danny Sparks (Sherry) of Richmond, Indiana; Nancy Bowling (James) of Louisville and Mary Gabbard of Irvine. Lila was blessed with a host of grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and host of great, great grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by her daughter, Ester Baker; and by her siblings, William, Rudolph, Cecil, Luther, Ruth, Lizzie, Aida, Suda and Teen.

    Dwight Edward Arvin, age 75, of South Irvine Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born June 7, 1943 in Estill County to the late Elbert Ray Arvin and Lyda Mildred Walton Arvin. He was a retired farmer and served as the Estill County Judge Executive for two terms. He was a member of the O.D. Henderson Masonic Lodge and a member of the Crooked Creek Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Arvin is preceded in death by his wife, Diane Smithers Arvin.
    He is survived by two daughters: Jackie Thacker and Kyle McIntosh (Randy), both of Estill County; two sons: Buddy Arvin (Charlotte) and John Arvin, both of Estill County; one sister, Janet Sue Smith (Robert), Estill County; one brother, Donnie Arvin, Estill County; eight grandchildren: Meghan Arvin Mills (Jimmy), Tessla Arvin Dixon (Clinton), Lyda Rae Arvin, Pauline Thacker, Katie Thacker, JP Thacker, Elijah McIntosh and Kyran McIntosh; and four great grandchildren: Jace Mills, Rocky Mills, Heidi Dixon and Beau Dixon.
    He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Faye Arvin; one son, Dwight Dale Arvin; and one brother, Buddy Gene Arvin.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 24, 7:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tom Blackburn. Friends called between 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial was in the Winkler Cemetery.

J.B. Brandenburg, 92

    J.B. Brandenburg, widower of Myrtle Lorene Cole Brandenburg and the son of the late Walker and Edna Charles Brandenburg was born in Lee County, Kentucky on June 5, 1926 and departed this life in Beattyville, Kentucky on May 21, 2019 at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 16 days. He was a farmer and attended the Church of Living God.
    J.B. is survived by three grandchildren, Hobert Bradley Brandenburg, William Scott Brandenburg and wife Kim Sizemore, all of Irvine; and Elizabeth Ann Brandenburg and husband Cordell Cowdrey of Inverness, Florida; three great grandchildren, Isabella and Hannah Brandenburg and Bentley Cowdrey; two stepchildren, Wallace Mays of Irvine and Inadell Jewell of Beattyville; five step-grandchildren, Glenn Mays, Ronald Mays, Chasity Fox, Nathaniel Marshall, and Sarah Marshall; several step-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his wife and parents, J.B. is preceded in death by two sons, Hobert and Herman Brandenburg; one step granddaughter, Tammy Napier; four brothers, Frank, Willie Martin, Lorie, and Howell Brandenburg; and two sisters, Kathleen Slone and Thelma Brandenburg.
    Visitation was held Thursday, May 23, 6-8 p.m., at Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Center Street in Beattyville. Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Friday, May 24th, conducted by Bro. Freddie Durbin at the funeral home. Burial was in the Johnson Cemetery on Sand Gap Road in Irvine.
