Wavlene Dunaway

    Wavlene Dunaway, age 82, of Wall Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born October 4, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Elva and Mary Clark Wise. She was a member of the River Drive Christian Church and retired as secretary for the Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Dunaway is survived by her husband, Damon G. Dunaway; one daughter, Angela Hall (Robbie K.), Campbell County; one son, Garry D. Dunaway, Estill County; four sisters: Linda Parks (Monte), Estill County; Thelma Dunaway, Madison County; Mary Fox (Harry), Estill County; and Elfreeda Wickizer, Jessamine County; one brother, Alonzo Wise (Margaret), Ohio; nine grandchildren: R. Kent Hall, Ryan Hall, Cody Hall, Christina Webb, Natalie Dunaway, Joseph Dunaway, Travis Dunaway, Eric Dunaway and Russell Dunaway; and seven great grandchildren: Avae Hall, Cora Hall, Ellena Dunaway, Elijah Webb, Trace Webb, Colton Webb and Maizy Dunaway.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Dunaway; three sisters: Opal C. Critchfield, Chrystal Ashcraft, and Allene Wise; and two brothers: Wilbert E. Wise and Jim Wise.
    Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, June 13, 5:30 p.m. at the River Drive Christian Church by Bro. Paul Groves. Friends may call between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Church.

    Mark Wayne Hall, age 51, husband of Kimberly Hargis Hall, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
    He was born September 23, 1967 in Irvine, Kentucky to Eugene Hall and the late Lois Ann Kincaid Hall. Mark was a member of the Rocky Mountain Association and and the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association. He was also a member of the Christian Assembly of God.
    Survivors include, wife, Kim Hargis Hall; son, Steven Wayne Hall; daughter, Patricia Hall Sowder (Josh); step-son, Tyson Michael Pitts (Hannah); father, Eugene Hall (Kathy); brothers, Stacy Hall (Michelle) and Brian Hall; sisters, Teresa Hall Congleton, Carol Hall Estes, Lois Hall Campbell, and Sondra Hall Strange (Billy); grandchildren, Keagen Wayne Holland, Kadie Holland, Kaydee Sowder, Payton Sowder, Karson Hall, and Everly Pitts.

Jewel Dean Hall, 86

    Jewel Dean Hall, age 86, a resident of the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Center following a long illness.
    She was born December 14, 1932 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late Dallas and Mildred Sewell Riddell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Providence Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph Hall.
    She is survived by three sons: Richie “Ricky” Hall, Anthony Wayne Hall (Polly) and David Glen Hall, all of Estill County; one sister, Doris Hall, Estill County; two grandchildren: Heather Michelle Burgin and Anthony David Hall; and four great grandchildren: Leif Robert Burgin, Odin David Burgin, Mayci Ray Hall and Isla Mae Burgin.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Hall and her brother, Buddy Riddell.
    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 11, 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bill VanWinkle and Bro. Tim Roberts. Burial will be at the Turpin Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, June 10th at the funeral home.

Hager Kelly Rice

    Hager Kelly Rice, age 56, of Richmond, Kentucky, and formerly of Breathitt County, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in Estill County, due to an automobile accident.
    He was born December 7, 1962, in Ary, Kentucky, and was the son of the late John Clay Rice.
    Mr. Rice is survived by his wife: Pamela Turner Rice of Richmond; his mother, Geraldine Rice of Jackson; one daughter, Sarah Kelly Stewart (Josh) of Richmond; one son, David Andrew Rice of Richmond; two sisters: Angela Gail “Angie” Rice of Richmond, and Gerri Sue Chapman of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; two brothers: Lawrence Clay Rice of Jackson, and Frank Rice (Michele) of Bagdad, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Spencer Jade Stewart and Jackson Sloan Stewart.
    Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Stroup officiating. Burial in the Mill Dam Cemetery, Butterpoint Road, Canoe, Kentucky. Visitation began on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

    Raymond Rogers was born September 10, 1933 in Madison County, Kentucky, and departed this life Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, being 85 years of age. He was the son of the late Curt and Rosie Laws Rogers.
    Raymond is survived by his daughter, Debra Ballard of Winchester; by a brother, Howard Lamb (Kathy) of Estill County; and by three sisters, Freda Sparks (Farrell) of Winchester, Jean Rodgers of Indiana and Faye Godby (Norman) of Liberty. Raymond was blessed with five grandchildren, Jennie Zamora (Sam), Amy Johnson (Joel), Kristey Wood (Terry), Amanda Thomas, and Marty Ballard (Kayla); and twelve great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Rogers; two children, Raymond Rogers Jr. and Judy Thomas; three siblings, Doug McKinney, Ollie Mae Eversole and Betty Golden; and by a brother in law, Frank Rodgers.
    A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Robert Horn

    Robert Horn, age 86 of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
    He was born in Chestnut Stand, Kentucky on August 2, 1932, the son of Troy and Eliza Henry Horn. Robert was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Hamilton for more than thirty years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Hugh L. Bates Masonic Lodge. In 1954 in Indiana he married Opal “Christine” Embry.
    He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Opal “Christine” Horn; three children, Sandra Horn-Mack (Charles); Lori Buns (Edward), and David Horn; one sister, Della Dawes (Pete); seven grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Benjamin, and Samuel Mack; Rachel LaFonteese (David), Molly Sexton (Andy) and Abby Raney (Emmy); two great grandchildren, Noah and Savannah LaFonteese; and numerous other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Albert, Cleophus, Harlan Billy, Issac; and Ethel Horn, Beulah Rawlins, Leore Moreland and Ruth Webb.
    Visitation was held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home, 99 Cedar Grove Road, Irvine, Kentucky. Funeral service was held at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Burial followed at West Irvine Cemetery.

Harold Douglas Wiseman

    Harold Douglas Wiseman, age 86, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, May 31, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief and faith in God supported him in his life and enabled him to be a witness for Jesus until his last breath. He died knowing that his life will continue in glory through the grace of Jesus Christ.
    Harold was born to the late Grover and Annie Eliza (Rawlins) Wiseman, in Irvine, Kentucky, on January 3, 1933.
    He is survived by his wife, Lois Anne (Long) Wiseman; their only child, Joanna Jernigan; two grandsons, Christopher Walters and Hunter Richardson; one great grandson; his sister, Elizabeth Wiseman Dixon; two brothers-in law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Mr. Wiseman is preceded in death by his brother, Doyle Wiseman and his parents.
    He attended Irvine High School and joined the Army in 1953. Harold spent two years on active duty in Germany and continued his service in the Army Reserve until 1961. Harold married his partner in life, Lois Anne Long in 1955. Harold was the lock and dam master on the Kentucky River in Estill and Lee County and later started Harold’s Super Lube in Irvine from which he retired.
    Harold loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He took his daughter and grandsons on fishing trips at every opportunity. He was soft-spoken and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem; no matter how small. Harold loved going to church and attended the Irvine First Church of God. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
    Visitation with the family is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the First Church of God on Broadway in Irvine. Eric Patrick will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harold’s life..

Kenny Rawlins

    Kenny Rawlins, age 61, of Sweet Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home following a long illness.
    He was born November 9, 1957 in Madison County to Evelyn Samples Rawlins and the late Edward Rawlins. He was a truck driver for Hardy Oil and attended the Body of Christ Ministries. He lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Rawlins was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Muncy Rawlins.
    He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Samples Rawlins, Estill County; two sisters: Pam Isaacs (Russell) and Laura Ann Rogers (Fred), both of Estill County; one brother, Gary Rawlins (Lisa), Estill County; a special great niece, Jassmine Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his special son, Jonathan Tyler Rawlins; and his twin brother, Denny Rawlins.
    Visitation was held Tuesday, June 4, 6-9 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. A graveside service at the West Irvine Cemetery will be held at a later date.
    Pallbearers are Logan Rawlins, Taylor Stewart, Anthony Townsend, Roger Thrash, Keaton Henry, Zack Townsend, Fred Rogers Jr. and Caden Stewart.

    Develia Horn Conner, age 89, widow of Andrew Conner, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Richmond, Kentucky.
    She was born on April 12, 1930 in Estill County to the late Sylvester and Cynthia Anne Plowman Horn. She was a retired production worker at Westinghouse. She was a member of the Church of God Cathedral and had recently been attending the Church on the Rock in Berea.
    Mrs. Conner is survived by one son, Donnie Andrew Conner (Alice); one brother, Willie Horn; two sisters: Louise Culton and Bernice Marcum; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death two sons, Michael Conner and Ronnie Conner; two daughters, Connie Lynn Fields and Connie Ruth Conner; four brothers, Farris, Carley, Odus and Elva Horn; and two sisters, Mafrey Dunn and Marie Horn.
    Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, by Reverend Mark Saver. Burial will follow in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

    Billy Ray Blythe, 71, widower of Judy Rupard Blythe, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
    He was born October 18, 1947 in Furnace, Kentucky to the late Omer and Hildirth Hall Blythe.
    Survivors include, a special son, Robert Tipton; a sister, Alma Caldwell; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Perry Jr, Kaitlyn Perry and Justin Perry; and many nieces, and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Blythe; a son, Jeffrey Scott Perry Sr.; a daughter, Kymberly Lynn Blythe; four sisters, Florence Baber, Nanny Holland, Thelma Gay McVey and Eva Rae Richardson; and two brothers, Jim Blythe and Shelby Blythe.
    Services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 12:00 Noon, at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Kenny Wasson. Visitation is on Monday, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home.     Martha Lee Lynch, age 70, of Walton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born April 15, 1949 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Edward and Edna Campbell Plowman. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to the Horizon Daycare Center. She attended the Crystal Holiness Church and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Eugene Lynch.
    She is survived by one daughter, Thelma Hamm (Greg) Estill County; four sons: Sherman Ray Lynch, William Edward Lynch, Harm Eugene Lynch (Susan), and Henry Wayne Lynch, all of Estill County; two sisters: Thelma Embry, Estill County; and Rhoda East, McCracken County; one brother: Troy Campbell, Fayette County; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by one daughter, Trisha Ann Lynch; one sister, Ann Lee Campbell; three brothers: Eugene, Earl and Edward “Ozzie” Campbell; and one grandchild.

Lawrence Edward Hughes

    Lawrence Edward Hughes, age 70, of Main Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at his home following a sudden illness.
    He was born March 23, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late Ernest Ralph and Patience Alice Reed Hughes. He was a former Rockwell employee and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Marsha White Bonny Hughes; one son, Eddie Hughes (Amy), Irvine; one stepson, Lee Winkle; one brother, Thomas Eugene Hughes, Irvine; and one grandson, Luke Hughes.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Leon Hughes.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 1, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, May 31st at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Military rites were provided by the American Legion Post 79.

    Floyd “Tony” Miller, age 55, of Pryse Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born March 15, 1964 in Estill County and was the son of Blanche Rison Miller and the late Floyd Miller. He was a truck driver with Bishop Oil and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Delisa Hardy Miller; three sons: Christopher Miller (Brittany), Joshua Miller (Tonya), and Dustin Miller (Marquita), all of Estill County; one sister, Lou Ann Hall (Darrell), Estill County; one brother, Earl Glenn Miller (Carolyn), Garrard County; one grandchild, Emilia Miller; special nephews: Greg Kirby and Randall Tipton; and a special niece, Tera Hardy.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Miller.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ned Byers and Clarence Rison. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 29th at the funeral home.

KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Estill County

    IRVINE, Ky. (June 5, 2019) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Estill County on Spout Springs Rd. (KY-82) near Trammell Lane, north of Irvine just before 11:50 am today.
     The initial investigation indicates that Hager K. Rice, 56 years old of Richmond, was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla west on Spout Springs Road. Rice lost control of his vehicle and crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a 2016 Ford Fusion operated by Haley Puckett, 20 years old of Irvine. As a result of the collision, Hager Rice sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Estill County Coroner.
    Haley Puckett and her three passengers were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
     The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Toney Allen.
