Zella Hall, 79
|
Zella Hall, age 79, a resident of the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away July 29, 2019 at the Center.
She was born December 3, 1939 in Torrent, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Letcher and Minnie Wise Vanderpool. She was a mother and homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Hall is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Edward Hall.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Lowery (Timothy) Hillard, Ohio; four brothers: Clayton Vanderpool (Ann), California; Nelson Vanderpool, Irvine; Letcher Vanderpool, Clay City; and Frank Vanderpool (Jean), Irvine; three grandchildren: Jessica Hall, Zachary Hall and Shannon Sims (Ron); and one great grandchild, Covina Burden.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her son, Edward Ray Hall; one sister, Vina Elofskey; and one brother, Raymond Vanderpool.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, August 3, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Scott Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Michael Glenn Allen, 58

Michael Glenn Allen, age 58, of Stanton, Kentucky, husband of Michelle Allen departed this world Monday, July 29, 2019 to be with his Heavenly Father.
He was born in Beattyville, October 5, 1960 to Philip and Deloris Allen. He was the owner of Allen’s Hardware in Jeffersonville and was an Evangelist.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Michelle Allen of Stanton; his mother, Deloris Allen of Stanton; a son, Tyler Allen of Clay City; a grandson, Case Ridge Allen of Stanton; one brother; Dale Allen (Anita) of Stanton; four sisters: Janet Adams (Lin) of Owensboro, Rhonda Barnett, Kathy Stone, both of Stanton; and Dawn Barnes (Eddie); and a special niece, Julia Sparks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Allen; a brother, Danny Allen; and his father and mother in-law, David and Hazel Sparks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Mt. Parkway Church of God in Clay City with Bro. Dale Payne, Bro. Wendell Clevenger and Bro. Hoss Prater officiating. Friends may visit Wednesday, July 31st from 4 – 9 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Clark Cemetery in Clay City. Family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 161 Saint Matthews Ave. Suite 3, Louisville, KY 40207 and sign your licenses to be an organ donor.

Katie Jones, 75

Katie Jones, age 75, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Saint Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.
She was born April 11, 1944 in Estill County to Oliver and Myrtie Neal Tipton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lighthouse Church of God.
Mrs. Jones is survived by a daughter, Myrtie Booth of Irvine, a grandson Michael Wayne Booth, one brother, Ray Tipton of Irvine; four sisters: Mary Tincher of Clay City, Edith Estes of Irvine, Sally Ann Proffit of Clay City, and Maudie Tipton of Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Myrtie Neal Tipton; her husband, John Jones; her son, Thomas Tipton; and a daughter, Sharon Ann Tipton.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Full Gospel Evangelistic Church in Irvine. Friends may visit at the church Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Jones family Cemetery in Irvine.

Wanda Ruth Arvin Leschansky, 89

Wanda Ruth Arvin Leschansky, age 89, of Washington Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born December 12, 1929 in Estill County, Kentucky, to Brose Douglas and Willie Jo Arvin (Fritz). Wanda was a graduate of Wilbur Wright and Patterson Co-op. She worked various jobs as a sales associate and an accountant until she dedicated her life to being a homemaker and raising her family. She was devoted to her husband Ed, and her children, spending many hours creating a welcoming and safe home filled with love, laughter, and fun. She was an accomplished seamstress, artist and crafter, and she created many beautiful gifts for family and friends. Wanda loved to travel and spent many of her later years sightseeing and visiting different countries with her husband. She was adventurous and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed horseback-riding, water skiing, camping, snorkeling, and hiking. She loved life and lived it with a selfless and gracious heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Leschansky is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward James “Ed” Leschansky; her children Ed (Mary Ann), Jamie Fullenkamp (Larry), Vickie Couch (Mike), Annette Even (Doug), Lori Pickard (Mark), Patti (Jay), Jim, and Teri Cooper (Tod); her 16 grandchildren, Nick (Supinda), Bret, Elizabeth (Adam), Anne (Jay), Catherine, Matt, Zach (Mirian), Max (Meghan), Erica (Austin), Alex, Adam, Jacob, Andy, Nate, Linsay, and Leah; one great grandson, Spencer; her brother, “Butch” Arvin (Judy); and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering, Ohio, date and time pending. Burial will be at Cavalry Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Avenue in Dayton.

Ethel Rogers Hall, age 95, of Newport, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
She was born on July 4, 1924 in Estill County, KY. Ethel was a homemaker and a member of Garrad St. Church of Christ in Covington for 25+ years.
Mrs. Hall is preceded in death by her parents, James and Patsey Rogers; husband, Alvie Hall; daughter, Donna Farrar; son, Randall Hall; sisters, Pauline Davidson and Imogene Palma and brother, William Rogers.
Ethel is survived by her loving daughters, Betty Jones and Jeweldine “Judy” Tennant; sister, Katheleen Romeu; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Ethel will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway in Florence. The funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m.
Burial will take place the next day, Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Cobb Hill Cemetery in Cobb Hill, Kentucky, with the committal service beginning at 12:00 Noon.

Quenna Sue Gentry, age 50, of London Dock Road in London, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
She was born August 4, 1968 in Hyden, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Velma Jean Morris Hafley and the late Billy Harold Bowman. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Survivors in addition to her mother include two daughters: Evangeline Faith Lee, Laurel County; and Elizabeth Danielle Banks, Estill County; five stepdaughters: Christy Alvey, Cheyenne Gentry, Bridgette Gentry, Destiny Gentry, and Hope Gentry, all of Indiana; two sisters: Delia Henry, Estill County; and Lara Rochelle Hafley, Lee County; two brothers: Billy Harold Bowman Jr. and John Bowman, both of Lee County; seven grandchildren: Kaidence Heavyn Lee, Landon Pierce Gentry, Ryan Walter Terry Cowquill, Benson Keith Kelly, Kyra Danielle Sky Dixon, Peyton Jean Dixon and Breanna Alvey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Skyler Andrew Shelton; one brother, Nicholas Seth Hafley; and one grandchild, Johnathon Edward Charles Dixon.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 30, 1:00 p.m., at the Irvine First Church of God by Bro. David Adams and Bro. Hunter Fraley. Burial was at the Puckett Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Monday, July 29th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 12 Noon, Tuesday, at the Church.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Henry, Dave Adams, Jason Frye, John Dixon, Justin Chadwell, Tim Doyle, and papaw Fred Hafley.
Honorary pallbearer was Quenna’s mom, Velma.
Jane Wood Britton, 87

Jane Wood Britton, age 87, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019.
She was born in Irvine, Kentucky, on November 12, 1931, to the late Cecil Jack Wood and Sarah Daniel Berryman Lynch. She spent her life caring for dozens of children and enjoyed being a loving homemaker. She was an avid reader and a past-president of the VFW Post 4075 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Britton is survived by her children, Terry Derringer (Pat), Patti Meade (GW) and Susan Renee Britton; a sister, Sandy Kendall (Kerry); severn grandchildren, Dawn VanHorn, Carrie Brinley, Terry Derringer Jr., Christopher Jason Stamper, J.J. Aylmer, Saylor Samuel Aylmer, and Clayton Curtis Aylmer; and by numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall Curtis “Randy” Derringer; and a brother, Carol Wood.
Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 312 Washington Street, Frankfort, on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Linda Kay Hall, 74
Linda Kay Hall, age 74, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
She was born January 26, 1945 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late J.W. “Bill” and Eunice Johnson Bybee. She was retired from the Estill County School System and was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Donald Clay Hall; one son, Jeffrey Clay Hall (Cynthia), Madison County; and one grandchild, Jeremy Clay Hall.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Bybee.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 27, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Mike Chism. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, July 26th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Hall, Kent Hall, Steve Roberts, Scott Isaacs, Jerry Duffy and Tony Marcum.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Hospice Care Plus Compassionate Care Center in Richmond or to the South Irvine Christian Church.
Daisie Lee Farthing Sparks, 85

Daisie Lee Farthing Sparks, age 85, of South Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, widow of Richard T. Sparks, passed away on Monday, the 22nd day of July, 2019.
Daisie was born in Estill County, Kentucky on March 31st, 1934, a daughter of Charles J. O. Farthing and Della Mae (nee: Walton) Farthing. She attended the First Baptist Church of South Lebanon and was a previous member of the River Drive Christian Church in Irvine, Kentucky. Daisie loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Johnetta Warren, her parents, two sisters, Norma Jean Young and Gloria Mae Farthing, five brothers, Charles Jr., Steven, Peter, Guy, and Charles (aka Sonny) Farthing.
Survivors include two daughters: Marilyn Warner of Winchester, Kentucky; and Kathy Bowman of Lebanon, Ohio; four grandchildren: Mary Lee, Harold (aka Bub), Carey, and Rebecca, 11 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m., all at the First Baptist Church, 505 Mason Road, South Lebanon, Ohio. A graveside service will follow on Friday July 26, 2019 at 12 Noon at the Walton Family Cemetery in Estill County, Kentucky.
Arrangements are made by Stine Funeral Home, Lebanon, Ohio.

Michael W. Maness Sr., 68

Michael W. Maness, Sr., age 68, of Crandall, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at his home following a short illness.
He was born May 29, 1951 in Estill County and was the son of the late Charlie and Mollie Sparks Maness. He was a retired restaurant manager and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Maness is survived by one daughter, Tammy Lynn Horn, Irvine; five sons: Michael W. Maness Jr., Irvine; Christopher David Maness, Charles Henry Maness, Michael Eugene Simpson, and Lonnie Bruce Simpson, all of Chatsworth, Georgia; one sister, Frances Marcum, Estill County; three brothers: Charles Maness, Jacob Estes, and Woodrow Dixon, all of Estill County; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Matilda Richardson; and one brother, James Maness.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 19, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Campbell Cemetery. Friends may call between 11:00 a.m. and service time at 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Ronnie Joshua Wilson was born March 18, 1957 in Michigan and departed this life Monday, July 15, 2019 at his residence, being 62 years. He was the son of the late Harvey & Nannie Bernice Riggs Wilson. Ronnie was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Ewing, Kentucky.
Ronnie is survived by his two sons, Aaron Wilson of McKee and Josh Wilson (Kayla) of Estill County. He is also survived by seven siblings, Lannie Thomas Wilson (Freda) of Barbourville, John Michael Wilson (Joanne) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; James Jeffery Wilson (Teresa) of London, Kentucky; Timothy Glenn Wilson (Mae) of Corbin, David Anthony Wilson (Edwina) of London, Kentucky; Alice Faye Browning (Howard) of Williamsburg, Ohio; and Brenda Joyce Turner (Teddy) of Hudson, Michigan.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street South in McKee, with Bro. Shawn Smith and Bro. Keith Carr officiating. Burial to follow in the Sparkman Cemetery.
