Tonia Ann Henry

    Tonia Ann Henry, age 44, of Chestnut Stand in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born September 27, 1974 in Dayton, Ohio and was the daughter of Russell and Pam Rawlins Isaacs. She was a Carhartt, Inc. employee and attended the Restoration Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Kevin Henry; one son, Keaton Henry, Estill County; one sister, Kristy Carol, Fayette County; nephews: Bryan, Ben, Brock and Bryce Carroll and an extra special nephew, Jace Carroll; and many other relatives and friends.
    Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 4, 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home chapel by Bro. Shawn Riley. Burial will be at the Henry Cemetery.

Edna Johnson Rucker

    Edna Johnson Rucker, age 90, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at her home after a long illness.
    She was born February 6, 1929 in Owsley County and was the daughter of the late George and Nellie Anderson Johnson. She was a retired farmer and a faithful member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church at Red Lick. She lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Ricker was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, John Nolan Rucker.
    She is survived by two sons: Roscoe Rucker (Mary) and Glenn Rucker (Margie), both of Estill County; one daughter, Katherine Rucker Dixon (Donald), Estill County; one brother, Hubert Johnson, Estill County; four grandchildren: Allison Rucker, Rose Rucker, Stacey Rucker and Justin Dixon; two special grandchildren: Shane Galloway and John Galloway; five great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Rucker was preceded in death by four sisters: Veneda Plowman, Edith Abney, Laura Jones, and Clara Crowe; three brothers: Clarence, Virgil and Farris Johnson; one half-brother, Pierce Johnson; and two half-sisters: Vicie and Elvira Turner.
    Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 2nd at 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jason Brooks. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery.

Leo Horn

    Leo Horn, age 77, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, August 28, 2019, at the V A Medical Center in Lexington.
    He was born April 28, 1942, in West Irvine, Kentucky, to Daniel and Mae Stone Horn, both of whom preceded him in death. Leo was a retired employee of National Metal Processing and was a United States Army veteran. He attended the Richmond House of Prayer and was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed reading.
    Survivors include his wife, Grace L. King Horn of Richmond; one daughter, Teresa Dawes (Teddy) of Irvine; one son, Ron Horn (Angela) of Richmond; one sister, Reva Madden of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, John and Jodi Dawes, Melanie, Ryan, and Dylan Horn; and his best friend, Hank Dunn of Mt. Sterling.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Colby Horn; one sister, Hazel Short; and two brothers, Corbin and Gilford Horn.
    Funeral service for Leo will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 – 9 p.m., Friday, August 30th at the funeral home.
    His grandsons, nephews, and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

Ashley Dawn Richardson

    Ashley Dawn Richardson, age 28, of Salter Road in Berea, Kentucky, passed away at UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.
    Ashley was born in Richmond, Kentucky to Michael Richardson and the late Jan Baber Richardson. She was employed by Hitachi in Berea.
    In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Mary Baber.
    She is survived by her father, Michael Richardson (Joyce); one brother, Mikey Ryan Richardson (Brooke); two aunts, Debbie and Terry Moberly and Nancy and John Sullivan; one uncle, Bruce and Lisa Baber; a niece, Adalynn Richardson; she was a godmother to Brylee Anglin, Natalie and Aaron Alexander; grandparents, Ann and Hume Richardson; and her loving animals, Izzy, Blue and Sophie. She also leaves behind many extended family member and friends.
    Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home, 203 North Dogwood Drive, Berea, with Bro. Todd Miracle officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 30th from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Josh Green, Tyler Moberly, Brandon Moberly, Jeff Chesebro, Jerry Alexander, Dalton Shanken, Chad Poole, and Jarrod Glover.
    The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers that helped and supported them through this difficult time, especially the ones on the 11th floor, Tower 2 at UK Markey Cancer Center.

Richard "Boola" Lynch

    Richard "Boola" Lynch, widower of Ruby Barnes Lynch, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019.
    Mr. Lynch was a native of Estill County, a son of the late Owen and Katherine Stoffer Lynch. He was a retired employee of Rockwell International. He was a mason, being a member of Stafford Lodge #562. He was a big sports fan, especially University of Kentucky sports. He was a former sportswriter for the Estill Tribune, and prepared the sports questions for the Estill County High halftime show. He enjoyed the Halloween Holiday, and giving candy out at his door.
    Boola was also preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Eugene Johnson; a great grandchild, Lucas Embry; and a brother, Lawrence Joseph Lynch.
    Survivors include his children: Stanley Kevin Merell (April), Richard Lincoln Lynch (Lori), Teresa Johnson (Randy), Vicki Powell (Breck), Robyn Morefield (Victor), Angela Merell, and Christi Lynch; his brother, Randolph Meredith Lynch; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and special friends: Carroll Hughes, Frank Yeager, and Bear Bryant.
    Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Church. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the Church, and 10 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery.

    Virginia Sons Miller Powell, age 90, widow of Charles Miller and Leslie Powell, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at her home.
    She was a native of Estill County, a daughter of the late Albert and Bettie Powell Sons. She was a former employee of Bundy Tubing and a homemaker. She was a member of the White Oak Church of God.
    Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her sisters: Thelma Walling, and Zona Peiffer.
    Survivors include her children: Bettie Miller and David Powell (Janet); her grandchildren Tonya Gambrel (Ronnie), Tommy Farthing, LeAndrea Dixon (Lee), Kayla Brewer (Kyle), Olivia Powell, and Marlee Jo Powell; four great grandchildren: Shelby LeeAnn Farmer, Landon Hix, Tressie Rachelle Gambrel, and Cadence Gambrel; and a great, great grandson, Kendall Raider Baber.

    Venessa Gail Hale Reese, 43, wife of Pat Reese, passed away at her home, Sunday, August 25, 2019.
    She was a native of Estill County, born November 8, 1975, a daughter of Donna Frazier Parsons and the late Garry Hale. Venessa enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and knitting. She attended the White Oak Church of God.
    Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her step-brother, Timothy Mitchell.
    Survivors, other than her husband Pat, include her mothers: Donna Parsons, Freda Watson, and Connie Ducker (Bruce); her brother, Shaun Hale (Kim); her step-brother, Jerry Parsons Jr; her sister, Veronica Burns (Nathan); her nieces and nephews: Kayla Burns, Nick Burns, Erika Burns, Mia Hale, Ashton Hale, Ava Hale, Harper Hale, Miles Hale, Zack Regan, Hannah Regan, Rachel Plowman, Kylie Jenkins, Trenton Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Jerran Webser, Jaldyn Webster, Jerah Parsons, and Reese Johnson; and great nieces and nephews: Blakely Wiseman, Macey Plowman, and Mallory Plowman.

    Judy Ann Causey, age 74, of McKee Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born December 1, 1944 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late Virgil and Josephine Moores Spicer. She was a retired Square D employee and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was a member of the New Beginning Fellowship Church and the Estill County Historical Society.
    Mrs. Causey is survived by her companion of 46 years, Earnest Causey; one daughter, Shonna Canter (Geoffrey), Madison County; one son, Joseph R. Johnson (Michelle), Scott County; two sisters: Phyllis Rucker and Sherry Yeager, both of Estill County; and four grandchildren: Drew Johnson, Faith Johnson, Dylan Canter and Cody Canter
    She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Carrie Fraley; and one sister, Jewel Dean Edwards.

Robert Lee Richardson Sr.

    Robert Lee Richardson, Sr., age 57, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019.
    Robert, the son of Avery Richardson and Eliza Jane Hamilton Richardson, was born in Estill County on May 22, 1962. He was a self-employed roofer and worked in construction. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was a Christian. His greatest treasures were his grandchildren.
    Survivors include his mother, Eliza Jane Hamilton Richardson; his son and daughter: Robert A. Richardson Jr. and Melinda Richardson, both of Richmond; five brothers: Larry Richardson (Sarah), Danny Richardson (Michelle), Raymond Richardson (Sharon), Rickey Richardson and Roy Richardson; his sister, Brenda Caudill (Brian) and two grandchildren: Jayda Richardson and Elijah Briden.
    In addition to his father, Robert was preceded in death by three brothers: James Eddie Richardson, Lanny Richardson and David Richardson.
    Funeral Services were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street in Richmond, with Bro. Wayne Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation was after 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Sarah Katherine Dawes Hymer

    Sarah Katherine Dawes Hymer, age 84, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at her home.
    Mrs. Hymer, the daughter of John Dawes and Addie Edmonson Dawes, was born in Estill County on November 1, 1934. She was a homemaker and loved watching Westerns. She cherished her time at Horizon Adult Health Care. Her church, Pine Grove Pentecostal Assembly, was also an important part of her life.
    Sarah united in marriage to Daniel Hymer who preceded her in death in December 2006.
    Survivors include her granddaughter, Melissa Hymer Tester (Mike) and their two children; also, her brother, Bill Dawes (Violet); her special cousin and caregiver, Esther and Rev. Sydney Sparks; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hymer was preceded in death by her daughter, Gracie Mae Hymer Jackson; one grandson, Charles Ray Hymer Jackson; her brother, Carl J. Dawes and two sisters: Nannie Elizabeth Dawes and Irene Dawes.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Pine Grove Pentecostal Assembly, 105 Pine Grove Road, Richmond, with Rev. Sydney Sparks, Rev. Mitchell Sparks and Rev. Steve Barrett officiating. Burial followed in the Boian Cemetery in Estill County. Visitation was from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, at the church.
    The family would like to thank Horizon Adult Health Care and especially Amanda Toler for their love and investment in Sarah’s life.
    Pallbearers were Teddy Dawes, Jimmy Noland, Tim Marshall, Harold Oliver, David Marcus and Walsa Blanton.

    Dallas Rose age 54, of McKee, Kentucky, departed this life Tuesday August 20, 2019 at his residence.
    He was born March 12, 1965, the son of the late Hobart and Elzona Marcum Rose.
    Dallas is survived by his two sisters: Alice Cole (Roy) of Irvine and Margie Clark (Leroy) of Estill County.
    He was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Rose.
    Graveside services were held Wednesday August 21, 2019 at the Harrison Cemetery in the Hisel Community of Jackson County, with Bro. Jerry Rose officiating and burial following the funeral.

Jerry “Stack” Tipton

    Jerry “Stack” Tipton, age 73, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born April 30, 1946 in Estill County to the late Jake Tipton Jr. and Rosenell Noland Tipton Eversole. He was a construction worker for the Allen Company and attended the Green Pastures Worship Center. He was a lifetime member of the Peacemaker Motorcycle Club. He lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Gail Abshear Tipton.
    He is survived by his companion, Linda Isaacs; three daughters: Debra Dunnaway, Powell County; Etta L. Tipton and Jasmine Tipton, both of Estill County; one son, Jerry Sparks, Florida; three sisters: Rose Marie Eversole, Ruby Lamb, both of Fayette County; and Sandra Morris, Mississippi; two brothers: Bruce Tipton, Estill County; and Eddie Eversole, Fayette County; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Tipton; and two grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 22, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ed Clark. Burial followed in the South Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 10:00 a.m., until service time Thursday, at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were David Parks, Jeff Hall, Benny Crawford, Joe Brock, Steve Miller, Harry White, and Tim Casey.
    Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great grandchildren.
