James Douglas “Jim” Chrisman, 74

James Douglas “Jim” Chrisman, age 74, of Drowning Creek Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Baptist Health Richmond.
He was born January 30, 1945 in Estill County and was the son of the late James Edward and Opal Mae French Chrisman. He was an employee of Uncle Charlie’s Meats in Richmond for 53 years and attended the Providence Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Chrisman is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Wilson Chrisman; two sons: Greg Chrisman (Lisa), Irvine; and Ricky Chad Chrisman, Richmond; two sisters: Shirley Berryman (Bob) Richmond; and Brenda Kay (John), Versailles; one brother, Larry Chrisman (Joan), Irvine; six grandchildren: Douglas Chrisman, Casey Covey (Jordan), Destiny Chrisman, Zack Chrisman, Alyssa Blankenship and Derrick Chrisman; and three great grandchildren: Jaxon Cole, Lainey Gail, and Sadie Jane Covey.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Douglas Chrisman.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Bill VanWinkle and Bro. Tim Roberts. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, November 26th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Chrisman, Zack Chrisman, Derrick Chrisman, Jordan Covey, Billy Berryman, Robert Berryman and Donald Spears.
Honorary pallbearers will be Woody Dixon, and past and present employees of Uncle Charlie’s Meats
Devella Smith, 81

Devella Smith, age 81, of McKee Manor Drive in McKee, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
She was born March 16, 1938 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Della Mae Fowler Smith. She was a retired employee of Eastern Kentucky University and a member of the Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Ramsey.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen Sue Smith, Jackson County; and Janet Lynn Cox, Kansas; one son, James Everett Ramsey, Fayette County; three stepchildren: Ruby, Ernie and Vernon Ramsey; six grandchildren: John Ramsey, Cammy Lynn Ingram, Anthony Glen Smith, Carrie Suzanne Mason, Tonya Gail Vasquez and Devella Renee Steffen; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children: Barbara Murray and Cecil Ramsey.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

Anna Leora Smith, age 82, a resident of Cambridge Place in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019, following a long illness.
She was born February 22, 1937 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Hubert G. and Edna Evelyn Estes Johnson. She was a former employee of the Newport Nazarene Church and Baldwin Piano Company.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Russell Ralph Smith, Sr.; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Smith Johnson, Lexington; two sons: Russell Ralph Smith, Jr., Winchester; and Eddie Dwayne Smith, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Faye Stewart, Ravenna; and
Nancy Teegarden, Butler; three brothers: Virgil Johnson, Bellevue; James Johnson, Furnace; and Dallas Johnson, Beattyville; a brother-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Highley, Greenville, South Carolina; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Eric Smith; four sisters: Sue Abney, Beulah Mays, Zelma Rogers, and Phyllis Shouse; and one brother, Floyd Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 26, 2019, 12:00 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends may call between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Cobb Hill Cemetery Fund.

Earl Douglas Riddell, age 78, of Stacy Lane in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the St. Joseph East Hospital.
He was born August 20, 1941 in Estill County and was the son of Sarah Angeline Perry Riddell and the late Elmer Riddell. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Wagersville Community Pentecostal Church of God. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Evelyn Marie Baker Riddell; one daughter, Doris Ann Riddell, Lexington; two sons: Earl Douglas Riddell, Jr. (Mary) and Keith Riddell, both of Lexington; two stepchildren: Kimberly Jo Riddell (Jamie) and David Hager (Gwen), both of Irvine; one sister, Laura Faye Johnson, Nicholasville; and three brothers: Tony Riddell, Roger Riddell, and James Benny Riddell, all of Nicholasville; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two children: Mary Earlise Riddell and Kirt Douglas Riddell; one sister, Doris Marie Riddell; four brothers: David Wayne, Elmer Jr., Danny Dale and Bobby Joe Riddell; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 24, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Frankie Sparks and Bro. Phillip Smith. Burial was at the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, November 23rd at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Marshall Riddell, Tom Riddell, Brad Riddell, Ricky Hardy, Wesley Johnson and Benji Riddell.
Gladys Davis, 69
Gladys Davis, age 69, of Brookstown Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, at her home following a short illness.
She was born December 14, 1949 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ola Mae Sparks White. She was a retired employee of the UK College of Pharmacy and a member of the Red House Holiness Church. She had lived in Madison County most of her life.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, John Evans Davis; one daughter, Jennifer Rose (Daniel), Madison County; one son, Kurt Davis (Susan), Madison County; three sisters: Joyce Edmonson (Harold), Teresa Smith and Rosalie White, all of Estill County; five grandchildren: Austin Davis, Cameron Davis, Stuart Rose, Andrew Rose (Victoria) and Elisabeth Rose; and two great grandchildren, Liam and Olivia Davis.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters: Margie Stanley, Marzella White, Roberta Sparks, Sharon White, Wilma Jean Sparks, Betty Jo White and Elizabeth White.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 25, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Elvie Evans. Burial was at the Madison Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Sunday, November 24th at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Austin Davis, Camron Davis, Stuart Rose, Andrew Rose, Shannon Edmonson and George Hall.
Justin Dale Carson, 34

Justin Dale Carson, age 34, of High Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born August 8, 1985 in Modesto, California and was the son of Tommy Eugene Carson II and the late Connie Joleen Winnard Childers. He was an employee of Prestress Services Industries and a United States Marines veteran who served two tours in Iraq.
Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Kenra Jane Henry Carson; his grandmother, Linda Henry, Michigan; one daughter, Alexis Cheyanne Nicole Carson, at home; four sons: Kyle Sebastin Carson, California; Brayden Tyler Carson, Austin Chase Carson and Kayden Jayce Carson, all at home; his step-father, James W. Childers, Jackson County; two sisters: Jamie Nicole Childers, Clark County; and Jessica Ann Childers, Bath County; four brothers: Tommy Eugene Carson III, Joseph Steven Carson, Travis Lee Carson, all of Estill County; and Zachary Allen Carson, Nicholas County; two step-brothers: Timothy James Childers, Indiana; and Ryan Childers, Michigan; and his in-laws: Karen Harrison and Roger Harrison, both of Estill County.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 23, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Carson Cemetery. Friends called Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Mike Davidson, Bill Davidson, Travis Carson, Tommy Carson, Joe Carson and Zack Carson.

Karen S. Alcorn, age 72, of Corydon, Indiana, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon.
She was born November 26, 1946, in Miamisburg, Ohio, to the late William and Mae McQueen Willis. She was a retired custodian at Corydon Central High School and attended Lincoln Hills Christian Church in Corydon.
Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death her husband, Mitchell Alcorn, Sr.; her parents; her step-mother, Nancy Willis; and her brother, David “Dank” Willis.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Mitchell Alcorn (Lona) of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Mitchell Alcorn, Jr. (Missy) and Russell Lynn Alcorn (Mary Ann), both of Corydon; her daughters, Beverly Regina Beckwith (David) of Middletown, Ohio, Bertie Mae Faulkner and Pearlene Alcorn, both of Corydon; her brother, William “Bill” Willis of Ohio; her grandchildren, Lindsey, Jay, Michael, Randi, Rusti, Brittany, Katie Jo, Wade, Kristen and Jarrett; and her great grandchildren, Libby, Cheyenne, Everly, Caleb, Nolan and Hayden.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019 at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, 201 North Oak Street in Corydon.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Alcorn Cemetery near Irvine, Kentucky. Minister Frank Spalding will officiate.

Ovie Tipton, age 91, of Cedar Grove Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at his home following a long illness.
He was born February 18, 1928 in Estill County to the late Ruben Tipton and Laura Chaney Tipton. He retired from General Motors and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Estill County for the last 6 years.
Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Milly” Alcorn Tipton.
He is survived by: one daughter, Lori Tipton Lee, Estill County; two grandchildren: Ashley Lorin Simpson and Garret James Simpson; three step-grandchildren: Heather Payne, Holly Osborne, and Hilary Trinadad; special nieces and nephews: Esco Crowe, Shelby Crowe, Janette Dixon, and Trisha Shannon; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Kimberly Kolsky; three sisters, Betty Ann Crowe, Offie Lee Tipton, and Cleary Tipton; four brothers, Thomas Tipton, Shelby “Red” Tipton, Joe Tipton, and Grover Tipton; a special nephew, Rudolf Crowe; and one niece, Bernice Dixon.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 21, 6:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Terry Barnes. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m., Thursday night until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, November 22nd, 12:00 Noon, at the Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia, Ohio.

Elsie Settle Gross, 77, the widow of the late Clyde Gross, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
She was born November 1, 1942, at Berea, Kentucky, to Raymond and Ethel McHone Settle, both of whom preceded her in death. Elsie was a certified nursing assistant and had served many families in Richmond by cleaning homes. She was of the Baptist faith
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Clay Gross (Marquitta) of Berea; four daughters, Eva Lois Alexander (Johnny) of Berea, Reva Joyce Poynter, Betty Elizabeth King, both of Richmond, and Gail Picklesimer (Ron) of Berea; two sisters, Katherine King (Junie Botkins) of Berea, and Nancy Landsaw (Albert) of Winchester; and four brothers, Donald Burnell of Richmond, Jimmy Settle of Berea, Ronnie Settle of Wolfe County, and Paul Settle of West Liberty. She also leaves her grandchildren, Steve Poynter , Crystal Snowden (Chris), John Jon Jones (Jill), Heather Johnson (Nathan), Melonie Wood, April Riddell (Kevin), Nikta Reece (Josh), Michael Pickens, Josh Gross (Melanie), Jacob Gross, Tonya Smith (Brown); and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janessa Wood; a special step-mother, Katherine Settle Landrum; two sisters, Lucille Barrett and Elizabeth Smyth; and three brothers, Howard Settle, Ricky Settle and Larry Brewer.
Funeral service for Elsie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2019, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. Greg King officiating. Burial will follow at Gross Cemetery in Estill County. Visitation will be 6 – 9 p.m., Thursday, November 21st at the funeral home.

Wilma Jean Sparks, age 63, of Kissey Branch in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a short illness.
She was born April 11, 1956 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ola Mae Sparks White. She was a retired mail carrier with the Irvine Post Office and was a member of the Holiness faith. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Ms. Sparks is survived by one daughter, Amy French (Jason), Estill County; one son, Thurston Alcorn (Lynn), Madison County; four sisters: Joyce Edmonson, Estill County; Gladys Davis, Madison County; Teresa Smith and Rosa Lee White, both of Estill County; and four grandchildren: Wade French (Lexi); Henry, Mason and Calvin Alcorn.
She was preceded in death by six sisters: Margie Stanley, Marzella White, Roberta Sparks, Sharon White, Betty Jo White and Elizabeth White.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Newton Cemetery. Friends called between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Roy Eugene Conner, 66
Roy Eugene Conner, 66, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at his home.
Roy was born on January 22, 1953 in Estill County, Kentucky, and was the son of Pleas and Zella Golden Barnes Conner, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired grounds foreman at Eastern Kentucky University.
He is survived by: his wife, Denise Burns Conner, of Richmond; two daughters, Marsha Conner Hayes (Floyd Pearson), of Berea, and Michelle Conner Davidson (Timothy), of Jackson County; four grandchildren, Matthew Hayes (Rebekah), Merissa Conner Seals, Tamara Jo Crumley (Michael), and Joey Lamb; five great grandchildren, Lacey Seals, Conner Seals, Riley Seals, Michael Jo Crumley, and Malachi Crumley; four brothers, Gary Conner (Kay), Bobby Conner (Mary), Doug Conner, and Earl Conner; one sister, Barbara Sue Johnson (Chris); two sisters-in-law, Beverly Conner and Debbie Conner; three brothers-in-law, Tim Horn, Virgil Burns, and Hershel Burns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Horn, and four brothers, Pleas E. Conner Jr., Donald Conner, Tommy Conner, and Mark Conner.
Visitation will be from 5–9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond. A funeral service for Roy Conner will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20th at the funeral home with Bro. Virgil Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery
