Edna Spivey

    Edna Spivey, age 88, of George Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
    She was born March 2, 1931 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late France Marion and Margaret Ann Webb Chamberlain. She was a homemaker and a retired factory worker. She was a member of the Lower Red Lick Holiness Church and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Spivey.
    She is survived by four daughters: Patricia Noe, Jean Neal, Joanne Williams (Doug), and Lisa Walden (Tommy), all of Irvine; four sons: Albert Randall Spivey (Sheila), Delbert Ray Spivey, Harold Spivey (Peggy), and Stephen E. Spivey (Vickie), all of Irvine; one sister, Retha Alcorn, Frankfort; one brother, Charlie Chamberlain, Hamilton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren; and a special helper, Kylie Stewart.
    Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Spivey; 10 siblings, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Eugene Webb. Burial will be at the Alcorn Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 7th at the funeral home.

William Gregory Prewitt

    William Gregory Prewitt, age 59, of Twin Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    He was born January 6, 1960 in Estill County and was the son of Verlon Wayne Prewitt and the late Patricia Lee Tucker Prewitt. He was a farmer, a gunsmith and a member of the Irvine First Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Survivors in addition to his father include two sons: William Jacob Prewitt (Jennifer), Bellevue; and Tanner Hall (Molly), Estill County; one brother, Christopher Wayne Prewitt, Estill County; one granddaughter, Grace Rice; one grandson, Owann Noland Hall; his stepmother, Lois June Prewitt; and his fiancé, Andy Abney.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 5, 2020, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Greg Humpert. Burial followed at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Saturday, January 4th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were Bud Tucker, Kenny Tucker, Brandon Prewitt, Bucky Wilson, Jason Riley and Ricky Prewitt.
    Honorary pallbearers were Tim McGee, Clark Abney, David Camfield and Stewart Johnson.

Leslie Theodore Watson

    Leslie Theodore Watson, age 86, husband of Lillie Mae Shuler Watson, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, after a long illness.
    He was a native of Estill County, born October 12, 1933, a son of the late James Rufford Watson and Stella Shuler Watson. Mr. Watson enjoyed singing and playing guitar.
    Mr. Watson was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Michael Rader; his brother, Bruce Watson; and his sisters: Verna Joyce Watson, and Bertha Lee Wise.
    Survivors other than his wife of 65 years, Lillie Mae, include his sons, Joey Watson and Charles Watson; his daughters: Lois Bernice Rader (Jim), and Mary Watson; and his grandchildren Dalton Watson, Grayce Watson, and Leslie Brook Rader.
    Services were held Saturday, January 4, 2020, 1:00 p.m., at Lewis-Abner Home for Funerals with Willie Hargus Gordon officiating. Burial followed in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends called anytime after 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 3rd at the Funeral Home.
    Nephews and family friends served as pallbearers.

Lloyd Clinton Roberts

    Lloyd Clinton Roberts of Estill County, Kentucky, took his last breath on December 31st, 2019 at 89 years young. He was surrounded by family in a room full of love.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, Minor Clint Roberts and Fannie Mays Roberts; five sisters, Ida Mae Freeman, Hazel Tomes, Ruby Smyth, Lois Nugent, Cora Wilson; and two brothers, Clayton Roberts and Donald Roberts.
    Mr. Roberts is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Hall Roberts; a son, Steven Lloyd Roberts (Teresa Hardin) of Lexington; three grandchildren: Kaitlin Roberts, Taylor Roberts, and Corie Roberts; a sister, Dora Winkle of Irvine; two brothers: Paul Lee “Red” Roberts (Charlotte) of Irvine, and Wayne Roberts (Susi) of Lexington; and many loving nieces and nephews.
    Lloyd was born in Leighton, Kentucky on April 10th, 1930. He graduated from Estill County High School in 1949. After high school, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and later the United States Air Force in 1949. He served 22 years active duty in various locations all over the world, including two tours in Korea and one in Vietnam. Following his return from Vietnam, Lloyd retired from the Air Force and served various positions in Estill County, including working for Carhartt and managing the Kentucky Fried Chicken. Several years later, Lloyd returned to work for the United States Government at the Avon Army Depot, where he retired after eight years of service.
    Lloyd was a Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Papa, Uncle and Friend. He was a man of strong faith and was a devoted member of his church, South Irvine Christian, where he was an elder. He was a member of the Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club and a Kentucky Colonel. Lloyd could talk to anyone and enjoyed long conversation and just being around people. He was a friend to anyone and everyone. Lloyd loved music and singing; many of us will always remember his constant humming and whistling as he went about his day, just like his father.
    Visitation was held at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Family arrived at 5:00 p.m,; all other guests were welcomed from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed in the South Irvine Cemetery.
    The family has asked all donations to be sent to South Irvine Christian Church (310 Lincoln Avenue, Irvine, Kentucky 40336) in care of Betty Roberts; The Compassionate Care Center of Richmond, Kentucky in Lloyd’s name; or The Wounded Warriors Project.
    Pallbearers were Jeff Hall, Taylor Roberts, Kent Hall, Bobby Dawes, Philip Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Winfred Winkle, II, and Jamie Winkle.
    Honorary pallbearers were Donald Hall, Winfred Winkle, Bill Marcum, Anthony Neal, Justin Albright and Scott Isaacs.

Betty Frances Tipton Gregory

    Betty Frances Tipton Gregory, age 87, a much-loved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019.
    She was born January 17, 1932 in Estill County, Kentucky, but moved to Dayton, Ohio from Ravenna with her parents and siblings. She worked for Inland for 30 plus years. Betty loved to play cards and attend family gatherings. Her greatest joy was her family.
    Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Stormy and Annie "Clay" Profitt Tipton; her siblings, Beverly "Tip", Vernon and Randall "Randy" Tipton.
    She is survived by her children, Steven Barnhart, Cheryl Derstine (Wayne), Joseph Gregory (Jody) and Scott Gregory; eight grandchildren: Melinda "Mindy" Barnhart, Ronda Barnhart-Munge, Bryan Derstine, Nathan Derstine, Cheyenna Gregory, Kiwana Moore, Tricia Moore, Tiffany Hintz; four great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren; two sisters: Ruby Meyer and Imogene Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    A celebration of life will be held from 4:30 - 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Dayton Firefighters' Hall at 3616 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio.
    Her ashes will be placed with her parents and brothers on May 2, 2020 in the Crowe Family Cemetery on Tipton Ridge in Ravenna, Kentucky.

    Linda Carol Estes Riley, age 69, Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    Linda was born February 10, 1950, in Oneida, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ola Mae Farler Estes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ida May Bible Church and had a close personal relationship with God. She adored her family; she loved spending time with her children and grandbabies. She loved cooking for them and especially laughing with them.
    Mrs. Riley is survived by two sons: Allen Burton Riley and Chopper Riley (Mary Lou), both of Beattyville; a daughter, Kimberly Charles (Tim) of Irvine; two brothers: Bobby Joe Estes (Pearl) and Sammy Lee Estes (Gladys), both of Beattyville; one sister, Patty Ann Combs (AJ) of Beattyville; severn grandchildren: Trevor, Dylan, Tory, Matthew, Boone, Shelbi and Aaliegha; one great grandchild, Ava; and many other loving family members and friends.
    Along with her parents, Virgil and Ola Mae, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Burton Riley.
    Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, 3450 Ky Hwy 11 North, Booneville, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Colburn officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Riley Cemetery, located in the Delvinta Community of Lee County.

Franklin Douglas Brown

    Franklin Douglas Brown, age 77, husband of Lillian Marsh Brown, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at University of Kentucky Hospice Center in Lexington.
    He was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 19, 1942 to the late Roscoe and Gladys Walters Brown. The family later lived at Cressy in Estill County. He was a former employee of Clark Rural Electric and was a real estate broker, appraiser, auctioneer and owner of Frank Brown Realty. He was a past Master of Masonic Lodge 20/943 with 50 years of membership. He was a veteran of the Kentucky National Guard, serving six years in the guard.
    In addition to his loving wife of 54 years he is survived by one daughter, Carol Parker (Carl); one son, James Brown (Anga); six grandchildren: Chris Parker (Katie), Claire Abshire (Brenton), Ryder Brown, Turner Brown, Baylor Brown and Major Brown; six great grandchildren: Lily Parker, Delaney Parker, Ellis Parker, Jackson Parker, Asher Abshire and Maxwell Abshire; two sisters: Wanda Shindeldecker and Sharon Haynes; two brothers-in-law: Harry Marsh (Rita) and Richard Marsh (Linda); one sister-in-law, Naomi Horn; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Brown; his sister, Janet Witt Elliott; and his brothers-in-law, Ervon Gregory, Dan Shindeldecker, Earl Haynes, Harold Horn and Tom Marsh.
    Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the Winchester Cemetery at the Glen White Shelter by Reverend Ryan Bradney. Visitation will be Tuesday, 10:00 AM until the service.
    Pallbearers will be Chris Parker, Brenton Abshire, Ryder Brown, Turner Brown, Baylor Brown and Major Brown.

    Rev. Forest Harrison, age 89 of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, formerly of Stanton, went to be with his Lord, Friday, December 27, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side
    He was born February 11, 1930 in Irvine, Kentucky, to Vannie and Julia Stevens Harrison.
    Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Mildred Napier of Stanton; three sons: James Harrison (Vilma) of Mt. Sterling, Stephen Harrison (Betty) of Stanton, and Lewis Harrison of Falmouth; a daughter, Wanda Carol Hill (Charles), Falmouth; 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 24 great, great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Lee Harrison; a granddaughter, Brandy Rocklin; a great grandson, Brandon Roach; five brothers: Roy, Cegal, Cecil, Weldon and Wayne Harrison; and a sister, Lillian Withers.
    Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Camargo Unity Freewill Baptist Church, 4122 Camargo Road, Mount Sterling, with Bro. Chris Colley officiating.     Toledo Glenn Newman, age 64, of Dixie Plaza in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Baptist Health Lexington following a long illness.
    He was born June 6, 1955 in Madison County and was the son of the late Claude and Mary Elizabeth Bailey Newman. He served in the United States Marines and was a retired RV repairman. He had lived in Madison County most of his life.
    Mr. Newton is survived by two sisters, Helen Martin, Madison County; and Martha Horn, Estill County; and two brothers: Johnny Ray Newman, Estill County; and Ronald Newman, Laurel County.
    He was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Faye Cole, Freide Mae Vanderpool, and Margie Ann Ramey; and three brothers: Ernest Gene Newman, James Paul Newman and Claude Newman, Jr.
    No services are scheduled.

    She was preceded in death by three brothers: Colletties Walton, Jr., Mark Walton and Daniel Walton.

    Daniel Hunter Webster, age 72, of Shirdell Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington following a long illness.
    He was born September 28, 1947 in Whittier, California and was the son of the late John F. and Anne Terhune Webster. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a retired Computrex employee. He was a member of the Ravenna Church of God.
    Mr. Webster is survived by his wife, Lois Brinegar Webster; two daughters: Holly Morris, Anderson County and Kelly Webster, Powell County; one son, Mark Webster, Powell County; two stepsons: Douglas Gerald, Estill County; and Aaron Gerald - Madison County; three sisters: Cindi Nave, Russell County; Melanie Burton, Florida; and Emily Hall, Fayette County; one brother, John Webster, Fayette County; and nine grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held Monday, December 30, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at the Ravenna Church of God.

    She was born June 10, 1934 in Clark County, Kentucky, to J. Scott and Mable Brooks Talbott, Sr.
    Ms. Kirkwood is survived by a daughter Cheri Black (David); two granddaughters: Brooks Ann Ecton and Sarah Frances Taylor, both of Irvine; a grandson, David Kirkwood I (Alex), Winchester; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William Allen Eckler

    William Allen Eckler, age 84, of North Madison in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born December 29, 1934 in Estill County and was the son of the late Francis Blaine Eckler and Alice Marie Shearer Eckler. He retired from Puckett Ford Garage and he was a member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was the founder of the Calvary Heirs Quartet. He was an Irvine City Councilman for 38 years and served in the National Guard. He lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Eckler is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edra Murphy Eckler.
    He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Blevins (Todd), Irvine; one son, Bill Eckler, II (Bonnie), Berea; one brother, John Eckler (Donna), Harrodsburg; four grandchildren: Adam Benton (Amber), Brett Benton (Dana), Evan Eckler (Lindsey), Emily Ecker, Chelsea Duff, and Cody Duff (Jessica); and six great grandchildren: Bekka Brooks, Sullivan and Adalyne Benton, Ellie and Asher Eckler, and Kayson Duff.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Bob Eckler.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 28, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church by Todd Blevins, Evan Eckler, and Brett Benton. Burial followed in the West Irvine Cemetery. Friends called after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, until service time at the church.

    Sandra Sue Clark, age 74, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at her home in Frankfort, Kentucky.
    She was a native of Hamilton, Ohio, born September 29, 1945, the daughter of the late Ada House.
    Ms. Clark was preceded in death by a brother, James House.
    Survivors include her daughters: Sandra Pearson, Ada Young, and Renaye Merrill (Mark Kirby); her grandchildren: Savanna Butcher, James Butcher, Jesse Butcher, Johnathon Kirby, Kourtney Kirby, Steven Ross, Patricia Young, and Todd Clark; nine great grandchildren; her brother, Fred House (Lois); and her sister, Juanita Combs.

Gladys Shuler Bellamy

    Gladys Shuler Bellamy, daughter of the late Walter and Molly McIntosh Shuler was born in Lee County, Kentucky on March 25, 1940 and departed this life in Beattyville, Kentucky on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
    She is survived by her three children, Kathy Moreland of Beattyville, Susan Rogers of Stanton and Canas Rueben Bellamy (Krystal) of Hamilton, Ohio; several grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Wofford of Peru, Indiana; Irene York of Beattyville; and Edna Shuler of Irvine; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Gladys was preceded in death by one son, Paul Douglas Bellamy; and two brothers, Lonnie and James Shuler.
    Services will be scheduled at at later date.
