Effie Mae Willis Johnson, 88

Effie Mae Willis Johnson, age 88, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, after a short illness.
She was born in Estill County, Kentucky on February 15, 1932 to the late Dewey and Linda Plymon Willis. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and enjoyed tending her garden and quilting. She was a member of the Union City Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Lou Brandenburg (David); her sons, Jimmie Cecil Johnson and Virgil Johnson Jr. (Christine); two brothers, Deward Willis (Alma) and Hympsel Willis (Catherine); five sisters, Mindy Rose(Donald), Lizzie Ann Rose (Finley), Lorene Rose, Florence Rose (Kenneth), and Cornell Overby (Martin); four grandchildren, Todd Aaron Brandenburg (Kelly), Alan Scott Brandenburg (Kindra), Paige Nicole Greer (Travis), and Andrea Michelle Johnson; and one great grandchild, Addison Paige Brandenburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Johnson; one son, Benny Johnson; one daughter, Margaret Johnson; two brothers and three sisters.
Private services will be held with burial to follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Judy Lane Tipton Profitt, 61

Judy Lane Tipton Profitt, age 61, of Irvine, Kentucky, entered into her heavenly home on Friday, April 3, 2020, after a long illness.
She was born June 10, 1958 to the late James Rabbit Tipton and Mary Francis Brinegar Tipton. She was a member of Body of Christ Ministries and lived in Estill County all her life. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, nana, and friend to many. She retired from the Estill County Health Department after 43 years of service to a community and people she loved. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. She was a member of DAV Auxiliary.
Mrs. Profitt is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lanny Glenn Profitt; a daughter, Lana Marie Profitt; a son, Joseph Glen Profitt (Jessica); four grandchildren, Landon and Alyvia Curtis, Morgan Hamilton, and Lance Moore; two sisters: Teresa Covey and Sheila Fleming (Joe); one brother, Ricky Tipton (Tammy, who was a sister too, not just a sister-in-law); several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Gail Profitt Hamilton.
She will be laid to rest with her parents and daughter at the Old Homeplace Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Lillie Harris Chasteen, age 85, of Irvine, Kentucky, died suddenly Monday, March 30, 2020.
She was born in Irvine on October 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Jess and Addie Harris. Lillie was a housekeeper before retirement, a member of the Baptist Faith and had been a resident of Irvine most of her life.
Survivors include four children, Margie Garrett, Larry Williams, Joey Williams and Donnie Williams; ten grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
To carry out her wishes, Lillie was cremated, and no service is scheduled at this time.

Joyce Ann Stewart, 60

Joyce Ann Stewart, age 60, of Irvine Road in the Mina Station Community of Clark County, Kentucky, widow of Raymond "Mac" Stewart passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
She was born August 20, 1959 in Clark County to the late David Brock and Edna Ruth Allen Brock.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Christina Martin (Richard); her son, Anthony Lloyd Wells; seven grandchildren: Joetta and Richard A Martin; Dakota and Anthony Wells II; Wyatt, Jackson and Liam Wells; a sister Glenna Doughty (Richard); a brother, James David Brock (Stephanie); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and father, she is preceded in death by a sister, Linda McVey.
Due to COVID-19 Virus, a private graveside service will be Saturday at Boonesboro Cemetery.

Blanche Alcorn, 79

Blanche Alcorn, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 1:13 p.m. at UK Albert Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Blanche was born at home on May 3, 1940 to John and Mary V. Rawlins of Irvine, Kentucky.
She married Sherman Alcorn on December 7, 1957. They had three children together: Floyd Henry, Sherman David, and Ronald Edward.
Blanche will reunite with many of her loved ones as she joins Jesus. Those loved ones include her husband, Sherman, brothers: JB Rawlins, Dan Rawlins (Irene), Jim Rawlins, John Rawlins, Doug Rawlins (Naomi), and Hargus Rawlins (Connie); and sisters: Rose McKinney, Edna Hopkins, Bess Winkler, and Alice Winkler (Raymond).
Survivors include her three sons: Floyd Alcorn, Sherman David Alcorn (Angela), both of Irvine, and Ronald Alcorn (Kristina) of East Peoria, Illinois. This also includes her honorary son, James McKinney (Janet) of Franklin, Ohio. Also surviving are three sisters: Daphne Alcorn (Earl) of Carlisle, Ohio; Golden Turner (Tom) of Miamisburg, Ohio; and Irene Lay (Doyle) of Lexington. Blanche has eight grandchildren: Crystal Alcorn, Meagan Alcorn, John Alcorn, Ashley Townsend (Jason), Kaytlin Alcorn, Cortney Mitchell, Tiffany Alcorn, and Jeramie Alcorn. She has 12 great grandchildren.
Blanche worked for a short time at the paper mill in Miamisburg, Ohio. She also worked as a Caregiver. Her family was her number one priority in life. She enjoyed visiting with her family, gardening, writing songs, singing and cooking. One of her favorite things to do was see how people reacted to how fabulous her cooking was. Blanche could make anything taste good. She also took pleasure in reading her Bible and discussing her faith in the Lord.
Private services will be conducted.

Nikita Glendon Carroll Flinchum, 34

Nikita Glendon Carroll Flinchum, age 34, of Irvine, Kentucky, died Monday, March 23, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He was a life-long resident of Irvine, born May 1, 1985, the son of Judy Carroll Dailey and Gregory Flinchum. Nikita was a factory worker in the Auto Industry, enjoyed race cars and was a dirt track racing enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Angel Hall Flinchum; three daughters, Maggie, Sara and Christina; and three siblings, Jack Dailey, Frank Dailey and Elizabeth Darland.
In accordance with the executive order by the Governor of Kentucky and guidelines set forth by the CDC due to the Corona Virus outbreak, private burial was chosen.

Bobbie Jean Williams Johnson, 86

Bobbie Jean Williams Johnson, the fourth of ten siblings was born August 19, 1933 to Vina Puckett and Amos Clay Williams. She and her family resided on a picturesque knoll overlooking the Kentucky River in Irvine, Kentucky until the flood of 1937 took their home and all of their earthly possessions. The family then relocated to Railroad Street where she lived until she married Gene Johnson in 1953. From this union were three children; Robert “Skip” 1954, Richard Lee 1956, and Patricia Rae 1960.
Bobbie was a stay at home mom until her youngest entered school. She then took a job as an aide at Irvine Grade School where her co-workers recognized her intrinsic teaching abilities. They encouraged her to enroll in college - which she did after obtaining her GED. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a teaching certificate in Elementary Education grades 1-8. During the summer months between school years she gave swimming lessons and tutored in Reading. She retired from the Estill County Board of Education with 20 years of service. After retirement she lived at Doe Creek on a knoll overlooking the Kentucky River at lock 12.
Bobbie departed this earth on March 30, 2020 at her residence, Lee County Care and Rehab, Beattyville, Kentucky.
She is survived by one son Robert “Skip” Johnson; one brother; Wayne Griffin of Richmond; one sister, Glenda Wiseman of Irvine; four grandchildren: Robby Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Jessica Johnson, and Chris Hobbs; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard; her daughter, Patty; two brothers: Amos Williams and Melvin Williams; and five sisters: Dorothy Fern Williams, Mae Ross, Roxie Roundtree, Edith Dozier, and Marcella Cooper.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Roberta “Bert” Henry McIntosh, 82

Roberta “Bert” Henry McIntosh, 82, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
She was born on March 29, 1938 to the late Bert and Carrie “Lillian” (Cox) Henry. She was retired from U.S. Shoe Corporation.
Bert is survived by her three children, a daughter, Lillian McIntosh, Alexandria; a son, Mike McIntosh, Newport; and a daughter, Cheryl McIntosh Mattrella, Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren: Michelle Hamilton, Lexington; Brittany Mattrella, Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Jacob Mattrella, Atlanta, Georgia; Jeffrey McIntosh, Alexandria; and Samantha McIntosh, Florence; and a great grandson, Dylan Hamilton, Georgetown. She is also survived by her five siblings, Judy Winkler, Lexington; Wilma Canamar, Florence; Danny Henry (Phyllis), Cross Plains, Tennessee; Louis Gentes, Florence; Darrel Gilbert (Helen), Jacksonville, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bert will be missed by all including her beloved Yorkie-Poo, Gracie.
Bert was born in Covington, Kentucky, and spent her childhood and teen years in Estill and Kenton County.
She met her husband in Northern Kentucky while visiting relatives, and they were married after he returned from serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Together they raised their three children in Campbell County. Bert enjoyed reading, gardening, yard sales, camping, fishing and bingo. She was also a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan, cheering them on to many victories. Bert enjoyed reminiscing with her family about past times, but, especially those times spent with her siblings.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date after the COVID-19 precautions are lifted. The family will provide further information once it becomes available.

Billy Joe McDonald, 56

Billy Joe McDonald, age 56, of Doe Run Drive in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, in Frenchburg as the result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born January 26, 1964 in Estill County and was the son of Doris Angela Mausbach Wagner and the late Lowell L. McDonald. He was a contractor and a member of the Pea Ridge Holiness Church. He enjoyed all outdoor sports and was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his son who served as a United States Marine.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Julie Ann Fread McDonald; one son, Michael J. McDonald (Hanna), North Carolina; one sister, Tonya Patterson (T.K.), Alabama; and five brothers: Garry McDonald, California; Peter McDonald, Estill County; Robert McDonald, California; Jimmy McDonald, and Bobby McDonald, both of Alabama.
Private services were held Thursday, April 2, 2020, at the Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Nannie Kate Means McElroy, 62, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
She was born in Clark County, Kentucky on November 15, 1957 to the late Orbin and Lola Hale Means.
Survivors include her husband, Donald McElroy; her children, Kenneth McElroy (Phylisha) and Lola Mixon (Robbie); her brothers, Bruce, Hubert, Wendell and Bev Means; her sisters, Vickie Singleton, Bernice Henderson, and Mary Hurt; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, Roger and Steve Allen Means.
Due to current government restrictions concerning COVID-19, the family has selected private services with burial to follow in the College Hill Cemetery.

Freddie Joe Reeves, Sr., 72

Freddie Joe Reeves, Sr., age 72, of Richmond Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
He was born June 27, 1947 in Perry County and was the son of the late Carlis and Lelia Price Reeves. He was a retired CSX employee and a member of the Ravenna Church of God. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife, Edna Louise Slone Reeves; one daughter, Michelle Baker (Jack), Ohio; four sons: Michael Slone (Eden), Nicholasville; Freddie Reeves, Jr., Richmond; Kenneth Reeves and James Reeves, both of Estill County; one sister, Faye Spicer, Georgia; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Geraldine Noland, age 76, of Wagersville Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
She was born November 2, 1943 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Curtiss and Hannah Ross. She was a retired Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital employee and enjoyed oil painting. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Ms. Noland is survived by one daughter, Jannette McGreal, Estill County; and one grandchild, Courtney McGreal.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Noland; and three siblings: Billie Easter, Quinton Ross and Junior Ross.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Everett Arthur, Jr, age 70, of Howell Hollow in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020, at his home following a long illness.
He was born May 12, 1949 in Estill County and was the son of the late Everett and Myrtle Lee Crowe Arthur. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
Mr. Arthur is survived by his wife, Sandra McManus; two step-children: Allison Conner and Adam McManus, both of Madison County; two daughters-in-law: Hannah McManus and Jennifer McManus; six brothers: Fred, Wallace, Cornelius, Earl, Linville and H.M. Arthur, all of Estill County and four grandchildren: Amber Tevis, Megan McManus, Addison Conner and Etta Lynn McManus.
He was preceded in death by two step-sons: Shawn and Jeremy McManus; two brothers: Gerald and Frank Arthur; and a sister, Geneva Arthur.
Private services were conducted Saturday, March 28, 2020. Burial was at the Crowe Cemetery.

Randall Shumate, age 72, of Rose Ridge in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Lee County Nursing Home in Beattyville, following a long illness.
He was born December 13, 1947 in Estill County and was the son of the late Cecil Shumate and Fairry Rose Warner. He was a retired truck driver with Dennis Transportation and a member of the Bethel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mr. Shumate is survived by his son, Randy Shumate (Becky), Estill County; one sister, Alice Faye Houston, Georgetown; one half-brother, Roger Dale Warner, Estill County; two grandchildren: Chris Miller and Robin Brooks; and five great grandchildren: Cameron Miller, Trista Miller, Timothy Miller, Kiley Brooks and Madeline Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Roy Shumate.
Private services were conducted.
Burial was in the Richardson Cemetery.
