Mearlon Frances Foutch Galloway

    Mearlon Frances Foutch Galloway, age 77, gained her angel wings on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Marcum & Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
    Born March 26, 1943 in Harlan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Enoch and Elizabeth Dixon Foutch. She was a lifetime resident of Harlan/Letcher Counties, except for the past 2 ½ years when she lived with her daughter in Estill County.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Morgan Sherrill Galloway; her brothers, Rodney Foutch, Arthur William "Butch" Foutch, Cecil Foutch, and Enoch Foutch, Jr.; one sister, Daisy Foutch Hernandez; and her former husband, Morgan Galloway.
    She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Galloway Neal (Barry) of Irvine; by her son, James Merrill Galloway (Heather) of Partridge, Kentucky; and also by the son that she raised, Rodney Shane Foutch (Ashley) of Lynch. She is also survived by three grandchildren whom she absolutely loved and adored: Allee Brooke Galloway, Jadelyn Sherryl Neal, and Eastin Cruz Galloway. In addition, she is survived by one brother, Leonard and Bobbie Jo Foutch of Cumberland; one sister, Rosa Foster of Bethalto, Illinois; and her loving caregiver and friend, Geraldine Puckett, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
    Along with being a devoted mother and caregiver to many others in her family through the years, she was a retired high school teacher at Cumberland High School. She positively influenced many students through the years with her devotion to them as evidenced by many who share stories and claim that she was their favorite teacher. She was a member of the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, but in the past few years had attended church with her children and grandchildren at Cumberland Pentecostal Church and Eastside Community Church in Richmond, Kentucky.
    Mearlon’s visitation will be held Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Cumberland Pentecostal Church from 12:00 Noon - 3:00 p.m., with the funeral beginning at 3:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at the Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Cumberland. Rev. Mike Blair will conduct the services. The pallbearers are Mitchell Galloway, James Sparks, Ronnie Riddell, Trae Burns, Jake Jackson and Walter Craig.
    Due to the mandates by the Governor of Kentucky, all attendees are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

Wanda Mills White

    Wanda Mills White, 73, wife of Titus Lonzo White, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her home.
    She was born in Powell County, Kentucky, on May 25, 1947, to Roy Mills and the late Mary Patrick Mills. She was retired from Avon.
    In addition to her husband of 34 years, she is survived by two children, Harold Jones (Stephanie) and Trina Tucker; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her mother; two sons, Bryan White and Ronnie Jones; and a sister, Virgie Curtis.
    Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Winchester Cemetery by Pastor Lonnie Storms. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the cemetery.

Chester Stamper

    Chester Stamper, age 61, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
    He was born February 20, 1959 in Beattyville, a son to the late Odell and Modenna Reece Stamper Turner.
    Chester is survived by two brothers: George Stamper (Helen) of Winchester, and Homer Stamper (Melissa) of Frankfort; one sister, Reva Rogers (Omer) of Beattyville; one step-brother; Roger Turner (Melissa) of Beattyville; three step-sisters: Joyce Thomas (Tony), and Fay Cockerham (Don), both of Irvine; and Brenda Dale (Willie) of Paris, Kentucky; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other loving family members, and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Johnny Stamper; and one sister, Francis Stamper.
    Graveside Services were held Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Beatty Place Cemetery in the Yellow Rock Community with funeral services following a brief visitation. Chester was laid to rest at the Beatty Place Cemetery.

    Mary Ann Pittman, age 53, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at her residence in Waco, Kentucky.
    Born December 2, 1966 in Campton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Helen Gross Sparks, and she attended Gloryland Baptist Church in Richmond.
    Mrs. Pittman is survived by her husband, Berry Pittman of Waco; two daughters, Kristen Pittman and Amanda Pittman, both of Richmond; one brother, Russell Sparks Jr. of Jackson; and five sisters: Anita Stepp of Berea; Donna Metzger, Brenda Combs, Connie Watts, and Eva Watts, all of Jackson.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mamie Carol Gordon Clark

    Mamie Carol Gordon Clark, age 68, of Calera, Alabama, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 26, 2020 at her residence.
    She was born in Berea, Kentucky on January 16, 1951, the daughter of the late Herman Gordon and the late Mamie Scenters Gordon. She lived many years of her early life in Estill County and attended Hargett Elementary.
    Carol was a homemaker. She loved her family very much. She enjoyed singing and worshiping her Lord, and her family is comforted in knowing that she is now singing and praising in his presence.
    She is survived by one son, Tony Means (Cindy) of Thorsby, Alabama; one daughter, Connie Jarvis (Kenneth) of Clanton, Alabama; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Hargus Gordon of Irvine; two sisters: Barbara Dennis and Dessie Isaacs, both of Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
    Mrs. Clark is preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas W. Clark and Paul Culp; her parents, Herman and Mamie Gordon; two brothers, Douglas Gordon and Travis Gordon; and a sister, Doretta Barnes.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shelby Memory Gardens Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home, 8586 AL-25 in Calera, Alabama with Rev. James Simpson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Shelby Memory Garden.

Janet Richardson Asher

    Janet Richardson Asher, age 82, wife of Howard Asher, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Baptist Health Richmond.
    She was born October 22, 1938 in Estill County, Kentucky, to the late Luther and Eudell Richardson. Mrs. Asher had worked at Berea Hospital as a nursing and pharmacy aide. She loved to cross stitch and was a member of the cross-stitch world on Facebook. She loved to sew, reading her bible, fishing, was an avid U.K. fan, she loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren; also loved to laugh and enjoy life to its fullest. Mrs. Asher was of the Baptist faith.
    Other than her husband Mrs. Asher is survived by her children, John Meeks of Richmond; Kristi Eudell Wren, Christopher Wren, Mitchell Wren, all of Berea; and Tiffany Tipton of Waco, Kentucky; a step-daughter, Sandra Hammock of Nicholasville; one brother, Luther Richardson Jr. of Irvine; a sister, Sharon Richardson of Belleview; eight grandchildren, John David Meeks, Branden Meeks, Kelli Meeks, Jonna Beth Arvin, Tiffany Tipton, Heavenly Janet Horn, William Ray Spears, and Clara Raelyn Saylor; and six great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home, 616 Chestnut Street, Berea, with Rev. Jonas Hill officiating. Entombment will follow in the Berea Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday October 28th at the funeral home.

Margaret Ann Brockman

    Margaret Ann Brockman, age 66, wife of Sherman Brockman passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Baptist Health in Lexington.
    She was born September 14, 1954 in Berea, Kentucky, to the late Virgil and Ollie VanWinkle Anglin. Mrs. Brockman was a homemaker; she loved going to church and spending time with her family, especially her grand babies; they were her world. She also enjoyed listening to music of all kinds but Gene Watson was her favorite. Mrs. Brockman was of the Holiness faith.
    Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Berry Lee Lamb, and William Lamb.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Loretta Burgess (Michael) of Berea; four grandchildren, Heather Miller, Marlana Miller, David Burgess, and Travis Burgess; along with several nieces, nephews and friends who also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. Erman Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Red Lick Cemetery. Visitation was 5-9 p.m., Monday, October 26th at the funeral home.

Angela Jewel Robbins Carter

    Angela Jewel Robbins Carter, age 71, died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at her residence in Irvine, Kentucky.
    Born March 16, 1949 in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Frank and Alvina Jewel Abney Robbins. Ms. Carter attended the University of Kentucky and was an accountant who had been employed at Transylvania University and the Federal Government.
    She is survived by her siblings, Brenda Brandenburg, Rebecca Estes, Norma Williams, Dena Gilvin, Carolyn Turner (Joey), Gwendolyn Barton (Clay), Pamela Isaccs and Alvin Robbins (Linda); and 29 nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents and one sibling, she is preceded in death by a son, Glenn Carter, Jr.
    Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

    Raven Denson Rogers, age 80, husband of Ava Case Rogers, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
    He was born October 29, 1939, to the late George Otis and Hildreth Spencer Rogers. He was a United States Army Veteran.
    Survivors include his wife, Ava Rogers; a daughter, Melissa Henning (Dwayne); two sons: David Rogers and Chris Rogers (Callie); grandchildren, Shea Bartlett (Mike), Nash Henning, Dylan Ginn, Brennan Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Elisabeth Jo Bishop, and Tucker Bishop; brothers, James Rogers (Charlene), Tom Rogers, Cebert Rogers (Jane), Carlos Rogers (Linda), Eldon Rogers, Goble Rogers (Carol), Mike Rogers (Kathy), and Ray Rogers (Carolyn); and a sister, Nannie Moreland (Randolph).
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Rogers.

    Born November 5, 1932 in Lee County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Gracie Ross and a member of the Crooked Creek Christian Church. She was a retired school teacher from South Irvine Elementary School and a 60-year member of Eastern Star.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hearl Harris; and one brother, Raymond Ross.
    Kelcie is survived by her daughter, Joyce Christopher (Randall) of Irvine; two grandchildren: Kyle Christopher (Kelly) and Blake Christopher; and one great grandchild, Katelyn Ann Christopher.

    Evelyn Dawes Griffin, age 94, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Irvine nursing home.
    Born August 24, 1926 in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William and Rachel Dawes and a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church. Evelyn was a retired cook from the Estill County High School.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Griffin, and two children, Larry and Carolyn Griffin.
    Evelyn is survived by her son, Ben Griffin Jr.; her daughter, Alma Richardson; two brothers, Floyd and Robert Dawes; two sisters, Mattie Johnson and Elizabeth Hardy; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

    Phillip Robin Neal, Sr., age 58, of Ridgewood Drive in Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
    He was born April 11, 1962 in Estill County and was the son of the late Chilton Neal, Jr. and Carol Faye Baber Neal. He was a truck driver with the Big G Express. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the AmVets.
    Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Teresa Lynn Smith Neal; one son, Phillip Robin Neal, Jr., Ohio; two stepchildren: Madison Brooke Botkins and Thomas John Botkins, Jr., both of Lexington; one brother, Kevin Curt Neal (Rhonda), Estill County; three grandchildren: Haylee Nicole Neal, Hollie Elizabeth Neal and Benjamin Ali Neal; two nieces: Mandy Richelle Neal and Maggie Neal Kessler (Jamey); and two nephews: Christopher Lee Estes (Angie) and Brenton Estes (Courtney).
    He was preceded in death by his sister, Holly Estes.

Hallie Frances Wolfinbarger

    Hallie Frances Wolfinbarger, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
    She was born in Estill County on April 27,1935.
    Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Wolfinbarger; parents Lutie Dalton and Robert Hunt; two sisters: Della Woosley and Nancy Fox; and a great grandson, Dalton Peters.
    She is survived by her children, Gary Wolfinbarger (Gricelda) and Reda Sizemore (Terrill); five grandchildren: Michelle Wolfinbarger, Melissa Patrick (Woody), Christian Serrato (Kacie), Angie Ahrens (Bryant), and Phil Sizemore (Karmen); six great grandchildren and two sisters: Pat Pasley (Leon) and Louise Walters (David).
    A member of the Irvine First Church Of God for many years, Frances was a devout Christian. She loved her family profoundly and lived for music-filled gatherings on the carport. Ever the caregiver, Frances spent many years baby-sitting her grandchildren and children of friends and neighbors. At her happiest, Frances was hosting a house full of family; laughter filling the kitchen as she cooked and baked for those she loved. While her family and friends will miss her dearly, we know that our loss is Heaven's gain. She has been reunited with her love of 49 years and is watching over those of us she has left behind.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Glen Sizemore will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Irvine First Church Of God. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the Church.     Harold Lovin was born March 30, 1931 to Henry and Stella (nee Powell) Lovin and passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the age of 89.
    He is survived by his children, Linda Smith, Betty Bell (Todd Hawkins), Clyde Lovin, and Larry Lovin (Karen); grandchildren, Tina Reichert, Michael Smith, Jennifer Stacey, Tammy, Kelly, Christy Fightmaster, David Lovin, Amanda Means, Sarah Saunders, Jamie, Dustin, Timmy Lovin, Tabitha Nelson and Brandon Lovin; and numerous great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harold Wayne Lovin; and two brothers, Odie Lovin and James Lovin.

Phillip Wayne Hackworth

    Phillip Wayne Hackworth, age 61, of Richmond, Ky. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Phillip was born on September 19, 1959 to David Hackworth and Judy Hale Hackworth. He was the grandson of the late Uri Allen and Mattie Barnes Hackworth and Bud and Effie Sparks Hale.
    He worked on farms for most of his life. He loved to go camping, fishing, and gigging with his nephews. He was of the Baptist faith.
    Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, David and Judy; two brothers, Owen and David Curtis; and the love of his life, his wife, Emma Rose Hackworth.
    He is survived by his daughter, Kendra Shanks, whom he considered his own; one brother, Allen Hackworth (Shirley); one sister, Tammie Combs (Al); one special friend, Alan Shanks; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
    Visitation for Phillip was from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. A graveside committal service in the Richmond Cemetery immediately followed visitation.
    Pallbearers were Justin Turner, Tyler Jones, Brian Shanks, Lionel Shanks, Adam Shanks, and Alan Shanks.

Kelvin Thomas Phillips

    Kelvin Thomas Phillips, age 48, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington following a sudden illness.
    He was born September 29, 1972 in Mercer County and was the son of Wesley Thomas Phillips and the late Linda Carolyn Scott Phillips. He was a welder and a member of the Bruners Chapel Baptist Church. He was a wonderful Dad, a hard worker and was very loved by everyone who knew him. He was generous in life as he was in death through organ donation, and several lives will be changed because of his selflessness.
    Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Richele Kaye Raider Phillips; two daughters: Katlyn Phillips, Frankfort; and Kaylee Phillips, Irvine; three sons: James Johnson (Emily), Chris Johnson, and Wesley R. Phillips, all of Irvine; two grandchildren: Tinley Johnson and Zayah Johnson; his father & mother-in-law: Richard & Charlotte Raider, Ravenna; siblings: Roby Raider, Ryan Raider, and Ricky Raider (Brandy), all of Ravenna; nieces and nephews: Skyler & Blake Raider, Landon Baskin, and Mason & John Raider; and many friends and other relatives.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 24, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at the Emmanuel Baptist Church by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial was at the Sparks Cemetery. Friends called between 6 and 9 p.m., Friday, October 23rd at the Church.

Hazel Patrick

    Hazel Patrick, age 96, a resident of the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Center following a long illness.
    She was born October 10, 1924 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mina Flinchum Crawford. She was retired from Camp Burnamwood where she worked as a cook. Hazel also cooked at Hargett Elementary School. She attended the Presbyterian Church and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Patrick.
    Survivors include one daughter, Linda Darlene Johnson, Estill County; one son, Marvin Patrick, Estill County; four grandchildren: Teresa Cole (Dennis), Lisa Johnson (Glenn), Stephanie West (Lynn) and Justin Patrick (Heather); and six great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Jennings Patrick and ten siblings.
    Visitation for the public was held Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted afterwards at the funeral home chapel by Donnie Watson. Burial was at the Patrick Cemetery.

Ruth Ann Kearns

    Ruth Ann Kearns, age 77, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Baptist Health in Richmond after a short illness.
    She was born in Hazel Green in Wolfe County but lived in Estill County most of her life. She retired from the VA Hospital where she worked as a switchboard operator for many years. She also worked at Carhartt for many years as well. Kentucky River Foothills was also a place of employment that she held very dear to her heart.
    Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lena Lane Taulbee VanCleve; and a brother, Jesse Raymond VanCleve.
    She was survived by two daughters: Cheryl Hill (Bobby Welch) and Donna Kearns; and her son, Chris Kearns (Rachel). Ruth Ann was also survived by two brothers: William Carter VanCleve (Anna Ruth) and Rondell VanCleve; as well as seven grandsons: Kaleb Estes, Elijah Stevenson, Devan Doty, Andrew Doty, Lane Doty, Owen Kearns, and Noah Kearns; and a great grandson, James Russell Doty. She also has a very special niece Tina VanCleve Hix (Jeff).
    A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon with service to follow at 1:00 p.m. for all family and friends.

David Howard "Speedy" Brewer

    David Howard "Speedy" Brewer, age 78, passed away on October 19, 2020 at his residence in Bowen, Kentucky.
    Born in Campton, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thomas and Olive Fultz Brewer and a member of West Bend First Church of God. He was a former employee of Hobart Manufacturing and Continental Metal Specialty.
    In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas "Rennie" Brewer and Charles Brewer; and three sisters, Eva Fox, Katherine Landrum and June Brewer.
    He is survived by his son, Don Dwayne Brewer (Kim) of Irvine; special daughters, Janice Campbell and Marco (James) McKinney of Stanton; two grandchildren, Savannah Brewer and Nicholas Brewer; and three brothers, Wayne Brewer, Arnold "Reed" Brewer and Kenny Brewer.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. James Harold Combs and Bro. Kenny Brewer will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton. Visitation begins at 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 23rd at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in Stonegate Cemetery with Jay Townsend, James McKinney, Bob Fauste, Bobby Fauste, Mike Martin and Nicholas Brewer serving as active pallbearers.
