    Sharon K. McKinney, age 67, of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Grandview Medical Center.
    She was born November 9, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Arlene Sparks Johnson. Sharon retired from General Motors Truck & Bus where she worked as an assembler. She loved reading, movies, TV, flowers, her dog, Stormy Lee, and spending time with her family. An angel has gone home.
    Sharon is survived by her husband of 50 years, Elva McKinney; sisters, Patt Evans (Finn), Christy Rodehauer (Gary), and Rosemary Clason (Rick); brothers, Randy Johnson and Malcom Johnson (Starr); a sister-in-law, Shelby Ralston (Ed); two brothers-in-law, Everett McKinney (Truneah) and Lynn Davis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Lee McKinney; parents, Richard and Arlene Sparks Johnson; parents-in-law, Beveley and Faye McKinney; nephews, Shane Rawlins and Haney Rodehauer; a sister-in-law, Betty Johnson; and her grandparents, Dave and Helen Sparks and Harlan and Mary Johnson.
    A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ed Ralston officiating. Entombment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Garden, Centerville.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SICSA, the Humane Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

    Earnest Ray Woosley, age 65, of Irvine, Kentucky, husband of Debra Woosley, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
    He was born in Richmond, Kentucky on November 27, 1955 to I. H. and Katherine Adams Woosley. He was a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church and a Gideon in Estill County. He owned Laymor Paving.
    Mr. Woosley is survived by his wife, Debra Woosley; two sons: Isaac Woosley (Alicia) and Phillip Rogers; a daughter, Kelly Rawlins (David); five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and two sisters: Patsy Newton and Karen Woosley.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, I. H. and Katherine Adams Woosley; and a brother, Michael Earl Woosley.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine with Bro. Marvin Neal officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday, December 8th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Irvine.

    Gregory Wayne Conner, age 45, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020.
    He was born in Irvine, December 30, 1974 to Shirley Sparks Conner and the late Elmer Conner. He was an Automotive Technician.
    Mr. Conner is survived by his mother, Shirley Conner Rivas; two daughters: Amber Tipton and Hayley Conner; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Tammy Goodwin and Georgia Ledford (Jeff).
    He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Conner.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City with Bro. Steven Caudill officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, December 7th from 5 'till 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.

    She was born May 21, 1928 in Ashland, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Cash and Opal Thomas Richardson. She was a retired Phillips employee and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hall; and a sister, Lois Stevenson.
    She is survived by her daughter, Pam Woolery; and her grandson, Jeff Woolery.
    Private graveside services will be conducted at the Turpin Cemetery at a later date.

    Vicie Alcorn, age 98, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Morning Pointe in Richmond.
    She was born April 18, 1922 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Omer “Jack” and Nonie Chaney Smyth. She was a retired Carhartt, Inc. employee and a member of the Wisemantown Methodist Church.
    Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Buford Alcorn; and her son, Arthur Gene Ballard.
    She is survived by one stepson, William Ray Alcorn, Ohio; four sisters: Margie Flannery, Pauline Hudson (Jim), Anna Smyth, and Janet Dixon, all of Ohio; two grandsons: Arthur David Ballard (Shonna) and Randall Ballard, both of Irvine; three step-grandchildren: Tina Alcorn, Bart Alcorn (Janet) and Patty Alcorn; three great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
    Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death by four siblings, Lillian Sparks, Lucille Henderson, Juanita Henry and Reese Smyth.
    Graveside services were conducted Sunday, December 6, 2020, 2:00 p.m., at the Crowe Cemetery by Noel White and Tom Bonny

    Charles Edward Reed, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his residence in Irvine, Kentucky.
    Born December 31, 1935 in Estill County, Kentucky he was the son of the late Allen Christopher and Dell Chaney Reed. He was a former electrician.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Eugene "Gene" Reed and James "Red" Reed.
    He is survived by two sons, John Allen Reed (Ann) of Richmond, and Charles "Chuckie" Reed of Dayton Ohio; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Reed of Dayton, Ohio; and four sisters, Pauline "Peggy" Kortbein (Dennis), Hazel West (Les), Christine Brandenburg (Fred Jr.), and Louise Johns.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Hershel Dewayne Townsend, the son of the late Hershel and Phyllis Ann Raines Townsend was born in Irvine, Kentucky on October 3, 1976 and departed this life in Richmond, Kentucky on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the age of 44 years, 1 month and 29 days.
    He leaves behind one brother, Freddie Townsend (Paula) of Irvine; two sisters, Angela Moore (Harold) of Irvine, and Teresa Raines of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Joshua, Cody, and Destiny Collins; and Casey and Kaitlyn Moore; two great nephews, Malachi Estes and Landon Collins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Hershel was preceded in death by his parents.

Willard Rogers

    Willard Rogers, age 83, after a brief illness passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Lexington, Kentucky.
    Born in Powell County, March 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Bruce and Mary Susan Rogers. After living for a brief time in Michigan, working for General Motors, Willard returned to Powell County where he began his lifelong work as a self-employed businessman. He made his start by owning and managing a gas and service station and proceeded to build a successful career as an automobile dealer, establishing Rogers New Ford Sales and Rogers Used Cars. He was well known as a person you could trust, depend on, and come to anyone at their time of need.
    It is no exaggeration to say that Willard lived life to its fullest. He loved playing cards, enjoying a day at Keeneland and smoking a good cigar. He had a wealth of great stories and was the best at telling them. He would make you laugh, and put a smile on your face, regardless of the situation. Willard will be missed by his family and friends, but the memories of his kindness, and his wonderful stories, will live on with those of us who crossed his path.
    He survived by his children, Tina Patrick (Bill), Willard Keith Rogers (Heather), Dean Rogers (Kathy), Darlene Drake (Bobby) and Denise Campbell (Tim); a sister Rena; and three brothers: Larry, Sammy and Ricky Rogers. Willard had 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
    Willard was a loving father, uncle, grandfather and friend to everyone.
    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Duval Rogers, John Rogers, Harold Rogers, Eugene Rogers; and sisters, Mabel Rogers, Rosetta Spencer, and Gracie Townsend.
    Burial will be on Saturday, December 5, 2020, in Rogers Chapel Cemetery with Larry Drake, Corey Goad, Jacob Estes, Tim Campbell, Timber Drake, Bobby Drake, Darrell Rogers, and Marty Martinelli serving as pallbearers.
    Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Hall, Gary Rogers, Cordis Brown, Charles Begley, Bobby Sparks, Gordan Sanford, Larry Reed, James South, Bunt Gross, Charlie Pearson, and Wanda Goodwin.

Rollie Edward Cox

    Rollie Edward Cox, age 89, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Baptist Health-Lexington. He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife, Frances Durham Cox.
    Rollie was born on July 6, 1931 in Estill County, Kentucky, and was the son of John and Emma Garrett Cox, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired independent distributor for over 25 years for Little Debbie and Rainbow Bread. He was a longtime member of Big Hill Christian Church and had been a Mason.
    Survivors include one son, Edward M. Cox (Carrie) of Richmond; one daughter, Vickie Gail Rutledge (Don) of Albemarle, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Heather Lee Martin (Tommy), John Paul Rutledge (Molly), and Michael Cox (Sydney); four great grandchildren, Kinsey, Brody, Jack, and Asher; and one brother, James Cox.
    Due to governmental Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Riggs officiating. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery.     He was born in West Liberty, Kentucky, on July 25, 1981 to Lonnie Adkins Sr. and the late Penny Lewis Adkins. He worked as a carpenter.
    Lonnie Adkins Jr. was preceded in death by his mother, Penny Lewis Adkins.
    Surviving are his fiancée, Jennifer Sargent; his father, Lonnie Adkins Sr., one daughter, Alexis Marie Adkins, all of West Liberty; two step-daughters, Jenna Robin Legg of West Liberty, and Leslie Bryleigh Jaden Caskey of Morehead; a half-sister, Jessica Barnes (Rick) of Irvine,KY; two nieces, Laura Barnes and Avis Barnes Culton; and a great nephew. Grayson Culton.

    Troy Lee Mullins, Jr., age 49, of Parsons Lane in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born June 12, 1971 in Lexington and was the son of Gail Stacy Mullins and the late Troy Lee Mullins, Sr. He was an accountant with Conduent and was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church and attended the Crossroad Christian Church. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
    Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Angela Megan Zeller Mullins; his daughter, Erica Renee Mullins; and his son, Kyle Edward Mullins.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Mike Chism with burial at the South Irvine Cemetery.

    She was born December 23, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Homer Charles and Fannie Colter Charles Strange. She was retired from Carhartt, Inc. and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Beverly Francis Hall; two daughters: Beverly Ann Means, Estill County; and Sheila Blackwell (David), Madison County; one son, Randy Walter Hall (Rebecca) Estill County; six sisters: Mary Richardson, Glyndena Morefield, and Linda Goosey, all of Estill County; Barbara Dykes, Fayette County; Juanita McKinney, Estill County; and Zoba, Montgomery County; one brother, Wendall Muncie, Estill County; six grandchildren: Chris Means, Andrew Means, Austin Blackwell, Shaun Blackwell, William Hall and Madison Hall; three great grandchildren: Kaden Means, Molly Pickering and Raylynn Means; and a special friend, Kathy Harrison.

    Laverne Tharpe, age 89, widow of Eugene Tharpe, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Baptist Health Lexington.
    Born in Irvine, Kentucky on May 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Mountz McKinney and the late Eunice Wells McKinney. She was former head cook at Powell County Middle School and attended Vaughns Mill First Church of God and Hatton Creek Community Church.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, MaDonna Rose Tharpe Bowen; three brothers: David Anderson McKinney, Ferrell Ray McKinney and Kendall McKinney; and five sisters: Mildred Estes, Thelma Bishop, Wilma Bishop, Irene Olinger and Beulah Ann McKinney.
    Laverne is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith (Bill); her grandson, Steven L, Bowen, II (Stephanie); her great grandchild, Kedir Bowen; and four sisters: Eldoria "Dody" Johnson, Kathlene Rogers (Jearl), Janet Flippo, and Berniece Wills.

Paul D. Smith

    Paul D. Smith, age 81, beloved husband, father and believer in Christ, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, next to his wife Jane, his devoted wife and companion of 60 years and mother of their precious daughter Renee Risner of Clark County. Throughout most of their married life, he and Jane enjoyed simple things like working with horses and cattle, being outdoors, attending church and caring for their beautiful hillside farm in the Pilot View community.
    He was born May 27, 1939 in Perry County, Kentucky, to the late George and Alma Edwards Smith. He was the youngest of their 10 children. Paul attended Trapp and Pilot View Elementary Schools, Clark County High School, the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College.
    After graduating from Georgetown, he worked 40 years for East Kentucky Power Cooperative at Dale Station with a hard-working team that brought light, power and a better way of life to thousands of rural Kentucky families.
    He was a member and believer in the Primitive Baptist faith for 50 plus years. He often said that nothing that any man has done could ever compare with what Jesus Christ did by dying a cruel death nailed to a cross to give His children the gift of salvation. Paul believed in the absolute sovereignty of God, saying the He is — and always will be — in control. Everything happens according to His eternal decrees established when He laid the foundations of the world.
    In addition to being a devoted father, Paul deeply loved Jane and their granddaughters, Dr. Elizabeth Durham (Donovan) of London and Laura Reed (Dillon) of Williamsburg.
    He is survived by his brother, Charles E. Smith (Lucille) of Irvine; and cousin, Steve Curtis of Winchester.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, June Curtis, Jetta Elkin, Travis Smith, Jewell Hall, Burtis Smith, Clyde Smith, Willie Smith, and a baby brother.
    Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers, Connie Curtis and Rachel Gross.
    Visitation was at the Scobee Funeral Home, 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, starting at 12:00 Noon on Friday, November 27, 2020, with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Winchester Cemetery. Presiding was Brother Ben Cordes.

    He was born April 4, 1951 in Oneida, Clay County, Kentucky. He was an employee of Aramark Landscaping.
    Mr. Yarber is survived by his wife, Victoria Yarber; two sons: Earl Yarber and James Yarber Jr.; two daughters: Jamie Himes and Marsha Sparks; four brothers: Donnie Yarber, David Yarber, Shelby Yarber and Lester Yarber; four sisters: Faye Rogers, Mary Callahan, Khristine Pittman and Wanda Richmond; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mary Ann Fowler

    Mary Ann Fowler, age 84, of Sparks Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born March 16, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Jeff and Edna Wolfinbarger Campbell. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Fowler, and is survived by her daughter, Donna Lynn Gassett (Paul), Estill County; two grandchildren: Matthew and Jacob Gassett; and one great grandchild, Dustin Jacob Gassett.
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Allie Mainous.
    Graveside services will be conducted Monday, November 30, 2020, 12:00 Noon, at the Sparks Cemetery.

    Edith Fern Hall, age 76, of Hall Way in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at her home.
    She was born August 3, 1944 in Mercer County and was the daughter of the late George Riley and Lonnie Wall Cooper. She was a homemaker and former employee of Quality Manufacturing and the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She attended the Roadside Mission and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Allie Hall, Jr.; four sons: Lonnie Cooper, David Charles (Melissa), Teddy Charles (Samantha), and Matthew Charles, all of Powell County; one sister, Beatrice Cooper Tassell, Georgia; one brother, Robert Hugh Cooper, South Carolina; and ten grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two children, Eddie Carl Hall and Sherry Lynn Hall.
    Due to Covid-19, private funeral services will be conducted at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Jim Hall with burial at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.

Chester Scenters

    Chester Scenters, age 89, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
    He was born in Estill County, April 16, 1931 to Willie and Eva Lamb Scenters. He was retired from Central Bank and was a member of the Body of Christ Ministry.
    Mr. Scenters is survived by one son, Dallas Scenters (Jenny); four daughters: Lisa Powell, Cletta Lucas, Jaymie Jo Asa Barreto (Rick), and Ivie Evans (Randall); ten grandchildren; and two sisters: Opal Riddell and Gracie Estes.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Eva Lamb Scenters; his wife, Margaret Scenters; a son, Edward Scenters; a grandson, Jonathan Barreto; three brothers: Floyd Scenters, Wesley Scenters, and Clyde Scenters; and two sisters: Emily Stone and Mamie Gordon.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine with Bro. Bill Wesley officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery in Irvine.
    Pallbearers will be Lawrence Gullette, Chris Gullette, Terry Gullette, Jerry Gullette, Taylor Hampton and Jacob Stevens.

    Elwanda Allen, age 79, of Tuttle Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Mercy Health in Cincinnati.
    She was born April 24, 1941 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late James Fred and Norma Dae Pasley Smyth. She was a former employee of the East Kentucky Power Cooperative and a member of the Independent Church of Lexington.
    Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harold Allen; and is survived by her daughter, Ratonya Allen, Irvine; one sister, Wathena McKinney (Charles), Richmond; two brothers: Elwood Smyth (Reva), Florida; and Lyndon Smyth, Irvine; and several nieces and nephews.
    Private funeral services will be conducted at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. James Hicks with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

James Michael Rawlins

    James Michael Rawlins, age 37, of Old Fox Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at Hosparus Health in Louisville, following a long illness.
    He was born November 5, 1983 in Madison County and was the son of Ronald and Marlene Dawes Rawlins. He was an employee of Advanced Disposal and a member of the White Oak Church of God. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Survivors in addition to his father and mother include his wife, Samantha Shearer Rawlins; and two daughters, Samara and Karlie Rawlins
    Memorial services were held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Bro. Terry Barnes.
