Mattie Mageleen Spicer

    Mattie Mageleen Spicer, age 53 of Pikeville, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was a retired state employee and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
    She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on July 17, 1967, the daughter of the late Glenn and Marquita Cole Snodgrass.
    Mattie is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Sneed of Shelbiana, Lahoma Ellis of Pikeville, and Harriet Collins (Travis) of Pompey, Kentucky. She is also survived by two nieces, Molly Meade and Crystal Lynn Weddington; a nephew, Joshua Paul Sneed; and two great nieces, Harley Paige Newsome and Lexus R. Robinson.
    A Memorial Service In Honor of Mattie’s Life will be held at a later date.

    Garrett Fike, age 82, husband of Wilma Fike, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at his residence.
    Born October 24, 1938 in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hargis and Dowthula Fike and a member of the Rice Station Christian Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer Fike, Glyndon Fike, Delbert Fike, Graydon Fike, and Gayle Fike; and five sisters, Thetus Flynn, Beatrice Fike, Mayfra Binegar, Rachel Kelley, and Opal Fike.
    Garrett is survived by his wife, Wilma Fike of Irvine; one son, Garrett Steven Fike; one daughter, Felicia Campbell (Tony) of Irvine; one brother, Marcum Fike of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brandon Campbell (Mary Lynn), Toni-Garrett Hall (Chris), Steven Campbell (Beth), Cory Cox, and Cody Cox, all of Irvine; Clay Fike, Carlie Fike, Caitlin Fike, all of Winchester; and seven great grandchildren, Garrett Hall, Hannah Hall, Grace Hall, Landon Campbell, Katie Campbell, Levi Garrett Campbell, and Anna Beth Campbell.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Joe Hall and Bro. Kirt Scott will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rice Station Christian Church in Irvine. Public visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church until time of service. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery with Brandon Campbell, Steven Campbell, Clay Fike, Chris Hall, Landon Campbell, Garrett Hall and Levi Campbell serving as active pallbearers.

Katherine Turpin Kaylor

    Katherine Turpin Kaylor, age 98, of Bybee, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Terrace Nursing Facility in Berea.
    She was born in Estill County, on March 29, 1922 to the late Charles Henry and Nora Belle Hatton Turpin. She was a former cafeteria employee of the Waco School and also enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family. Mrs. Kaylor was of the Nazarene faith.
    Survivors include her daughters, Cornelia Rice (Waldo), and Judy Walters (Billy); three brothers, Eugene Turpin (Charlotte), James Turpin (Betty), and Forest Turpin; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kaylor; three brothers, Henry, Charles and Johnny Turpin; and two sisters, Christine Gentry and Eva Schoenrock.
    Private graveside services will be conducted at the Turpin Cemetery, Winston Loop Road, Irvine, with Bro. Kenneth Bishop and Bro. Sherl Thomas officiating.

    Iza D. Robinson, 84, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Madison Health & Rehab. in Richmond, Kentucky.
    Mr. Robinson was born on October 18, 1936 in Irvine, Kentucky, and was the son of Beechum Howard and Dessie Parker Robinson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Robinson was a faithful member of Abundant Life Ministries and loved reading his Bible.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mayfrey Ann Harrison Robinson; a son, Mitchell Robinson; and two sisters, Reatha Turner and Ruby Gordon.
    Survivors include two sons, Marvin Robinson (Becky) of Lebanon, Ohio; and Michael Robinson (Amee) of Irvine; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond with Bro. Edwin Lainhart and Bro. Chad Lainhart officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Robert Rose “Sugar Bear” McGuffey, Jr., 51

    Robert Rose “Sugar Bear” McGuffey, Jr., age 51, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Baptist Health-Lexington.
    A Nicholas County native born March 23, 1969, he was a 1987 graduate of Nicholas County High School, worked for many years as a sales manager for Blue Ribbon Rental, Rent-a-Center & Aaron’s and was a member of the Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church. Sugar Bear enjoyed both playing and watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. He was always working, having several “projects” going at once. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Bear had a smile that could light up a room.
    Surviving are his mother, Ellen McGuffey of Carlisle; three children: Alyssa, Ashley and Andrew McGuffey, all of Louisville; four grandchildren: Jamirah, Jessie Rose and Jamilynn McGuffey and Ashtyn Johnson; a brother, Brandon McGuffey of Lexington; a sister, Jennifer Bussell of Michigan; an aunt, Anna Beckham of Louisville; an uncle, Asbury McGuffey Jr. of Lexington; three close cousins: Mark Beckham, Angela Moore and Michael Potts; a special friend, Darlene; two longtime friends, Derwin Howard and Tip Fryman; and a large extended family.
    Preceding him in death are his father, Robert Rose “Bob” McGuffey, Sr.; a son, Andre Hilton Norris McGuffey; a brother, Nathaniel Hilton McGuffey; and his aunt, Roberta McKee.
    Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home, 105 Locust Street, Carlisle, Kentucky, by Rev. Randy Taylor. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Friday until the time of service.

    Gracie Estes, age 93, of Estes Road in Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Lee County Constant Care Center following a long illness.
    She was born March 24, 1927 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willie and Eva Lamb Scenters. She was a homemaker and former Carhartt, Inc. employee and was a member of the Church of God.
    Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Odell Estes; and her son, Bobby Ray Estes.
    She is survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren: Karen Brandenburg (Jr.), Sharon Pelfrey, Stephanie Durbin (Greg), Vickie Ross (Jerry), Crystal Estes Dodson and children Jace and Anya; Rebecca Estes Meadows and son Lijah; John Moore (Mikie) and children Serena and Payton; Randall Brandenburg (Samantha) and children Hunter, Hallie, Harper, Callie and Ethan; and Andrea Miller (Mikie) and children Jaycie and Emilynn; a sister: Opal Riddell; a host of nieces and nephews.
    Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by five sisters, Emily Stone, Mamie Gordon, Bertha Riddell, Naomi Walling, and Gladys Still; and four brothers, Chester, Floyd, Wesley and Clyde Scenters.

    Mayme Lou Kirby Dawes, age 75, of Rice Station Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born April 27, 1945 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Millard and Maggie Johnson Kirby. She was a homemaker and attended the Valley View Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Dawes was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dawes; and is survived by two daughters: Paula Dawes Snowden (Shannon), Louisville; and Diane Dawes Harris (Ricky), Irvine; one sister, Christine Kirby, Irvine; one granddaughter, Olivia Lavryn Snowden; and one step-grandson, Andrew Snowden.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nannie Jean Melton, Pauline Melton and Cleo Kirby.
    Visitation for the public wasa held Friday, December 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were held by Bro. Willie Gordon with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

    Geneva Morris Moore Richardson, age 70, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at the Signature Health Care Center in Bowling Green, following a long illness.
    She was born August 29, 1950 in Estill County, a daughter of the late Dillard and Juanita King Morris. She was formerly a Dietary Assistant with the Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital. She had lived in Estill County most of her life and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Richardson is survived by two daughters: LaVelle Tipton (Paul) and Mindy McCool (Charlie), both of Estill County; and five grandchildren: Christian Tipton, Elizabeth Tipton, Jackson McCool, Elijah McCool, and Liam McCool.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Barnes.

James Elmer "Fudd" Morris

    James Elmer "Fudd" Morris, age 60, of Irvine, Kentucky passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was the husband of Sharon Rogers Morris of Irvine, Kentucky.
    Born April 26, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Mary Margaret Estes Morris and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Irvine, Kentucky. Fudd drove the semi for the Estill County Engineers marching band from 2010-2015. He loved his family and friends more than anything, and he enjoyed talking to everyone that he met.
    In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Jeanine "Sis" Tipton.
    Fudd is survived by his wife, Sharon Morris; one daughter, Mary Beth Morris (John McIntosh); two brothers, Beverly "Bo" Morris (Madeline) and Paul Morris (Lorrie); and one sister, Bobbie Bowman (Bob Duncan).
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Scott Rogers will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis-Abner Funeral Home.     Billy Don Stamper, age 80, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at his residence.
    Born March 19, 1940 in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Alex and Haynes Miller Stamper. Billy was a fiddle maker; he loved Bluegrass music and playing with his buddies. He was also famous for "Billy's Waltz" that he had published. Even though he loved Bluegrass music he loved his wife and her cooking more.
    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Stamper.
    Billy is survived by sons, John Stamper (Patsy) and Billy D. Stamper Jr. (Carrie), all of Estill County; one daughter, Delores Pearson of Estill County; one sister, Margarete Dunn (Billy) of Estill County; and two grandchildren, Alex Lynn Stamper and September Dawn Stamper.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Larry Neal will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Lewis-Abner Funeral Home. John Russell “Johnny” Turpin

    John Russell “Johnny” Turpin, 75, of Waco, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at his home.
    Mr. Turpin, the son of Charles Henry and Nora Belle Hatton Turpin, was born in Madison County on October 12, 1945. He was a farmer and enjoyed street rods and car shows. He had been attending the House of Prayer in Irvine.
    On June 8, 1963, Mr. Turpin united in marriage to Brenda Evans Turpin who survives. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.
    Johnny is also survived by two sons: Bobby Turpin (Brenda) of Waco and John Brent Turpin of Irvine; his daughter, Roxanne Abner (Jeff) of Jackson County; three brothers: Eugene Turpin (Charlotte), James Turpin (Betty) and Forest Turpin; one sister, Katherine Kaylor; three grandchildren: Emma Carson Turpin, Summer Abner, Josh Abner; five great grandchildren: Andrew Marcum, Brennon Willis, Clayton Combs, Lakenzie Noe and Ava Jane Noe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Turpin was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Turpin and Charles Turpin; and two sisters, Christine Gentry and Eva Schoenrock.
    The family has chosen private services with burial in the Flatwoods Cemetery.

    She was born in Big Rock, Virginia, August 26, 1946 to Harv and Eva Lester Dotson. She worked in the coal mines.
    Mrs. Bullock is survived by three sons: Ricky Hurley, Larry Dotson (Elizabeth) and Tommy Dotson; two daughters: Mary Arthur (James) and Melissa Dotson; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Gavin.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Scott Bullock; and two brothers, Hassle and Roy Dotson.

    She was born October 17, 1933 in Martin County and was the daughter of the late James and Ora Lee Spradlin Crabtree. She was a former employee of Kenner, a former toy company, and the New & Used TV Shop in Cincinnati. She was of the Pentecostal faith and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Howard; and is survived by three daughters: Annette Nicolson (Patrick), Owen County; Patricia Anderson, Powell County; and Betty Sue Riddell (Tim), Estill County; two sons: Ronald Howard (Laura) and Robert Howard (Sue), both of Owen County; a daughter-in-law, Retha Howard, Whitley County; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by two sons, Randell and Rickey Howard; and six brothers, Bill, Virgil, Dude, Henry, Johnny and Clifford Crabtree.

    She was born February 19, 1963 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Howard and Lillian Estes Witt. She was a dog breeder and groomer and a member of the AKC. She was a member of the Christian Worship Center and had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Ricky Allen White; two daughters: Deanna Carroll of Ohio, and Kayla Albright (Justin) of Estill County; one sister, Norma Sparks, Madison County; one brother, Bill Marcum (Carolyn), Estill County; and her granddogs.

    Michael Bradley “Mike” Walters, age 50, Mount Carmel, Tennessee, died Friday, November 27, 2020.
    He was born January 25, 1970 in Irvine, Kentucky. Mike was a member of Rejoice Worship Center in Castlewood, Virginia. His love for God was undeniable. He was a supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness, loved golfing, woodworking, handmade gifts, and sports.
    He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Walters; one son, Christopher Tyler Walters; one daughter, Brianna Colleen Walters Palmer; one grandson, Lyndon Mahoney; his mother and father, David A. and Louise Hunt Walters; two brothers, David Wayne Walters and Steven Walters; one sister, Debbie Smalley; three nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.

    Leslie Elwood Tipton, age 83, of White Oak Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born June 11, 1937 in Estill County and was the son of the late William Buford and Virginia Lee McIntosh Tipton. He was retired from Bunt Gross Auto Sales where he worked as an auto mechanic and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church and the Fitchburg Masonic Lodge.
    Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Frances Fielder Tipton; and is survived by one daughter, Kathy Ann Withers (Leslie), and one son, Donald R. Tipton (Sandra), both of Irvine; three sisters: Shirley Horn, Irvine; Eldora Abney and Drucilla Tipton, both of Ohio; one brother, Elzie Tipton, Winchester; four grandchildren: Christal French, Tory Jones, Rayna Tipton and Tavia Richardson; and several great and great, great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Gail Estes; one sister, Wanda Horn; and one grandson, John Leslie Estes.
    Visitation for the public will be held Monday, December 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held by Bro. Tory Jones with burial at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be Darrell Fielder, Chris Horn, Jonathon Walters, Anthony Arthur, Travis French, Robbie Hunter and Trent Richardson.

Robert Flinchum

    Robert Flinchum, the husband of 49 years to his loving wife, Connie J. Meyer Flinchum of Beattyville, Kentucky; and the son of the late Brack and Nancy Johnson Flinchum, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on July 14, 1950 and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 21 days. He was a former Tool and Die maker for Bundy Tubing where he worked for 25 years, a professional stone worker and had various hobbies.
    In addition to his wife, Connie; Robert is survived by three children: Robert Timothy Flinchum (Stephanie), Rebecca Lynn McIntosh (Kevin), both of Beattyville; and Mary Louise Flinchum Planck (Shawn) of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Olivia Flinchum, Kolby McIntosh, and Kara Beth McIntosh, all of Beattyville; one sister, Susan J. Tackett of Irvine; one brother, James L. Flinchum of Lexington; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Bowman of Beattyville; four nieces and nephews, Michelle Jones, Jeffery Flinchum, both of Lexington; Alicia Flinchum of Portland, Oregon; and Brandon Flinchum of Georgetown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard A. Flinchum; and a sister, Mandy Fay Richardson.
    Services were conducted Wednesday, December 9, 2020, by Rev. William Owens at the Flinchum Cemetery, Hwy. 52 West, in Beattyville.

    Cletha Jean Richardson was met with open arms, running through the gates to be with our Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday evening, December 7, 2020.
    “Although she will be missed dearly by all who knew her, we know she is rejoicing with the angels in heaven and all her family that has gone before her.”
    Cletha was born on August 7, 1941 in Estill County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Price and Alma Walton Farthing. She was a homemaker, a loving Wife, Mother, Aunt and Mamaw. Cletha was a member of The Waco Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Lester Richardson; three daughters: Connie Vice (Tim), Kim Tate (Tom) and Neva Richardson; six grandchildren: Derrick Tate, Whitney Agee, Chelsea Richardson, Claire Vice, Sarah Vice and Isaiah Vice; four great grandchildren: Alexis Agee, Anthony Greg Richardson, Tate Abner and Erica Douglas; one sister, Brenda Moberly; one brother, Jimmy Farthing; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
    Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, the family has chosen to have a Private Service at The Waco Baptist Church. There will be a Live-Stream Webcast of the service that may be viewed on our website beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020. Mrs. Richardson will be laid to rest in the Richmond Cemetery.
    Pallbearers are Derrick Tate, Sarah Vice, Isaiah Vice, Anthony Richardson, Alexis Agee, Donnie Moberly, Tyler Moberly, Tanner Moberly and Dalton Moberly.
    Honorary pallbearers are Whitney Agee, Chelsea Richardson, Claire Vice, Erica Douglas, Tate Abner, Jason Hammons, Josh Hammons, Chad Hammons, Aaron and Joyce Lucas, Brennon and Tracy Ragone, Jim and Cee Baker and Lowell and Norma Berryman.

Cheryl “Kathy” Wilson

    Cheryl Kathleen “Kathy” Wilson, age 53, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    She was born in Irvine; May 2, 1967 to James and Myrtle Willis Neal. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holiness Church.
    Kathy is survived by her mother, Myrtle Willis Neal; a son, Bryce Tyler Neal (Nicole); two grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia McDowell; two special nephews, Thomas McDowell and Joshua McDowell; and a special niece, Katelynn Puckett.
    She was preceded in death by her father, James Neal; a son, James Michael Neal; and a brother, James Russell Neal.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Hardy Cemetery.
