Harold Gene Hunt

    Harold Gene Hunt, age 95, of White Oak Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Veterans Administration Health Care Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born March 6, 1925 in Estill County and was the son of the late John M. and Edith Wilson Hunt. He was a retired employee of the Bluegrass Ordinance and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Williams Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Irvine Lodge 137 F&AM, the Scottish Rites of Free Masonry, a Kentucky Colonel and was the Mayor of Boogertown.
    Mayor Hunt is survived by his wife, Ruby Lily Harrison Hunt; his daughter, Terry Williams, Estill County; two grandchildren: Jeff Pearson (Sharon) and Cindy Garcia (Dr. Joe Ray); two step-grandchildren: Chris Williams and Leah Williams; four great grandchildren: Zaylah Pearson-Good, Juniper Pearson-Good, Caden Pearson and Lily Pearson; and two step-great grandchildren: Jason Williams and Kate Williams.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Harold David Hunt; his sister, Wilma Baber; and his brother, Edward Hunt.
    Visitation for the public will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held by Bro. Chris Winkler with burial at the West Irvine Cemetery.
    Pallbearers are Jeff Pearson, Caden Pearson, Juniper Pearson-Good, Gene Harrison, Kim Harrison and Chris Williams.

    Clark Brinegar, age 82, of Old Landing Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born October 16, 1938 in Estill County and was the son of the late Andrew and Velda Plowman Brinegar. He was a retired employee of Kentucky Processing and a member of the South Irvine Holiness Church.
    Mr. Brinegar was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Frances Osborne Brinegar; and is survived by one daughter, Kathy Smith (Phillip), Estill County; five sons: Jerry Wayne Brinegar (Barbara), Ricky Joe Brinegar (Karen Ann), both of Clark County; Michael Lee Brinegar (Thelma), Roy Lynn Brinegar (Annette), and Jeffery Quienten Brinegar (Trish), all of Estill County; two sisters: Bertha Marville, Madison County; and Pam Brewer, Powell County; three brothers: Paul Brinegar, Estill County; Ollie Brinegar and Tom Brinegar, both of Clark County; ten grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Fraley; and two brothers, Chester and Millard Brinegar.
    Visitation for the public will be held Tuesday, January 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Ravenna Church of God. Private funeral services will be held by Bro. Phillip Smith with burial at the Campbell Cemetery.

    Mary Elizabeth Martini, age 97, of Wallace Circle in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born January 7, 1923 in Addyston, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lula Moore Brown. She was a house cleaner and a member of the Clover Nook Christian Church.
    Mrs. Martini was preceded in death by her husband, James Harry Martini; and is survived by one grandchild, Joe Taylor, Ohio; three great grandchildren: Erica Roberts, Matthew Taylor, and T.J. Taylor, all of Arkansas; four great, great grandchildren; her caregivers, Mary McIntosh and Jordyn McCormick; several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Justin McCormick.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lee Taylor; her sister, Virginia Abney; two brothers, Thomas and Alfred Brown; two grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Taylor and Jimmy Taylor; and one great grandchild, Dawn Taylor.
    Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. There will be no services.

    Rose Marie Ashcraft, age 63, Beattyville, Kentucky, widow of Johnny Ashcraft, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
    She was born November 28, 1957 in Beattyville, a daughter to the late James Shackelford and Mable Thompson Shackelford. She was a bundler, working for Lion Apparel in Beattyville.
    Rose is survived by two sons: Johnny Ray Ashcraft Jr. of Beattyville, and Sean J. Davis of Irvine; three daughters: Angela Fox (Chris) of Beattyville, Michelle Napier of Mt. Sterling, and Jessica Ashcraft of Stanton; five grandchildren: LeeShana Brandenburg, Kaitlin Hall, Drew Hall, Austin Hogan, and Jayden Holliday; one great grandchild; Kinsley Davis; and many other loving family members, and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mable Shackelford; and her husband, Johnny Ray Ashcraft.
    A private visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Booneville Funeral Home, 3450 Ky Hwy 11 North, Booneville. A private memorial service, officiated by James Ashcraft, will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

    Mary L. Corey Martin, age 78, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her residence.
    She was born October 14, 1941 in Owingsville, Kentucky, to Bob and Abagail Purvis Corey. She was a member of the Winchester Community Church and was a housewife.
    Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Andrew Martin; three sons: Thomas Parks (Brenda) of Michigan, Nathan Parks (Teresa Puckett) of Irvine, and Henry Parks (Emily) of Winchester; three daughters: Connie Allen (Phillip) of Irvine, Patricia Borders (Rick) of Clay City; and Juanita Noble (Lee) of Winchester; seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild; two brothers: Harold Corey and Hargus Corey, both of Bath County; and two sisters: Bonnie and Margaret.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Parks; a daughter, Beverly Daniels; and a grandson, Ricky Borders.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Winchester Community Church, 123 Franklin Avenue, Winchester, with Bro. Jackie Stamper and Bro.     Randall Lynn Johnson Sr., age 41, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
    He was born June 9, 1979 in Irvine to Randy and Teresa Merrell Johnson. He was a mechanic.
    Mr. Johnson is survived by his parents, Randy and Teresa Johnson; two sons: Randall Johnson Jr. and Waylon Johnson; two daughters: Dedra Johnson and Kendall Johnson; a brother, Craig Johnson; and a sister, Sabrina Faye Lambert (Josh).
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Ryan Johnson.

    Bro. William “Bill” Ross 85 of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Vanderbilt University Burn Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
    He was born December 30, 1935 in West Liberty, Kentucky, to Garnel Edison and Elsie Wilson Ross. He was an Evangelist who loved the Lord and spread the Gospel everywhere he went.
    Bro. Ross is survived by two sons: David Ross and Greg Ross (Susan); three daughters: Deborah Richardson, Sandra Richardson, and Sheila Isaacs; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren; a brother, Edison Ross; and five sisters: Lucy Ross, Christine Ross, Deloris Ross, Mary Jane Ross and Brenda Ross.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Sue Shelton Ross; a daughter, Melinda Miles; a son, William Ross Jr.; a brother, Wilburn Ross; and two sisters: Karen Vest and Jean Horn.

James Allen “Jim” Cox

    James Allen “Jim” Cox, age 96, the widower of Edna Long Cox, passed away Thursday evening, December 31, 2020.
    He was born on October 20, 1924 in Estill County, Kentucky, the son of the late John and Emma Garrett Cox. Jim worked for the Honey Crust Bread Company and later the Rainbow Bread Company, a job that he did for over 40 years. Following that, he began another career that spanned a period of 25 years. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Madison County Sheriff Cecil “Dude” Cochran. During that time he served as District Court Bailiff.
    After retirement Jim continued to stay busy. He loved being around people and could be seen often driving his 1959 Chevrolet through Richmond. He loved NASCAR and UK Basketball. Jim and his late wife Edna, were members of The Whitehall Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his two children: Joyce Chaney (Frank) and Glenn Cox (Emma); four grandchildren: Christopher Cox (Kelly), CynD VanWinkle (Shane), Teresa Haney (Robert) and Lisa Stafford (Mark); nine great grandchildren: Logan, Katelyn and Luke Cox; Cody and Tucker VanWinkle; James Reams, Renee Phillips (Stephen); and Tyler and Hallie Stafford; five great, great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Lincoln; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by six brothers: Russell Cox, Anderson Cox, Ralph Cox, Ed Cox, Tony Cox, and Garnett Cox; and five sisters, Katherine Agee, Margaret Dickerson, Brillian Cain, Hazel Foster, and Dora Henson.
    The family has selected private services under the direction of the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. This service may be viewed via a Live Stream Webcast at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at www.cpcfh.com. Burial will be at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

    She was born June 30, 1951 in Irvine and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Helen Johnston Stacy. She was a former Carhartt, Inc. employee and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. She was a member of the Knob Lick Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Judy is survived by her daughter, Matricia Earl Striblin (Tim), Estill County; three sisters: Joan Murphy (Kenny), Janey Bishop (Cecil), and Jenny Collins (Mike), all of Estill County; one brother, Joe Stacy (Sue), Madison County; four grandchildren, Thomas, Kiri, Raymond and Billy; and one great grandchild, Malachi.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Paulette Estes; and two brothers, Jerry and Jack Stacy.

    Hobert Osborne, Jr., age 88, of Irvine, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    Born February 3, 1932 in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hobert Osborne and Lillie Johnson Osborne. Hobert was a retired cook of over 35 years with the University of Miami Ohio in Oxford, Ohio.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmo Osborne and David Osborne; and his sister, Julia Osborne.
    Hobert is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean Powell Osborne of Irvine; a daughter, Donna Osborne of Irvine, a granddaughter, Richolle Osborne; three brothers: Cecil Osborne of Hamilton, Ohio; Wilmer Osborne of Winchester; and Bobby Osborne of Irvine; and two sisters: Marie Osborne of Winchester, and Jean Alcorn (Robert) of London, Kentucky.
    Visitation was held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. A procession then departed the funeral home for a graveside service at Fielders Cemetery, in Irvine.
    Active pallbearers were Steve Jones, Michael Johnson, Aaron Faulkner, Steve Randall, Donald Miller and Bobby Dale Osborne.

    Charles Franklin “Buster” Clevenger, age 77, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born December 16, 1943 in Floyd County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late John and Margaret Sellards Clevenger. He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired CSX Railroad employee. He was a member of the Irvine First Church of God and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Clevenger is survived by his son, Todd Clevenger (Margaret), Bowling Green, Kentucky; two sisters: Carolyn Bowman (J.B.), Lee County; and Charolette Jarrell, Floyd County; his nieces and nephews: Mark Robinson, Tony Clevenger, Greg Clevenger, Carol Ann Coffin and Carmen Blackburn; and his caretakers: Christina Clevenger and Chase Clevenger.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, John Fredrick Clevenger.

    She was born April 16, 1939 in Powell County and was the daughter of the late Russell and Grace Lucas Gaylord. She was a tax preparer and served as treasurer for the Estill County Historical Society. She belonged to the Estill County Library Book Club and was a volunteer at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital.
    Mrs. Arthur was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Arthur, and is survived by two sons: Barry Arthur (Traci), Estill County; and Gary Arthur (Cheryl), Madison County; one brother, Ralph Gaylord (Judy), Powell County; seven grandchildren: Billy Berryman, Robbie Berryman, Dalton Arthur, Kaden Arthur, Jonathan Arthur, Elizabeth Cheeks and Jacob Arthur; and three great grandchildren: Trevor Berryman, Rebecca Cheeks and Makenna Cheeks.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Abel; her son, Jeffery Frank Arthur; and her brother, Wayne Gaylord.

    He was born March 29, 1989 in Fayette County and was the son of Donnie Lee Johnson and the late Carol Jones Johnson. He was a construction worker and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Candix Kay Daniels Johnson; three daughters: Hannah Marie Johnson, Kaylee Jo Johnson, and Cayliah Sky Johnson; one son, Mason Lynn Johnson; and four brothers: Frank Johnson, Estill County; Carl Thacker, Fayette County; Noah Thomas, and Isaac Thomas, both of Estill County.

    Phyllis Joyce Abshear Spivey, age 82, widow of Ray B. Spivey, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at her son’s home.
    She was born in Clark County on September 19, 1938 to the late Frank and Lillie Bush Abshear. She was a member of Epperson First Church of God.
    Mrs. Spivey is survived by three daughters, Connie Haggard (Larry), Sandy Pelfrey, and Tonya Estes (Frank); one son, Jerry Spivey (Regina); one adopted grandson, Tony Spivey (Summer); seven grandchildren, Garland Stanfield, Chastity Ford (Tom), Tommy Stanfield, Todd Spivey (Heather), LaRae Notchie (Joey), BreAnn Spivey, and Frankie Estes; three step grandchildren, David Pelfrey, Mike Pelfrey, and Lisa Craycraft; several great and great great grandchildren; one sister, Lula Mae Puckett; and one brother, John Abshear (Norma).

    Kathleen Compston, age 86, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020.
    Born August 3, 1934 in Estill County, she was the daughter of the late John Morgan and Amanda Jane McQueen Blevins.
    Kathleen is survived by two sons, Darrell Ingram of Estill County, and Dana Ingram of Kansas; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

    Reva Jean Neal, age 71, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
    Born August 6, 1948, in Jackson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Alva and Mae Alexander.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Neal.
    Reva is survived by four daughters, Lisa Woods, Vickie Helton, both of Powell County; Libby Berryman of Mt. Vernon; and Tammy Berryman of Madison County; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Vester Alexander were held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Lewis-Abner Funeral Home. Public visitation began at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, until time of service. Burial was in the Webb Cemetery with Stephen Robinson, Jimmy Helton, Dustin Berryman, Dalton Berryman, Brandon Napier and Shawn Napier serving as active pallbearers; and Cody Helton serving as honorary pallbearer.

    Carolyn Sue Reed, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Kenwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Kentucky, following a short illness.
    She was born February 9, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Rison Barnett. She was a homemaker and attended the Panola Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Edward Reed; and is survived by five daughters: Barbara Conner, Brenda Burgess, and Rayette Harrison, all of Madison County; Donette Snowden, and Angela Reed, both of Indiana; three sons: Larry Reed, Billy Reed, both of Estill County; and Steve Reed, Indiana; 23 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
    Visitation for the public was held Wednesday, December 30, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Marvin Neal with burial at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.

    Hershel Clay Hatton, age 84, of Ticky Fork Drive in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born March 29, 1936 in Estill County and was the son of the late John W. and Florence D. Frazier Hatton. He was a retired Martina Brothers employee and was a member of the Apostolic Church. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Combat Engineers.
    Mr. Hatton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elwanda Horn Hatton; his daughter: Sherri Faye Hatton Woody (Mitchell), North Carolina; two grandchildren: Samantha N. Woody and Justin M. Woody; and one great grandchild, Ella Mae Woody.
    He was preceded in death by five sisters, Lelia King, Frances Hatton, Ruby Hatton, Evelyn Rogers, Edith Sparks; and four brothers, William H., Harold, Harlie E. and Herbert Hatton.
    Visitation for the public will be held Monday, December 28, 2020, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Jeremy Peavie with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

    Alverta Farris, age 70, of Winston Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at her home following a sudden illness.
    She was born March 1, 1950 in Madison County and was the daughter of the late Clayton and Jessie Mae Hardy Brandenburg. She was a retired caretaker and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
    Alverta is survived by two daughters: Jennifer DeSpain (Rob), Florida; and Robin Farris, Louisville; one son, Thomas Farris (Christy), Tennessee; three sisters: Lena Rhodus, Louisiana; Teresa Hughes, Texas; and Rene West, Madison County; one brother, Ronald Brandenburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren and and great grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Brandenburg.
    Visitation for the public will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Providence Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30th, 11:00 a.m., at the Church by Bro. Bill VanWinkle.

    Bobbie Lewis Woosley, age 81, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Golden Rule nursing home in Richmond, Indiana.
    Bobbie was born to John Wilson and Leoma Howard Woosley on March 27, 1939 in Estill County, Kentucky. He married Gladys Vires, May 22, 1964, in Liberty, Indiana, and together they had four beautiful children. Bobbie had a passion for cars, watching nature shows, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed tipping back the occasional beer and playing cards with his friends. Bobbie will be remembered as a man who was liked by all, and will be truly missed by those who knew him.
    Bobbie is survived by his sons: John Lewis Woosley (Kimberly), Donald “Glenn” Woosley (Misty), and Christopher Lee Woosley; a daughter, Patricia Kelly (Clifford); a sister, Janice Reynolds of Irvine, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his wife and parents, Bobbie is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Woosley; and a sister, Faye Havens.
    A private funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

    Valdah Christine Thomas Smith, age 92, widow of Buford D. “Smitty” Smith, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
    She was born on May 16, 1928 in Estill County to the late Beachum and Jennetta "Nettie" Walton Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church.
    Mrs. Smith is survived by daughters, Paulette Snowden (Ronnie) and Pam Staton (Dennis); a son, Randy Smith (Lesa); grandchildren, Ronnie Snowden Jr. (Sarah Jane), Brooke Snowden, Tara Kirk (Robbie), Michelle Hollon, Kristin Smith, and Devin Smith; great grandchildren, Oliver Snowden, Crosby Snowden, Kaitlyn Shoemaker, Blake Shoemaker, Jacob Sandefur and Jazlyn Higgins; her sister-in-laws, Betty Smith and Ruby Moore; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by nine siblings.
    Private graveside services will be held at Clarmont Memorial Gardens by Reverend Jerry Johns.

    JT Powell, age 93, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
    He was born in Estill County, May 2, 1927 to Francis Marion "Frank" Powell Jr. and Annie Warner Powell. He was a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the Blue Grass Army Depot.
    Mr. Powell is survived by a son, Glen Powell; a daughter, Patricia Miller (Roger), six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion Jr. and Annie Warner Powell; a daughter, Ima Jean Cord; a grandson, Jason Miller; five brothers, Cecil, Owen, Estill, Tom, and Raymond Powell; and two sisters, Mildred Collins and Marie Young.
    Visitation will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel, 201 7th Avenue in Clay City, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 Noon at the Powell’s Valley Cemetery in Clay City with Bro. Marion Brewer officiating..

    Larry Dean Collins, age 65, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    He was born April 15, 1955 in Jackson, Kentucky, to Herbert and Betty Fugate Collins. He was a pastor of the Full Gospel Evangelistic Ministries in Irvine for the past 25 years.
    Mr. Collins is survived by his father, Herbert Collins; his wife, Sheila Collins; two daughters: Stephane Taulbee (Billy Jr.) and Bobbie Miller (Michael); six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a brother, Tom Collins (Janie); and a sister, Yolanda Anderson (Rob).
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Fugate Collins; two brothers, Merlin and Linville Collins; and three sisters, Belinda, Sherry and Rebecca Collins.
    Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Full Gospel Evangelistic Ministries, 400 Duck Wear Road, Irvine, with Bro. Bill Wesley officiating. Friends may visit Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in the Larry Collins Cemetery in Irvine.

    Thelma Faye Richardson, age 86, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Kenwood Health & Rehab Center.
    She was born in Estill County, Kentucky on March 25, 1934 to the late Harlow and Susan Harris Richardson. Thelma was of the Christian Faith and was baptized in 1961 at the Newby Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her son, Garnett Isbell Jr. (Myra); a special niece, Sue Byrd (Tony); one brother, Paul Richardson; one sister, Eula Johnson (Billy); as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, Ed and Earl Richardson; and her twin sister who passed away at 6 months old, Orie May Richardson.
    A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Berea Cemetery where entombment will follow. Due to COVID-19 mandates, social distancing and face coverings are requested.

    Born in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fleming and Rowena Roberts Newton. Joretta was a homemaker.
    In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Estes.
    Joretta is survived by her two sons, Jeff Estes (Brenda) of Fayette County; and Brian Estes (Pam) of Estill County; one brother, Dick Newton (Debbie) of Florida; two sisters: Pat Brown of Florida, and Joline Hughes (Charles) of Estill County; and three grandchildren, Adam Estes, Megan Estes, and Lily Estes, all of Estill County.
    Funeral services officiated by Bro. Chris Greene will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Lewis-Abner Funeral Home. Public visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, until time of service.     He was born August 18, 1941 in Estill County and was the son of the late James and Mary Ann McKinney Davis. He was a former employee of Davis H. Elliott Electric and attended the Baptist Church. He was a musician who enjoyed playing the guitar, mandolin, banjo and french harp.
    Pleas had lived in Estill County most of his life and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Whitted Davis; two daughters: Sharon Young (Michael), Morehead; and Regina Davis, Irvine; one son, Stanley Davis, Irvine; a sister, Elaine Powell (Gary), Ravenna; three brothers: James Davis (Joann), Ohio; Johnny Davis, Richmond; and Patrick Doyle (Cheryl), Tennessee; two grandchildren: Christina Manes and Amanda Young; and two great grandchildren, Lily and Johnathan
    He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Davis; and five siblings, Opal Chaney, Mattie Goeltzenleuchter, Donna McIntosh, Betty Chaney and Larry Paul Davis.
    Private graveside services were held Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Turpin Cemetery by Donnie Watson.

    Woodrow W. Dixon, Jr., age 77, of McKee Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a sudden illness.
    He was the son of the late Woodrow W. Dixon and Mollie Sparks Dixon Estes and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a retired Trane employee and a former member of the National Guard. He was a devout Christian and attended the Providence Baptist Church.
    Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife of many good years, Levaron Harrison Dixon; his daughter, Angela Lopell Dixon, Irvine; a sister, Frances Martin (Marvin), Irvine; two brothers: Jacob Estes (Connie) and Jack Maness (Laura), both of Irvine; and a sister-in-law, Opal Gadd, Berea.
    He was preceded in death by two siblings, Matilda Richardson and Michael Maness.
    Visitation for the public was held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 24th by Bro. Tim Roberts and Bro. Billy Lyndon Stamper with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers were Daniel Plowman, Cecil Plowman, Howard Rogers, Kenny Webb, Sam Sparks and Sam Berryman.
    Honorary pallbearers were all his friends and all the members of the Providence Baptist Church.
