Opal Riddell

    Opal Riddell, age 81, of Pea Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born August 20, 1939 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willy and Eva Lamb Scenters. She was a retired employee of the F.W. Rickard Seed Company and was a member of the Pea Ridge Holiness Church.
    Mrs. Riddell was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Riddell.
    She is survived by one daughter, Shellie Grace Yarber (James), Madison County; two sons: Billy Dwayne Riddell (Patty) and Christopher Odell Riddell (Lisa), both of Estill County; 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
    Mrs. Riddell was preceded in death by one son, Mark Edward Riddell; and seven siblings, Gracie Estes, Emily Hymer, Naomi Walling, Bertha Riddell, Gladys Steel, Chester Scenters and Wesley Scenters.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. by Bro. Hargus Gordon at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Riddell Family Cemetery.

Ralph King

    Ralph King, age 81, of Mockingbird Lane in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born February 8, 1940 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Moore King. He was a farmer and a retired Sylvania employee. He attended the Irvine First Church of God and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. King is survived by his wife, Mary Jane “Carlene” Wolfinbarger King; two daughters: Donna Hinds, Somerset; and Kimberley Moore, Estill County; two sons: Tommy King and David King, both of Estill County; one sister, Frieda Deaton, Wolfe County; 16 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph King, Jr. and Randy King; and four siblings, Faye White, Mae Crowe, Ernest King and Ray King.
    Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., by Bro. Eric Patrick at the funeral home. Burial will be at the King Family Cemetery.
    Pallbearers are Mathew King, Jonathon King, Randy King, Steven King, David Allen King, Dustin Moore, Derrick Moore, Phillip King and Chris Hinds.

Richard Allen Fox

    Richard Allen Fox, age 80, of Waco, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home.
    Richard was born on February 23, 1941 in Richmond, Kentucky, and was the son of Cyrus Allen Fox and Eva McBee Fox, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a member of Flatwoods Christian Church, served in the Army National Guard, and was a retired quality control inspector with Continental Metal Specialty (C.M.S.). He enjoyed woodworking, farming, and restoring & showing antique tractors.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Faye Sams Fox.
    Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Ann Henderson (David) of Richmond; one son, Timothy Craig Fox (Kelly) of Waco; three grandsons, Joshua Henderson, Caleb Henderson, and Tyler Fox; and two brothers, Marion Fox and Tom Fox.
    Funeral services for Richard Fox will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Bro. John McCord officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers are Tony Fox, Wade Fox, Joshua Henderson, Caleb Henderson, Tyler Fox, and Don Brandenburg.
    Honorary bearers are Johnny Edwards, Ralph Childers, Jimmy Shanks, and Roger Dale Rhodus.

Anastasia Watson Harris

    Anastasia Watson Harris, age 57, widow of Dennis Ray Harris Jr., of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Saint Joseph Hospital.
    Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of Susan Lane and the late Robert Watson.
    In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Israel Carey; one sister, Deana Goforth; and one nephew, Brooks Mullinx.
    She is survived by her mother, Susan Lane; two daughters, Alexis Carey of Clay City, Kentucky and Cassandra Patrick (Manuel Nolasco) of Lexington; four sons, Jessie Patrick, Josh Patrick, Larry Patrick and Caleb Carey; one brother, Kenny Watson; one nephew, Dylan Wetmoore; two nieces, Heather Watson and Susan Wetmoore; and ten grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 at Mountain Springs Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.

Jerry Fields

    Jerry Fields, age 66, of Red Lick Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his residence.
    He was born in Independence, Missouri, June 13, 1954 to Gerald and Wanda Fields. He was a carpenter.
    Mr. Fields is survived by his wife, Ann Fields of Irvine; a son, Rusty Price (Tina) of Berea; a daughter, Michelle Price of Irvine; eight grandchildren, three great -grandchildren; two brothers, Mark and Johnny Fields, both of Independence, Missouri; and three sisters, Jeanie Forkcum, Candy Fields and Tammy Fields, all of Independence, Missouri.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Wanda Fields; and a son, Jerry Don “JD” Fields.
    Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine. Friends may visit Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until time of the service.

    Gary Joe Embs, age 83, of Reily Township, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
    He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on November 21, 1937, the son of Delbert and Lenna Allen Embs. On August 11, 1964 in Liberty, Indiana, he married Linda Sue Howard. Gary was employed in the housing and dining department at Miami University for more than forty years, retiring in 2013. He was a member of Kerusso Baptist Church in Hamilton.
    Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Embs; one son, Phillip Embs (Michelle); three siblings, Betty Sue Winkle, Doyle Embs (Diane), and Patty Tudor (Bob); two grandchildren, Ashley Canada (Thomas) and Travis Joe Embs; three great grandchildren, Emma, Lacie, and Danny; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death his parents; four siblings, Margie, Larry, Delbert Jr., and Donnie; and a special brother-in-law, Densil Howard.
    The funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Kris Theobald of Kerusso Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 Noon to service time at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Marion Hall, age 77, of Blue Run Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Baptist Health in Lexington following a long illness.
    He was born January 29, 1944 in Powell County and was the son of the late Dell and Abbie Ann McCoy Hall. He served in the United States Army and was retired from Okonite. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Bonnie Joyce Barnett Hall; three sons: Jeffrey Dell Hall (Suzi Freeman), Darren Ray Hall, both of Irvine; and Bryan Keith Hall (Stacy), Danville; one sister, Janice Newcomb, Powell County; two brothers: Raymond Hall and Danny Hall, both of Powell County; eight grandchildren: Sondra Watson, April Tegtmeier, Logan Hall, Kaitlyn Robinson, Trenton Hall, Alesia Webb, Sarah Freeman and Andrew Chaney; five great grandchildren: Lane Watson, Karson Tegtmeier, Johnathan Robinson, Peyton Robinson and Sawyer Webb; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Durham; and two brothers, Tom and Donald Hall.
    Visitation for the public was held Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Joe Hall with burial at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Logan Hall, Trenton Hall, Greg Hall, Steve Barnett, Andrew Chaney, Kevin Tegtmeier, and Justin Watson.

Eva Eliza Durbin Rice, 90

Eva Eliza Durbin Rice

    A memorial to celebrate the life of Eva Eliza Durbin Rice will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paris Cemetery Chapel, 1603 Main Street in Paris, Kentucky.
    She died peacefully on July 27, 2020, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 90.
    Eva is survived by her children, Robert Rice, Mary Beth Whitehouse, and Sharon Taylor; a son-in-law, Mark Whitehouse; a grandson, Warren Taylor; two siblings, Herman Scott Durbin and Wanda Wilson; and a large extended family.
    She was born on June 14, 1930, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Herman and Birdie Howell Durbin. Eva attended and graduated from nursing school, and worked as a nurse at Gillium, Blackburn and Ray Urology until her retirement. She married Maurice Rice.
    Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Myra Embry.
    In her spare time, Eva enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, attending Central Christian Church, and cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her name to either the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.

Donnie C. Embs

    Donnie C. Embs, age 89, of Tuttle Road, in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, after an extensive battle with cancer.
    He was born December 17, 1931, in Estill County, a son of the late Delbert N. and Lenna Allen Embs. He spent most of his life in Estill and Clark Counties, except for a few years in Oxford, Ohio.
    Although Donnie operated a country store in Clark County named Winetown Grocery for 20 years and worked several years at Bundy Tubing, his real love was farming and real estate. He successfully bought and sold many farms and houses in Clark and Estill Counties. He was a kind and generous man, always willing to help out when needed.
    He is survived by four sons: Dwayne Embs, Randall Embs, Gregory Embs, and Michael Embs; four siblings: Doyle Embs (Diane), Lexington; Gary Joe Embs (Linda), Oxford, Ohio; Patricia Tudor (Robert), Lexington; and Betty Winkle, Irvine; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Simpkins; Shawn, Ryan, and Cory Embs; Ashley Christi, Alecia Maines; Jonathan and Macie Embs; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great grandson, Dustin Simpkins, who died of cancer in 2012; a sister, Marjorie Pennock; and two brothers, Delbert Embs Jr. and Larry Jack Embs.
    Visitation for the public was from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Marvin Neal with burial at the Oakdale Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Randall Embs, Gregory Embs, Michael Embs, Ryan Embs, Cory Embs and Philllip Joe Embs.

    Robert Riddell, age 70, of Hoys Fork in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    He was born July 5, 1950 in Estill County and was the son of the late Virgil and Pauline Turner Riddell. He worked as an auto mechanic at the Tom Boian Garage. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed listening to WLJC. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Riddell is survived by six daughters: Melissa Hopkins (James), Paula McCane (Victor), both of Irvine; Robin Hall (Brian), Richmond; Denae Alloway (Aaron), Lexington; Nicole Calmes, Richmond; and Vanessa Townsend (Johnny), Stanton; two sisters: Ruth Farthing and Lorena Willis (Junior), both of Irvine; two brothers: Joe Riddell and Richard Riddell, both of Irvine; 15 grandchildren: James Hopkins, Davena Graves, Kevin Hoover, Shelby Hoover, Dawson Hall, Duncan Hall, Jaelyn Hall, Caleb Moore, Jordan Alloway, Emilee Calmes, Colton Collins, Braiden Townsend, Bailee Townsend, Braxton Townsend and Brynlee Townsend; two great grandchildren: Sawyer Molton and Aella Hoover; and special friends: Ruby Cain and Denisha Marcum.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Willis; and two brothers, Cecil and Marion Riddell.
    Visitation for the public was held Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Jerry Rose with burial at the West Irvine Cemetery.

    Betty Ann Dunigan, age 83, of Cherry Road Court in Berea, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at the Baptist Health in Lexington following a long illness.
    She was born August 26, 1937 in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Dorothy Johnson Terry. She was a home healthcare provider and a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Church. She had lived in Jackson County most of her life.
    Mrs. Dunigan was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Dunigan; and is survived by her sister, Josephine King, Wilmington, Ohio; and three nieces: Kathy Cole, Karen Bailey and Debbie Morgan.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Campbell; and three brothers, Charles, James Earl and Merdia Ray Terry.
    Visitation for the public was held Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Private funeral services were conducted by Bro. Kevin Phillips with burial at the Cobb Hill Cemetery.
