Audrey Mae Adams

    Audrey Mae Adams, age 94, of Poplar Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
    She was born October 3, 1926 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Crowe Abney. She was a retired employee of the Irvine Health Care Center and was a member of the Ravenna Church of God. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Adams; and is survived by two daughters: Alma Gay Freimuth, Bellevue; and Shelia Deloris Adams, Irvine; two brothers: Arthur Lee Abney and Hubert Clay Abney, both of Ohio; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wavelene Adams Tipton; and eight siblings: Viola Heid, Beulah Lewis, Alene Moore, Lucille McIntosh, Ruth Whittaker, Eugene Abney, Roy Thomas Abney and Berry Virgil Abney.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Winkler and Donnie Watson officiating. Burial will be at the Kennon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m.

Shirley June Goodell

    Shirley June Goodell, age 73, of Ticky Fork Drive in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the Baptist Health in Richmond.
    She was born November 29, 1947 in Louisville and was the daughter of the late Frank Valentine Birchfield and Virginia Penn Birchfield. She attended the Restoration Community Church and had lived in California most of her life.
    Shirley is survived by one daughter: Genia McKinney, Irvine; two sons: Elvis Koerner, Greenville, Illinois; and Christopher Henson, Ravenna; two stepchildren: Christine Nicodemus and David Goodell, both of Georgia; two brothers: Frank Birchfield and Jerry Birchfield, both of California; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Gagnon.
    Memorial services will be held at a later date.

James Earl Woolery

    James Earl Woolery, age 66. of 9650 McKee Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at his home with his children and wife by his side after a short illness.
    James was born May 6, 1955 and was the son of the late Horace and Rachel Kirby Woolery.
    He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sherry Carroll Woolery; two children, Kimberly Marie Woolery of Stanford, and Joseph Earl Woolery of Irvine; three grandchildren: Katlyn Coleman of Stanford, Rachel Brown of Lancaster, and Parker Woolery of Irvine; three siblings, Imogene Goosey, Lloyd Woolery (Margie)and William Woolery (Linda), all of Irvine.
    James was a former welder at Ajax in Madison County, and he was the owner of Bybee Grocery in Madison Count from 1986/2003. He also worked at Nacco in Berea. At the end of his life, he was an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of the New Antioch Church in Lancaster.
    Memorial services will be held for James at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Glory Street, West Irvine, on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Visitation with the family will be held 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with a bereavement meal provided by Calvary Baptist in the Fellowship Hall.
    James would have wanted everyone to come share the meal with his family and share their stories of him.

Glenda Faye Cole

    Glenda Faye Cole, age 76, of Benson Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Baptist Health in Richmond following a short illness.
    She was born August 19, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late John Wesley McDonald and Drucilla Riddell McDonald. She was retired from the Estill County School System and was a member of the Outreach Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Cole; and is survived by four sons: Ernest Bledsoe, Estill County; Robert “Bobby” Bledsoe, Fayette County; John Bledsoe, Madison County; and Jack Bledsoe, California; one sister, Vendylon Capps, Clark County; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Bledsoe; and four siblings, Shirley Wright, Deleta McIntosh, Dean Rose and Liville McDonald.
    Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 23, 1:00 p.m., at the Outreach Church with Bro. Jerry Rose officiating. Burial was at the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 1:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m., at the Outreach Church.
    Pallbearers were Nick Bledsoe, Chris Bledsoe, Carlos Ray Richardson, Dwight Horn, Danny Conrad and Rick Lunsford.

    Charles Ambrouse Turner passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021. He was born May 23, 1934 in Jackson County, Kentucky.
    Charles is survived by his wife, Juanita Lynch Turner of Waco, Kentucky; and by the following children, Rhonda Gail Turner of Irvine, Erick Keith Turner (Ranae) of Somerset, Charles Millard Turner (Rebecca), Amanda Gail Turner, both of McKee, Will Fox (Nicole) of Madison County, Shawn Callicoat of Jackson County, Jeannetta Stanley (Eric) of Ecuador, South America, Laura Conrad (Danny) of Madison County, and Joyce Rifenbark (Karl) of Irvine. He is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Malicote of Sand Gap and Mae Coyle of Berea. Charles was blessed with 22 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three siblings, Randall Donnie Turner, Wanda Thompson and Barbara Isaacs.
    Funeral service were at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street South, McKee, with Bro. Darrell Isaacs officiating. Burial followed in the Ed Durham Cemetery.

    Judith Lynn Abney, age 73, of Pineway Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    She was born April 29, 1948 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Joe Dudley Dozier and Laura Eunice Tipton Dozier. She was a retired Phillips Lighting employee and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life and is survived by her husband, Donald Ray Abney; and two sisters: Sandra Dozier Williams and Libby Dozier Sipple.
    Mrs. Abney was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Griffith and her brother, Joey Dozier.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 21, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at 1:00 p.m.

    Tommy Lewis Henry, age 77, of Campbells Branch Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born February 24, 1944 in Estill County and was the son of the late Black and Edna Rawlins Henry. He was a retired Allen Company employee and was of the Holiness faith. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Carol Sparks Henry; and is survived by two sons: George Henry (Holly) and Boyd Henry, both of Estill County; five sisters: Lois Plowman, Lilly Marcum, Barbara Tipton, Peggy Isaacs, and Virginia Willis (Bill), all of Estill County; and four brothers: Ernest Henry, Glenn Henry, Steve Henry, all of Estill County; and Roy Henry, Jefferson County.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Dean Rader.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 20, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vern Goodman and Bro. Phillip Smith officiating. Burial was at the Barnes Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, August 19th from 6 to 9 p.m.

    Daniel Millard Alcorn, Jr., age 78, of Armour Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the Mercy Health Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.
    He was born June 18, 1943 in Estill County and was the son of the late Daniel and Edith Beckler Alcorn. He was the former owner of the Shepherd Truck Line and was a member of the Estill County Golf Club. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Alcorn is survived by his wife, Melanie Bratton Alcorn; two daughters: Jackie McGee, Richmond; and Susan Freeman, Irvine; one son, John Alcorn (Michelle), Lexington; four sisters: Joyce Harrison, Irvine; Anna Smyth, Richmond; Carolyn Neal, and Debbie Williams, both of Irvine; two brothers: Harold Alcorn and Kenneth Alcorn, both of Irvine; five grandchildren: Michael Alcorn, Chris Alcorn, Jacob Alcorn, Mikka McGee and Chelsea Ritchie (David); and seven great grandchildren: Isaac Alcorn, Dante Alcorn, Kali McGee, Jayden Ritchie, Isaiah Clapper, Hadley Ritchie and Emersyn Ritchie.
    He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Andrea McGee; and two siblings, Marty Hannigan and Charles Alcorn.

    Pamela Jean Richardson, age 62, of Court Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short bout with cancer.
    She was born July 12, 1959 in Madison County and was the daughter of George Richardson and the late Carolyn Hall Richardson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sandhill Christian Church.
    Survivors in addition to her father include her husband, Wayne Richardson; one daughter, Ashley Adams, Estill County; three stepchildren: Racheal Horn (Cecil), April Farthing (Jimmy), and Michael Richardson, all of Estill County; one sister, Susan Lay (Ben), Estill County; two brothers: Roger Richardson (Teresa), Madison County; and Randall Richardson (Kate), Estill County; and eight grandchildren: Dylan Adams, Allison Adams, Parker Adams, Ava Adams, Darrell Horn, Kyra Farthing, Aiden Richardson and Briana Richardson.

    Edna Frances Cusick, age 93, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home following a long illness.
    She was born April 2, 1928 in Bronxville, New York, and was the daughter of the late Paul and Stephanie Amulus Gavalis. She was a former nursery school teacher and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima. She was also a member of the Mixed Nuts.
    Mrs. Cusic was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walter Cusick; and is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Edna Jones (Steven) and Cynthia Ann Cusick (Scott Beath), both of Irvine; two sons: James Craig Cusick, Washington; and Lawrence Charles Cusick (Kelly), New Hampshire; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Edward Cusick; and three sisters, Ann Gavalis, Mary Conroy, and Helen Gavalis; and four brothers, Charles, Joseph Vincent and Frank Gavalis.

    James Edgar Rose, age 88, of Henry White Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born May 11, 1933 in Estill County and was the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Mansfield Rose. He was a retired auto body mechanic and had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Witt Rose; and is survived by: two daughters: Pamela Chaney (Jason) and Shelia Riddell (Johnny), both of Estill County; three sons: James Rose, David Rose and Jeff Rose, all of Estill County; two sisters: Lucille Moore (Jim) and Betty Rose, both of Estill County; one brother, Paul Rose (Betty Lou), Estill County; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Rose; and a sister, Juanita Rose.

    She was born February 14, 1939 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Herman and Viola McKinney Osborne. She was a homemaker and attended the Flatwoods Christian Church.
    Mrs. Angel is survived by her husband, James Ancil Angel; one son, Jeffrey Allen Angel (Jeanna), Irvine; one sister, Novel Davis, Madison County; four grandchildren: Shawn Farmer, Jeffrey Angel II, Mackenzie Angel and Kayleigh Angel; and one great grandchild, Ayden Angel.
    She was preceded in death by two children, Debra Lynn Angel Farmer and James Anthony Angel; and four siblings, Betty Jean Coffey, Louise Terry, Eleanor Flynn and Junior Osborne.

Thelma Jean Mills

    Thelma Jean Mills was born August 1st, 1938, to Clayton and Geneva Johnson Abney. She was the former Thelma Jean Abney, a native to Winston, Kentucky. Her career as an insurance agent began in Hamilton, Ohio and extended as she moved to Kissimmee, Florida where she retired.
    Her family is saddened to announce her passing on Monday, August 9th, 2021, in her home surrounded by loving family as she peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
    She is survived by three sisters: Estella Sue Bonny, Kissimmee, Florida; Jessica Irene Abney, Lexington; and Rebecca Faye Flynn, Irvine; a brother, Cecil Abney, Flatwoods; a stepdaughter, Anita Rae Mills, Richmond, Indiana; and a grandson, Colton Gabbard, US Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd class. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who loved her dearly.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Geneva Louise Fritz; and two brothers: Clayton Abney Jr., and Woodson Charles Abney.
    Jean was a beloved member of the St. Cloud Missionary Baptist Church in St Cloud, Florida.
    Florida funeral arrangements are to be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Osceola Memory Gardens. Address: 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, 34744. Officiated by her pastor Brother Rodney Rowe. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and services will be held at 5 p.m.
    Kentucky services were held Wednesday August 18, 2021 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and graveside services starting around 1:15 p.m. at Turpin Cemetery on Winston Road in Irvine with Dr. Jeffrey Fugate officiating.
    Pallbearers were Jack Taylor, Roger Davis, David Lewis, Larry Sons, Chris Sons and Flynn Rodgers.
    In lieu of flowers Jean has requested donations to be made to the St. Cloud Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 702012, St. Cloud 34770-2012.

    Sonya Gail Sutton, age 42, of Sarvice Hollow Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at her home.
    She was born September 25, 1978 in Estill County and was the daughter of Archie Lee and Elaine Conrad Angel. She was a former employee of Grange Insurance and attended St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Survivors in addition to her father and mother, include her daughter, Taylor Breann Sutton, Monticello; three sisters: Showna Angel (Dustin), Estill County; Michille Angel Riddell (Scott), Estill County; and Melissa Fields Anderson (Scott), Clark County; one brother, Josh Angel (Kim), Estill County; uncles and aunts: Verlin Conrad (Jenny), Gary Conrad (Leasa), Orvin Conrad (Judy), Calvin Conrad, Mickie Conrad (Phyllis), Stanley Ray Kelly (Sharon), Loretta Kelly (Bill) and Dora Angel; three honorary sisters: Diana Collins, Jessica Noland and Amy Thomas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by her brother, Jonathon Angel; and her husband, Nate Sutton.

    He was born May 29, 1955 in Estill County and was the son of Nannie Willis Hunt and the late Clarence Hunt. He was a carpenter and had lived in Madison County most of his life. Survivors in addition to his mother include:

    Sam Brewer Jr., husband of Shirley Robinson Brewer for 56 years passed peacefully at his residence after a hard-fought battle of pancreatic cancer on Sunday, August 8, 2021 surrounded by those he loved dearly. Sam would have been 81 years of age on August 19, 2021.
    Besides his loving wife, Shirley, he is survived by two sons: Brian Brewer of Irvine and Phillip Brewer (Han) of Yorktown, Virginia; and two devoted grandsons: Jacob Brewer FCA-2 of the United States Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia; and Matthew Brewer of Yorktown, Virginia.
    Sam was a native of Jackson County, Kentucky, born August 19, 1940, and grew up with ten siblings; two surviving siblings are: Lloyd Brewer of Fort Myers, Florida; and Mary Jane Winstead Jones of Berea. He is also survived by a host of nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly as they did him.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Gracie Maupin Brewer; six brothers: Billy Paul Brewer, Clyde Brewer, Cecil Brewer, Lewis Brewer, Clifton Brewer, Dewey Brewer, and JH Brewer; and one sister Olga Brewer Allen.
    Sam worked diligently & retired after 30 years for IBM – Lexmark. Throughout the years of his work career, he served in the KY House of Representatives for his district for 2 terms and also served as a board member for the Estill County Board of Education. He leaves behind many dear friends that still treasure his friendship.
    He loved his family. He loved visiting and just taking Shirley rides throughout the countryside to reminiscence about times long gone. Sam and Shirley enjoyed many winters in Ft. Myers, FL. He leaves behind Florida friends that loved him for his kindness that he always exhibited in daily life.
    Sam loved his church and church family. He attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Irvine.
    Funeral services will be held at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home in Irvine. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sam was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as a Mason for 40+ years. Masonic rights will be held Thursday 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday, August 13th at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Irvine Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be his grandson, Jacob, and Sam’s nephews.

    She was born March 23, 1980 in Clark County and was the daughter of Kenneth Robinson and the late Mary Elizabeth Tipton Coffey. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Survivors, in addition to her father, include two daughters: Diseree Roe and Jasmine Roe, both of Clark County; and one brother, Clarence Tipton, Estill County.
    Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 12, 2021, 12 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lloyd Woolery officiating. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 Noon.
    Pallbearers were Kenneth Robinson, Larry Robinson, Jason Parks, Lenny Tipton, Lance Tipton and Mark Rogers.
