Brenda Lee Cackling Chaney, age 82, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at her home.
She was born on March 28, 1940, in Irvine, to the late Eugene Kelly and Beulah Richardson Flynn. She attended the Easter Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond. She was also a member of the J.O.Y. / B. ykoya ministry
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Sapp; one son, Jerry Howe; and one sister, Virginia Flynn Combs.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Oakley E. Chaney; a son, Robert Sipes; one sister, Pat Maney (Bobby); and two brothers, Bill Flynn and Buddy Flynn (Janice). Stepchildren include Michael Ballard (Rene), Richard Cackling Jr. (Mary), Debra Longo, Joseph Cackling (Nancy), Susan Cackling, Thomas Cackling, Cheryl Ann Carlton, David Chaney (Libby), Rick Chaney (Kathy), and Debbie Marshall (John); seventeen grandchildren including three special grandchildren, Brittany Kelly and (Dereck), Rachel McDuff (Joey), and Angie Sapp, along with numerous great grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Brenda Lee Cackling Chaney will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Easter Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Sam Miller and Rev. Wesley Miller will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joy Lou Dunaway Jenkins, 87

Joy Lou Dunaway Jenkins was born on August 16, 1934 in Irvine, Kentucky, and passed away on April 25, 2022 in Georgetown, at the age of 87. Joy was one of of 15 children born to the late Charlie and Martha Powell Dunaway.
She was a member of the Stonewall First Church of God in Sadieville, retired from Georgetown Cable, enjoyed working word search puzzles and dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On March 2, 1957 she was united in marriage with Avery Leroy Jenkins who preceded her in death in 2017.
Joy is survived by her son, Ivan L. Jenkins (Michelle) of Sadieville; three daughters: Martha May Canter of Cynthiana, Sherry Kay McClurg (Bud) of Georgetown, and Armeda G. Gambrell (Tommy) of Sadieville; six brothers: Hayden Dunaway (Kathy) of Sadieville, Clinton Dunaway (Betty) of Corinth, Sam Dunaway (Marilyn) of Irvine, Tommy Dunaway (Barb) of Corinth, Leroy Dunaway (Susan) of Cynthiana, and David Dunaway of Louisville; three sisters: Brenda Walton (Nelson) of Louisville, Carol Shuler (Sid) of Corinth, and Donna Green of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 14 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dallas, William, and Jerry Dunaway; and three
sisters, Jean Shelton, Bertheda Jones, and Janice Dunaway.
Visitation was 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29th at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Corinth I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Corinth.

Arlene Chaney, 88

Arlene Chaney, age 88, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, April 25, 2022, at The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berea.
She was born on August 28, 1933, in Irvine, to the late James Wesley and Dessa Pearl King Flynn. She was a member of the Greenbriar Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Ray Chaney Sr.; one daughter, Paulene Chaney; and two brothers, Farris and Lamon Flynn.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth Ray Chaney (Doris) of Irvine, Eulane Gardner (Tommy) of Hodgenville, and James Chaney of Irvine; nine grandchildren, Lisa Marie Kraft, Mark Trimble, Tabitha French, Chris Chaney, Brittany Chaney, Cheyanna Kelly, Stephanie Woolery, Carrie Chaney, and Wesley Delver; four great grandchildren, Isabella Short, Issiah Kraft, Bryson Dixon, and Skyler Chaney; six brothers, Clay Flynn, Earnest Flynn (Martha), Dale Flynn, Frank Flynn (Beverly), Glendel Flynn (Brenda) and Jerry Flynn (Shari); two sisters, Verneda Miller and Edonnas Patrick (Arnold); as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Arlene Chaney will be conducted on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Sam Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in the Levi Sparks Cemetery in Irvine. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be, Mark Trimble, Chris Chaney, Wesley Delver, Sam Woolery, Greg Flynn, and Earl Flynn.
After services on Saturday there will be a family dinner at Easter Valley Baptist Church that everyone is invited to attend.

Lyle Honchell McDowell passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the age of 102, joining his wife, Marron Frances Moore McDowell, who passed away on July 6, 2009 at the age of 87.
Mr. McDowell was born April 22, 1919 in Beattyville, Kentucky, and moved to Irvine with his parents, James Allen and Maude Ella Wilson McDowell, in 1920. He began his education at West Irvine Elementary School and graduated from Irvine High School in 1936. He attended Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College (now Eastern Kentucky University) for two years and graduated from Colorada A&M College (now Colorado State University) in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry.
He earned a commission in the United States Naval Reserve and served as the Commanding Officer of the USS APC 98 in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. After his release from active duty, Mr. McDowell remained in the Naval Reserve and retired with the rank of Commander.
Following his active duty, he earned a Master's Degree in Forest Recreation in preparation for commencing work with the National Park Service as a park ranger in April 1948 at the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park in Asheville, North Carolina. During his 30-year career, he served in four national parks (Blue Ridge Parkway, Everglades, Rocky Mountain and Glacier National Park), two regional offices, and the Washington office where he served as First Chief, Branch of Natural Resources Management. His last assignment was Associate Regional Director of Operations, Western Region, San Francisco, California, from where he retired in April 1977 after 37 years of Federal service.
After his retiremenbt in 1977, the McDowells relocated to Oceanside, California, where he realized a life-long dream to own a sailboat. He purchased a 26-foot sloop which he sailed for ten years.
Mrs. McDowell was born May 5, 1922 in Monroe, Louisiana, to J. Edward and Ann Etta Moore. She spent her early life in Duluth, Minnesota; Vero Beach, Florida; and Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Addison High School in Dallas followed by the College of Marin in San Rafael, California, from which she graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts Degree.
During World War II, she was a hostess at the Dallas USO Club where she met her future husband, Lyle H. McDowell. They were married January 8, 1946 and had two children, James Edward and Pamela Ann.
Mrs. McDowell's passions were her family and her art. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. While her husband served as Chief Ranger at Glacier National Park, she began a serious study of art in painting, which became her passion for the remainder of her life. She studied under several leading art teachers in the United States over the next ten years and her skill and talent blossomed. Her paintings appeared in many adjudicated art shows, both local and international, where her work received numerous awards and recognition. She was a member of several local art organizations and served as Vice President of the San Diego Watercolor Society in California where she coordinated the International Watercolor Exhibition. Mrs. McDowell maintained her interest in art and continued to paint throughout the rest of her life.
Mr. and Mrs. McDowell are survived by their son, James Edward McDowell of Manassas, Virginia; their daughter, Pamela Ann of Longmont, Colorado; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The cremains of Mr. and Mrs. McDowell are to be jointly interred in the Oakdale Cemetery in Irvine, adjacent to the graves of his sister and brother-in-law, Ethah W. and Wayne E. Cox, on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
James Steven Benton, 70

James Steven Benton, age 70, of Benson Pike in Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Baptist Health Louisville following a short illness.
He was born June 15, 1951, in Estill County and was the son of the late Milford and Mary Hall Benton. He was a salesman for Sysco Food Service and a United States Army Reserve veteran. He was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church and had lived in Estill County most his life.
Mr. Benton is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Gantt Benton; one daughter, Stephanie Benton of Estill County; three sons: Ricky Joe Benton (Chasity) of Estill County; Steven Tyler Benton and Adam Benton, both of Lexington; two step-daughters: Emily Santiago (Chris)of Washington and Katie Mayer (Dave) of Taylorsville; two sisters: Barsha Honchell (Larry) of Estill County and Sue Curtis of Madison County; one brother, Mark Benton (Kellie) of Madison County; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 29, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Roberts Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Joe Benton, Kade Benton, Noah Williams, Luke Williams, Dave Mayer, Steve Honchell, David Mayer and Grayson Benton.

Sister M. David Ruschmann, OSB, Villa Hills, Kentucky, died peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Walburg Monastery at age 95.
A Benedictine sister for over 75 years, Sr. David served as a nurse and nurse anesthetist at Santa Fe Hospital, La Junta, Colorado; and St. Joseph Hospital, Florence, Colorado; Director of Nursing at Madonna Manor, Villa Hills, Kentucky; Director of Nursing and Anesthesia at Estill County/Marcum and Wallace Hospital, Irvine; nurse anesthetist at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester; outreach service to the poor at St. Elizabeth Church, Ravenna; and many supportive services at St. Walburg Monastery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Motz Ruschmann; her sisters, Sister Clara, CDP, Sr. Joseph, OSB, Freda Schmitz, Sr. Agnes, OSB, Bernadette Cunningham, Theresa Humpert, and Agnes Rumker; and brothers, Joseph and William.
Sr. David is survived by her sister, Rita Keener; many nieces, nephews, friends and her Benedictine community.
Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, followed by visitation until 9:00 p.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27th at St. Walburg Monastery. Nannie Jean Willis Hunt, age 85, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, April 24, 2022, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Nannie was born in Irvine, Kentucky, on May 13, 1937, and lived in Estill County all her life. She was a charter member of the Valley View Baptist Church, and she spent a lifetime of serving others.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by her son, Teddy Hunt (Melissa);
her daughter, Charlotte Rose; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hunt;

Farry Marie Lakes was born July 29, 1938, in Estill County and departed this life Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond at the age of 83. She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Hannah Sparks Marcum.
On July 26, 1957, Farry married the love of her life, Elmer Lakes of McKee, and to this union was born eight children, Johnny Lakes (Connie) of Mt. Vernon, Wanda Tillery (Mike), Brenda Fox (Harold), both of McKee, Patricia Gray (Darel) of London, Jeff Lakes (Sherry), Jerry "Squeaky" Lakes, both of McKee, Jimmy Lakes (Shannon) of Madison County, and Jackie Lakes (Anita) of Lexington. She is also survived by two brothers, Poodle Marcum (Jeanette) of Louisville and Marvin Marcum (Frances) of Irvine; and by three sisters, Gearl Hembree (Kenneth) of Berea, Elizabeth Turner (Lanny) of Ohio and Alma Jenkins of Richmond. Farry was blessed with 22 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Farry was preceded in death by a great, great grandchild, Alyssa Marie Lakes; and by the following siblings, Chester, Leonard, Delbert, Lester, Cecil, Glenn, Hazel, Allie and Della Marcum, Mary Isaacs, and Sue Hurley.
Farry was a member of the Wind Cave Baptist Church.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2022 at Lakes Funeral Home, McKee, with her son, Bro. Jimmy Lakes officiating. Burial followed in the William Riley Lakes Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, April 24th, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born April 16, 1974 in Lexington to Eddie and Wanda Branham Sizemore.

Sharon Lynn Richardson Taylor, age 59, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Sharon was born on November 15, 1962, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Elmer Grant Richardson and Betty Lou Gould Lane.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Taylor; one daughter, Travenna Flynn (Stewart) of Irvine; one son, Dewayne Rose (Terri) of Winchester; five grandchildren, Lucas Flynn, Mahailee Combs, Allison Frazier, Zoey White, And Mayson White; two brothers, Tracy McQueen and Jeff Gould (Robin); one sister, Tonya Floyd (Gayle) of Irvine; a special niece and her family, Lakrisha Butzer and husband Andrew and their babies, Nola and Colin; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Willie Terry, age 82, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
He was born on November 6, 1939, in Beattyville, Kentucky to the late Cleveland and Mary Jane Newton Terry. Willie is survived by his loving companion of over 22 years, Norma Curry.
Willie is also survived by one daughter, Sandra Lewis; a grand son, Gregory Terry (Crystal); a great grandson, Hunter Terry; and six siblings, Alice Reece, Callie Bailey (George), Lee Ann Wilson (Ted), Emma Messer (Jerry), Chester Terry, and Bradley Terry (Margaret); along with numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by three sisters, Dora Estes, Norma Mosley, and Cora Collins; and one son, Ernest Dean Terry.

Floyd Lee Dawes, age 97, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center in Irvine, Kentucky.
Born on October 7, 1924, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late William Mack and Rachel Arvin Dawes, Floyd was a United States Navy veteran and a member of the Furnace Church of Christ. He was an accomplished artist who loved fishing, landscaping, electronics, country music, ice cream, and lemon drop candy.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawes is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 67 years, Edna Billings Dawes; his daughter, Myra Joyce Snyder (Dean); a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawes Perry; two brothers, William Dawes and Maurice Dawes; and four sisters, Evelyn Griffin, Thelma Hawkins, Mattie Bea Johnson, and Nellie Macy.
Survivors include his son, Edward Lee Dawes (Mary) of Loveland, Ohio; his daughter, Karen Michelle Colley (Tom) of Sterling Heights, Michigan; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and ten great, great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Joseph Dawes (Joyce) of St. Augustine, Florida; and one sister, Shirley Jean Hardy (Leonard) of Irvine; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Floyd Lee Dawes will be conducted on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Reverend Jerry Rose will officiate. Interment will follow in the Billings Cemetery in the Furnace Community. The family will receive friends, 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
