Christine S. Newton, 97
|
Christine S. Newton, age 97, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her home following a long illness.
She was born December 22, 1924 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Ruford and Grace Alcorn Sparks. She retired from Phillips Lighting and was a volunteer in her community. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a quilter and an avid reader. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her husband, Allen G. Newton Jr., and she is survived by two sons: Michael Newton (Rebecca) and Gary Newton (Lisa) both of Estill County; one daughter-in-law, Delores Newton of Estill County; five grandchildren: Joshua Newton, Justin Newton, Christopher Newton, Donald Keith Noble and Karen Dozier; two great grandchildren: Bethany Noble and Ashleigh Dozier; and two great, great grandchildren: Hadleigh Noble and Kallen Noble.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ruford Newton; one daughter, Carol Newton; three sisters, Catherine Flynn, Armeda Newton and Eugenia Vere; and two brothers, Gordon and Delmas Sparks.
Private funeral services will be conducted at a later date.
Pallbearersare Dan Ball, Anthony Newton, Christopher Newton, Joshua Newton, Justin Newton and Donald Keith Noble.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church in Irvine.

Roger William Guidinger, 83

Roger William Guidinger, age 83, of Wildflower Ridge in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at his home following a long illness.
He was born December 15, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was the son of the late Sylvester John and Mildred Mudler Guidinger. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and was the former owner of the Bumper to Bumper Auto Center.
Mr. Guidinger is survived by his wife, Mary Quosig Guidinger; two daughters: Sherry Eldridge (Bill) of Ravenna; and
Dorothy Guidinger of Florida; three sons: William Guidinger (Tracey) of South Carolina; Scott Guidinger (Susan) of Tennessee; and Frank Guidinger of Ravenna; eleven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Curtis and Keith Guidinger.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Doris Wilson Fraley, 88

Doris Wilson Fraley entered into her heavenly reward with her Savior on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born August 22, 1933 in Irvine, Kentucky and retired as an executive secretary of General Electric Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Doris saw the good in everyone and was always quick to help those in need. She loved her family fiercely and often bragged about her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pryse Leon Wilson; her mother, N. Pearl Wilson; brothers, William Earl Wilson and Wayne Leon Wilson; and a great grandson, Charles W. Oakes IV.
Those left to remember her and her heartwarming smile are her children, Chuck Oakes (Carol), Rick Oakes (Annette), and Mary Jane Lindahl (Dave); grandchildren, Richel Whisenhunt (Matthew), Melissa Ferrante (Ben), Chuck Oakes (Katie), Katie Kersey (Ryan), and Richard Oakes (Meagan); and her dear friend and caregiver, Rachel Johnson.
Her memory will also live on in the lives of Granny’s great grandchildren: Mason, Tanner, Natalie, Marcus, Mia, and River, along with step-great grandchildren, Brayden, Leeanna, and Briella. She is also treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Combs, Parsons, and Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Chip Denief officiating. Burial followed at the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco, Kentucky.
Visitation began at 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Johnson Watson, 71

Elizabeth Johnson Watson, age 71, of Cobb Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home, following a long illness.
She was born December 22, 1950, in Estill County, a daughter of the late Roy and Hazel Hall Johnson. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all her life. She was a member of the Cobb Hill Church of Christ.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband, Harvey Watson; a daughter, Cheri Johnson (Darvin), Lee County; a son, Doug Watson, Estill County; three sisters: Wave Vickers (Don), Alexandria; Sue Orme (Jr.) Cold Springs; and Patty Riddell (Gary), Estill County; three grandchildren: Christina Powell (Gina); Casey Grace (Michael); and Chris Coffey (Timber Lee); nine great grandchildren: Austin Wells (Sierra), Stephen Wells, Jessalyn Wells, Aaron Coffey, Dakota Jewell, Isaiah Coffey, Annalee Coffey, Katherine Grace, and Remington Grace; one great, great grandchild, Ezren Todd Wells; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Johnson; and four brothers, Lohris, Orville, Lenville, and Roger Johnson.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 17, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jay Dixon, with burial following in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Chris Coffey, Michael Grace, Darvin Johnson, Jr Coffey, Gary Riddell, and Dave Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Wells, Aaron Coffey, Dakota Jewell, and Isaiah Coffey.
Nita Jane Tipton, 60

Nita Jane Tipton, age 60, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond following a short illness.
She was born October 7, 1961, in Fayette County and was the daughter of the late Charles and Etta Estes Willis. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Tipton is survived by her husband, Donald Price Tipton; one daughter, Amanda Sue Sexton (Terry) of Estill County; two sisters: Bessie Winkler of Estill County and Sue Patrick of Owen County; one brother, Claude Willis of Estill County; and two grandchildren, Kayden and Karsyn Sexton.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Willis.
No memorial services are scheduled.

Leshia Clay Walters Griggs, 61

Leshia Clay Walters Griggs, age 61, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
Born on September 29, 1960, in Irvine, Leshia was the daughter of the late Jerry and Betty Watson Walters.
Leshia is survived by her husband, Emery Glenn Griggs; three children, Keegan Robert Griggs, Kayla Walters Sparks, and Derek Griggs; one grandson, Jason Gauge Arrowood; and two brothers, Robert Wayne Walters (Kathy) and James Ricky Walters. She is also survived by one nephew, Steven Walters; and all her kittys and grand pups.
A memorial service for Leshia Clay Walters Griggs was conducted on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Sister Jessica Winchester officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Leisha’s memorial fund.
Birdellia Patrick, 70

Birdellia Patrick, age 70, wife of Raymond C. Patrick, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born June 15, 1951 in Powell County to the late Henry and Bonnie Spangler Watkins.
Survivors include, husband, Raymond C. Patrick; son, Raymond Patrick Jr. (Tessica); daughters, Melissa Reynolds (Tim) and Jenny Perkins (Daniel); brothers, David Watkins, Lawrence Watkins, and James Watkins; sisters, Janice Watkins, Angela Sea, Teresa Pelfrey, Elaine Reid, Patricia Crase, and Sue Strange; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Patrick; and brothers, Roy Watkins and Michael Watkins.
Services were held Thursday, May 12, 2021, 1:00 p.m. by Sister Patty Utterback at the Davis and Davis Funeral Home of Stanton. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 11th, 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial was in Watkins Cemetery, Stanton with Tim Reynolds, Daniel Perkins, Robert Overbee, Brendon Reid, Ian Gorstieta, and James Watkins Jr. Honorary pallbearers were all her brothers and sisters.
Clyde Randall Patrick, 78

Clyde Randall Patrick, age 78, was born on November 7, 1943, the 9th child of Nora Hammons-Patrick and Chester Patrick, and passed away April 30, 2022.
He was born in a family home on Star Hill in Hamilton, Ohio, later moving with family to a farm in Reily, Ohio where he was proud of his perfect school attendance for 10 years out of 12, being captain of the basketball team and graduating at the top of his class of 1961.
Early in life Clyde began his life-long love of motorcycles with a Zundapp motorcycle and had ridden a Whizzer motorized bicycle to Cob Hill in Irvine, Estill County, Kentucky and back at the age of 15. After high school he spent time in Lee Summit, Missouri as apprentice at a local printing company, before joining the United States Air Force in 1964, being stationed stateside at Loring Air Force base in Maine. There he was part of the 42nd Bombardment wing of Strategic Air Command the Big R.
Following his time in the military, Clyde worked for Frigidaire in Moraine, Ohio where he later met and married Patricia Armstrong, having two sons, Christopher Randal Patrick who was born on December 13, 1969, and Joseph Matthew Patrick who was born on May 18, 1971, before their later separation and divorce.
Later, in Miami, Florida, he grew his passion for photography by creating start up US Photography. Returning to Hamilton, Ohio in September, 1979 to aid his mother after the death of his father, he took a position at Champion Paper Mill. He worked as a beater engineer until his retirement in 2009. During this time at Champion Papers, Clyde met Connie Wilson who bore his most favorite daughter, Ashley Marie Wilson-Patrick born on October 18, 1991, and raised her younger brother. Chris Wilson as his own. Though the relationship was quite tumultuous at times, they still pressed on till the very end, being together for over 30+ years.
He is survived by his sister, Gloria Holmes of Glendale, Arizona; his children, Christopher Patrick, Joseph Patrick, and Ashley Wilson-Patrick; his grandchildren, Donovan Wayne Patrick, Libby Nadine Patrick, Vincent Natheniel Patrick, Willow Naomi Patrick, Joseph Jr. Patrick, Josie Anne Marie Patrick, Aya Grace Patrick, Levi Carson Ray Cresswell, and Olivia lynn Cresswell.
Clyde is received in death by his sisters, Zelma Patrick, Dorothy Conley, Loretta McGee, and Juanita Anne Rowland; and his brothers, Chester James Patrick, Ronald Eldon Patrick, Doland Frank Patrick, and Raymond David Patrick.
