Frieda Ruth Flinchum, 91

Frieda Ruth Flinchum, age 91, of Crystal Creek Lane in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center following a short illness.
She was born September 21, 1930, in Clark County and was the daughter of the late Troy Sid Cole and Mary Abney Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Church of God. She had lived in Lee County for most of her life.
Mrs. Flinchum is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Goosey of Estill County; one son, Paul Edward Flinchum of Estill County; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Chester William Flinchum; one daughter, Marilyn Joyce Canter; eleven siblings and two sons-in-law, Lester Canter and Dexter Goosey.
Private services will be conducted at a later date.

Tony Daniel Lee Gross, age 39, of Pittsburg, Texas, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022.
He was born in Irvine, October 18, 1982 to Tommy and Joyce Gross. He was a mechanic.
Mr. Gross is survived by his father, Tommy Gross; his companion, Cindie Nolan; three sons: Tony Gross Jr., Aaron Nolan, and Evan Nolan; a daughter, Breanna Torres; a grandson, Wesley Tony Lee Gross; two brothers: Howard Gross and Tommy Gross Jr.; and two sisters: Florence Creech and Crystal Olivares.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Gross.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday July 3, 2022, at the Grayson Funeral Home in Irvine. Friends visited Sunday from 11:00 a.m. till service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial was in the Alexander Cemetery in Irvine.

Bradley Scott Hardy, age 45, of Hardy Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, at his home.
He was born December 29, 1976, in Madison County and was the son of the late Francis Sue Hardy Wilson. He was a roofer and a carpenter. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Hardy is survived by his grandmother, Sandra Hardy of Estill County; one daughter, Mercadies Dawn Hardy of Estill County; one son, Bradley Alec Trace Hardy of Estill County; two sisters: Sandra Rosales of Fayette County and April Hardy of Madison County; one brother, Shawn Hardy of Estill County; and two grandchildren: Klaire Molands and Paisyln Molands.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Powell officiating. Burial will be at the Hardy Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dalton McKinney, Jonathon Rosales, Joseph Fryer, Jeremy Hardy, Kaden Hardy, Shawn Hardy and Christopher Johnson.
Clyde "Junior" Martin, 63

Clyde "Junior" Martin, age 63, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Baptist Health Care Facility in Richmond, Kentucky.
Born on January 13, 1959, in Richmond, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Roscoe Clyde and Clementine McWhorter Martin.
Clyde was an active member of the Hargett and Ravenna Fire Departments and the Estill County Rescue Squad.
Survivors include one son, Craig Martin; two sisters, Becky Ann Johnson (Elmer "Butch") and Kathy Gail Meeks (Rodger); two nieces, Marissa Lasha Johnson and Tina Marie Middleton; two nephews, Dustin Wade Tevis Johnson and Tommy Lee Meeks; along with many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Clyde Martin will be conducted on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Bill Wesley will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kentucky. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral time of 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mr. Martin's memorial fund.
Helena Shelton Winkler, 90

Helena Shelton Winkler, age 90, wife of Kenneth Winkler, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
She was born to the late James Huron Shelton and Ottie McKinney Shelton on May 11, 1932 in Green County, Kentucky. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She and Kenneth married on August 4, 1950 and they were set to celebrate their 72nd anniversary this year.
Family and friends were her life. She also loved to cook, bake, and care for others. Her warm smile and effervescent spirit touched those blessed by her presence.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by their three daughters, Dianne Embry, Wanda Joy Martin, and Cynthia Winkler Clark; two grandchildren, John Seth Embry and Benjamin Cole Embry (Aly); sister-in-law, Gail Akin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her “adopted daughters.”
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, John Embry and John Martin; three brothers, Otas Ray, James Albert, and Dale Eldon Shelton; and two sisters-in-law, Janeida and Sue Shelton.
Services will be held at Milward-Man O’ War, 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington, Sunday, July 3, 2022; visitation 2-4 p.m., funeral at 4 p.m. Her cemetery committal service will occur on Tuesday, July 5th, 1:30 p.m. at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Duluth M. Witt, age 88, of West Cedar Grove Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center following a long illness.
She was born March 9, 1934, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Johnston Mansfield. She was an Administrative Assistant in the Mobile Home Industry in St. Petersburg, Florida and also worked for Century 21 Americana Properties. She was a member of the Ravenna Nazarene Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Estill County Genealogical and Historical Society. She had lived in Estill County for the last 20 years.
Mrs. Witt is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Witt; one son, Arnold Ray Witt four sisters, Myrtle Rose, Ona Smeltzer, Mary Hochadel and Minnie Withers; and three brothers, William E. Mansfield, Elbert Mansfield and James A. Mansfield.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 2, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronald Lutes officiating. Burial was at the Johnny Richardson Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, July 1st from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dennis Rose, Curt McMaine, Kenny Cox, Carl McMaine, Tanner Harrison and Briton Estes.
Glenda Sue Spencer, 73

Glenda Sue Spencer, age 73, widow of Ollie James Spencer, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her residence in Clay City, Kentucky.
Born in Red Jacket, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lauza Smith and the late Bessie Stacy Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Bowen Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, JB Smith and Darrell Smith; and one brother-in-law, James Joseph.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Ritchie (Ben) of Irvine and Pamela Kay Spencer of Stanton; a brother, Roscoe Smith (Jeanne) of Burlington, Indiana; three sisters: Freda Kay Joseph, Wanda Faye Johnson (Patrick) and Omeda Cravens of Stanton; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Smith and Clara Smith, both of Stanton; and two grandchildren, Olivia Dee Ritchie and James Ethan Ritchie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Bowen Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God, 39 Little North Fork Road, Stanton. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 1st with a church service being conducted at 7:00 p.m. that evening at the church as well.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery with Ben Ritchie, Ethan Ritchie, Mark Smith, Roscoe Smith, Brandon Dunaway and Brandon Smith serving as active pallbearers.

Lester Richardson, 85

Lester Richardson, age 85, of Waco, Kentucky, went peacefully to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 26, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Even though he struggled with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and several major illnesses in the past few years, they never took his love for the Lord, his family and friends away. He still met each day with a smile on his face and a joy in his heart. Even though we are sad and heartbroken and will miss him dearly we know he is right where he wants to be. God gives us this promise: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 “My flesh and heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
Mr. Richardson was born on February 18, 1937, in Estill County, Kentucky, to Mamie Miller Richardson and Vernon Richardson, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife: Cletha Jean Farthing Richardson; one son, Anthony Greg Richardson; one grandchild, Chelsea Nicole Richardson; five brothers: Roy Richardson, Vernon Richardson Jr., Earnest Richardson, Donald Richardson and James Richardson; and three sisters: Jean Gray, Opal Lamb and Geneva Ditomaso.
Lester was the retired owner/operator of P & R Roofing, Inc. of Lexington, Kentucky that he shared with his son. He was a member of the Waco Baptist Church, a church he and his wife loved and looked forward to attending.
Survivors include his daughters: Connie Vice (Tim) of Richmond and Kim Tate (Tom) of Waco; his daughter-in-love, Neva Davis Richardson of Richmond; four sisters: Alean Lathery of Indiana, Ruby Hamilton of Richmond, Mary Black (Jim) of Waco and Carol Hensley (Chuck) of Waco; his grandchildren: Derrick Tate (Heather), Whitney Agee (Brian Abner), Claire Vice, Sarah Vice, and Isaiah Vice (Katelynn Morgan); four great grandchildren: Alexis Agee, Justin Anthony Greg Richardson, Erica Riley Lynn Tate and William “Tate” Lee Abner; his sisters-in-law: Kathy Richardson and Imogene Richardson; and extended family, Brenda Moberly and Jimmy Farthing.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Waco Baptist Church, 3646 Irvine Rd., Waco, Kentucky with Tim Vice and Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, July 1st at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tim Black, Pat Black, Steve Tribble, Brennon Ragone, Donnie Moberly, Roger Richardson, Lowell Berryman, Randy Hensley and Tommy Tribble.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Black, Charles Hensley, Joey Lucas, Aaron Lucas and Jim Baker.

Kevin Lynn Chaney, age 58, of Main Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born May 2, 1964, in Butler County, Ohio and was the son of the late Arthur Chester Chaney and Bobbie Louise Walton Chaney. He was a mechanic and attended the Crooked Creek Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Chaney is survived by one daughter, Krista Lynn Collett of Estill County; two sons: Robbie Cox and Stevie Cox, both of Estill County; one stepdaughter: Jessica Cox of Estill County; one sister, Michelle Crowe of Estill County; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marsheila Gwen Chaney; his brother, Ricky Maurice Chaney; and his companion, Rita Mae Isaacs.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, June 29, 11:00 a.m., at the Walton Cemetery with Bro. John Isfort officiating.
Pallbearers were Scott Smith, Jacob Smith, Macon Canter, A.J. Collett, Austin Mosley and Justin Mosley.

Sallie Lou Moore, 92

Sallie Lou Moore, age 92, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Marcum Wallace Medical Center after a brief illness.
Sallie was born on June 30, 1929, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late James Frank and Onie Silvers Smithers.
Mrs. Moore was a lifelong native of Irvine. She retired from Columbia Gas Company with over 25 years of service. Sallie enjoyed traveling and was very active in her home church of Rice Station Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert “Nobby” Moore; one son, James Farrell Moore; and one brother, Walter Smithers.
Survivors include a son, Boyd Wayne Moore (Lee Ann) of North Charleston, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Moore of Irvine; seven grandchildren: David Moore (Cassie), Dustin Moore, Kristin Foskey, Karen Gibbs (Jesse), Amanda Hernandez (Angel), Bethany McDowell (Martin), and Alaina Moore; and ten great grandchildren: Khalea Moore, Kruz Moore, Emmalee Gibbs, Mackenlee Gibbs, Maicol Hernandez, Nolan Hernandez, Liam Hernandez, Jayda Roberts, Roen McDowell, and Brooklyn McDowell.
She had many other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Sallie Lou Moore will be conducted on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rice Station Christian Church in Irvine, with Brother Joe Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Rice Station Christian Church.
Pallbearers will be, Dustin and David Moore, John and Terry Smithers, Butch and Pepper Hardy, Danny Long, and Mike Chaney.

Winfred Leighton Winkle, 78

Winfred Leighton Winkle was born on July 21, 1943, in Madison County, the son of Leighton and Dora Roberts Winkle. He went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 24, 2022, surrounded by his family. Winfred was a retired local businessman and currently was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Diana Richardson Winkle; two sons, Winfred Leighton Winkle II and James Glenn Winkle (Michelle Brady), two granddaughters, Abby Lynn Winkle Martin (Jordan) and Emma Kate Winkle; and one sister, Deborah D. Winkle and son C.J. Cain (Alex Huber).
Mr. Winkle was preceded in death by his parents, Leighton and Dora; an infant brother, James Clinton Winkle; and his father- and mother-in-law Willard and Louise Richardson.
Winfred served in the Army National Guard in Ravenna from 1961-1968. He served on the Estill County Board of Education from 1984-1988, serving as vice-chairman for a year. He was a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge #137 F&AM, recently receiving his 50-year membership pin. Winfred attended the South Irvine Christian Church his entire life, being baptized in 1967 along with his wife Diana. He was a deacon and was instrumental in updating the facilities.
Mr. Winkle was a devoted family man who supported the Estill County High Lady Engineers Softball Team where his granddaughters both played and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Recently, he received an extra dose of happiness when his granddaughters Abby graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Nursing and Emma was named Miss Kentucky Softball 2022.
Winfred maintained the family farm and with his wife and sister cared for his mother, Dora until her death in January 2022. He was the rock of this family, a man of many talents, a hard worker, and an honest and trustworthy friend to many people. But most of all he was devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his country, his family, and the love of his life Diana.
Visitation will be held at The South Irvine Christian Church from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, with Masonic Rites at the church beginning at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. Glyndon Mays and Bro. Mike Chism officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the South Irvine Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
The family would like to thank the staff of Estill Medical Clinic and the Neuro ICU at Saint Joseph Hospital for their attention, love and support throughout Winfred’s illness. Special thanks to Abby Winkle Martin and UK Trauma ICU for assisting in his care.

Janey "Jeannie" Gray Witt, age 83, of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center following a long illness.
She was born August 30, 1938 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Edward Gray Sr. and Della Lanald Gray. She was a retired hairdresser and was a member of the Gum Springs Church of God. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Witt is survived by two daughters: Vickie Witt of Estill County and Kelli Watson of Shelby County; six sisters: Patricia Maddox, Virginia Steele, both of Ohio; Teddy Arthur, Dorothy Case, Betty Shepherd, all of Estill County; and Darlene Sparks of Ohio; two grandchildren: Dalton Watson and Grayce Watson; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Debra French.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Sidney Witt; two sisters, Christina Miller and Myrtie Tipton; and two brothers, Marion Gray and Edward Gray Jr.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Les McIntosh officiating. Burial was at the Gray Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Frank Puckett, age 89, of Winchester, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home.
Frank was born on February 27, 1933, in Greensburg, Indiana to the late James Hanford Puckett and Rosie Lee Means Puckett. He was retired from Bundy Tubing Company and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett is preceded in death by three brothers, Chester I., Otha E., and Elbert C. Puckett; along with two sisters, Alice Coleen Spaethe and Bonnie Irene Howell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Audrey P. Spivey Puckett; one daughter, Barbara Pauline Ohlman of Winchester; two sons, Roger Franklin and Kirt Wallace Puckett, both of Irvine; one brother, James Hanford Puckett Jr. of Gallatin, Tennessee; three sisters, Judi Whitinger of Portsmouth, Ohio; Katherine Mae Teeters, and Anna Carol Combs, both of Ohio; six grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Ohlman, Barbara Lynn Ohlman Burton (Russ), Phillip Scott Puckett (Kara), Timothy Shane Puckett, Sheena Lasha Puckett, and Megan Michelle Stepp (Shawn); twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at the Jackson Chapel Cemetery in Irvine. Rev. Steve Puckett and Brother James Puckett will officiate.

Nettie Clay Smith, age 81, widow of Clarence Smith, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester.
She was born August 15, 1940 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late John Raymond and Elizabeth Watson Watson.
Survivors include, sons, Harold Wayne Smith and Mark Shannon Smith (Kim); granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Smith (Rollie Carpenter); and three great grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Johnson, Sophia Grace Carpenter, and Rollie John Monroe Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; here husband, Clarence Smith; a son, Clarence Steven Smith; a daughter, Mary Ann Smith; two brothers, Harold Edward Watson and Donald Ray Watson; and a sister, Reva Powell.
Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton by Rev. Warren Rogers. Visitation Friday, June 24th, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial in Cobb Hill Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Charles Adam “Chuck” Harrison, age 48, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born April 10, 1974, in Fayette County and was the son of Charles Stanley and Rhonda Stevens Harrison. He was a former construction worker and had lived in Estill County all his life.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his daughter, Keisha Lashae Harrison of Estill County; one sister, Kim Ford of Georgetown; and two grandchildren: Randi Bingham and Landry Bingham.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Harrison.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

Jason Riddell, age 82, of Oak Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at his home following a long illness.
He was born April 18, 1940, in Estill County and was the son of the late Victor and Marriah Neal Riddell. He was a farmer and Pastor for the Stacy Lane Community Pentecostal Church of God. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Bro. Riddell is survived by his wife, Melissa Lynn Brinegar Riddell; three sons: Jason Lee Riddell (Brittany),
Matthew Dillon Riddell, and Aaron Jacob Riddell (Alyssa) all of Estill County; one sister, Wanda Duncan (Donnie) of Versailles; one brother, Estill Riddell of Estill County; and two grandchildren: Micah O’Ryan Riddell and
Jaylee Marriah Lynn Riddell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Barrett and Lorena Hunt; and foiur brothers, Herman, Harold Lee, Benjamin and Victor Riddell Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 23, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matthew Barnett officiating. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22nd from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
