James Barkley "Jim" Little

    James Barkley "Jim" Little, age 85, of Winchester, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Fountain Circle Nursing Facility in Winchester.
    Born on September 19, 1936, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late James Elmer and Jewel Nickel Little, he was a life-long member of the Irvine First Christian Church. Mr. Little also attended Calvary Christian Church, the Mount Carmel Campus. He was an honorably discharged United States Army veteran and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. Mr. Little was retired from the state as the Career Coordinator at the unemployment office in Winchester. After retiring, he spent most of his days enjoying his farm.
    In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Jo Little; two nieces, Lu Anne Elliott and Jane Fike; and one nephew, William Morris Elliott III.
    He is survived by a sister, Peggy Little Kayse; five great nieces and nephews as well as numerous great, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for James Barkley Little will be conducted on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals, Minister Tom Blackburn officiating. Music will be provided by Mary Anne Blackburn. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Beattyville, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 27, 2022, at the Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m.
    Pallbearers will be Marty York, Casey Fike, Craig Rogers, Harold Trent, Kenton York, Casen Fike and Randall Christopher.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Isaacs, Jack and Joe Little, Darrell Dunaway and Chad Isaacs.

Betty Lee Richardson Gilbert

    Betty Lee Richardson Gilbert, age 64, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 2022, at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
    Betty was born on May 15, 1958, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Floyd Sr. and Mary Ellen Hymer Richardson. She was a homemaker and had attended the New Vision Full Gospel Church in Ravenna.
    Survivors include her husband, Buel Gilbert; four sisters: Mary Elizabeth Richardson Hall, Waffie Richardson Barrett (Ricky), Rosa Lee Richardson and Annie Richardson McIntosh (Thomas); a close family friend, Seldon Bishop Jr.; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
    A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco, Kentucky with Bro. Buford Powell officiating.

Elizabeth Ann Cooper

    Elizabeth Ann Cooper, age 82, wife of Ray Cooper, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home.
    A native of Clark County, Kentucky, she was born on September 17, 1939, to the late Taylor and Nannie Raker Rainey. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from the United States Forest Service, where she worked for over 40 years. Elizabeth was previously very active in the community, serving as chairman for Clark County Farm Bureau District 9, on the Clark County 4 H Council, the Extension Council and the Fair Board. She was also a lifetime member of the Clark County Saddle Club.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, David Cooper (Malinda); grandsons, Taylor Cooper (Michelle) and Travis Cooper; great grandchildren, Trevor, Trinity, and Treyden Cooper; a sister, Brenda Freeman (Roy); a sister-in-law, Pat Rainey Gatewood; and several extended family members and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Garland Rainey.
    Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Tony Stang. Burial will follow in Winchester Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of service.
    Pallbearers will be Taylor Cooper, Travis Cooper, Ed Logsdon, Roy Freeman, Belvin Brandenburg, Larry Muncie, Raymond Cooper, Marvin Cooper, and Michelle Turner.

Marcella Thomas Saylor

    Marcella Thomas Saylor, age 99, of Crittenden, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, from complications from a stroke.
    She was born to the late Vernon and Nannie Dunaway Thomas on March 3rd/4th, 1923 in a log cabin on the family farm in Estill County, Kentucky.
    After retiring from the Hewitt Soap Factory in Dayton, Ohio, Marcella settled in Northern Kentucky where she designed beautiful flower beds, focused her artistic talents on making award-winning quilts, enjoyed Bluegrass gospel music, and spent time with family and friends laughing, traveling, and swapping stories. For the last nine years, she had the joy of living with her granddaughter’s family in Castle Rock, Colorado.
    Marcella is preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Schafer (Stewart); and siblings, Dorothy Massie, Raymond Thomas, Harry Thomas, Eugene Thomas, Jennings Thomas, Elwanda Pearson, and Vernon Thomas, Jr.
    She is survived by grandchildren, Kelli Eagle (Rick) and Kevin Langford (Jenny); great grandchildren, Cade Eagle, Ellie Eagle, and John Langford; sisters, Joyce Chambers and Sue Johnson (Richard); a son-in-law, Lee Schafer (Deanna); a step-daughter, Bobbie Jean Thompson and family; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
    The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at the Warren F Toler Funeral Home, Interment followed at the Turpin Cemetery, Winston. Visitation was held Sunday from 1-2 p.m.
    Pallbearers were Rick Eagle, Kevin Langford, Cade Eagle, David Brewer, Dennis Johnson, and Harry Thomas.

    Jimmy Lynn Hall, age 60, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky.
    He was born October 13, 1961 to Claude and Jessie Margaret Griffin Hall.
    Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Mary Hall of Irvine; five brothers: Timmy Hall, Billy Hall, Bryan Hall, Kelley Hall, Kenny Hall and a half-brother, Scotty Hall.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Jessie Hall; and a sister, Rebecca Hall.
    Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Irvine with Bro. Bill White officiating. Friends visited Sunday from 12:00 Noon till 2:00 p.m. Burial followed in the Griffin Cemetery in Irvine.

Raymond Gene Webb

    Raymond Gene Webb, age 91, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
    Born on October 31, 1930, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Leslie C. and Nannie Spicer Webb, Mr. Webb was retired from Sargent Greenleaf Inc. and from the Kroger Company. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Raymond was of the Christian Faith.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Webb; and four brothers, Leslie Webb Jr., Alben Webb, Winston Webb, and James Howard Webb.
    Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Wanda F. Gentry Webb; three children, Larry Ray Webb (Diane) of Jacksonville, Florida; Darrell Gene Webb (Joan) of Lancaster; and Barbara Faye Ayres (Bryan) of Marshall, Virginia; one brother, Paul D. Webb (Marbeth) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Virginia Kidwell (Donald) of Springboro, Ohio; five grandchildren, Darrell Gene Webb II, Amanda Marie Webb, Marie Nicole Kratzer (Kyle), Bryan Lee Ayres Jr. (Kyrsten), and Mason Grant Ayres; four great grandchildren, Adriyana Marina Ayres, Asher Talon Ayres, Tessa May Kratzer, and Kameron Ford Kidwell; along with many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for Raymond Gene Webb will be conducted on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Rev. Darrell Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dewey Bryne Stamper

    Dewey Bryne Stamper, age 86, of Dayton, Ohio; formerly of Irvine, Kentucky; departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Miami Valley Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
    Born on January 20, 1936, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Roy and Zetta Hall Stamper, Dewey was a retired wire cutter for C & M Products.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Stamper and Roy Stamper Jr.; and one grandson, Anthony "Tony" Stamper.
    Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Stamper (Runa), Roger Stamper (Donelle), and Darrell Stamper (Wanda), all of Dayton, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; three sisters, Delores McCullah, Judy Stamper, both of Irvine; and Charlene Rogers (James) of Stanton; and one brother, Ellis Stamper of Dayton, Ohio; along with many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for Dewey Bryne Stamper were conducted on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cobb Hill Community Church with Rev. Mark Pearson officiating. Interment followed in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 10:00 a.m., Saturday, until 12:00 Noon at Lewis Home for Funerals before leaving in procession to Cobb Hill Community Church.

    Ryder Isaiah James Durham, age 1, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Rockcastle Regional Medical Center in Mount Vernon.
    He was born May 18, 2021, in Lexington, to Cody Hollis McKinley Durham and Ciara Maleigha Gail Estes Durham. Ryder loved his sister and his puppies. He had a beautiful smile and loved to tease everyone with it.
    Ryder is preceded in death by maternal great grandfathers, James Miller and Glendon Estes; paternal great grandparents, Hollis and Sadie Durham, Bill and Betty Frary, and Shirley Caldwell.
    In addition to his parents, Ryder is survived by one sister, Emmalyn; maternal grandparents, Tony and Marie Estes of Irvine; paternal grandparents, Tommy and Andrea Durham of Brodhead; maternal great grandparents, Gail Miller and Dolly Estes; maternal aunts and uncles, Kaitlyn Estes of Irvine, Courtney Damrell of Berea, and Patrick Damrell (Cortney) of Berea; and paternal aunts and uncles, Thomas Durham (Star) of Stanford, Ashley Taylor of Brodhead, and Travis Durham of Brodhead. A host of cousins and friends also survive.
    Visitation was heald 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Berea with funeral services at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday July 20th with Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Estes Family Cemetery, 750 Round Mountain Road, Irvine. Pallbearers were Cody Durham, Tony Estes, Tommy Durham, and Tommy Emery.

Willie May Horn

    Willie May Horn, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty Lou Forbes Horn.
    Willie was born on March 15, 1934 in Estill County, Kentucky, and was the son of Sylvester and Cynthia Plowman Horn, both of whom preceded him in death.
    He first worked as a butcher at Uncle Charlie’s for seventeen years and later retired as a butcher from Thornberry’s Super Valu. Willie was a faithful member of Full Gospel Tabernacle where his son Rickey pastors. Willie enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, gardening, and watching westerns. He loved reading his Bible and teaching his children and grandchildren God’s Word, listening to gospel music, and driving the bus for his sons’ gospel singing group, The Gospel Troops.
    Survivors include four sons, Stevie Ray Horn (Betty Jean), Rickey Samuel Horn (Tina), both of Richmond; Gregory Scott Horn (Valta) of St. Joseph, Missouri; and Darren Keith Horn (Jennifer Leigh) of Richmond; two daughters, Kathy Marie Warner and Tabitha Ann Smyly (Bradley Scott), both of Concord, North Carolina; and one sister, Bernice Marcum. He was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and has a great, great, grandchild on the way.
    In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Willie Alan Horn; seven brothers and four sisters.
    A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle with Bro. Rickey S. Horn and Bro. Frankie Foster officiating. Burial followed in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
    Pallbearers were William Randy Dozier, Steve Alan Horn, Larry Chad Miller, David Jordan Horn, Christopher Scott Smyly, Chandler Shaun Horn, Charles “Jr” Horn, and Paul David Horn.
    The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to his great-nephew, Charles “Jr” Horn, for the love and support he showed to his uncle and the entire family, and to his nephew, David Horn for the love he showed his uncle.

Wade Osborne

    Wade Osborne, age 74, of McKee Road in Irvine, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.
    He was born June 11, 1948, in Estill County and was the son of the late Robert and Modena Johnson Osborne. He was an auto mechanic and attended the Wagersville Pentecostal Church of God.
    Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Phillips Osborne; one daughter, Deana K. Osborne of Estill County; one son, Timothy Wade Osborne (Michelle) of Estill County; three sisters: Lily Sturgill, Allie Fair Noland, and Martha Flynn, all of Estill County; two stepdaughters: Karen Jones (Rusty) or Madison County; and Barbara McElroy of Estill County; two stepsons: Jimmy Marcum (Deana) and Wayne Marcum, both of Estill County; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; eleven step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kathy Sweeny; and 17 brothers and sisters.
    Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Congleton Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

William Lloyd Seale

    William Lloyd Seale, formerly of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; beloved father, grandfather, and brother, died on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at his son’s home in Villa Rica, Georgia, with his loving family surrounding him. He was born on December 2, 1927 in Ravenna, Kentucky. He was 94 years of age.
    He joined the United States Merchant Marines at age 17, in July 1945, during World War II. He also served in the United States Army from November 1951 to 1953; and in the Army Reserve from 1953 to 1957.
    In 1957, he received a BS of Commerce from Eastern Kentucky University. In 1962, he became a licensed CPA. He served as a Vice-President and Secretary and Treasurer at Belknap Hardware in Louisville, Kentukcy. He also served as CFO for Fashion Shops of Louisville.
    He loved his family most of all, but also loved playing golf for many, many years. He played at many golf courses, but mostly at Valley View in Floyds Knobs, winning several Club Championships.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Chelsia Oaks Seale; his wife, Carol Dean Seale; a brother, Basil; and two sisters, Beryl Hunt and Sue Floyd.
    He is survived by his son, Steve (Orly Alonzo-Seale); daughter, Melanie S. Davis (Stefan Florkey); a sister, Doris Traylor; and three grandchildren, Harrison Davis, Victoria Seale, and William M. Seale.
    Following his wishes, no formal services will be held, and he will be cremated.

    Paul Wesley Lawson, age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the McGraw House Hospice in Jacksonville.
    Born on December 19, 1936, in Richmond, Kentucky, to the late John Wesley and Samantha Lee Davis Lawson, Paul was retired from the L & N Railroad and a member of the Beaches United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wallace Charles Taylor.
    Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Jo Carol Singleton Lawson; one son, Paul Scott Lawson of Burlington, Kentucky; and a daughter, Cathy Taylor of Irvine; three grandchildren, Charleston Jo Neal (Chad), Wallace Chandler Taylor (Sarah), and Katie Lawson; along with seven great grandchildren, Charley Taylor, Fisher Miles Neal, Jonah Anthony Neal, William Connor Taylor, Cali Griffith, Cole Griffith, and Braxton Lawson.
    Funeral services for Paul Wesley Lawson will be conducted on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Rev. Max Hester will be officiating. Interment will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. Military honors at the gravesite will be conducted by American Legion Post #79.

    Mayfra Isaacs, age 88, of Stacy Lane Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
    She was born May 13, 1934, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Lewis and Able Young Williams. She was a retired Phillips Lighting employee and a member of the Old Time Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Isaacs was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Isaacs; and is survived by her son, Earnest Ray Isaacs of Estill County; one brother: Wesley Williams of Estill County; two half-sisters: Jean Marshall of Madison County and Violet “Tuffy” Davenport of Pulaski County; two half-brothers: Douglas Williams and Jimmy Lee Williams, both of Estill County; two grandchildren: Jacob Ray Isaacs and Daniel Ray Isaacs; and one great grandchild, Emma Faith Isaacs.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Samuel Bo Williams.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Carr officiating. Burial was at the Young Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, July 15th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

    Everett Brandenburg, age 71, of Red House Road in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his home, following a short illness.
    He was born January 4, 1951 in Owsley County and was the son of the late McKinley and Martha Conrad Brandenburg. He was a roofer and a member of the Drip Rock Baptist Church. He had lived in Madison County most of his life.
    Mr. Brandenburg is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jean Bailes Brandenburg; two daughters: Michelle Richardson of Madison County; and Jennifer Livermore-Williams of Florida; two sons: Shannon Cain and Henry Steven Brandenburg (Becky), both of Madison County; four sisters: Judy Terrel, Bonnie Abshear, Geraldine Bellfield, and Angie Brandenburg, all of Madison County; three grandchildren: Lucas Osborne, Nicholas Osborne and Brent Brandenburg; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Nancy L. Willis

    Nancy L. Willis, age 81, of Berea, Kentucky, passed away in the comfort of her home Monday, July 11, 2022 and went to be with the Lord.
    She was born in Estill County, Kentucky on July 25, 1940 to the late John Curtis Cain and Sarah Jane Isaacs Cain. She retired from the Madison County Board of Education where she drove a school bus for 30 years. She was also retired from Kingston Shell Food Mart where she was a manager for over 20 years. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was of the Holiness faith.
    Nancy is survived by her children: James Edwin Willis (Janet), Stephen Ray Willis (Sandra), Jonathan Blake Willis (Mary), Penny Griggs, all of Berea; Dennis Kirk Willis (Bobbie) of Richmond; and one adopted daughter, Betty “Cissy” Dezarn of Richmond; twelve grandchildren: James Robert Willis (Lisa), Sarah Gray (Joseph), Zachariah Willis, Jeremiah Willis, John Willis, Tiffany Berry (Dakota), Austin Willis (Melissa), Casey Willis, Marcus Willis, Jacob Willis (Brianna), Jared Willis and Samuel Griggs; five great grandchildren, one special nephew, Kenneth Smith; as well as other beloved nieces and nephews and a great host of friends, loved ones and acquaintances to grieve her passing.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Edward Cain, Dennis Cain and Louis Claude Cain; and two sisters, Reva Denny and Geneva Reece.
    Funeral Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation was from 6–8 p.m., Thursday, July 14th at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers were her grandsons, including James Robert Willis, Jeremiah Willis, Zachariah Willis, John Anderson Willis, Austin Willis and Casey Willis.
    Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and two granddaughters including, Marcus Willis, Jacob Willis, Jared Willis, Samuel Gage Griggs, Tiffany Mae Berry and Sarah Katherine Gray.
