Wade Coffey

    Wade Coffey, age 59, husband of Gail Baker Coffey, died on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home in Richmond, Kentucky.
    Born on July 11, 1963 in Irvine, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James and Laura Estes Coffey. He was a farmer and attended the Cartersville Holiness Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Gail Baker Coffey; one step-son, William Ratliff (Ashley); one step-daughter, Melissa Curry (Justin); six brothers, Bruce Coffey of Irvine, Denny Coffey (Sue) of Waco, Wayne Coffey (Carolyn) of Mt. Sterling, Ernest Coffey (Debbie) of Lancaster, Harold Coffey (Amy) of Berea, and Leon Coffey (Betty) of Irvine; six step-grandchildren, MaKayleigh, Adaleigh, Connor and Skylynn Curry, Macey and Abel Ratliff.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Coffey; and two sisters, Betty Willis and Martha Rogers.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond with Bro. Bruce Alcorn and Bro. Charley Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 5th at Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers will be Brian Bogie, Harold Ray, Terry Cortney, Gary Willis, Chandler Ray and Gavin Ray.
    Honorary pallbearers will be William Ratliff, Justin Curry, Connor Curry, Russell Baker, Ted McCollum, Shawn McCollum and Joseph Willis.

Lemon D. Gross

    Lemon D. Gross, age 88, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    Mr. Gross was born on July 11, 1934, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Vernon and Dorothy Townsend Gross. He was a member of the Pinnacle Rock Church at Old Landing.
    In addition to his parents, Lemon was preceded in death by seven brothers, Roy, Hoover Earl, Vernon Jr., Woodrow, Bondagon, and Troy Gross, and his twin brother, Alvin Lee Gross; one sister, Alma Bell Wiseman; three brothers-in-law, Arnold Earl Begley, Willie Begley, and Wayne Wiseman; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Frances Jones Gross and Sue Brandenburg Gross.
    Lemon is survived by two brothers, Joe Gross of Red Lick and Bill Gross of Whitesburg; one sister-in-law, Becky Gross of Winchester; two sisters, Pauline Begley of Irvine and Maggie Begley of Florida; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for Lemon D. Gross will be conducted on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Reverend Jerry Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at Noon at the funeral home.

Richard N. “Dickie” Bailey

    Richard N. “Dickie” Bailey, age 86, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
    He was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky to the late Carr and Aleta Brinegar Bailey. He served in the United States Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. He was retired from Contel Telephone Company.
    Mr. Bailey is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Eileen Applegate Bailey of Irvine; four daughters, Patricia Bailey Hood (significant other Marvin Dixon), Kimberly Ann Bailey Hall (Jerry), Christie Dawn Bailey Young (Eddie) and Jennifer Gay Bailey McKinney (Gary). He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, Ashley Hood-Morley (Robert), Chelsea Hood Reece (Clay), Chad Hall (Kim), Sarah Crank (James), Cheyenne Young, Adam McKinney, and Madison McKinney. In addition, he is survived by two loving sisters, Patricia Bailey Johnson (Lavern – deceased) and Betty Bailey Collins (Jimmy – deceased).
    He was preceded in death by his brother, C.J. Bailey (Bonnie).
    Mr. Bailey also leaves behind some very special friends, Gladys Green (Jimmy-deceased), Larry Dillon, Ernest Ray Throckmorton, Tommy Lisle, Gerald Darnell, and Stone and Louise Cooper along with many others too numerous to mention.
    He is survived by several nieces and nephews and many wonderful neighbors and friends of whom he was very fond.
    Graveside rites will be conducted at Green Acres Cemetery in Washington, Kentucky, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Patricia Killian Rose

    Patricia Killian Rose, age 78, wife of Jerry Glenn Rose of Lexington, Kentucky, passed from her earthly life Sunday, September 25, 2022, due to complications from Lewy body dementia, and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.
    She was a native of Russell County, Kentucky, grew up in Cedar Grove in Estill County, and was the daughter of the late James and Lillian Wilson Killian. A son, David James Rose, preceded her in death.
    In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by two sons Philip Glenn and Timothy Glenn, both of Lexington; a granddaughter, Sarah Caroline; a brother, James W. Killian (Helen), and a host of loving relatives and friends.
    Patsy graduated from Estill County High School in 1961 and Eastern Kentucky State College in 1965 and taught Math in the Fayette County Public Schools for three years. She was a 55-year member of Gardenside Christian Church, where she was an organist and pianist for 40 years and was also a Youth Sunday School Teacher for many years. Patsy often played the piano for son Philip’s solos, some of which she wrote and composed in her later years.
    She was a member of the Bluegrass Council of the Blind and often baked goodies for their meetings. She also volunteered, by playing the piano, for various groups, including Sayre Christian Village Nursing Center and Cedarhurst Senior Living in Lexington. She provided a card ministry and frequently entertained relatives and friends at her home.
    A Celebration of Life Visitation and Service will be at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home in Irvine on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 Noon, followed by Funeral Services at Noon. Interment will follow the service at the nearby Sunset Memorial Gardens at West Irvine in Estill County, close by to her childhood home. Ministers Charles Delaney and Gregory Herriford will officiate.
    In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Bluegrass Council of the Blind, 1093 South Broadway, Suite 1220, Lexington, KY 40504 or the Central Kentucky Radio Eye, 1733 Russell Cave Road, Lexington, KY 40505.

Michael Joseph Durbin

    Michael Joseph Durbin, son of Dovie Flinchum and the late Fred Durbin, was born in Estill County, Kentucky on October 16, 1976 and departed this life in Ashland, Kentucky on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the age of 45 years, 11 months, and 7 days. He worked as a construction worker and attended the Miracle Missions Church of the Living God.
    In addition to his mother, Michael leaves behind one son, Hayden Durbin of Beattyville; four sisters, Brenda Moore also of Beattyville, Linda Perkins (Jimbo) of Knott County, Lois Duff (Eddie) of Booneville, and Mary Durbin of Beattyville; two brothers, Freddie Durbin (Eva) of Beattyville and James Durbin (Lena) of Grayson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
    Michael was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Daniel Durbin.

Nelson B. Dunaway

    Nelson B. Dunaway, 83, of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
    He was born July 8, 1939 in Estill County, Kentucky, the son of Alford and Bertha Tipton Dunaway. Nelson was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Miamisburg. He donated a lot of his time to the community and Miamisburg Schools. Nelson had a host of friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
     He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Morris Dunaway; children, Lynne Dunaway and Scott Dunaway; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
     Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; as well as six brothers and three sisters.
     A gathering of family and friends was held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 323 N. Eleventh St, Miamisburg.
     Services were entrusted to Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg.

Mitchell Hurley

    Mitchell Hurley, age 63 of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    He was born in Irvine, April 9, 1959 to Willie and Beatrice Plowman Hurley.
    Mr. Hurley is survived by three sons: Jesse Chaney (Jessica), Willie Hurley, and Mitchell Hurley; three grandchildren, and special friends, Darlene Ballard and her husband Eddie, John Moreland, and Bub Booth.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Beatrice Hurley; four brothers, Dale, Russell, Bradley and Matthew Hurley; and two sisters, Katherine and Karen Hurley.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Irvine. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. till time of the service. Burial will be in the Hurley Cemetery in Ravenna.

Violet Tipton Popp

    
    Violet Tipton Popp of Orange Lake, Florida; went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the age of 96.
    She was born on August 31, 1926 to Clifton and Nancy McIntosh Tipton in Estill County, Kentucky where she grew up with her 12 siblings.
    Violet enjoyed knitting and gardening, spending time with her family, and joyfully praising God every day. Her faith in our Lord was strong and never wavered. Every person who met Violet was touched by her kindness and blessed by her light.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, loving husband, Willie Popp; a daughter, Tammy Ray; and a son, Gary Popp Sr.
    Violet will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Nancy, Clementine, Rita, and Myra; four sons: JC, Philip, Michael, and Tim; 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren; and her brother Glen Tipton, as well as many others who were blessed to have known her.
    Family and friends are invited to celebrate Violet's life at the New Life Pentecostal Church in Ocala, Florida on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

Angela Stamper Bertolino

     Angela Stamper Bertolino passed from this life on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 58.
    Born June 20, 1964 in Estill County, Kentucky, she was the daughter Shirley L. and Beulah Johnson Stamper of Cobb Hill, Kentucky.
    As a child, Angie dreamed of going to California, and at 16 she made that dream a reality, living in San Diego. Angie became the mother of three beautiful children whom she was so proud of.
    Left to cherish her memory are Toni Nicole Bertolino , Anthony Salvador Bertolino, and Dylan Dante Bertolino, all of San Diego; the love of her life, Andy Devries; her mother, Beulah Mae Johnson Bogart; her siblings, Ricky Stamper (Reva) , Shirlene Larsen (Irv), Debra Barnes (Joe), Jacqueline Farthing (Bobby), and Misty Davis (Keith); and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many friends and customers in San Diego.
    Angie was preceded in death by her father, Shirley L. Stamper; her beloved grandparents, Lemon V. and Mary E. Stamper who raised her; and grandparents William Pearl and Martha Spicer Johnson.
    A memorial and cremation are planned for family in California. Burial and a memorial are planned for a later date on Cobb Hill, Kentucky.

Mary Katherine Puckett

    Mary Katherine Puckett, age 87, of Furnace Junction in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Baptist Health in Richmond following a long illness.
    She was born July 22, 1935, in Estill County and was the daughter of Floyd and Martha Jane Puckett Moreland. She was a retired Phillips Lighting employee and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Puckett is survived by her son, Nicholas Ray Puckett (Theresa) of Richmond; one sister, Ileen Durham of Irvine; one brother, Floyd Moreland, Jr. of Irvine; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Lee Puckett; her daughter, Vanessa Puckett Taylor; four sisters, Della Moreland, Ollie McIntosh, Minnie Osborne, and Susie Tuggle; and two brothers, John and Fred Moreland.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 23, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marc Pearson officiating. Burial was at the Crowe Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, September 22nd from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers were Christopher Puckett, Dennis Puckett, Joshua Puckett, Andrew Conner, Jacob Birchfield and Ronnie Wayne Story.
