Cory Isaiah Shean

    Cory Isaiah Shean, age 31, beloved husband of Kaitlynn LeBlanc Shean and daddy of Jayden Oliver Shean, Sophia Isabelle Shean and Westin Levi Shean, became a shining star on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
    A native of Estill County, born on July 25, 1991, he was a 2009 graduate of Estill County High School, a former employee of Clay Ingles in Lexington, and a current employee of the Dollar General Store in Elizaville. Cory greatly loved the outdoors and passed that love onto his children, taking them fishing, hunting and for discovery walks in the woods.
    In addition to his wife and children, Cory is survived by his mother, Glenna Neal; his grandmother, Elaine Gray; his aunt, Wanda Thompson (Bobby); a brother, Dakota Trey Shean; a sister, Shanna Marie Shean; his in-laws, Larry and Noemi LeBlanc and Terry and Caroline Nickell; and two special cousins, Dana Thompson and Tiffany Patrick.
    Preceding him in death were his father, Douglas Edward Shean, and a brother, Hunter Nevada Shean.
    A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m.

Bryon Keith Hall

    Bryon Keith Hall, age 55, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital in Danville, Kentucky.
    He was born on December 27, 1966, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Claude and Jessie Griffin Hall.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lynn Hall; and one sister, Rebecca Ruth Hall Jones.
    Survivors include four brothers, William Ray, Kelly Andrew, Timothy Michael, and Kenneth Edward Hall; one half-brother, Scotty Allen Griffin; a sister-in-law, Leona Griffin; three nephews, Jessie Patrick Hall, Kenneth Gaines Hall, and Kevin Griffin; one niece, Katherine Morgan Jones; as well as numerous other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for Bryon Keith Hall will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Brother Marvin Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the Sid Griffin Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P. M. on Wednesday prior to the services at Lewis Home for Funerals.

Joshua Lee McIntosh

    Joshua Lee McIntosh, age 40, husband of Allison Otis McIntosh of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
    Born September 6, 1982 in Lexington, he was the son of Mark Snowden of Clay City and Leila Faye McIntosh of Furnace. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in English. While attending EKU he served as the Captain of the Rugby team and took part in the Ruby Intermural COED team on campus. He was a former Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor, and during his life, he managed many pools, including for the Y.M.C.A. Josh loved his family and his Stanton Gym family, where he and his wife trained.
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred Teasley; and his maternal grandfather, Orville McIntosh.
    Along with his parents and wife, he is survived by one son, Bam McIntosh; two daughters, Sophia Morris and Kennedy Rogers; paternal grandmother, Waveline Teasley of Clay City; maternal grandmother, Lydia Patrick of Stanton; one brother, Charles Jared Bennett of Louisville; one sister, Jessi Shannon Chasteen (Stacy Coffee) of Stanton; one aunt, Pam Tipton (Glen) of Stanton; and one uncle, Greg McIntosh (Lisa) of Stanton.
    Visitation will be at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky, from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, with the memorial service immediately following at 7:00 p.m.

Debbie Ann Melton Alcorn

    Debbie Ann Melton Alcorn, age 58, of Mountain Crest Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
    She was born September 6, 1964 in Fayette County and was the daughter of the late Stanley Ray and Nannie Jean Kirby Melton. She had lived in Estill County for most of her life. She loved taking care of the elderly and worked for many years as a CNA at the Irvine Nursing and Rehab Center.
    Debbie had never met a stranger because if she didn’t know you, she would make sure to know your life history before she left. She loved to cook and try new recipes. She also enjoyed watching UK Basketball. She always loved the crafts that she did with her nephew at his school when he was little. She talked about the kids in his class often. They were such a joy to her. Debbie will be missed by her family and many friends.
    Mrs. Alcorn is survived by two sisters, Sandy Thacker (Jesse) of Estill County; and Norma Sparks (Tim Maggard) of Marion County; one brother, Terry Melton (Gayla) of Estill County; one special nephew, her baby, Thomas Ray Sparks of Estill County; one special aunt, Christine Kirby of Estill County; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Alcorn; one brother, Raymond Dale Melton; and father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Cynthia Alcorn.
    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Rose and Bro. Johnny Wardle officiating.     Randy Lynn Johnson, age 65, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    He was born in Irvine, November 2, 1957 to Hiram and Pauline Mosley Johnson.
    Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Teresa Merrell Johnson; a son, Craig Johnson; a daughter, Sabrina Lambert (Josh); five brothers: Roy Johnson, Duck Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Jess Johnson, and Ray Johnson; and four sisters, Della Mae Johnson, Thelma Johnson, Linda Barrett and Minnie Fay Williams.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Pauline Johnson; two sons, Eugene Johnson and Randall Johnson; four brothers, James Johnson, Larry Johnson, Kelvin Johnson, and Keith Johnson; and a sister, Carrie Mullins.

    Sarah Angline Riddell, age 99, of Goodrich Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at her home following a short illness.
    She was born June 12, 1923, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Ben and Laura Stanley Perry. She was a retired employee of the Veterans Administration Hospital and had lived in Fayette County most of her life.
    Mrs. Riddell is survived by one daughter, Laura Faye Johnson of Jessamine County; three sons: Tony Marshall Riddell, Roger Allen Riddell, and James Benny Riddell, all of Jessamine County; 20 grandchildren and several great and great, great grandchildren
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Riddell; one daughter, Doris Marie Riddell; six sons, Earl Douglas Riddell, David Wayne Riddell, Elmer Riddell, Jr., Danny Dale Riddell, Bobby Joe Riddell, and Kirt Douglas Riddell; and several brothers and sisters.

    Michael Kyle Stevens, age 34, of Leighton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at his home.
    He was born May 16, 1988 in Estill County and was the son of Karen Jean McQueen Stevens and the late Michael David Stevens. He worked at the Tutt Construction Co. and was a member of the Pistol Creek Regulators. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Survivors in addition to his mother, include his grandparents, Dixie McQueen, and Lander and Stella Stevens, all of Irvine; two brothers, Jaccob Daniel Stevens (Rachel Gooch) and Phillip Paul Stevens (Majestica), all of Irvine; and two nieces, Harper Grace Estes and Hadley Jean Stevens.
    He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Paul McQueen.

    Gloria Dean Rose, age 77, of Burton Williams Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a sudden illness.
    She was born November 25, 1944 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Burton Collins and Gertie Woosley Sparks. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Ms. Rose is survived by her daughter, Wanda Dunaway of Ohio; one brother, Willie Sparks of Irvine; and several special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mae Collins.

    Dolly Gale Eversole, 74, of Trapp, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022.
    Dolly was born on February 20, 1948, to the late John Thomas and Delores Reffitt.
    She was the widow of Berry C. Eversole and was preceded in death by one sister, Virgie Jo Reffitt Brinegar.
    Dolly is survived by one daughter, Christine Jones (Danny) of Winchester; two sons, Marty Eversole of Trapp and Kevin Eversole (Billie) of Irvine; a twin brother, Thomas Dale Reffitt (Kitty); and two sisters, Lois Jean Roberts (Ronald) and Lola Kay Young, all of Irvine. Dolly had ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Her wishes were to be cremated with no service.

    Russell Ralph Smith, age 92, of Chinoe Road in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Cambridge Place following a long illness.
    He was born May 11, 1930, in Estill County and was the son of the late Shelby Smith and Bessie Watson Smith Highley. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Interlake Steel and was a member of the Newport Nazarene Church.
    Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter, Vicki Lynn Smith Johnson of Lexington; two sons: Russell Ralph Smith, Jr. of Winchester, and Eddie Dwayne Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; one stepbrother, Robert “Bobby” Highley of Greenville, South Carolina; his cousin/brother: Billy Watson of Highland Heights; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Leora Johnson Smith; one son, James Eric Smith; and his stepfather, Robert G. Highley.
    Graveside services were conducted Monday, November 14, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Cobb Hill Cemetery with Donnie Watson officiating. Military Rites were provided by the American Legion Post 79.

    Roberta P. Pearson, age 91, the widow of Ermine Thomas Pearson, passed away Friday afternoon, November 4, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
    Roberta was born in Brassfield, Kentucky on April 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Carl Eli and Clara Mae Griffin Pearson. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Westinghouse. She always enjoyed the occasions that the Westinghouse retirees would get together. Roberta was a loving mother, grandmother and a devoted Christian Lady. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Estill County where her son Mark is the Minister. She previously attended Big Hill Christian Church where she had been involved with the “Happy Christians”.
    Survivors include her children, Bro. Mark Pearson (Angela) and Missy Pearson LeMay; five grandchildren: Jordan Sanders (Lisa Pascuzzi), Faith Pearson, Mia Sanders, Jackson “Jacksy” Sanders and Candace Pearson; one sister, Sally Congleton; one brother, Beverly Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, including David Pearson, Brent Pearson, Jerry Pearson, Paul Pearson, Richard Pearson, Chris Turpin, Carl Brown Turpin, Vickie Lake, Charlotte Thom, Janie and Lloyd McGraw and Raymond and Carol Holland.
    In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Pearson; and a sister, Faye Carol Turpin.

    Rev. James Delmar McGee, age 84, of Brown Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born February 23, 1938 in Estill County and was the son of the late Leonard and Elzie Fox McGee. He was retired from the Square D Company and attended the Restoration Community Church.
    Rev. McGee is survived by three sons: James Randall McGee (Diana) of Cincinnati, Timothy Lane McGee of Estill County; and Rodney Eugene McGee of Covington; one brother, Pete McGee; four grandchildren: Ashton Stephens, Christian McGee, Sean McGee, and Cody McGee; and two great grandchildren, August and Dash Stephens
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Catherine Brinegar McGee; one son, Bradley Scott McGee; two sisters, Susie Berryman and Anita Wilcox; and three brothers, Junior, Eugene, and Bill McGee.

    Clara Ann Durbin Chmiel, age 86, of Pryse Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness.
    She was born April 10, 1936 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Pius and Effie Dunaway Durbin. She was an United States Air Force veteran and a teller for Chase Bank. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and had lived in Estill County for the last 25 years.
    Mrs. Chmiel is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leonard “Neal” S. Chmiel; two sisters: Mary Webb of Florida, and Carolyn Asay of North Carolina; and one brother, Pius Durbin Jr. of Estill County.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Sister Elizabeth Ann Durbin, Margie Sister Francis Ann Durbin, and Virginia Elizabeth Hiler; and two brothers, Leo and Amos Durbin.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 9, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Ravenna with Father Al Fritsch officiating. Burial will be at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.

    Lois Young Gentry, the daughter of the late Johnny and Bertha Newton Young, was born in Ravenna, Kentucky on March 25, 1945 and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Ohio on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 7 days. She was a former aircraft engine inspector for General Electric for over 20 years.
    Mrs. Gentry is survived by two sisters, Joyce Treadway and Carolyn Flannery; a brother, Ernie Slone, Jr.; several nieces and nephews, Jeff Mainous, Melissa Finke, Melanie Vickers and Meritta Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.

    Janice Kay Stamper Childers, age 57, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Sunday morning, October 30, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
    She was born on May 11, 1965 in Winchester, Kentucky, to the late Hiram and Melinda Raleigh Stamper.
    Janice moved to Clark County many years ago from Estill County. She attended Howards Mill First Church of God and was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching old Westerns, taking country cruises and spending time with her cherished family and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
    Mrs. Childers is survived by her loving husband, Dale Childers of Winchester; two sons, Henry Burton of Winchester and James Burton (Katelin) of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Brittany Childers of Winchester; ten grandchildren; brother; Junior Stamper (Jenny) of Winchester; seven sisters: Alma Sally (Georgie), Linda Stokely, both of Winchester; Brenda Plowman (Jerry) of Irvine, Edna Hall of Winchester; Pam Childers (Ricky), Tina Stamper (Steve Plowman), and Kathy Gilbert (William), all of Irvine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother Terry Stamper.

Pari Lee Miller Johnson

    Our Sweet Mother, Mrs. Pari Lee Miller Johnson, age 86, widow of Jimmie H. Johnson, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the U.K. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
    Mrs. Johnson, the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Mattie Rooney Miller, was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on December 21, 1935. Pari Lee was a 1954 graduate of Madison High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of The First Baptist Church. In addition to church and Sunday School, she especially enjoyed traveling with the Youth Choir in years past.
    As a young woman, she was employed with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce in the Glyndon Hotel. Later in life she became Richmond’s “Welcome Wagon” Hostess and always enjoyed meeting new people. Pari Lee also made lifelong friends through her involvement with the Madison County Homemakers and the Madison County Democratic Women’s Club.
    With great pride, her latest employment was in the office of her son’s dental practice in Irvine, Kentucky. Throughout her life, her main focus was her family. She loved taking family trips and especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
    She is survived by her daughters: Jina Greathouse of Frankfort and Leslie Klenke (Tom) of Richmond; and her son, Dr. Jimmie Lee Johnson (Kay Lotz) of Richmond; her grandchildren: Kate Greathouse, Megan Greathouse, Jacob Klenke and Eli Klenke; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Louise Fortney, Dorothy Hall and Addie Griffith; and two brothers: Bill Miller and Gilbert Miller.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday evening, November 4th at the funeral home.
    Serving as pallbearers are Tom Klenke, Dr. Jimmie Johnson, Jacob Klenke, Eli Klenke, J.P. Miller and Mike Miller.
    The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers that were so kind to their mother, Yvonne Parks, Phyllis Jackson and Kate Greathouse.

Robert D. “Bob” Smith

    Robert D. “Bob” Smith, 79, of Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday evening, October 29, 2022 at his home on Big Andy Ridge after a long illness. He was in his favorite recliner where he wrote hundreds of stories over the years.
    Bob Smith was born in Neon, Kentucky, on July 4th, 1943, the son of Robert D. Smith and Osie Tolliver. He was an United States Army Veteran, curator and president of the Three Forks Historical Center, chairman of the Lee County War Memorial committee, Kentucky Admiral, past president of the Natural Bridge Park Association, past president of the Pine Ridge Industrial Board; just to name a few of his accomplishments.
    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Keen Smith; children, Crista Lynn and Daryle Thomas of Lyman, South Carolina; Marna and Charlie Saunders of Owingsville, and Joshua Smith of Beattyville; his grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Ethan Smith (Mariah Holiday), Zane Thomas, Lydia Saunders, Miles Saunders, Emma Smith and Allison Smith; a great grandson, Luke Ian Smith; sister, Ila Alane Nickell of West Liberty; a very, very special family friend, Jessica Treadway; special nephew Danny Cox; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Smith; mother, Osie Tolliver Cox; stepfather, Shirley P. Cox; a sister Shirley Jo Cook; and a brother, Bobby Ray Quillen.
    Visitation for Bob Smith will be held Thursday evening, November 3, 2022 from 6-9 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Center Stree, Beattyville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 4th with William Owens and Marvin Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in the Rock of Ages Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be Austin Thomas, Zane Thomas, Ethan Smith, Miles Saunders, Joe Lucas and Mike Johnson.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Cox, Alvin Wright, Larry Meadows, Alan Barnett, Jamie Stickler, and Tony Hobbs.
