Ruth Ann Stanton Henry, 79

Ruth Ann Stanton Henry

Ruth Ann Stanton Henry, age 79, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, proud mother of two daughters, and doting grandmother of one cherished granddaughter.
The daughter of William and Josephine Burch Stanton, Ruth was born on October 24, 1943 and grew up in downtown Cincinnati. One of twelve children, her siblings lovingly teased her about her freckles by giving her the nickname “Cookie”. Ruth was always soft-spoken, hard-working, and dedicated to her family.
On March 28, 1964, Ruth married the love of her life, Carl Henry of Irvine, Kentucky. She stood steadfast by his side through almost 45 years of marriage. Carl passed away on January 25, 2009. Together they raised two daughters, Cindy Jean and Rita Jo. Ruth and Carl were the adoring grandparents of Lilly Faye, who was undoubtedly the light of their lives.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Jean Papale (Chris) and Rita Jo Henry; her granddaughter, Lillyan Faye Welling; and her siblings, Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Gille, Doris Jean Mitchell, and Dennis Eugene Stanton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henry; and her siblings, Mabel Josephine Matlock, Charles Richard “Sonny” Stanton, William Grover “Buddy” Stanton, Patricia Maxine “Pat” Hennegan, William Thomas “Tommy” Stanton, Ray Mason Stanton, George Edward “Eddie” Stanton, and Russel Lee Stanton.
Ruth enjoyed studying the Bible, sitting on the patio, and watching sci-fi movies. She loved the smell of honeysuckle, the sound of windchimes, and the sparkle of snow globes. More than anything, she loved her family. Ruth’s sweet, caring disposition was immediately clear to everyone who met her. She was uncommonly understanding and had the patience of a saint. Those closest to her knew she could also be stubborn and tenacious, a side that shone through during her long, courageous battle with oropharyngeal cancer. Ruth was called Home to her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, December 23, 2022. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family.
Her life was celebrated on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Weigel Funeral Home of Hamilton, Ohio. Visitation for friends and family was held from 5-7 p.m., with funeral services commencing at 7:00 p.m., everything at the funeral home.
Ruth will be laid to rest at her husband Carl’s side on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Chestnut Stand Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky. A brief graveside committal will be held at 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society 4540 Cooper Rd Blue Ash, Ohio 45242 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
