Samuel “Sammy” Dwayne Travis, 30

Samuel “Sammy” Dwayne Travis, age 30, of Autumn Leaf Drive in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born November 5, 1992 in Fayette County and was the son of Dwayne Travis of Irvine and Sherry Lynn Willis of Richmond, formerly of Irvine. He was a graduate of Estill County High School, Class of 2011.
Sammy loved animals, especially his three cats, Dutchess, Hermione, and Bully. Sammy was an avid reader. He loved books even before he could read. He was a lover of music, movies, and anime. He was a self-proclaimed music and movie critic.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Callie Sonora Barnett of Richmond, and two brothers, Joshua Earlywine (Kassidy) and Jarred Earlywine (Marissa), both of Paris; and two nieces, Oaklee Earlywine and Paisley Bailey, both of Paris. He was an uncle to two special little guys, Waylon Noland and Michael Childers. Also surviving are his stepmother, Rayne Earlywine of Paris; a maternal grandmother, Wilma Willis, of Irvine; a step-grandmother, Wanda Willis, of Irvine; paternal grandparents, Merle and Loretta Travis of Irvine; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sammy had lots of friends. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Farrell Willis of Irvine; maternal great grandparents, Elmo and Lucille Townsend of Irvine, and Marion Willis and Bessie Willis of Irvine; paternal great grandparents, Edward and Bea Travis of Irvine, and Samuel and Nannie Embs of Irvine.
Sammy was also preceded in death by his best friend, Obie Noland, of Irvine.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Penelope Faith “Penny” Bishop, 52

Penelope Faith “Penny” Bishop, age 52, of Elm Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
She was born April 1, 1970, in Estill County and was the daughter of Earl Wayne Bishop Sr. and Carolyn Sue Scenters Bishop. She was a seamstress for Carhartt and was of the Holiness Faith. She had lived in Estill County for all her life.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her daughter, Courtney Sue King of Estill County; three brothers: Earl Wayne Bishop Jr., Russell Ray Bishop, both of Estill County; and Tony Lee Bishop of Hamilton, Ohio; and one grandchild, Lucian Zakari King.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 6, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.

Thelma Chambers Horton, 101

Thelma Chambers Horton, age 101, widow of Buford T. Horton, the former superintendent of Estill County Schools, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, peacefully at her home.
She was born in Estill County, Kentucky, on July 4, 1921, to the late John R. and Lucille Kimbrell Chambers. She was retired from Nutek Beauty Academy and a member of Dunaway United Methodist Church. Thelma was a loyal supporter at Glen Eden Youth Center and always enjoyed spending time there.
Survivors include two children, Tom Horton and Becky Taylor; grandchildren, Stephen Horton, Allen Taylor, and Lori Horton Winburn; great grandchildren, Zach Horton, Garry Allen Taylor III, Langdon Winburn, Logan Winburn, Ella Grace Horton, Grant Jackson Taylor, and Aidan Gillis; and great, great grandchildren, Millie Lynn Horton and Maria June Horton.
She lived a long and worthwhile life, always keeping God at her focus.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Winchester Cemetery Layne Shelter by Pastor Jim Hall. Pallbearers will be Logan Winburn, Garry Allen Taylor III, Zach Horton, Grant Jackson Taylor, Bryan Middleton, and Marshall DeVary.

Melinda Ann Miller, age 56, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at her home.
She was born on June 6, 1966, in Irvine, to the late James Raymond and Mary Sue Baker Miller.
In addition to her parents, Melinda was preceded in death by three brothers, James Randolph, Jeffrey Scott and Douglas Allen Miller; and two sisters, Jennifer and Nancy Miller.
Miss Miller is survived by her daughter, Heather Philhower and fiancé, Chris; her son, Daniel Philhower III; and a special bonus daughter, Emily “Jamie” Calmes; three grandchildren, Daniel Ray Philhower IV, Kristopher Philhower, and Cayson Mullins; three brothers, Dennis Miller (Irena), Billy Miller (Tammy), and Bryan Miller; three sisters, Charlotte Miller (Mike), Kim Miller, and Carolyn Miller (Shawn), along with many other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
A memorial service for Melinda Ann Miller will be conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., in the Lewis Home for Funerals chapel, with Brother Michael Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Oliver Clay Morefield, age 71

Oliver Clay Morefield, age 71, husband of the late Joann Lykins Morefield passed away at Windsor Care in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Born in Estill County on December 6, 1951, he was the son of the late Jesse Morefield and the late Bessie Gillespie Morefield.
Clay loved Ale8 only in returnable bottles, coffee and anything sweet. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music; especially the music of George Jones, and watching his favorite game show, “The Price Is Right” and his favorite baseball teams, the Braves and the Cubs.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Morefield; and one sister, Loretta McClure.
He is survived by two sons: Thomas Morefield (Kayla Rawlings) of Mt. Sterling and James Morefield (Brandi Logan) of Clay City; four brothers: Willie Morefield of Richmond; Ed Morefield of Clay City; Jerry Morefield of Kentucky, and Larry Morefield of Stanton; one sister, Lillie Mae Bowman of Mt. Sterling; and two grandchildren, James Dylan Morefield and Raeann Jean Morefield.
Funeral services officiated by Bro. Dale Payne will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cob Hill Cemetery in Ravenna with Thomas Morefield, James Morefield, Bobby Barnett, Stacy Salleng, John Brooks and Jesse Chadwick serving as active pallbearers.

William Junior Reece, 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Joe – East in Lexington.
William was born on July 9, 1945 in Irvine, Kentucky, and was the son of John William and Bessie Marcum Reece, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired truck driver and business owner.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline Davis Reece; three sons, John Reece, Sr. (Rebecca), Earl Reece (Faith), and Lynn Reece (Angela May); one chosen daughter, Toni Miller; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Reece; three sisters, Gladys Hoover, Susie Tuttle, and Louise Hyatt; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his great grandson, Jaxton McKinney; two brothers, Lodie and Tracy Reece; and two sisters, Thelma Hoover and Elizabeth Davis.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Greg Humpert officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ima Murphy Ward, age 92, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at her residence.
She was born November 28, 1930 in Estill County, Kentucky, to the late Lonnie Murphy and Hazel Isaacs Murphy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eula, Edra and Beulah; and brothers, Donald and Bonnie Murphy.
She worked for the Henry County Public School System and enjoyed all the children whom she truly admired. She loved children and animals; enjoyed helping others, and the outdoors, especially hiking.
Ima is survived by her daughter, Jessie Ward; sisters, Mildred "Midge", Margie and Mary; and brothers, Tony Murphy and Everett Murphy.
The visitation was held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel in Martinsville.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday,February 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the West Irvine Cemetery.

Corbett Brown Feltner, age 72, of Hazard, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at Saint Joseph London in
London, Kentucky.
He was born at Hazard on June 26, 1950 to Raymond Feltner and Linda Johnson Feltner Howard. Corbett loved to garden, carpentry work, wood working, working on cars, trucks, four wheeling and going fishing.
Mr. Feltner is survived by a daughter, Tonya Williams (Chris); a grandson, Connor Williams; two sisters, Jenny Spencer (Bill) and Joyce Hardy (Pepper); and two sisters-in-law, Cleta Stanley (Wayne) and Donice Perkins (Joe).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Feltner and Linda Feltner Howard; his wife, Jeanne Feltner; one daughter, Alison Feltner; and two brothers, Estill Feltner and George Feltner.
Funeral services for Corbett Brown Feltner were held at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel in Hindman, Kentucky, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. with Brian Bridges and Josh Feltner officiating. Burial followed at the Alison Feltner Cemetery at Fisty, Kentucky. Visitation was held at the Chapel, Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
David “Bimbo” Strange, 68

David “Bimbo” Strange, age 68, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at his residence.
He was born January 5, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Steve Strange and Shirley Patrick. He was a retired contractor.
Mr. Strange is survived by three sons, Jesse Rogers, David Strange, and Jason Strange; two daughters, Mary Strange and Crystal Gibson; 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Lee Scott and Doug Scott; and a sister, Rejeana Scott.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Patrick Scott; his dad, Jerry Scott; his biological father, Steve Strange; a brother, Terry Scott; and a sister, Mary Alice Strange.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City with Bro. Eugene McIntosh officiating. Friends visited Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial followed in the Patrick Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Anthony Richardson, Danny Richardson, Mark Crowe, Ronald Allen and Korie Hall.
Honorary pallbearers were Jonathon Rogers and Adam Rogers.

Robert Alfred Adams, age 91, of Old Garden Court in Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home following a short illness.
He was born February 21, 1931 in Bourbon County and was the son of J. E. “Doc” and Letha Doyle Adams. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winchester and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laverne Toler Adams; one daughter, Kathy Jo Lewis (Craig) of Winchester, Virginia; one brother, Roy Adams of Bourbon County; and two grandchildren, Robert Lewis and Susan Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, J.E. Adams, Jr., Matt Adams and Archie Adams.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 1, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Scobee Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Toler, Rev. Wayne Everman and Rev. Vernon Adams officiating. Burial was at the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scobee Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jay Jones, Mark Jones, Gary Adams, Jim Watkins, George Johnson and Lynn Toler.

Jeremiah Clayton Earl Jankowski, age 30, of Willow Lane in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home.
He was born November 19, 1992, in Fayette County and was the son of Greg and Amy Ashcraft Arvin. He worked at the Edgewater Recovery Center as a peer support counselor. He was a member of the FFA and attended the Drip Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his fiancée, Whitney Lowe; a stepdaughter, Haley Lowe; two sisters, Audrey Arvin and Amber Arvin; his father, John Robert Jankowski; and his grandparents: James and Janet Kiser, John Dale Arvin, Sue Ashcraft and Jean Woods.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday, February 3, 2023, 7:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Carr officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gregory Allen Flinchum, age 63, of Owingsville, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Saint Claire Hospital in Morehead, Kentucky.
Gregory was born on November 25, 1959, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Robert and Wilma Jean Berger Flinchum. He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, race cars, baseball, softball, and playing pool.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Flinchum was preceded in death by his son, Nikita Flinchum.
Survivors include, his wife, Teresa Flinchum; three grandchildren, Beth, Sara, and Christina Flinchum; one sister, Gloria Flinchum; and his stepson, Chris Donathan; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gregory Allen Flinchum will be conducted on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Mike Munday will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Scott Johnson, age 42, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Irvine, Kentucky.
Mr. Johnson was born on February 7, 1980, in Irvine, to David Wise and the late Kathy Johnson. He attended Cobb Hill Community Church.
In addition to his mother, Jeffrey is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Ruby Wise; his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Roy Johnson; one uncle, Randall Wise; and a nephew, Tyler Riddell.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his father, David Wise; his aunt/adopted mom, Angela Townsend; two children, Carissa Reed and Keegan Goodrich; four sisters, Carolyn Byrd and Jeremiah, Claudia Richie, Latasha Townsend, and Brandy Raider and Rick; very special friends, Jamie Farmer, Miheyla, and Manessah; two grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews, Taylor, Larry, Rylin, Landyn, Braydon, Mason, John, Cameron, and Larkin; along with numerous other friends and relatives to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Jeffrey Scott Johnson will be conducted on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. in the Lewis Home for Funerals chapel. Pastor Jeremiah Byrd will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Marlene Dawes Rawlins, age 62, of Old Fox Road, Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Marcum Wallace Hospital following a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Rawlins, her parents, Orville and Anna Mae Farthing Dawes; two brothers, Roger Dawes and Wayne Dawes; a sister-in-law, Mae Dawes, and a brother-in-law, Donald "Duck" Rawlins.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Rawlins; a daughter-in-law, Samantha Rawlins; two grandaughters, Samara and Carlie Rawlins; one sister, Doris Jean Harrison (Steve); one brother, Norman Dawes; five sisters-in-law, Sheree Dawes, Sharla Dawes, Tobie Rawlins, Denise Norton, and Neila Rawlins; and one brother-in-law, Danny Rawlins. She also leaves behind several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her very much.
Per her request, Mrs. Rawlins wished to be cremated and her ashes spread alongside of her son, Michael.
No services will be held at this time.

James Adams, age 86, of Geneva Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 after a short illness at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
He was born March 6, 1936 in Estill County and was the son of the late Lennie and Bertha McIntosh Adams. He was a retired supervisor for Wright Energy and a farmer. He had lived in Estill County most all his life.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Eldora Wise Adams; his daughter, Rhonda Michelle Hardy (William); his sister, Jeanette Vincent; his brothers, Reece Adams and Lennie Adams Jr.; his grandchildren: Zachary Todd Robinson, Elizabeth Park Hardy, William Elliott Hardy, and Ella Fanklyn Hardy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Regina Lynn Adams Robinson and her late husband, Todd Randall Robinson. He was also preceded by two brothers, Harold Adams and William Adams; and four sisters, Mattie Lou Sparks, Anna Mae Murray, Estine Finney, and Irene Neal.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, January 30, 2023, 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Pearson officiating. Burial will be in the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Zachary Robinson, Elliott Hardy, William Hardy, Ray Griffith, Travis Horn, and Tommy Vincent.

Earl Douglas Richardson, age 68, husband of Sandra Kaye Sizemore Richardson, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Baptist Health Richmond, Kentucky.
He was born January 21, 1955 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late James Douglas and Jessie Faye Haddix Richardson.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Richardson; a son, Shane Richardson (Brianna); a daughter, Brenda Patrick (Eric); three sisters, Donna Lawson (Dwayne), Kay Gross (Melvin), and Joyce Caudill; four grandchildren, Paige King (Randy), Caitlin Rawlins (Chase), Ashely Skinner (Blake), and Shawn Douglas Richardson (Alexis); a special grandson, Nicholas Johnson; two great grandchildren, Tripp King and Rowyn King; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held Sunday, January 29, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at Irvine First Church of God.

Bobby Gene Worsham, age 81, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Clark Regional Hospital in Winchester, Kentucky.
Mr. Worsham was born on October 18, 1941, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Eugene and Ruby Lyon Worsham.
Along with his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Worsham; and one sister, Sue Tackett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillia Kate Roberts Worsham; his children, Theresa Delaware of South Carolina, Meshell Delaware (Peggy) of Georgia, Andy Delaware of South Carolina, Gerald Len Delaware (Amy) of Irvine, Loretta McPherson (David) of Ravenna, Laura Miller (David) of Irvine, Virginia Thorpe (Doug) of Mount Sterling, Anthony Worsham of Irvine, Bobby “Little Bob” Worsham (Penny) of Tennessee, and Rita Ray (David) of Mississippi; numerous grand- and great grandchildren; four brothers, Joe, Steve (Mary Lynn), Charles (Sue), and Jerry Worsham (Lynn), all of Hopkinsville; and two sisters, Brenda Pryor (Jerry) of Texas and Janie White; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
A memorial service for Bobby Gene Worsham was conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Irvine, with Brother Bill VanWinkle officiating.

Doris Kay Rose was born July 24, 1963 in Richmond, Indiana, and departed this life Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, at the age of 59. She was the daughter of the late Jimmy Day and Ethel Eversole.
She is survived by two children, Wesley Rose of Sand Gap and Ethel Truett (Pete) of Annville. She was blessed with three grandsons, Shane Truett, Jacob Rose and Emerson Rose. Other survivors include her siblings, Patricia Turpin (Chuck) of Lexington, Eva Lee Day Carrier of Lexington, Kim Lyons (Mike) of Richmond, Vicky Whicker (Stanley) of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Robert Eversole (Ronnette) of Bloomington, Indiana; and three special nieces who were more like daughters, Loretta Stepp of Versailles, Tina Jones of Richmond and Cathy Brook of Irvine; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Day and by a sister, Ardie Jane Day.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Mitchell Ball officiating. Burial followed in the Dan Rose Cemetery.

John Anthony Wiseman, age 71, of Jackson, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at his home in Quicksand, Kentucky, six weeks prior of celebrating his 72nd year birthday.
John was born in Estill County, Kentucky, on March 4, 1951, the son of Carl David and Agnes Marie Dixon Wiseman. He was a 42-year retiree of CSX Transportation of Jacksonville, Florida. John was a member of the Jackson Christian Church and a 46-year member of Hart Lodge #61, F & AM, Nicholasville. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, serving at the Lexington Scottish Rite Consistory. John was an Oleika Shriner, serving as an aide at the Oleika Temple in Lexington.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ruth “Tootsie” Combs Wiseman of Jackson; a daughter, Dr. Lisa Collins of Lexington; two grandchildren, Natalie Collins of Lexington and Hager Collins of Naples, Florida; one sister, Katrina Wiseman Price of Richmond; one brother, David Kent Wiseman of Hazard; and a host of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Carl David and Agnes Marie Dixon Wiseman of Irvine; a brother-in-law, Charles “Buddy” Price; and a sister-in-law, Maga Lea Wiseman.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Jackson, Kentucky. Masonic Rites were held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. by ministers, Ted Bailey, Harry Kemper and Stephen Bowling. Interment followed in the Jackson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Samuel Anthony Edmonds, Charles "Beau" Price IV, Hayden Anderson Edmonds, John Thomas Clayton Price, Cole Alexander Price and Hager Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were retired and active CSX employees.
