William Butler Benton, 49

William Butler Benton, age 49, of Benton Road in Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1973, in Estill County and was the son of Donnie Benton Sr. and Lillie Thacker Benton. He was a construction worker for Denham & Blythe and he had lived in Lee County for most of his life.
In addition to his parents, he survived by two daughters, Brittany Marshall (Johnathan) of Estill County; and Summer Benton of Colorado; one son, William Lucien Benton of Estill County; two sisters, Kimberly Benton and Amber Benton, both of Madison County; one brother, Donnie Benton Jr. of Lee County; one grandchild, Brycen Marshall; two nephews, Dale and Joe Benton; and his girlfriend, Mary Stapleton.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Durbin Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at 1:00 p.m.
Marvin Lee Becknell, 70

Marvin Lee Becknell, age 70, widower of Debra Blanton Becknell, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at his home in Booneville, Kentucky.
Marvin was born February 15, 1953 in Oneida, Kentucky, a son to the late Harold Becknell and Ivery Edwards Becknell. He was a retired Certified Nurse Aid for Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Tyner, Kentucky, a volunteer firefighter for both the Island City and Vincent Fire Department for over 40 years, a member of the Gideon’s, and a member of the Island City Baptist Church.
Mr. Becknell is survived by his mother; one son; Michael Becknell (Lindsay) of Lexington; three daughters, Kim Hoover (Tim) of Sommerset, Rebecca Abner of Booneville, and Jessica Doty of Irvine; one brother; Tim Becknell (Sherry) of Booneville; one sister, Debbie Gary Watts of Hazard; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Becknell, Cassadee Hoover, Levi Becknell, Emma Becknell, Richard Doty, Angela Doty, and Dillion Doty; along with many other loving family members and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife and father.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Island City Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Murray officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Church. Marvin will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Island City Church Cemetery located in Island City community of Owsley County.

Billy Brashear, 98

Billy Brashear passed peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the age of 98 in Gainesville, Florida.
He was born on December 19, 1924, in Cumberland, Kentucky, to Ezekiel and Virgie Mary VanCleve Brashear, and for 75 years was a devoted husband to his cherished wife Glenna. Billy spent much of his early life living in Estill County, on Laurel Street in Irvine and on Elm Street in Ravenna. His father was a rural mail carrier.
After serving his country with honor during World War II as an Army Liaison Pilot, one of the original Army aviators, he continued to pursue his passion for aviation as a private pilot and served on the board of directors of the Gainesville Alachua County Regional Airport Authority.
A lifelong learner, Billy was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville Medical School, where he was an Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society member. After moving to Gainesville in 1954, Billy dedicated himself to improving the health and well-being of his patients through his general medical practice and provided care to generations of Gainesville families. He served as Chief of Staff at Alachua General Hospital and on the Blue Cross of Florida Board of Directors. Billy was certified as a Family Practice specialist and was given the Art of Medicine award by the Florida Academy of Family Physicians in 1988.
Billy enjoyed spending time with his family taking vacations throughout the United State, Canada, and Mexico, several family vacations at Callaway Gardens, and he loved family gatherings at the lake house on Long Pond.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Billy enjoyed sailing, fishing, and his community. He was active in the US Power Squadron, the Hydrilla Circle of the Eastside Garden Club, and was President of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville. Billy loved adventures and enjoyed worldwide travel with his sweetheart, Glenna.
A man of deep faith, Billy was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. Billy’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will be carried on by his surviving loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Glenna; his son, Bruce Brashear (Connie); daughters, Daphne Brashear Herron (Jim) and Annette Brashear Ball; his grandchildren, Amelia Lindsey and Benjamin Brashear; and their mother, Judy Brashear; grandchildren, Austen Herron and Wilder Herron; step-granddaughters, Tanya Sonderby, Stacey Allen, Heather Terricola, and Aria Terricola; numerous great grandchildren; and his nephew, Dan Fraley.
He was preceded in death by his father Ezekiel Brashear, his mother, Virgie Brashear; and his son-in-law, Danny Ball.
The family would like to thank Billy’s dedicated caregivers, whose loving kindness provided comfort to Billy and his family during the final year of his life.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 N. Main Street, Gainesville, Florida. Billy’s life and legacy will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15, at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 106 SW 3rd Street. A private burial will follow with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Santa Fe College Foundation, Billy and Glenna F. Brashear Nursing and Health Related Scholarship Fund.
Thelma Mae Flynn, 88

Thelma Mae Flynn, age 88, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born February 14, 1935, in Irvine, to the late Cleveland Rawlins and Sarah Campbell Rawlins. Thelma was a retired employee for Westinghouse and North American Phillips. She loved to cook and bake, as well as taking care of her two “fur babies”, Sweet Pea and Suzie Q. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in her home and raising her family.
Thelma is survived by three sons: Charles Richard Flynn (Beverly), of Danville, William Owen Flynn and Robert Earl Flynn, both of Irvine. Additional survivors are her grandchildren, Anastasia Flynn Knight, Robert Levi Flynn, and William Eric Flynn. She is also survived by one great grandchild, Corbin Knight, along with many other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. A private burial took place at a later date.
George “Emerson” Jones, 95

George “Emerson” Jones, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. The husband of Irvine native Patricia Ann Hardy Jones, Emerson was born November 22, 1927, to the late George and Lida Burton Jones in Webster County, Kentucky.
Emerson was a lifelong UK fan, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UK College of Agriculture. Named a Kentucky Colonel, he served the Commonwealth as a UK County Extension Agent and Area Specialist, bank vice president, Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture and Kentucky Farm Bureau Board member. His decades of work helped Kentuckians advance farming practices, farmers markets and community service.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia; Emerson is survived by his sons, George Jones, Jr. (Kristine) of Maryland, Tim Jones presently of Florida, and Jeff Jones (Kellie) of Midway; four sisters, Peggy Winterman, Gladys Estes John), both of Evansville; Linda Vincent of Robards, and Jeanie Shelton (Don) of Henderson; two brothers, Bill Jones (Carolyn) of North Carolina and Gary Jones (Anita) of Wilmore; grandchildren, Rachel Jones, Justain Jones (Brittany), Kelsey Ross (Merlin), Jarod Jones, Mary Jones, Caroline Jones, and Rebecca Jones; and his great grandchildren, Reagan Ross, Lily Jones, Nathan Jones, and Ryan Ross.
In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Jones and wife Jean; a sister, Eula Bowman and husband Bob; and a brother-in-law, Joe Winterman.
A family Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Rice Carroll, age 92, of Bingham Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
He was born September 27, 1930, in Estill County and was the eldest son of the late Ernest and Sarah Isaac Carroll. He loved to hunt and enjoyed going on walks and spending time with his family and neighbors and his special friend, James Bingham. He was a retired employee of Isaacs Sawmill in South Irvine and had lived in Wagersville all his life and was well known and liked by everyone in the area.
Mr. Carroll is survived by two sisters, Nannie Kate Webb of Madison County; and Linda Harrison of Estill County; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Van Dalie Brinegar; and two brothers, Bonnie and Harvey Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 10, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Rose officiating. Burial will be at the Brinegar Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Randolph Walling, age 81, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Landmark Nursing Facility in Lancaster, Kentucky.
He was born on December 14, 1941, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Zack and Lillian Walters Walling.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Walling was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Donald Walling; and four sisters, Sophia Rawlins, Frances Horn, Marilyn and Claire Walling.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Lynn Collins and Robin Combs (Seth); two stepdaughters, Regina Miller (Tom) and Anita Murphy; seven grandchildren, Candace Collins, Aaron Gulley, Josh Woosley (Corinne), Trevor Murphy, Travis Bunch, Rachel Stone (Allen) and J.T. Miller; seven great grandchildren, Savannah Tolson, J.T. Tolson, Layson Pike, Landon Woosley, London Woosley, Lillian Woosley and Malachi Stone; foiur brothers, Ray Walling (Joyce), Roy Walling (Sue), Jackie Walling and Zack Walling Jr.; five sisters, Mary McIntosh (Jim), Ida Casey (Lee), Dorothy Lutes (Forrest), Norma Jones (Teddy), and Louellen Johnson (Harold); and two special friends, Wayne Hunt and Barbara Henry; along with many other friends from Northwood Apartments; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Randolph Walling will be conducted on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Tim Floyd will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Irvine. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9th from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beverly Ann Collier, 82, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away at her home on Monday, June 5, 2023.
She was born in Estill County on Wednesday, December 11, 1940, the daughter of the late Carlo and Ruth Arvin Winkle. She was a devoted homemaker and immaculate housekeeper who took pride in her home and raising her family. She loved to cook and bake, especially custard pies. She was a great hostess who smothered guests in her home with kindness. Being a caregiver and the first one to help when needed was her way of showing love to her family and friends. As a member of the Irvine First Church of God, she enjoyed participating in the WCG Missionary Group and really loved her church family.
Mrs. Collier was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Collier; and a brother, Gary Winkle.
Survivors include two daughters, Belinda Raye Collier of Irvine and Sandra Kaye Collins (Robert) of Bybee; two nephews, Gary Lee Winkle, Jr., of Portugal and Steven Collier, of Pikeville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Irvine First Church of God, 199 Broadway, Irvine, with Bro. Eric Patrick and Bro. Glennis Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the South Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 7th and after 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the church.

Barbara Jean Woosley, age 86, of Clay City, Kentucky, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, June 2, 2023, at her home in Clay City.
Barbara was born on February 24, 1937, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Herbert and Mary Green Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Woosley; a daughter, Sherry Stamper; three brothers, Thomas, Arthur and Ray Stone; and two sisters, Wilma Ruth Stone Hartley and Rebecca Stone Rose; along with a granddaughter, Andrea Stamper.
Survivors include three children, Judy Anderson (Glenn), Jeff Woosley, and Angela Miller (James); nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Stone (Mary); two sisters, Joyce Stone Cornelius and Paulette Stone Rader (Linden: one special niece, Tina Brassfield; along with numerous other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Barbara Jean Woosley will be conducted on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Marvin Neal will be officiating. Interment will follow in the West Irvine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon on Thursday until the time of funeral services at the funeral home.

Annabelle McKinney Hensley, age 76, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
Ms. Hensley was born on September 1, 1946, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Sam and Lou VanCleve McKinney.
In addition to her parents, Annabelle is preceded in death by one son, Larry Stephen “Stevie” Hensley; and her former husband, Larry Hensley.
She is survived by her two sons, Randy Hensley and Sam Hensley (Karen); two grandchildren, James and Garrison Hensley; and one brother, Dr. Michael McKinney (Cynthia); along with numerous other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Graveside funeral services for Annabelle McKinney Hensley will be conducted on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jackson Chapel Church Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky. Pastor Pat Finley will be officiating.

Paul Brandenburg, age 76, of Fairground Ridge in Beattyville, Kentucky, departed this life Friday, June 2, 2023, at Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine, following a long illness.
He was born February 22, 1947, in Lee County and was the son of the late Joe Dave and Annie Brandenburg. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was an electrician and carpenter who helped build many homes in his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. He was a member of the Pine Crest First Church of God and had lived in Lee County all his life.
Mr. Brandenburg is survived by his wife of 57 years, Manda Brandenburg; his daughter, Angela Voyles (Jeff) of Lee County; his son, Chad Curtis Brandenburg (Tammie) of Estill County; his twin sister, Pauline Miller of Lee County; five grandchildren, Athena Desirae Voyles, Jarek Scott Voyles (Brooke), Amanda Mae Voyles, Lyric Nicole Brandenburg, and Jacob Paul Brandenburg; two great grandchildren, Jayden Taylor Voyles and Ava Rose Voyles; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Amel Brandenburg; and his sisters, Helen Thomas and Geraline McIntosh.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2023, 6-9 p.m. at Newenam Funeral Home, 108 Center Street in Beattyville. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Newnam Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in teh Joe Brandenburg Cemetery in Beattyville.

Patricia Ann Jones, age 65, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
She was born July 21, 1957, in Richmond, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Rex and Nellie Mays Murphy. She was a retired employee of the Estill County Housing Authority and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Jones; and is survived by two daughters, Michelle Parks of Somerset and Melanie Parks of Irvine; two sons, Jimmy Riley of Mt. Sterling and Shawn Riley of Richmond; two sisters, Robin Parks of Mt. Sterling, and Carol Verble of Irvine; three brothers, Gene Murphy of Mt. Sterling, Billy Murphy and Roy Murphy, both of Irvine; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Verble officiating. Burial will be at the Stapleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Delilah Smyth Hall Gould, age 98, of Cobb Hill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at her home following a short illness.
She was born May 9, 1925, in Lee County and was the daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle Hall Smyth. She was a retired employee of A.O. Smith Manufacturing and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Gould was preceded in death by her husbands, Loyd Hall and Nathan Gould.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Minix of Estill County; one son, Gregory Scott Hall of Estill County; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gould was preceded in death by three sons, Daniel Loyd Hall, George Steven Hall, and Walter Douglas Hall; four sisters, Ann Childers, Gertie Edwards, Gladys Gross, and Shirley Hall; and five brothers, Edward, Don, Gerald, Ben, and Gary Smyth.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, June 10, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at the Cobhill Crossroads Community Church with Zachary Minix officiating.

Janice Mae Woosley Reynolds, age 80, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born on January 23, 1943, in Irvine, Kentucky, Mrs. Reynolds was the daughter of the late Wilson and Leoma Howard Woosley.
Jan was a long-time member of The Ivory Hill Baptist Church. In her younger years she loved singing gospel solos. She loved Jesus and prayed for all her children and family to come to know the lord.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, James L. Reynolds; her daughter, Teresa L. Moses; her son, Don Ray Moses II; a son-in-law, Ronald Profitt; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Reynolds; two grandchildren, Jessica Moses and James Edward Reynolds; two brothers, Kenneth and Bob Woosley; and one sister, Ella Faye Havens.
Survivors include her son, Doug Reynolds; her daughters, Ruth Profitt, Pamela Stone (Jerry), and Teresa Reynolds (Jimmy); and her special little angel, Cherish Lynn Reynolds; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; and one special niece, Tina “Baby” Brassfield; along with several great, great grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reynolds Family Cemetery 525 Stone Road, off Old Fox Road, in Irvine, Kentucky. Bev Allen will be officiating.
The pallbearers will be Jerry Stone, Tim Osborne, Jeff Woosley, Elijah Stone, Trinity Osborne, and Doug Reynolds.

Willie Eugene Cain, age 61, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at his residence.
He was born June 19, 1961 to Willie and Helen Cole Cain. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Cain is survived by his mother, Helen Cole Cain; one son, Willie A. Cain; one daughter, Shelby Cain; two sisters, Serena Hardy and Marcia Marcum; one brother, Samuel Cain; and two special friends, Shelia Neal and Ruby Cain.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie Cain; and two brothers, James Cain, and Anthony Cain.
Funeral services were conducted at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine with Bro. Kevin Phillips officiating. Friends visited from 10:00 a.m. till time of service. Burial was in the Hardy Cemetery in Irvine.

Gainus R. Rogers, age 81, of Irvine Road in Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home following a short illness.
He was born June 7, 1941, in Estill County and was the son of the late Shirley and Pauline Watson Rogers. He had retired from Richmond Road Paving, and he was an Evangelist and Pastor. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Roadside Mission Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Warmouth Rogers, and he is survived by two daughters, Zada Rogers of Powell County and Dana Patrick-Adams (Jonathan) of Fayette County; one son, Terry Rogers (Jeanetta) of Estill County; one sister, Jeanne Neal of Estill County; one brother, Hargus Rogers of Madison County; eight grandchildren: Jered Patrick, Mark Patrick, Brandon Bowen, Dustin Bowen, Shayla Crowe (Roger), Jayden Rogers, Jordan Keith (Tyler) , and Macey Adams; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eldean Rogers.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 3, 2023, 12:00 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jered Patrick and Bro. Jim Hall officiating. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, June 2nd from 6-9 p.m.

She was born March 14, 1965, in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Onley and Alweena Ratliff Marcum.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her children, Natasha Curtis, Jimbo Curtis (Brittany) and Tabatha Ashley (Steven); grandchildren, Jaylynn, Kameron, Branston, Rileigh, Laron, Stephen, Kylynn, Jackson, Daya, Zachariah, Layson, Adikus, Izabelle; and several brothers and sisters, as well as special friends, Rose Rawlins, and Lisa Salley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Joseph Curtis as well as several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Brenda Sue Murrell, age 39, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at her home in Irvine, Kentucky.
She was born January 1, 1984 in Manchester, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Woodrow Murrell and Georgia Lou Creech Murrell. She worked in food service, and in her spare time she enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her family, and friends.
Brenda is survived by two sons, Mason Wayne Smith of Buckhorn and Dillon Blake Murrell of Beattyville; three sisters, Linda Creech (Freddie), Rhonda Arnold (Thomas Mays) and Patty Davidson; two brothers, Dayle Murrell (Donnie) and Woodrow Murrell III (Angie); her boyfriend, Vincent Pickens; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Georgia Lou Murrell.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Morgan officiating. She was laid to rest in the Oliver-Creech Cemetery located in Booneville.

Max Molihan, age 83, of Homestead Drive, Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born March 5, 1940 in McArthur, Ohio to Olis Molihan and Florence Blackford.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Scott Molihan; one grandson, Timothy Allen Rednour; two brothers, Delford and John Molihan; and three sisters, Emma Haburn, Kate Beiers, and Daisy Molihan.
Max is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Diana Molihan, Treasa Sparks (Mike), and Anthony Molihan (Lori); eleven grandchildren, Dosha Flowers, Maranda Dunn, Josh Holland, Alex Feck; Evan, Caeden, Chase and Carlee Molihan; Megan and Daniel Boswell; and John Sparks; along with 15 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Molihan (Ruth); and two sisters, Martha Hoover and Peggy Myers; along with a host of nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Max was a United States Marine from 1957-1970 and a veteran of the Vietnam War, a pastor of the First Church of God for 50 years, attended the Christian Fellowship Church of God and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Visitation and services will be held at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12th from 6-9 p.m. and service will be Tuesday, June 13th at 2 p.m., officiated by Brother Anthony Molihan, Brother Harold Kelly, and Brother Vernon Gross.
Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery with Evan Molihan, Chase Molihan, Sid Ramey, Mike Sparks, Ross Poe, Josh Holland, Daniel Boswell, and Anthony Molihan serving as pallbearers.

Timothy Clay Johnson, age 56, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the University Of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He was born November 12, 1966 in Winchester to Harold and Nona Muncie Johnson. He was a self-employed mechanic and loved Drag Racing.
Mr. Johnson is survived by three daughters, Ashley Rogers, Samantha Eversole (Lee), and Alyssa Roseberry; three sons, Stephen Johnson, Darian Walkins, and Chase Johnson; and one brother, Paul Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nona Johnson; and one sister, Deana Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday June 12, 2023, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City, Friends may visit from 12:00 Noon till time of service. Burial will follow in the Combs Cemetery in Clay City.
Serving as pallbearers are David Hall, Tim Huff, Tony Muncie, Kenny Bradshaw, Tyler Eversole, and Brandon Tincher.

Daniel Gale Thorpe, husband of Donna Verlyne Lillard Thorpe, age 79, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Veterans Administration Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born in Lima, Ohio on January 30, 1944, he was the son of the late French Hough Thorpe and the late Gladys Sparks Thorpe.
Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd “Fuzzy” Thorpe.
Daniel was a United States Navy Vietnam veteran who received many awards, medals and commendations for his service. He was a retired Locomotive Engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad. Daniel was a member of many organizations including 50 years and past Master of the Stanton Masonic Lodge #352, the Valley of Dayton Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, American Legion Post #305, Vietnam Veterans of America, Stanton Senior Citizens, and was a Kentucky Colonial. He also served on the Natural Bridge Park Association (Scholarship Committee) and formerly on the Board of Directors for Kentucky River Foothills. Daniel attended church at Stanton Assembly of God.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by two sons, Jason Thorpe (Conni) of Ferdinand, Indiana; and Bradley Thorpe of Stanton; three step-sons: Nathan Rhodes (Alison) of Phoenix, Arizona; David Rhodes (Rene') of Marion, Massachusetts; and Timothy Rhodes of Glendale, Arizona; one step-daughter, Sarah Halbeisen (Paul) of Woodville, Ohio; one sister, Darlene Thorpe of Stanton; one grandson, Jonah Thorpe; and eight step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023. Masonic Funeral Rites will be held on Monday as well at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Ed Thomas and eulogy presented by John Carl Brewer, will be conducted on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in the Stonegate Cemetery in Stanton with Donnie Pearson, Darrell Collins, Jerole Delrosario, Justin Thorpe, Brandon Thorpe, Anthony Brewer and Tim Jenkins serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are David Thorpe, Paula Thorpe, Darlene Thorpe, Jimmy Thorpe, Mike McCoy, Paul Howard, Brenda Ross, Glenda Jones, Jewell Dinsmore and Margaret Congleton.

Phyllis Kinser Faulkner, age 88, widow of Paul D. Faulkner of North Main Street, Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
Born in Bowen, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Loretta Farmer Kinser. Phyllis was a retired 3rd grade school teacher at Stanton Elementary School and also worked for the Head Start program in Powell County for some time. She was a member of the Stanton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Phyllis served on the Clark Energy Cooperative Board of Directors, was a Hospice volunteer, and a member of The Red Hat Society. Phyllis had a great passion for vegetable and flower gardening. She loved to can her vegetables and was known as a great cook.
Along with her husband and her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Forest Kinser; and her sister, Vada Edwards.
She is survived by two daughters: Terry Martin (Steve) and Sharon Mallory (Steven), both of Stanton; five grandchildren: Lauren Campbell (Tony), Paul Mallory (MacKenzi), Kyle Thacker (Allie), Stephen Martin (Dallie), and Kendall Martin (Lori); eight great grandchildren: Liam Campbell, Elliot Campbell, Madeline Campbell, Hudson Campbell, Preston Martin, Whitney Martin, Memphis Martin and Meadow Martin; and two nieces, Patty Neal and Debbie Kays.
The family would like to give a special thank you to caregivers: Bessie Watkins, Bobbi Brady, Ronda McCarroll, and Montana Kocher.
Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton. Carol Lynn Dickey of Stanton, Kentucky, wife of Kenneth Earl Dickey, departed this life Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the age of 60 years and 24 days.
She was a daughter of the late Amos King and Josephine Ledford King, born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, on May 10, 1963. She was a cashier and a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
Mrs. Dickey is survived by her husband, Kenneth Earl Dickey of Stanton; her daughter, Jessica Lynn Rogers (Brian) of Stanton; one step-son, Kenneth "Buster" Rose (Connie) of Campton; eight grandchildren; one brother, Walter Lee King; and two sisters, Linda Tipton of Clay City and Rowena King of Campton.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Douglas Hyden; her parents, Amos King and Josephine Ledford King; one brother, Samuel King; and three sisters, Eudena Wethington, Christina Haddix, and Rosetta Fletcher. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, 769 East Main Street, Campton, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Sister Jennifer Williams officiating. Burial will be at the Maloney Cemeter at Flat-Mary.
